John Meyer, 14, of Gibbon, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, of injuries he received in a snowmobile accident in Nicollet County. Services were Wednesday, Jan. 26, at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon with burial in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery in Moltke Township, Sibley County. Arrangements were handled by Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, Gibbon.
John is survived by his father, Russell Meyer and his wife Lisa Meyer of Gibbon; his mother, Sue Meyer of Gibbon; sisters, Amy Bridget Meyer, a student at North Park University in Chicago, Ill., and Laura Beth Meyer of Gibbon; stepbrother, Tyler Schmidt of Gibbon; and stepsisters, Katrina Schmit, and Kassandra Schmit, both of Cokato; grandparents, Arnold and Dorothy Meyer of Gibbon, and Donald and Dorothy Nazarenus of Sleepy Eye; and by aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents.
John was born May 4, 1985, at Sioux Valley Hospital in New Ulm to Russell and Susan (Nazarenus) Meyer. He attended his first two years of school at St. Peter's Lutheran School in Moltke Township, Sibley Country, and then GFW School in Winthrop, where he was a freshman. He loved to work on cars, drive tractor, ride motorcycles and snowmobiles and thoroughly enjoyed farming with his uncles.

Cecilia Gannon, 91, of Sleepy Eye, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, in Sleepy Eye. Services were Tuesday, Feb. 1, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, with burial in the church cemetery. Sturm Funeral Home of Sleepy Eye handled the arrangements.
She is survived by her children, Thomas and wife Eileen Gannon of Duluth and Clarice and husband Bart Christenson of Woodbury; granddaughters, Jeanne Gannon of St. Paul, Kimberly and husband Todd Blouin, and Megan Christenson, all of Ft. Worth, Texas; and sister-in-law, Virginia Booye of Seattle, Wash. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George on May 29, 1985; a brother, Rt. Rev. Msgr. John Mich; sisters, Marie Mich, Dorothy Diekhoff, Mary Mich and Emily Mich.
Cecilia was born on May 16, 1908, in the Rochester area, to John and Dora (Schmelzer) Mich. She graduated from Holy Trinity High School in Rollingstone, and from the College of Saint Teresa in Winona. She taught science and mathematics at St. Mary's High School in Sleepy Eye. On Aug. 24, 1937, she married George Gannon at St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Simpson. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers Society, Divine Providence Home Auxiliary, and Council of Catholic Women.

Frances Hale, 111, of Sleepy Eye, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 7, at Divine Providence Home with interment in Three Rivers, Mich., at a later date. Visitation will he held one half hour prior to services at Divine Providence Home. Firle Funeral Home of New Ulm is handling the arrangements.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Anna Kotz of Three Rivers; two grandsons; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1955; four brothers; one sister; and son-in-law, Donald Kotz.
Frances Steinke, daughter of William and Anna (Bratschner) Steinke, was born Aug. 21, 1888, in Sleepy Eye. She married Alvin Hale on March 10, 1913, in Portland, Oregon. They moved to Minneapolis where she was an accompanying pianist with the J. Jellison Studios in the 1940s and 1950s. She also taught piano lessons in her home. Following her husband's death, she moved to an assisted living facility in St. Paul and later returned to Sleepy Eye to live near her brother in the Divine Providence Home. There, she continued to play piano until the age of 105.

Theresa Rose Roiger, 91, of Springfield, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at St. John Lutheran Home, Springfield. Services were Jan. 28 at St. Raphael's Catholic Church, Springfield, with interment in St. Raphael's Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield.
She is survived by her children: Don and wife Joyce Roiger of Chaska, James Roiger of St. Louis, Mo., Marie and husband Richard Koldborg of Burnsville; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rudolph in 1980; seven brothers, Andrew, Joseph, George, Otto, John, Tony, and Art; six sisters, Mary, Kate, Clara, Amelia, Bertha, Veronica; and seven brothers and sisters died in infancy or early childhood.
Theresa was born July 3, 1908, in Albin Township, Brown County, the daughter of George and Theresa (Suess) Eckstein. Theresa married Rudolph Herbert Roiger on Oct. 11, 1927 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. After marriage the couple made their home in Springfield. Theresa was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield, president of the Altar Society, director of juveniles in St. Monica Court for four years, and was a member of the St. Joan's Mission Group at St. Raphael's Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Hospital Auxiliary, the Third Order of St. Francis, the American Legion Auxiliary and president and treasurer for the senior citizens. Theresa helped start Meals for Shut-Ins, was a driver for senior citizens, cooked for many weddings and anniversaries, helped at local restaurants and was a cook at the Springfield Community Hospital for 18 years until she retired in 1974. She enjoyed crafts and fancy needlework, but her favorite hobby was traveling, first with family and later as a member of tour groups. Places she visited included Europe, the Caribbean, Panama Canal, Hawaii, Mexico and almost all of the 50 states.
Casket bearers were Kent Moe, Val Rathman, Eddie Pautzke, Gerhardt Roiger, Shawn Koldborg, and Jason Jacobson.
Memorials are preferred to St. John's Home in Springfield.

Roland Arthur Becker, 70, of Springfield, died Monday, May 7, 2001, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 10, at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, with interment in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Springfield, with military rites by the Springfield American Legion. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, and noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.
Roland was born Oct. 6, 1930, in Springfield, the son of Henry and Maria (Heberling) Becker. He grew up and graduated from high school in Sanborn in 1947. He entered the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict in the electronics field. After discharge, he returned to the area and worked with his brother Wilbert "Pee Wee" building houses in Sanborn and the surrounding areas. Roland married Betty Bauch July 27, 1959, in Storm Lake, Iowa. He opened a TV shop in Springfield which he operated until his health failed. He worked at the Springfield High School as a janitor and also for the Minneapolis Tribune until he retired in 1996. Roland was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Springfield and the Springfield American Legion. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Roland is survived by is wife, Betty Becker of Springfield; children, Mitchell and wife Lillea Becker of Gaylord, Merrick and wife Chris Becker of Shakopee, Marty Becker of Comfrey, Joni and husband Jim Deibele of Springfield, and Jane and husband Doug Domeier of Sleepy Eye; step-children, Brad and wife Alba Leopold of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., and Julie and husband Jim Bauer of Springfield; 20 grandchildren, Bridget and Ryan Becker, Adam, Nick and Ann Marie Becker, Kayla and Logan Becker, Cassie and Jesse Deibele, Josh, Jeremy, Melissa and Sarah Domeier, Jay, Clinton, Tracy and Toni Leopold, and Jimmy, Bob and Tony Bauer; brother, Walter and wife Rose Becker of Morgan; and sister, Maria and husband Val Albertson of Springfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Matthew; brothers, Otto, Kenneth and Wilbert; and sisters, Martha, Erna, Margaret and Ruth.
Casket bearers are Bob Bauer, Tony Bauer, Adam Becker, Ryan Becker, Joshua Domeier and Jeremy Domeier.

Richard C. "Rich" Filzen, 60, of rural New Ulm, died Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at his home. Mass of Christian burial was held Saturday, May 5, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, with interment in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, New Ulm, handled the arrangements.
Richard was born Dec. 10, 1940, in New Ulm, to Phillip and Mary (Zangel Hlavac) Filzen. After graduating from New Ulm High School, Richard worked at Kraft and worked on the farm with William and Adeline Kretsch. He married Rita Hesse on Nov. 24, 1962, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. They moved to a farm in 1971 in Sigel Township, near Clear Lake where they operated a dairy farm and raised and trained Arabian horses until last fall when his health prevented him from working. Richard was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. He was a member and also served on the board of MI Arabian Horse Club and was also a member of the Sleepy Eye Saddle Club. Richard enjoyed holding Hawaiian luaus for family, friends and neighbors. He held Arabian horse shows for over ten years to promote the Arabian breed. He loved showing horses and helping others with horses. He took great pride in building and maintaining his farm. Richard also enjoyed the company of his dog Spike.
Richard is survived by his wife Rita Filzen of rural New Ulm; daughters and son-in-law, Carrie Rodewald and her special friend Sylvan Fischer, and Julie and husband Ross Hellendrung, all of New Ulm; sons and daughter-in-law, Terry Filzen of Proctor, and Dale and wife Laura Filzen of New Ulm; grandchildren, Brandon, Nathan and Cody Rodewald, Raquel and Justin Filzen, and Tamara Hellendrung; step-grandchildren, Tiffany Wilhelmi and Toni-Ann and Marcus Weber; step-great-granddaughter, Victoria Regan; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mabel Kral of Maplewood, Gladys Elrod of Stoneyfort, Calif., Shirley and Gene Gores of Redwood Falls, Donna and Hugo Balk of Mankato and Phyllis and Bernard Gulden of New Ulm; brothers, Donald and Roger Filzen of New Ulm and Walter Filzen of Mankato; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jim and Donna Holm, Judy Hesse, Steve and Jenny Hesse, Dave Hesse, Leo Hesse, and Lois and Arlyn Keute, all of New Ulm. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers in infancy; and special friends, William and Adeline Kretsch.

Harold "Boogie" Johnson, 87, of Springfield, died Sunday, May 6, 2001, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. Services will be Thursday, May 10, 10:30 a.m., at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-10 a.m. on Thursday at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield. There will be a parish prayer service, 7 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home and a men's rosary at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Raphael's Catholic Church.
Boogie was born May 19, 1913, in Springfield to Claus and Effie (Matter) Johnson. He attended and graduated from Springfield High School in 1931, after which he worked with his dad at Johnson Plumbing and Heating. He entered the United States Army in October 1942, during which time he put a sign on the front of the plumbing shop saying "Gone to War." Boogie served in the European Theatre in France and Denmark, and was discharged in January 1946. He returned to Springfield, changing the name of the business to Springfield Plumbing and Heating, and attended Dunwoody Institute to obtain his master license in mechanical engineering. He was a member of Southwest Minnesota Contractors Association, and for a period of time was a major provider of Plumbing and Heating Contracting and Services in Southwestern Minnesota and Eastern Dakota from the late 1940's into the mid-1990's. Boogie was recognized by the Who's Who Organization and listed on Dunn and Bradstreet. He was proud to be the third of five generations of the Johnson family to work at Johnson's and Springfield Plumbing and Heating. Boogie helped with many community projects, including the golf course, the American Legion Club, the Springfield High School, St. Raphael's Church, the hospital and several other buildings in the community. He was a 26 year member of the Springfield Fire Department, a 50 year member of John Watson American Legion Post 257, a long time member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church, a former member of the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He played in the Springfield Orpheus Band, enjoyed bowling, all sports, spending time at the Green Lake cottage, fishing, especially sports fishing, traveling and watching his grandchildren play sports. Boogie was very organized, meticulous at his work and bookkeeping, and taught his children and grandchildren a strong work ethic.
Harold is survived by his wife, Fern Johnson of Springfield; daughters, Sandee and husband John James of Colorado Springs, Colo., Roxie Denne of Las Vegas, Nev., and Sally and husband Bob Meyer of Springfield; sons, Terry "Butch" and wife Marjie Johnson of Springfield, and Ron "Che Che" and wife Eileen Johnson of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Evelyn Jensen of Springfield. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Violet Meyer.
Casket bearers are Brooke Johnson, Lindsay Johnson, Brandyn Johnson, Kim Meyer, Scott Meyers, Shelly Meyers, Bridget Moore, Trent Johnson, Jeff Wenisch, Michelle Wenisch, Terry "Skeeter" Johnson, Jr., and Sommer Johnson. Honorary casket bearers are Tom Joyce, Eddie Albertson, Norbert Matter, Dr. Frank Boyle, Arnie Hillesheim, Dick Loomis, Bill Esser, Ed Tauer, Bud Arfmann, Bob Sucker and Dr. DeWayne Tegels.

William E. Simon, 80, of Sleepy Eye, died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at his home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 17, 2001, 2 p.m., at New Hope Community Church in Sleepy Eye, with interment in Fort Ridgely Cemetery, Fairfax, with military rites by the Sleepy Eye Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, and 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.
Bill was born Dec. 25, 1920, and lived in North Star Township on the family farm until he entered the Navy at age 22. He was discharged in December of 1945, having served on the destroyer "Stockton" in the Pacific area. He witnessed the signing of the American-Japanese Peace treaty on the battleship "Missouri." After discharge, he was engaged in farming with his father. Bill married Marjorie Ann Davis on Dec. 19, 1948, in Springfield. The couple moved to a farm north of Sleepy Eye. Six children were born to this union and they adopted three children from Korea. Bill belonged to several different organizations, among them the Saddle Club, going on many trail rides. He enjoyed his children, grandchildren and his special horse, "Chief," his mule, "Dutchess," and his dog, "Sara."
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Simon of Sleepy Eye; children and their spouses, Eugenie Rae Simon of Sleepy Eye, Scott and Myra Simon of Sleepy Eye, Tamara and Frank Nerriweather of Spring Valley, NY, Derk and Genifer Simon of Sleepy Eye, Mitchell and Betty Simon of Quincy, Wash., Kallen Simon of Champlin, Martin and Ho Soon Simon of Okinawa, Japan, Keiron Simon of Rapid City, S.D., and Kylie and Chad Carlson of Nevis; 19 grandchildren; brother, W. Robert and wife, Dorothy Simon of Springfield, many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Nellie Simon.

Amelia "Milly" Meta Billmeier, 93, of Sleepy Eye, died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at her home. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 17, 2001, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, with interment in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Sleepy Eye. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, and 7:30-9:30 a.m., Thursday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. There will be a Christian Mothers rosary at 4 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home on Wednesday.
Amelia was born Feb. 10, 1908, in Morgan, the daughter of Carl and Anna (Richter) Kopischke. She grew up and attended country school in Morgan. Amelia married John Billmeier on Feb. 27, 1933, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Clements. The couple farmed in rural Clements, moved to rural Belview, then to rural Morgan, where they farmed until moving to Sleepy Eye in February of 1958. Milly worked at DelMonte, Divine Providence Home and the Orchid Inn. She enjoyed taking trips, flowers, her family, making quilts for her grandchildren and crocheting many afghans.
Milly is survived by children, Lorraine and husband Alfred Braulick of Sleepy Eye, Lois and husband Gildard Hillesheim of St. Peter, Donald and wife Rita of Sleepy Eye, Dorothy and husband Dale Krzmarzick of Sleepy Eye; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Alvin Kopischke of Redwood Falls, Minnie Billmeier of Richfield, Gladys Stenroden of Minneapolis, Eleanor Tigges of Minneapolis, Helen and husband Verlin Benson of Cosmos, John and wife Irene Kopischke of Wadena, and Lester and wife Eileen Kopischke of Bay City, Mich. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John on Oct. 31, 1987; two grandchildren, Becky Schumacher and David Braulick; son-in-law, Peter Schumacher; brothers and sisters, Augusta, Carl, Herman, William, Edward, Theodore, Delores, and Arthur in infancy.

Harold A. Renner, 86, of Springfield, died Thursday, May 10, 2001, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield. Services were held Saturday, May 12, at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, with interment in Springfield City Cemetery.
Harold was born April 15, 1915, in Springfield, the son of Andrew and Helene (Schmidt) Renner. He grew up in Springfield and attended Springfield Public School. Harold married Margery Delaine Geschwind Nov. 8, 1939, in Sleepy Eye. After their marriage, the couple made their home in Springfield where Harold was employed as a mechanic at Ochs Brick and Tile, was engineer and in maintenance at the Power Plant, and owned and operated his own blacksmith shop. He also worked at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato. Harold retired in 1981. He was a member of United Methodist Church, Springfield. Harold enjoyed fishing, woodworking, fixing anything that needed fixing and above all, being with his family.
Harold is survived by daughters, Eileen and husband Denton (Red) Kohlhof of Hackensack, Margery H. Renner of Springfield, and Janelle and husband Mel Hopp of Nicollet; son, Harold C. Renner and wife Ethel of Rochester; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; sisters, Hertha Prechel of Springfield and Dorothy Geschwind of Sleepy Eye; sister-in-law, Bea Renner of Springfield; brother-in-law, Udo Viergutz of Plymouth. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Margery in 1995; son, Russell; brothers, George and Arnold Renner; and sisters, Mildred Todd, Helene Viergutz, and Lucille Renner.
Casket bearers were Carl Hopp, Brian Hopp, Russell Renner, Jason Geschwind, Orin Prechel and Roger Prechel.

Judith "Judy" Henrichs, 59, of Sanborn, died Saturday, May 12, 2001, at Springfield Medical Center in Springfield. Services will be Thursday, May 17, 2001, 11 a.m., at Old Westbrook Lutheran Church, rural Westbrook with interment in Brookville Dannebod Cemetery, rural Sleepy Eye. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 16, from 4-8 p.m., and Thursday, May 17, from 7:30-8:30 a.m. at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield. Visitation will also continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Judy was born Feb. 21, 1942, in Sleepy Eye, to Orvin and Lillian (Nelson) Jensen. She grew up in North Redwood and attended schools there, graduating from Redwood Falls High School in 1960. On Sept. 30, 1961, Judy was united in marriage to Jerome C. Henrichs at Cherokee, Iowa. The couple lived in Cherokee for some time before moving to Redwood Falls. They worked on various turkey farms, later moving to Springfield and finally to Sanborn in 1966, where they made their home. Throughout her life, Judy worked at DelMonte, Butterfield Foods, Control Data, Pietrus, and for the last 13 years, Toro in Windom. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, working, and playing bingo. She was a long time member of Old Westbrook Lutheran Church. Judy has battled cancer since 1992. Her most recent battle began in 1998.
Judy is survived by daughters, Tina and husband Mike Brown of Westbrook, Betty Jo Henrichs and special friend, Kelly Meintel of Sanborn; step-son, Russell and wife Deb Henrichs of Houston, Tex.; grandchildren, Kenny Henrichs and fiance' Jerrica Blakeman, Chad and Carrie Brown, Bobby Sue and Johnny Ladd, Jamie Sanders, and Rainbow and Jessica Henrichs; step-grandchildren, Desiree, Adreanna and Diego; sister, Sandy and husband Pete Maleck of Redwood Falls; brothers, John and wife Judy Jensen of Redwood Falls, James and wife Judy Jensen of Sleepy Eye, and Everett (Butch) Jensen of Redwood Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerome in 1995; sister, Darlene Kuebler in 1987; sister-in-law, Lois Henrichs in 1979; and mother-in-law, Louise Henrichs in 1973.
Casket bearers were Aron Brown, Jamie Jensen, Shawn Burden, Greg Kuebler, Gary Kuebler, and Josh Berkland. Honorary casket bearers were Johnny Ladd, Jamie Sanders, Carrie Brown, Kenny Henrichs, Bobby Sue Ladd, Rainbow Henrichs, Chad Brown, Jessica Henrichs, and Jerrica Blakeman.

Arlene Joyce Johnson, 66, Granbury, Tex., formerly of Lake Lillian and Sleepy Eye, died Monday, May 7, 2001, at Osteopathic Medical Center of Texas in Ft. Worth, Tex.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at First Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian, with interment in the Lake Lillian Community Cemetery.
Arlene was born Sept. 21, 1934, in Lake Lillian to Melvin and Clara (Kiecker) Lundquist. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian. Arlene grew up in Lake Lillian, where she attended district 110 public schools, graduating from Bird Island High School in 1952. She worked in Hopkins with the Red Owl Corporation. She was united in marriage with Jerry Johnson, July 16, 1954. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Waseca and in 1957, moved to Sleepy Eye. Arlene worked with the A.S.C. office in Sleepy Eye, then retired in 1986 from Advertising Unlimited, Inc., formerly known as HAAS, Inc. Her husband, Jerry, died Oct. 24, 1987. She then moved to Granbury, Tex. in 1988, where she lived until her death. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Acton, Tex., and the Sleepy Eye American Legion Auxiliary. Arlene enjoyed writing letters to family and friends, reading, collecting eagles, angels and teddy bears, she loved children and spending time with her family and friends.
Arlene is survived by sons, Perry D. Johnson and special friend Karen Brand of New Ulm, Paul D. Johnson of Denver, Colo., and Todd W. Johnson of New Ulm; daughter, Amy Jo and husband Aram Freidman of Princeton Junction, N.J.; sister, Betty and husband Glen Boettcher of Owatonna; four grandchildren, Joe and Ryan Johnson, Raisha and Nova Freidman; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry; and brother, Robert "Bob" Lundquist.
Casket bearers were Joe Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Jerome Johnson, Gary Johnson, Kevin Boettcher and Paul Sellner.

Silverius J. "Sarge" Schweiss, 77, of Sauk Rapids, died Wednesday, May 9, 2001, at St. Cloud Hospital.
Services were held May 11, 2001, with military honors by the Sauk Rapids American Legion Post 254, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sauk Rapids, with interment in the parish cemetery.
Silverius was born Dec. 22, 1923, in Fairfax, to Joseph and Hedwig (Huhn) Schweiss. He served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He married Bernice Reinhofer Jan. 10, 1959, in St. Cloud. Sarge was self-employed as a plumber in the Sauk Rapids area. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Sauk Rapids American Legion Post 254.
Silverius is survived by his wife, Bernice Schweiss of Sauk Rapids; daughters and sons, Peggy Benoit, Diane Hall, and Joseph of Sauk Rapids, Eugene of Maple Grove, Mary Midas and Jerome Foley, and LuAnn Helgeson of Monticello; brothers and sister, Arnold of New Ulm, Leona Mathiowetz of Sleepy Eye, and George of Gibbon; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by an infant son; an infant grandson; and sister, Florence Kotton.

Anna May Bertrand, 77, of Kansas City, Mo., died Thursday, May 3, 2001. Funeral services were held Monday, May 7, at Mount Moriah and Freeman Chapel, with interment in Mount Moriah Cemetery in Kansas City, Mo.
Anna May Parish was born Jan. 4, 1924, in Lakeside, Mo. On Oct. 22, 1949, in Kansas City, Mo., she married Medard Bertrand of Sleepy Eye. The couple have three children, Helen Ann and husband Dan Troshyknskie of Omana, Nebr., Fern and husband Jerry Martin of Lees Summit, Mo., and Mike Bertrand of Joplin, Mo.; and seven grandchildren.
