James Aycock
DEXTER - James Aycock, 67, of Dexter died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, at his residence.

Yvette Matlock
Yvette B. Matlock, 48, of Ypsilanti, Mich., a former resident of Poplar Bluff, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, at her residence.
Ms. Matlock was born March 24, 1953, in St. Louis and was a member of St. Mary's Missionary Baptist Church in Ypsilanti. She was a line-worker at Ford Motor Company in Michigan and enjoyed cooking, bowling and singing.
Survivors include one daughter, Tracy Smith of Poplar Bluff; two sons, Andre Matlock and Eric Matlock, both of Poplar Bluff; seven grandchildren; her parents, Clifton and Katherine Reed of Poplar Bluff; five brothers, Gary Matlock of Modesto, Calif., Danny Reed and Clifton Clyde Reed, both of Poplar Bluff, Clarence Reed and Michael Eugene Reed, both of Ypsilanti; two sisters, Betty Williams and Janice Smith, both of Poplar Bluff; and her grandmother, Ruth Pritchett of Poplar Bluff.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Phillip Hood officiating. Burial will be in the City cemetery.
Ola V. Crapo
DONIPHAN - Ola V. Crapo, 95, of Doniphan died Monday, Aug. 21, 2000, in the Ripley County Memorial Hospital.
She was born on Jan. 23, 1905, in Gatewood. She was a lifetime resident of Oregon and Ripley Counties, and was of the Pentecostal faith.
On Sept. 24, 1926, she married
Claude E. Crapo in Gatewood. He preceded her in death in 1969.
Survivors include two daughters, Robertha Newman of St. Charles, and Ruthie Newman of Madison, Tenn.; one son, Irvin Crapo of Doniphan; two brothers, George Reed of Myrtle and Troy Reed of Gatewood; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Liberty cemetery.
Dorothy Bess
DEXTER - Dorothy Lee Bess, 77, of Dexter, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at the Dexter Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Bess was born Oct. 17, 1923, in Dexter. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dexter, the Dexter Memorial Hospital Ladies' Auxiliary, Eastern Star and was a homemaker.
On Oct. 13, 1942, she married
Andrew Bess in Bloomfield. He survives.
Other survivors include one son, Ronald Bess of Bolivar; one daughter, Andrea Hitt of Enid, Okla.; one sister, Bobbie Brown of Florida; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Rainey Funeral Home in Dexter. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Kevin Chenoweth officiating. Burial will follow in the Bloomfield cemetery.
Joseph Harris
Joseph "Joe" E. "Gene" Harris, 69, of Poplar Bluff died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Mr. Harris was born March 27, 1932, in Blytheville, Ark. He was of the Baptist faith and retired in 1994 as a salesman from Pack's Building Supply. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force and National Guard, serving in the Korean War. His hobbies were woodworking and fishing.
On June 25, 1965, he married
Bama Helms in Blytheville. She survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Sherry Devine of Burlington, N.J., Donna Stokes of Hartsville, S.C., Peggy Boyd of Poplar Bluff and Linda McAcberns of Holly, Mich.; two sons, Michael Harris of Pensacola, Fla. and James Thomason of Flushing, Mich.; two brothers, Woodrow Harris of San Antonio, Texas and Charles Harris of Dumas, Ark.; one sister, Shirley Gordon of Blytheville; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jack Beardon officiating. Burial will be in the Poplar Bluff City cemetery.
Evelyn Nored
QULIN - Evelyn Nored, 88, of Puxico died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at the Dexter Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Nored was born Oct. 28, 1913, in Clarkton. She had resided in Qulin for most of her life before moving to Puxico six months ago. She was affiliated with the Qulin Church of Christ. She was a homemaker and had been a bookkeeper for the Poplar Bluff branch of Pyramid Insurance Company for 22 years.
On Nov. 30, 1929, she married
Buel E. Davis. He preceded her in death Oct. 30, 1944. She then married
Warren Nored in 1950. He preceded her in death in June 1988.
Survivors include two sons, Duane Davis of Poplar Bluff and Carl A. Davis of Arab, Ala.; and two grandchildren, Buel Lee Davis of Arab and Patty Thornberry of Albertsville, Ala.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Jean Davis.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday at the White-Sanders Funeral Home in Qulin. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home chapel with Freeman Mahan officiating. Burial will be in the Brown Chapel cemetery.
Thomas N. Dinkins
Thomas N. Dinkins, 90, of Cape Girardeau, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
Mr. Dinkins was born Sept. 30, 1910, in Annapolis. He was employed as a chemist assistant II with Monsanto Chemical Co. and served in the U.S. Navy as a Chief Bosun Mate during World War II.
On June 20, 1936, he married
Marie Schneider in Waterloo, Ill. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include two brothers, John Dinkins of Piedmont and Roy Dinkins of Benton, Ill.; and one sister, Marjorie Smith of Fort Worth, Texas.
Clytee Pruett
CAMPBELL - Clytee Pruett, 90, of Kennett died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at the Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Mrs. Pruett was born June 6, 1911, in Blue Springs, Miss. She was a former resident of Holcomb and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Holcomb. She was a housewife and a retired Holcomb school cafeteria worker.
On April 20, 1946, she married
Rodney Pruett in Green Castle, Ind. He preceded her in death Sept. 3, 1971.
Survivors include one son, Phil Pruett of Parriat, Costa Rica; two sisters, Nannie Lou Bishop of Sikeston and Byrdia Marin of Sarasota; and two grandchildren.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. today at the Stanfield cemetery in Clarkton with the Rev. Randy Vaughn officiating. Landess Funeral Home in Campbell is in charge of arrangements.
Elmer A. Kurz
Elmer Arthur Kurz, 92, of Poplar Bluff, died Monday, Jan 15, 2001, at Westwood Hills Healthcare Center.

Mary Martin
BERNIE - Mary Martin, 54, of Bernie died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, at Three Rivers Healthcare-North Campus in Poplar Bluff.

Wilma Rice
CORNING, Ark. - Wilma Rice, 58, of North Little Rock, Ark., died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at her residence.
Ms. Rice was born Feb. 4, 1943, in Pocahontas, Ark. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include one daughter, Kim Ward of North Little Rock; two sons, Kevin Rice of North Little Rock and Mike Rice of Rector, Ark.; four sisters, Rose Shipley of Lynn Creek, Billie Sue Holland of St. Charles, Florence White of Warm Springs, Ark., and Linda Crawford of Eureka; two brothers, Glen Kirby of Biggers, Ark., and Jerry D. Kirby of Knobel, Ark.; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in the Nelson cemetery in Reyno, Ark.
Verlin H. Melton
CAMPBELL - Verlin H. "Buddy" Melton, 75, of Qulin, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at the St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis.
Mr. Melton was born May 5, 1925, in Broseley and was affiliated with the Baptist faith. He was a retired farmer, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Post 494 in Qulin and the Veterans Honor Guard of Poplar Bluff.
He was married
to Flossie Goodman. She preceded him in death April 7, 1978.
Survivors include two sons, Todd Kelly of Qulin and Jeff Kelly of Bloomington, Ill.; two brothers, Ernest Melton of St. Louis and Jimmy Melton of Poplar Bluff; two sisters, Millie Hagner and Alpha Blake, both of St. Louis; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Landess Funeral Chapel in Campbell. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Allen Leuterter officiating. Burial will be in the Qulin cemetery in Qulin.
