NANCY C. HIMBURY

Nancy Carrol Himbury, 63, Odessa, Mo., died Friday, March 5, 1999, at St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs.

Mrs. Himbury was born Jan. 11, 1936, in Lexington, Mo. She worked on the assembly line at the Delco Battery plant in Fitzgerald, Ga., and at the General Motors Leed's plant in Kansas City. She was a life member and past president of the Odessa VFW Auxillary No. 5675. She was past president of VFW Auxillary District No. 6.

She was preceded in death by her second husband, Robert Himbury, on Dec. 5, 1977, and two sisters, Fostina "Dody" Schloman and Violet Archer and a half-sister Lila Mae Archer.

Her survivors include five sons, David L. Lueck, Higgins-ville, Mo., Timothy W. Lueck and his wife, Christie, Fremont, Nebr., Leroy D. Lueck and his wife, Lena, Odessa, Mo., James L. Lueck, Sioux City, Iowa, and William C. Lueck, Odessa, Mo. two brothers, Norman Archer, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Don Archer, Louisville, Colo.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Monday, at the Ralph O. Jones Chapel in Odessa. Private inurnment will be at a later date. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.

CLYDE D. LONG

Clyde D. Long, 64, Kansas City, died Friday, March 5, 1999, at his home.

Mr. Long was born Aug. 23, 1934, in Ash Grove, Mo. He worked as a mechanical engineer for AT&T for 33 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Heartland Community Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Tom Long and Gene Long, and two sisters, Charlene Dunn and Esther Long.

His survivors include his wife, Shirley A. Long, of the home; one son, Mark A. Long, Indepen-dence, one daughter, Paula R. Cooper, Independence; seven brothers, Elgie Long, Harold Long, Ed Long and Kenneth Long, all of Ash Grove, Mo., Joe Long, Independence, Randy Long and Charles Long, both of Walnut Grove, Mo., two sisters, Ann Breedlove, Ash Grove, and Jean Mason, Alrich, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Brett A. Long and Ashli P. Cooper.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Monday, at the chapel. The family suggests memorial contributions to Kansas City Hospice, 1625 W. 92nd Street, Kansas City, Mo. 64114.

NELL A. SHAW

Nell A. Shaw, 94, Indepen-dence, died Thursday, March 4, 1999, at the Medical Center of Independence.

Mrs. Shaw was born Aug. 21, 1904, in Gerster, Mo. She was a member of blue Ridge Boulevard United Methodist Church and past member of The Around the World Club, Gilpin Town Extension Club, the Blue Ridge Color Slide Club and the Golden Acres Women's Club. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Elbert Roth, Fred Roth and Dewey Roth, and one sister, Clara Davis.

Her survivors include her husband, Frank Shaw; one daughter, Carole J. Elliott, Independence; one son, Alan D. Shaw, Fontana, Calif.; two brothers, Everett Roth, Independence, and Ray Roth, Benton, Ark.; one sister, Olevia Tommey, Independence; and one grandson David "Bill" Gore of Richmond, Mo.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m., Monday, at the George C. Carson and Sons Independence Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Monday, at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Powell Gardens.

BUEL WALTHALL

Buel Walthall, 84, Indepen-dence, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at Bothwell Health Care Center in Sedalia, Mo.

Mr. Walthall was born Oct. 15, 1914, in Edwards, Mo. He worked for the Kansas City Royals Stadium Club. He retired in 1979.

His survivors include one daughter, Donna J. Hale, Warsaw, Mo.; one son, Dorman L. Walthall, Gladstone, Mo.; one stepson, Dick Wilson, Overland Park, Kan.; one stepdaughter, Sandra Moore, Raytown, and several grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, at the George C. Carson and Sons Independence Chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Washington cemetery. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Sunday, at the chapel.

JOHN P. PENNINGTON

John P. Pennington, 40, Independence, died Wednesday, March 11, 1998, at the home.

Mr. Pennington was born in Kansas City, and had lived in Kansas City, Kan. He was a lifelong area resident. He worked on the assembly line for the Riverside Seat Co. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 31.

His survivors include a son, Joshua Pennington, and a daughter, Amy Pennington, both of Independence; his mother, Mary Pennington, Independence; four brothers, Tom Pennington, Shawnee, Kan., Ray Pennington and Roy Pennington, both of Kansas City, Kan., and Terry Pennington, Des Moines, Wash.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Highland Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Park cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

JOHN E. WILSON

John E. Wilson, 46, Independence, died Wednesday, March 11, 1998, in Urich, Mo.

Mr. Wilson was born in Kansas City. He was an independent truck driver. He was a member and troop leader of the Boy Scouts of America Troop 383 of Independence and he was a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He was also a family member of Special Olympics.

His survivors include his wife, Mary J. Wilson, two sons, Brian K. Wilson and John David Wilson, and a daughter, April Dawn Wilson, all of the home; a Goddaughter, Jennifer Arel, Lee's Summit; four brothers, Edward M. Wilson, Tulsa, Okla., Robert H. Wilson, Willow Springs, Mo., Danny Brown, Stover, Mo., and Michael Brown, Eldon, Mo.; and a sister, Theresa Beasley, Fresno, Calif.

Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at D. W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel, Kansas City. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Kansas City. Friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the chapel.

JOHN W. JACKSON

John W. Jackson, 49, North Kansas City, died Sunday, March 15, 1998, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City.

Mr. Jackson was born Aug. 15, 1948, in Lexington, Mo. He attended and graduated from Lexington High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a breakfast cook at Harrah's Casino.

His survivors include his wife, Juanita Jackson of the home; a sister, Vickie Grinde, LaPlanta, Mo.; his mother, Dorothy Jackson, Blue Springs; two sons, Shannon Jackson, Independence, and Shane Jackson, Blue Springs; and grandchildren.

Memorial services will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday in the Acativity Room of Meadow Ridge, 1620 South 9th St., Blue Springs. Call 224-0309 for directions.

LAWRENCE E. "LARRY" MAYHEW

Lawrence E. "Larry" Mayhew, 87, Independence, died Monday, March 16, 1998, at the Rosewood Health Care Center.

Mr. Mayhew was born May 28, 1910, in Bromhead, Saskatchewan, Canada. He came to Independence in 1930 and later farmed at Kennett, Mo., and at Oak Grove. After retiring from farming, he and his wife went into business in Raytown, until retiring in 1972. He was a member and teacher in the South Crysler Restoration Branch.

His survivors include his wife, Marian Mayhew of the home; a son, Albert Leroy Mayhew, Independence; three daughters, Elaine Sprinkle and Esther Ray, both of Warrensburg, Mo., and Alberta Parton, Stewartsville, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Donna Richards, Independence, and Sonja Richards, Spring Valley, Ill.; three sisters, Sadie Hein and Lillian Kinser, both of Independence, and Esther Mayhew, Kansas City; two cousins who were raised with the family, Derold Wertz, Colorado, and Donna Hattey, Independence; and many grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Speaks Midtown Chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel.

DEBRA M. ROGERS

Debra M. Rogers, 45, Blue Springs, died Monday, March 16, 1998, at the Medical Center of Independence.

Mrs. Rogers was born Feb. 6, 1953, in Biloxi, Miss., and had lived in this area for 25 years. She had been employed at the Station Casino and had previously been a personnel manager at K-Mart. She was very active in the Blue Springs Booster Club. She was a member of St. John LaLande Catholic Church.

Her survivors include her husband, Richard Rogers of the home; her children, Tessa Banks, Blue Springs, Elicia Rogers, Andrea Rogers and Brandon Rogers, all of the home; her father, Ed Kersh, and stepmother, Virginia Kersh; two brothers, Ed Kersh, Jacksonville, Fla., and Billy Kersh; sisters, Regina and Marsha, California; a stepbrother, Ken Carroll, Biloxi, Miss.; and her grandmother, Marie Costello.

Friends may call from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at St. John LaLande Catholic Church, Blue Springs, followed by a funeral mass at 7:30 p.m. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Woodlawn cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Blue Springs Booster Club, or a charity of choice.

JAMES E. STEVENSON

James Edward Stevenson, 66, Independence, died Monday, March 16, 1998, at the Medical Center of Independence.

Mr. Stevenson was born Jan. 28, 1932, near Orion, Kan., and had lived most of his life in Independence. He retired as a foreman from Armco Steel in 1989 after 32 years. He ws a past member of the Independence JayCees and the Village Heights RLDS Church. He was currently working for Colonial Nursery. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jonathan and Meghan.

His survivors include his wife, Beverly Stevenson of the home; a son, James Stevenson, Buckner; two daughters, Stephanie Lappine, Blue Springs, and Pamela Webb, Kansas City; his mother, Garnett Stevenson, Independence; three brothers, Harold Stevenson, Emporia, Kan.; Robert Stevenson, Kimberling City, Mo., and Richard Stevenson, Independence; six sisters, Evelyn Straickler, Scott City, Kan., Emijean Lowe, Florence, Ariz., Mae LaMastres, Kay LaMastres, Sharon Tuttle and Sharee England, all of Independence; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be sent to Children's Mercy Hospital Hematology and Oncology Department.

FRANCES THIBODEAUX

Frances Thibodeaux, 50, Blue Springs, formerly of Independence, died Monday, March 16, 1998, at St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs.

Mrs. Thibodeaux was born Sept. 19, 1947, in Long Beach, Calif.

She was a nurse with Physicians Reference Laboratory.

Her survivors include her sons, Steve Thibodeaux and Billy Gibbs, both of Blue Springs, Roger A. Gibbs, Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Dawn Thibodeaux-Gibbs, Mesa, Ariz.; two sisters, Barbara Stiltner, Fort Bragg, Calif., and Marie Kinard, Tulsa, Okla.; and six grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at St. Anthony's cemetery, Krotz Springs, La. The family suggests contributions to the Youth Fund at Lighthouse Church, Fort Bragg, Calif. Arrangements are under the direction of D.W. Newcomer's Sons Blue Springs Chapel.

ROSA M. LOWE

Rosa Mae Lowe, 97, Blue Springs, formerly of Independence, died Wednesday, March 18, 1998, at the Monterey Park Nursing Center.

Mrs. Lowe was born Aug. 13, 1900, in Jackson County, and had lived most of her life in Independence. She had been a cosmetologist for the Emery, Byrd & Thayer Co. She was a charter member of the Waldo Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Rex Lowe on March 18, 1979.

Private graveside services will be March 20, 1998, in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at D.W. Newcomer`s Sons Noland Road Chapel.

DOROTHY M. MARBLE

Dorothy Mae Marble, 85, Lebanon, Mo., died Sunday, March 1, 1998, at Balanced Care North, Lebanon.

Mrs. Marble was born April 1, 1912, in Sugar Creek and had lived in Sugar Creek until retiring and moving to Lebanon. She was a homemaker. She worked as a cook for the Kansas City School District for several years and Fairyland in Kansas City and as a housekeeper and child caregiver. She was a member of Highland Park Church of God. She was active in the Hughes Senior Citizen Center, Lebanon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyn Marble on May 23, 1989; and a daughter, Elaine Sue Marble.

Her survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Emmert, Grand Junction, Colo.; a grandson, Shane Charles, Seoul, Korea; a granddaughter, Shannon Joslin, Jacksonville, Fla.; two great-grandchildren, Billy Masman and Amber Joslin; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services were March 3 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial was in Porter Chapel cemetery.

LAWRENCE E. MAYHEW

Maxine E. Schenewerk, 87, Lexington, Mo., died Wednesday, March 18, 1998, at the Santa Fe Trail Health Care Center, Lexington.

Mrs. Schenewerk was born Feb. 19, 1911, in Lexington. She was a homemaker and a piano teacher for many years. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Lexington and a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Her survivors include a daughter, Jean Stanton, Liberty; a brother, Elton Eastham, Placerville, Calif.; two grandsons, Larry Stanton and Gary Stanton; and three great-granddaughters.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Walker-Nadler Chapel, Lexington. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery, Lexington. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the First Christian Church.
