Ryan Uekert
Ryan J. Uekert, 28, of Middleton, WI, died unexpectedly in his sleep at his home on Friday, April 7, 2006.
Memorial services were held April 11, 2006 at Lakeview Lutheran Church, Middleton. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Ryan J. Uekert was born on March 22, 1978, in Madison, WI, to Phil and Connie (Siedschlag) Uekert. Ryan attended Wausau East High School and graduated with an HSED. He also took courses in taxidermy and veterinary science. He loved fishing and was a Packers fan and also a Brewers and Wisconsin basketball fan. Ryan wrote poetry and several poems had been published. He currently had been a website designer.
Ryan is survived by his parents, Phil and Connie Uekert; a brother, Patrick (Michelle) Uekert, all of Madison; grandparents, Les (Pat) Siedschlag (former Granite Falls residents), and D. Clark (Kathy) Everest Jr., all of Wausau; Uncle Jim and Aunt Deb Sidd of Bloomington; cousins, Andy and Jenny Sidd, also of Minnesota; extended family from Ohio includes the Brent Marshall family, the Ryan Lynch family, Sandi Marshall and great-aunt Virginia Lovhaug.
He was preceded in death by his great-uncle, Everett Lovhaug.

Marilyn Froland
Marilyn Froland, 73, of Shakopee, died April 19, 2006 at her home. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 28 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Shakopee with Rev. Laura Duffee officiating. Honorary pallbearers are her four sons: Mark, Paul, Erik and Dean; John Donek and Darrell Nelson. Interment will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Sauk Rapids. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the St. Francis Health Care Foundation.
Marilyn Alyce Froland was born Aug. 30, 1932 in Echo to Hilding and Hannah (Mjelde) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at Echo Alliance Church. She graduated from Echo high school in 1950 and enrolled in St. Cloud Teachers College and received her teaching certificate in 1951. She returned to college to continue her studies and from 1953-1964 she taught at three different schools in the Minneapolis area. On April 10, 1954 she married ArGene Froland. In the summer of 1964 she moved with her family to Renville County where she began teaching at the Danube public school.
She received her masters from the University of Minnesota and continued teaching in Danube until 1977 when they moved to New Prague. She began teaching in the Jordan public schools in 1978, retiring in 1996 ending her 44-year teaching career.
During this long career, she was involved with her church, her schools and other volunteer organizations.
She is survived by her children, Mark, Paul (Tammie) all of St. Cloud, Erik of Shakopee, Dean of Minneapolis, Melissa (John) Donek of Pierz; their father, Gene Froland of Hastings; grandchildren, Hannah Froland, Mallory and Gabriel Donek; sisters, Hazel Radach of Woodland Park, CO, and Janice Atwood of Oak Grove, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers-in-law Russell Radach and Frank Atwood.
McNearney Funeral Home of Shakopee is in charge of arrangements.

Dennis Warnke
Dennis Warnke, 81, of Wood Lake, died April 24, 2006 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 2006 in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wood Lake with burial of cremains in Wood Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and continue Thursday one hour prior to services.
Dennis Orville Warnke was born on June 25, 1924 in Posen Township to Adolph and Emma (Behr) Warnke.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Dennis attended Wood Lake public school.
He entered the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.
After his discharge he returned to the Wood Lake area.
On Nov. 24, 1954 he married Mary Hall. They lived in and around Wood Lake all their married life.
He owned and operated the Warnke Cafe in Wood Lake with his brother Virgil until it burned down. During his life Dennis worked for the Wood Lake Creamery, Plews in Granite Falls and the city of Wood Lake, retiring in 1987.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran where he had sung in the choir.
He was a member of the American Legion in Wood Lake and VFW in Granite Falls. He also managed the Wood Lake girls' softball team for many years.
He is survived by his three children, 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; Marjorie Rojas and husband Leonica of Mexico City, Mex-ico, and their children Jennifer, Jessica and Erika and their grandsons Isaac and Emilio; Bradley Warnke and wife Renee of St. Bonifacius and their children Jesse, Amber, Jessica, Caitlin and Garret and Monica Darwin of Wood Lake and her children Elijah and Nicole Kellermann and husband Adam; brother Leonard Warnke and wife Collett of Echo.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary in 2003; his parents, seven brothers and three sisters.
Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is in charge of arrangements.

Gerald Blue
Gerald Blue, 74, of Granite Falls, died April 23, 2006, at the Granite Falls Hospital.
His funeral was held April 26 at the Multi-Purpose Building with Gary Cavender officiating.
Organist was Elitta Gouge' and special music was by Butch Felix. Pallbearers were Charles Talbert, Richard Goodthunder, Mitch Olson, Scott Larson, Alan Olson and Dan Blue. Burial was in Doncaster Cemetery.
Gerald Sadric Blue was born on Oct. 10, 1931 to Norman and Helen (Williams) Blue in Lake Traverse, SD.
He graduated from high school in Flandreau, SD and attended Wahpeton Community College.
Gerald served his country in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in June of 1954.
He married Janice Louis on June 28, 1986.
Gerald was a heavy equipment operator in Minneapolis for many years.
He was employed at the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Aberdeen, SD.
Later Gerald was a judge for the Sisseton Wahpeton tribe.
He also was a Dakota studies teacher at Tiospa Zina Tribal school.
In the early 1990s Gerald served as the Upper Sioux Community chairman, vice chair, member of the elder board and meal site coordinator. He also worked as security for the casino.
He is survived by his wife Janice and step-son Richard Lake of Granite Falls.
He married Sally St. Clair from Morton in Granite Falls in 1951; surviving children are Kathy (& Charles) Talbert of Minneapolis; Karen (& Martin) Stanley of Maryland; Greg Blue of Sacred Heart, and Pamela Kaizen (deceased).
On Nov. 19, 1966 he married Gertrude Ritz of Willmar and their surviving son is Michael Blue of Granite Falls.
Gerald is also survived by 22 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one sister, Patty (& Harvey) Birkman of Granite Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two siblings in infancy, three sisters and one daughter.
Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Granite Falls was in charge of arrangements.

Ruby C. Gatchell-Clendenin
Ruby C. Gatchell-Clendenin, 92, of Watertown, South Dakota, died on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at a local care center.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 23, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Watertown, with the Reverend Steven Bailey officiating, and Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Watertown, South Dakota.
Honorary Pallbearers were CPL Paul Clendenin (Camp Dwyer-Afghanistan), Dr. Ed and Ann Larson, Henrietta Sleaper, Ornie Alness, Ruby’s nieces and nephews and the staff at Jenkins Living Center.
Active Pallbearers were James Clendenin, Jr., Howard Gatchell, Scott Lentz, Gene Mack, Dave Stricherz and Dave Farrell.
Ruby Charlotte Clendenin was born on October 14, 1917 to Ira and Clara (Nolton) Gatchell in Granite Falls.
The sixth of eight children, Ruby grew up on the family homestead on the Minnesota River near Granite Falls.
She worked on the home farm and other neighboring farms until her marriage.
On August 12, 1955 she married Frank Clendenin in Sisseton, South Dakota.
The couple moved to Watertown, where Ruby worked as a housekeeper and then in central supply at the Memorial Hospital until her retirement in the late 1970s.
Ruby then provided day care for her three grandchildren.
Her husband, Frank, passed away on April 26, 2007.
Ruby enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, Rachel, J.J. and Paul.
She also enjoyed her flowers, gardening and canning.
She always enjoyed a good laugh.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank; and seven brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her son, Jim (Vina) Clendenin of Watertown; three grandchildren, Rachel Clendenin and her fiance', Dave Farrell of Cavour, South Dakota, J.J. (Nikki) Clendenin of Watertown, and Paul Clendenin stationed in Afghanistan; one great grandchild, James; one brother-in-law, Ornie Alness and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were by Wight, Comes & Sogn Funeral Chapel in Watertown, South Dakota.

Earl L. “Bill” Steinman
Earl L. “Bill” Steinman, 91, of Clarkfield, died on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at the Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital in Montevideo.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 6 at Augustana Lutheran Church in Clarkfield, officiated by Pastor Allan E. Johnson. Burial was at the Clarkfield City Cemetery in Clarkfield.
Earl Lewis “Bill” Steinman was born on August 21, 1918 in Grant City, Missouri to parents Luke and Eva Matinda (Lewis) Steinman.
He was one of 15 children, with only 2 remaining.
In 1939, he drove from Missouri north until he reached Minnesota.
Bill married Mary Elizabeth Tricker, daughter of William and Madge Tricker, on September 2, 1941 in Maryville, Missouri.
They were the parents of three children: William, Richard, and Margaret.
Bill served in the United States Army from 1941-1943, being stationed in San Antonio, Texas.
Bill and Betty farmed southwest of Clarkfield for many years.
They moved to Clarkfield and made their home in the “last house” going west.
Bill was active in many things in his community.
He enjoyed bowling, snowmobiling, car racing, hunting and softball.
He was the manager of the Consumers Co-op Softball Team.
He helped start the Clarkfield Curling Club and was a member of the Clarkfield Clown Club.
He had a passion for antique cars.
Bill is survived by his wife, Betty, of nearly 70 years, and his children: William of St. Paul; Richard (Candie) of Ft. Myers, Florida; and Margaret ( Jim) Connolly of Ramsey. He is also survived by grandchildren: Derek Steinman of Portland, Oregon; Chris Steinman of Concord, New Hampshire; Luke Connolly of Blaine; and Mark Connolly of Ramsey; and great grandchildren, Scott (age 16) and Mykala (age 13). Also surviving are sisters: Goldie Troutwine and Georgie Helen Kidney and sisters-in-law Jean Steinman and June Steinman.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 12 siblings.
Arrangements were by Lynner Funeral Home of Clarkfield.
