Liles V. Laverne

Laverne V. Liles, age 84, of Stover, passed away Wednesday evening, March 9, 2005 at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. She was born December 25, 1920 at Trout, Louisiana, the daughter of Robert G. and Ollie Temple Colvin. She was united in marriage on February 1, 1941 with Lee R. Liles, who survives of the home. Mrs. Liles was a homemaker and member of Lakeview Baptist Church in the Ivy Bend Community near Stover. In addition to her husband she is survived by two sons, David Ralph Liles of Mount Joliet, Tennessee, and Robert Simon Liles of Hampton, Tennessee; one daughter, Helen Joyce Buttrum of Odessa, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 14, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with Rev. Tony Shaw officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Missouri State Veterans cemetery in Higginsville. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Lakeview Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

Lindquist Barrow "Dee" Dianne

Dianne “Dee” Barrow-Lindquist, age 63, of Sunrise Beach, passed away Wednesday morning, September 22, 2004, at her home. She was born May 1, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Dale D. and Mary McClure Doty. Dianne was a Licensed Practical Nurse for Osage Beach Health Care and Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach. She was a member of Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church in Laurie, a member of the Christian Women’s Club, Kent Clowns for Jesus, Laurie Senior Citizens, a Shepherd for the Crisis Pregnancy Center, and Past President of the Cook County South Chapter AA of Medical Assistants. Survivors include her husband Stanley L. Lindquist of the home; one daughter, Lisa Zeman and husband Jim of Oshkosh, WI; three step-sons, Charles Barrow of Blue Springs, MO, David Barrow of Independence, MO, and David Lindquist of Moline, IL; one step-daughter, April Enke of Linn, MO; and two grandchildren, Rachel and Jarod Zeman of Oshkosh, WI. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 9, 2004, at the Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church in Laurie with Reverend Rick White and Bart Larson officiating. Intombment will be in the Garber Memorial Estates Columbarium in Laurie. Memorials are suggested to the Missouri River Hospice or Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie.

Lindsey Leo

Leo Joe Lindsey, age 70, of Versailles, passed away Friday evening, December 13, 2002 at his home. He was born July 30, 1932 in Lourens, Iowa, the son of Charles Clarence and Mary Emily Russell Lindsey. He was united in marriage on March 16, 1991 in Wentzville, Missouri with Karen Elaine Bushart Kershner. Mr. Lindsey worked in marketing and sales, and was a member of the Philadelphia Church of God. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Karen Lindsey of the home; two sons, four daughters, five step sons, one sister, 15 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son. Military Honors and Graveside services were at 2:30 P.M. Wednesday, December 18, 2002 at the Missouri Veterans cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri. Arrangements were under the care and direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

Litwiller Anna Mary
October 5, 2003

Mary Anna Benner Litwiller was born on December 1, 1924 to Jonathan and Ellen Mae Temple Benner at Quakertown, Pennsylvania. She peacefully passed away on October 5, 2003 at Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles, Missouri, at the age of 78 years. She spent her childhood in Pennsylvania until she moved with her parents to Ithaca, Michigan in 1940 when she was 15 years old. Here she was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. To those vows she remained faithful. On December 15, 1946 mother was united in marriage to Laurence Litwiller, sharing life’s joys and sorrows for 51 years until our fathers passing. God blessed their home with 7 sons and 1 daughter. In September of 1974 our parents moved from Michigan to Versailles, Missouri. Our memories of Mother are of her modest ways and she was always polite and considerate of others. Mother was a caring person with a sweet disposition, whose faith and trust in God was an encouragement to us. She carried a concern for her family and at times we would find her in earnest prayer. Mother was ready to ask forgiveness when she failed. She loved to sing and especially enjoyed songs of Heaven. Those cherishing precious memories are seven sons: Terence & wife Wanda, Wilmore, Kansas; Rodney & wife Lois, Linden & wife Linette, and Mark & wife Rachel, all of Versailles, Missouri; Roger & wife Barb, and Dennis, Ithaca, Michigan; Martin & wife Arlene, Newbern, Alabama; one daughter, Kathleen & husband Doug Wesenberg, Ithaca, Michigan; twenty-three grandchildren; three brothers, John & wife Anita Benner, Manheim, Pennsylvania; David & wife Ruth Benner, St. Johns, Michigan; Dick & wife Sundy, Atmore, Alabama; two sisters, Esther & husband Isaiah Wilson, St. Johns, Michigan; and Sarah & husband Robert Litwiller, Ithaca, Michigan; and two sisters-in-law, Maxine Benner, Middleton, Michigan, and Dorothy Benner, Newbern, Alabama. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, three brothers, one sister, and one sister-in-law. Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, at Beulah Mennonite Church near Versailles, with Ministers Melvin Koehn, Ron Hauder and Stanton Unruh officiating. Interment was in the Beulah Mennonite cemetery. Casketbearers were Terry Litwiller, Rodney Litwiller, Roger Litwiller, Linden Litwiller, Martin Litwiller and Mark Litwiller. Arrangements were under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

Lochiatto Florence

Florence Lochiatto, age 101, of Versailles, Mo passed away Friday, March 4, 2005 at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. She was born December 7, 1903 in Berlin, New Hampshire, the daughter of the late Thomas and Ella Oxford. She was united in marriage to Ernie Lochiatto who preceded her in death. Mrs. Lochiatto owned and operated a lodge and hotel, was of the Catholic faith and went to school at Berlin High School. She is survived by two grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one son Eddie Oxford, one brother Edward and one sister Bertha. Graveside memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 26, 2005 at the Ivy cemetery in Gravois Mills with Reverend Danny Owsley officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

Longstreet McIntyre Genevieve
September 3, 2003

Genevieve McIntyre Longstreet, age 72, of Stover, passed away Wednesday evening, September 3, 2003 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach. She was born September 1, 1931 in Miami County, Kansas, the daughter of Opal McCoy. She was a labor for Certain T Roofing. She was a member of the Lake View Baptist Church and loved playing bingo. She is survived by one daughter; Barbara Reeds and husband, Robert of Ivy Bend; two grandchildren Sara McIntyre and Nicole Reeds; one nephew Harvey Moore and wife, Carrol of Liberty, Missouri many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister Ellen May Grapes. Memorial Service will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 6, 2003 at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral home in Versailles. Mrs. Longstreet was cremated. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

Loucks, Harold C.

Harold C. Loucks, age 76, of Gravois Mills, passed away Saturday morning, October 1, 2005 at his home. He was born June 1, 1929 in Ainsworth, Nebraska, the son of Earl C. and Alice Chaplin Loucks. He was united in marriage on May 26, 1954 in Newfoundland, Canada, with Phyllis Collett, who preceded him in death. Mr. Loucks worked for Burlington Northern Railroad and retired as Regional Manager of Labor Relations in Denver. He was a U.S. Army/Navy veteran, member of the Osage Community Elks Lodge #2705 in Laurie, the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Shrine Club, and the American Legion. He is survived by one son, Larry Loucks of Hastings, Nebraska; one granddaughter, Payton Loucks of Hastings, Nebraska; one brother, one sister, many other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held at a later date at the Osage Community Elks Lodge in Laurie. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

Janicke E. Nadine

Nadine E. Janicke, age 90, of Sunrise Beach, passed away Friday morning, March 11, 2005 at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. She was born August 25, 1914 in Camden County, Missouri, the daughter of George and Florence Skuckey Depew. She was united in marriage on October 2, 1940 with Elmer Otto Janicke, who preceded her in death on December 20, 1989. Mrs. Janicke graduated from Oak Hill High School and was a homemaker. She is survived by one son, Vernon Wayne Janicke of Camdenton; one daughter, Florence Evadine Janicke of Vandalia, and many friends. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie-Sunrise Beach Chapel in Laurie, with Pastor Ray Powell officiating. Interment was in the Rockdale cemetery near Sunrise Beach. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie.

Jansen W. Douglas

Douglas W. Jansen, age 26, of Gravois Mills, passed away Sunday morning, June 26, 2005 at the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born May 9, 1979 in South St. Paul, Minnesota, the son of Paul A. and Susan E. Olson Jansen. He was a 1997 graduate of Morgan County R-II High School in Versailles, and a 1998 graduate of the Lake Area Vocational Technical School where he studied marine technology. He worked for various marinas in the Lake area and then in Mandeville, Louisiana, before returning to Gravois Mills. He was presently running the family motel, Drop Anchor Resort and Motel in Gravois Mills. He is survived by his parents, Paul A. and Susan E. Jansen of Gravois Mills; one brother, Jeffrey Jansen of Yorktown, Virginia; two uncles, Norbert of St. Louis, and Steve Olson and family of Miami, Florida; one nephew, Patrick of Versailles, and five cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Helen Jansen, and Jack and Doris Olson. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 30, at the St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Versailles, with Father C.D. Ryan officiating. Interment will be in the St. Patrick cemetery in Laurie. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

Jantz Allen Reuben

Reuben Allen Jantz, age 90, of Montezuma, Kansas and former Stover resident, passed away Sunday, October 3, 2004 at Bethel Home Inc. in Montezuma, Kansas, where he had been a resident since February of 2001. He was born March 24, 1919 at Montezuma, Kansas, the son of Henry T. and Lena (Jantz) Jantz. He married Barbara Jane Lea on October 8, 1935 at Sublette, Kansas. He lived in Livingston, California for fifty years, then they moved to Ulysses, Kansas and lived there six years, then moved to Stover, Missouri and later to Montezuma, Kansas. He was a member of the Church of God In Christ Mennonite. Survivors include his wife, Barbara J. Jantz, Montezuma, KS,; three sons, Paul Jantz, Ulysses, KS, Jerry Jantz and wife Judith, Atwater, CA., and Donald Jantz and wife Sheila, Ballico, CA.; two daughters, Kathryn Buller and husband Don, Columbia, MO, Charlotte Koehn and husband Leonard, Florence, MO.; 19 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son Victor Jantz, daughter-in-law Sharon Sanders Jantz, 4 grandchildren, 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 8, at Oakridge Mennonite Church near Florence. Interment will be in the Oakridge Mennonite cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday at the Church. A memorial has been established for the Bethel Home, Inc. in Montezuma, Kansas. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

Jenkins Joy Donita

Donita Joy Jenkins, age 71, of Gravois Mills, MO, passed away Monday morning, May 16, 2005 at her home. She was born April 30, 1934 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Parker and Berneta Shields Sweet. She is survived by her husband of the home Jack Jenkins; two sons, Ron Jenkins and Jim Jenkins of Independence, MO; one daughter, Penny Jenkins of Kansas City, MO; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 20, 2005 at the Carson-Speaks Funeral Home in Independence, MO. Interment will be in the Mt. Olivet cemetery in Kansas City, MO. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie. A second visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, May 19, 2005 at the Carson-Speaks Funeral Home in Independence, MO. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie.

JERRY L. JONES

Master Sergeant Jerry L. Jones, age 83, of Sunrise Beach, formerly of Sedalia, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2004, at the Laurie Care Center in Laurie. He was born August 14, 1921, in Longview, Texas. He was united in marriage on May 13, 1998, in Sunrise Beach, with Dorothy Meyers, who survives of the home. Master Sergeant Jones was a U.S. Air Force veteran of WWII, and was a member of the Elks Lodge #125, VFW, and the American Legion in Sedalia. Jerry was a very special person and will be sadly missed by those who knew him. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a special niece, Theresa Buchholtz and her husband Dean of Independence, MO; and several other nieces and nephews relatives and friends. There are no memorial services planned at this time. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie.

JOHN EDWARD DAYTON

John Edward Dayton, age 94, of Versailles, passed away Tuesday morning, July 26, 2005, at his daughter’s home in Versailles. He was born March 3, 1911, in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Joseph Hurley and Connie McNeese Dayton. He was united in marriage on October 3, 1929, with Mary Elizabeth Cross who preceded him in death on January 23, 2004. John was a retired carpenter who loved hunting and fishing. He is survived by his four daughters, Mary Ann Coleman, Patty Colburtson, and Shirley Brown all of Versailles, and Wanda Weaver of Stover; twelve grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother Fred Dayton, and one sister Myrtle Bredson. There are no memorial services planned at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

Johnson "Wally" Wallace

Wallace “Wally” Johnson, age 76 of Sunrise Beach passed away Friday, March 11, 2005 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach. He was born March 23, 1928 in Essex, Iowa, the son of the late Reuben and Mae Royer Johnson. Wally was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Tokyo, Japan. He started his life in Essex Iowa and lived there until 1954. He then married Elaine Franzen on June 20, 1954 and they moved to Red Oak, Iowa, where he lived from 1954 to 1969. They moved to Tucson, Arizona and La Serena, Chile in South America where Wally worked for AURA. Wally was an avid hunter, fisher and loved to read. He was a member of Friends of God Unity Church in Sunrise Beach, owned and operated Johnson Construction for 45 years and The Gun Shop for 10 years. Wally is survived by his wife, Elaine Johnson of the home; one son Chris Johnson of Sunrise Beach; one daughter, Stacey Johnson and partner Tommy Dohogne of Vallejo, California; one brother Raymond Johnson and wife Marianna of Red Oak, Iowa; one sister Marvis Harms of Red Oak, Iowa and one sister-in-law Leona Johnson of Red Oak, Iowa; many other relatives and friends. A celebration of life will be at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie with Reverend Jim Rosemergy officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Friends of God Unity Church building fund. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie-Sunrise Beach Chapel.

Johnson G. Ethel

Ethel Geneva Johnson, 96, of Gravois Mills, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. She was born Oct. 2, 1906, in Oakland, Neb., a daughter of Emil and Christina Lindstead Johnson. On March 20, 1929, in Pender, Neb., she was married to Paul Herman Johnson, who died Feb. 19, 1989. Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker. She was a member of Kent Memorial Lutheran Church in Sunrise Beach. Surviving are two sons, Richard P. Johnson of Gravois Mills and Stanley C. Johnson of Leavenworth, Kan.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Greenmore Memorial Gardens cemetery in Barnett with the Rev. Eugene Moll officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles.

Johnson Lee Francis II

Francis Lee Johnson II, age 52, of Kansas City, formerly of Versailles, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at his home. He was born May 12, 1953 in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Francis Lee and Ellen B. Laughead Johnson. He lived in Versailles most of his life and attended Morgan County R-II Schools, and later attended UMKC and received a degree. He worked for the Jackson County Public Administrators Office. He is survived by one sister, Carol Bradford of Columbia; his cousin, Jim Pendergraft of Versailles; nieces and nephews Katherine N. Forrest of Columbia, Lee Diekroeger of Jefferson City, Lori Ann Pendergraft and Brian Pendergraft, and their siblings; and one aunt, Janine Laughead of Falmouth, Massachusetts and her siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents, one aunt Carol Pendergraft, and grandmother Caroline Laughead. Graveside services and interment will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the Versailles cemetery, with Scott Williams officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
