FISCHER
William Andrew "Bill" Fischer, 69, Pine, Colo., died Oct. 9, 1999, at his home.
He was born June 23, 1930, in Cole County, a son of Freddie and Martha Jungmeyer Fischer. His mother survives in Lohman.
He graduated from Waynesville High School. An electronic engineer, he owned and operated Micro-Tech in Denver for 30 years. He was an Air Force veteran.
Other survivors include: three sons, Gary Fischer and Terry Fischer, both of Los Angeles, and Robert Fischer, Houston, Texas ; and two brothers, Ray Fischer, Richmond, Ind., and Earl Fischer, Tacoma, Wash.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Lohman. The Rev. Carl Gauck will officiate.
He was cremated.
Arrangements are under the direction of Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home.
McCABE
Billie Jean McCabe, 65, Lighthouse Point, Fla., formerly of Jefferson City, died Oct. 18, 1999, at North Broward Medical Center, Pompano Beach, Fla.
She was born Aug. 29, 1934, in Jefferson City, a daughter of William J. and Virginia E. Abbott Hoelscher. She was married to Bill McCabe, who survives at the home.
A resident of Lighthouse Point since 1970, she was a homemaker. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Pompano Beach, and Daughters of the American Revolution, Lighthouse Point.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Carla J. Walker, Oviedo, Fla.; one brother, Harvey Hoelscher, Imperial; and one granddaughter.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, near Brazito. The Rev. Jerome Brownlee will officiate.
Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Friday at Freeman Mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
GREEN
Ivy "Gene" Green, 72, Tipton, died Oct. 20, 1999, at Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital, Columbia.
He was born June 22, 1927, in St. Louis, a son of Ivy and Mary Huiett Green. His mother survives in Salem. He was married Oct. 2, 1948, in St. Louis, to Charlotte Blackwell, who survives at the home.
He was a veteran of World War II. He was an insurance agent for Minister's Life, American Family, and Metropolitan Life. He also owned and operated the Western Auto Store, Tipton. He was a member of the VFW, Columbia, the American Legion, Tipton, and the Tipton United Methodist Church. He was active with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Carolyn Imhoff, Jefferson City; three sons, David Green, Dexter, Steve Green, Tipton, and Jeffrey Green, St. Louis; two sisters, Violet Eatherton, St. Peter's, Fla., and June Nash, Salem; one brother, Glenn Green, Salem; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Tipton United Methodist Church. The Rev. Janet Kohler will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Conn Funeral Home, Tipton.
Memorials are suggested to Tipton Masonic Cemetery, the Girl Scouts or Tipton United Methodist Church.
HACKMANN
Wilbert H. "Hack" Hackmann, 81, Linn, died Oct. 21, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born Oct. 2, 1918, in Chamois, a son of William and Clara Schmidt Hackmann. He was married March 2, 1946, in Champaign, Ill., to Elizabeth "Amy" Wilson, who survives.
A lifelong Osage County resident, he attended Morrison schools. He was an Army veteran of World War II and shop foreman for Knollmeyer Motors, Linn. He also taught auto body repair at Linn State Technical College. He was a member of St. George Church and VFW Post 4756, both in Linn.
Other survivors include: two sons, Russell W. Hackmann, Holts Summit, and Kenneth R. Hackmann, Linn; three brothers, Harvey Hackmann, Morrison, Vernon Hackmann, Hermann, and William Hackmann, Linn; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. George Church. The Rev. Gregory Meystrik will officiate. Burial will be in St. George Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today at Morton Funeral Home, Linn, with a prayer service at 8:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
LaBOO
Services were today for Joseph LaBoo, 68, Hannibal, who died Oct. 21, 1999, at Levering Regional Healthcare Center, Hannibal.
He was born Dec. 31, 1930, in St. Louis, a son of Joseph F. and Elizabeth Koeln LaBoo.
He was employed by Goodwill Industries.
Survivors include one sister, Florence Little, and one brother, Marvin LaBoo, both of Jennings.
Graveside services were held in Longview Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.
PORTER
Kenneth D. Porter, 77, High Point, died Oct. 21, 1999, at his home.
He was born Jan. 26, 1922, near High Point, a son of William H. and Blanche Mae Bilyeu Porter. He was married Jan. 26, 1945, in Moultrie, Ga., to Lucille Rohrbach, who survives at the home.
A lifelong farmer, he also did custom work and owned Porter's Produce in High Point. He attended Sunnyside School and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member, deacon and past Sunday school teacher at Corticelli Baptist Church, Corticelli.
Other survivors include: three sons, Kenneth Leroy Porter, Dwayne Alden Porter and Jerry Dean Porter, all of High Point; three daughters, Dianna Ruth Robnett, Viburnum, Janet Ilene Allen, High Point, and Marla Jean Amos, Russellville; two brothers, Cecil Porter, Pilot Grove, and Melvin Porter, Russellville; seven sisters, Ruby Kusgen, Blackwater, Linnie Dutcher, Russellville, Elsie Hohman, Kansas City, June Rose Kline, Tipton, Opal Mae Ellison, Hallsville, Dorothy Russell, Aurora, and Decima Jane Reimler, California; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
One grandson preceded him in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Corticelli Baptist Church. The Rev. Willard Zeiser and the Rev. Earl Fuller will officiate. Burial will be in High Point Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California.
Memorials are suggested to the Corticelli Baptist Church-Missions; or the High Point Renewal Association.
SLAWSON
Alva Slawson, 49, Crocker, died Oct. 20, 1999, at Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital, Columbia.
He was born April 24, 1950, in Crocker, a son of Alva and Helen Fancher Slawson. He was married Feb. 3, 1983, in Robinson, Ill., to Charlotte Johnson, who survives at the home.
He served in the Army and Marines and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America; VFW Post 4965, Crocker; a life member of Disabled American Veterans; the Missouri Corporation of Veterans; and Buckhorn Baptist Church, Buckhorn.
He worked as a cable splicer for International Tele-Communications, Inc.
Other survivors include: one son, Alva Andrew Slawson, Jacksonville, Fla.; one daughter, Lisa Erdmier, Crocker; one stepdaughter, Elsie Glosser, St. Robert; three brothers, Stephen Slawson, Bowling Green, and Fredrick Griggs and Jimmie Griggs, both of Lawrenceville, Ill.; two sisters, Laura Gulledge and Theresa Thacker, both of Lawrenceville.; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Crocker. The Rev. Larry Atkins and the Rev. Ben Woody will officiate. Burial will be in Madden Ford Cemetery, Crocker.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.
Memorials are suggested to the Alva Slawson Memorial Fund.
TREMAIN
Elmer E. Tremain, 74, Lawrence, Kan., formerly of Jefferson City, died Oct. 20, 1999, at his home.
He was born May 11, 1925, in Jefferson City, a son of Clarence E. and Alma R. Boyce Tremain. His mother survives in Jefferson City. He was married Nov. 17, 1946, in Jefferson City, to Mary L. Nichols.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Alford-Clarke VFW Post 852, Lawrence; Dorsey-Liberty American Legion Post 14, Lawrence; and Mount Oread Aerie 309 FOE. He was a lab technician for FMC, Lawrence, and had worked in the restaurant business in Jefferson City.
Survivors include: one daughter, Judy Tremian, Lawrence; two sons, Dale Tremain, St. Paul, Minn., and Michael Tremain, Kansas City; one sister, Marlene Bussard, Tucson, Ariz.; one brother, Richard Tremain, Jefferson City; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Warren McElwain Mortuary, Lawrence. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens, Jefferson City.
Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. today.
