Charlotte Kay Denney
Chillicothe, Mo. - Charlotte Kay Denney, 66, a resident of Lawson, Mo., died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009 at Liberty Terrace Healthcare.
Charlotte was born on Sept. 26, 1942, the daughter of J.D. Sockey and Yuma Sockey. She married Franklin D. Denney on Feb. 26, 1976.
Mrs. Denney worked as a waitress for the Herford Grill for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Graveside services will be held at the Black Oak cemetery, Braymer, Mo., Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009 at 11 a.m. There is no scheduled family visitation. Burial will be in Black Oak cemetery, Braymer, Mo.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Mo.

Rev. Kenneth “K.W.” Peery
Chillicothe, Mo. - Rev. Kenneth “K.W.” Peery, 93, of Moberly, Mo., died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009 at Moberly Nursing and Rehab, Moberly, Mo.
Rev. Peery was born Nov. 15, 1915, the son of Willis V. and Margaret Mae (Aley) Peery. He married Clara Maye Cooper on Nov. 15, 1944 in Kansas. She survives.
He graduated from Gilman City High School and attended William Jewell College, Southwest Baptist University and Kirksville State Teachers College and received a Certificate of Pastoral Training through seminary.
Rev. Peery ministered at various Missouri Baptist churches, most notably, Laredo Baptist Church for 21 years, Yellow Creek Baptist Church near Green City for 13 years and Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Ash for 25 years.
Rev. Peery is survived by a son, Willis Peery; a granddaughter; a great-granddaughter; half-sister, Willia Gwinn, St. Joseph, Mo.; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Services will be held on Monday, Feb. 2, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Cater Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Oakland cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Cater Funeral Home, Moberly, Mo.
Memorials may be made to the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home.

Geanetta Uniece Weidner
Chillicothe, Mo. - Geanetta Uniece Weidner, age 91, of Bogard, Mo., died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009 at the home of her daughter in Chillicothe, Mo.
Geanetta was born March 20, 1917 in Bosworth, Mo., the daughter of John William and Eva Anna (Vincent) Sturgeon. On Jan. 2, 1934 she married Charlie R. Weidner in Carrollton, Mo. He preceded her in death on July 8, 1982.
She attended East Fairview Grade School and Bosworth High School.
Geanetta had been a member of the PTA when her children were in school at Bogard. She was a member of the Mound Homemakers Extension Club. She had worked and lived on the farm with her husband.
Geanetta is survived by four children, Juanita A. Cain and husband Eldon, Carrollton, Mo., Donald R. Weidner and wife Wanda, Tina, Mo., Margaret L. Houseworth and husband Harry, Chillicothe, Mo., Lloyd C. Weidner and wife Betty, Bogard, Mo.; twelve grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, John Gilbert, William Edison, Thomas Russell, and Verl Owen Sturgeon.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009 at Ebenezer cemetery, Bogard, Mo., at 11 a.m. with Rev. Martin Brooke officiating.
The family suggests contributions be made to the Bogard Fire Department in memory of Geanetta. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.
Arrangements are under the direction of Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Mo.

Joseph A. Barker
Joseph A. Barker, 86, a resident of Chillicothe, Mo., died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009 at Hedrick Medical Center, Chillicothe, Mo.
Joseph was born Feb. 23, 1922 in Tolona, Mo., the son of Mernice and Nora (Ellis) Barker. He married Iona M. McCormick in Fairfield, Iowa on Aug. 15, 1947. She preceded him in death on Aug. 26, 2004.
He was a 1940 graduate of Keosauqua High School, a 1948 graduate of Parsons College and a 1954 graduate of Drake University.
Joe served in the United States Navy from 1942 until 1946. He worked as a teacher and school administrator in various Iowa school districts until his retirement. He was a member of the Masons for 50 years, the Eastern Star, American Legion, and the United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Mo.
Survivors include two sons, Rick Barker and wife Betty, Topeka, Kan., and Mahlon Barker and wife Sandy, Dallas Center, Iowa; two daughters, Cathy Wombwell and husband Glenn, Marceline, Mo., and Marti Miller and husband Mike, Chillicothe, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Barker, Keosauqua, Iowa and Lela Barker, Douds, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Iona; three sisters, Hazel, Maxine and Jenny; and two brothers, Ellis and Bill.
A memorial service with Masonic Rites will be held at Pedrick and Son Funeral Home, Keosauqua, Iowa, on Monday, Feb. 2, 2009 at 10 a.m. The family will hold visitation for an hour prior to the service. Burial with Military Rites will be held at Memorial Lawn cemetery, Fairfield, Iowa following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Beer-Barker American Legion Post 113, Keosauqua, Iowa and/or the Celestial Lodge #413, Douds, Iowa and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.

Pauline F. (Evans) Jennings
Chillicothe, Mo. - Pauline F. (Evans) Jennings, of St. Charles, Mo., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009; beloved wife of the late Harvey T. Jennings. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver C. and Olive Walker Evans of Dawn, Mo.; sisters, Mary Edith Evans, Emeline Evans, Evelyn Maxine Evans and Dorene McCann and brother, Marvin L. Evans. She is survived by her sister, Margaret V. Jones, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Jennings’ roots were firmly planted in 1881 in Dawn, Mo., by her grandparents, David M. and Margaret Evans, who emigrated from Wales. Mrs. Jennings was born in 1918 at the family home in Dawn. She graduated from Dawn High School in 1936 and moved to St. Louis, Mo. Her marriage to Air Force Sgt. Harvey T. (Bud) Jennings took her from Maine to California. Mrs. Jennings was known for her dry wit, a trait that can be traced to her Welsh ancestry.
Graveside services will be held at the Welsh cemetery in Dawn, Mo., Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009 at 1 p.m. There is no scheduled family visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Welsh cemetery, and may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.

Mary Stottlemyre
Chillicothe, Mo. - Former Trenton, Missouri resident, Mary Stottlemyre, 92, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009 at The Baptist Home in Chillicothe, Mo.
Mary was born March 17, 1916 in Chillicothe, Mo., daughter of Mark and Carrie Williams White. On Sept. 20, 1934 she married Gerald Stottlemyre in Trenton, Mo. He preceded her in death March 28, 2005. They farmed east of Spickard, Mo. In the early 1980’s they moved to Trenton, Mo. After Gerald’s death, Mary moved to The Baptist Home in Chillicothe, Mo., where she has resided since.
Mrs. Stottlemyre was very active with the Baptist Church, teaching bible school and Sunday school.
Surviving relatives include her son Jerry Stottlemyre and wife Virginia, Spickard, Mo., two granddaughters, Dennise Saey and husband Tom, Chesterfield, Mo., and Denette Krause and husband Gene, Maryland Heights, Mo., as well as six great grandchildren; Nikki, Emily, Tommy and Molly Saey, and Kirsten and Eric Krause.
Those preceding her in death include her parents, husband, a brother Jim White and a sister Pearl Hart.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Trenton, Mo. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens of Trenton, Mo. A visitation is scheduled for 7 to 8 Saturday evening at Resthaven Mortuary in Trenton, Mo.
Memorial contributions are suggested to The Baptist Home, the First Baptist Church or Hedrick Home Care Hospice and may be left with the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Mortuary, Trenton, Mo.

Margaret Jean Bermond
Chillicothe, Mo. - Margaret Jean Bermond, 93, of Chillicothe, Mo., died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009 at her home.
Margaret was born Dec. 4, 1915 in Berthoud, N.D., the daughter of Charles and Pearl (Rose) Feldman. She married Lloyd K. Bermond on June 21, 1936 in St. Joseph, Mo. He preceded her in death on Sept. 30, 2001.
Margaret moved to Chillicothe, Mo., in 2002 from Independence, Mo. While living in Independence, Mo., she was employed as a clerk at Montgomery Wards. She attended the First Christian Church, Independence, Mo. Margaret was 1934 graduate of Stanberry High School. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, Lloyd Bermond, Holt, Mo.; one daughter, Marilyn Enyeart and husband Robert, Breckenridge, Mo.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, George and Warren.
There will be a Committal Service at 1 p.m. at the Mausoleum at St. Joseph Memorial Park cemetery, St. Joseph, Mo., on Friday, Jan. 23, 2009. A family visitation will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23, 2009 at the Mausoleum in St. Joseph Memorial Park cemetery, St. Joseph, Mo. Friends may call from 12 to 9 p.m. at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo., on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009.
Funeral services are under the direction of Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo.

William “Bill” Gray
Chillicothe, Mo. - William “Bill” Gray, 89, a lifelong resident of Chillicothe, Mo., died at his residence on Friday, July 24, 2009.
He was born Dec. 31, 1919 in Livingston County, Mo., the son of Allen and Rose (Mattingly) Gray. He was married to Ethel Lamp. On July 22, 1951 he married Ruth Warren Roberts in Brookfield, Mo. Ruth lives in Chillicothe, Mo.
William spent his lifetime driving trucks, hauling livestock and grain for local farmers and cattle buyers as Gray Trucking until he was 86-years-old. He was an Army veteran of World War II where he was a truck driver in Normandy, Rhineland, and North France campaigns. He received the EAME ribbon, three battle stars and the Purple Heart.
He is survived by two sons, Edward D. Gray and wife Cheri, Chillicothe, Mo., and William D. Gray and wife Chris, Utica, Mo.; one step-son, Robert Roberts and wife Linda, Ferguson, Iowa; three daughters, Rosalee Jane Rentz and husband Phil, Vista, Calif., Marilyn Sue Apel and husband Jim, Ann Harbor, Mich., and Sherry Wood and husband David, Green Bay, Wis.; 23 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, infant William Lee and Stanley Allen; brothers, Berrymore, Woodrow, Robert and John; sisters, Lillian and Mayme; step-brothers, William D., Albert, Earl, Burlin; and step-sisters, Martha, Olivia and Mae Dalh.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo. There will be a family visitation on Monday, July 27, 2009 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo. Friends may call from 4 until 9 p.m. on Monday and from 8 a.m. until service time on Tuesday. Burial will be in Edgewood cemetery, Chillicothe, Mo.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bill Gray Memorial Fund and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Mo.

Olga R. Knight
Chillicothe, Mo. - Olga R. Knight, 86, a resident of Chillicothe, Mo., died Monday, Jan. 19, 2009 at Livingston Manor, Chillicothe, Mo.
Olga was born May 17, 1922 in in Powersville, Mo., the daughter of Fleet and Maratha E. (Van Dyke) Knight.
She is survived by one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Goldina Moler.
Graveside services will be held at Unionville cemetery, Unionville, Mo., Friday, Jan. 23, 2009 at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Unionville cemetery, Unionville, Mo.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo.

Buddy Lee (Bud) Shull
Chillicothe, Mo. - Buddy Lee (Bud) Shull, 74, a lifelong resident of Hale, Mo., died Monday, Jan. 19, 2009 at Hedrick Medical Center, Chillicothe, Mo., surrounded by his family.
Bud was born May 28, 1934 in Hale, Mo., the son of Elmo and Margaret O’Dell Shull. He married Donna Colliver in Carrollton, Mo., on Nov. 13, 1950.
Mr. Shull worked for Motor Supply from 1951 until 1969. In 1969 he opened Bud Shull Chevrolet-Oldsmobile in Brunswick, Mo., which he owned for 33 years until his retirement in 2002.
Bud was a member of the Hale Lions Club, the Hale City Masonic Lodge Number 216 of Hale, Mo., and the Ararat Shrine Club of Kansas City, Mo.
Bud enjoyed spending his free time with family and friends at the Lake of the Ozarks where he spent many hours relaxing on his deck watching the boats go by.
He is survived by his wife, Donna, of the home; one daughter, Betty Englert and son-in-law Jerry, Hale, Mo.; four grandchildren, Brian, Melissa, Scott and Kelley Englert, Chillicothe, Mo.; four great-grandchildren, Andrew, Myra, Isabella and Addison Englert, all of Chillicothe, Mo.; one sister, Maxine Howard and husband Jerry, Carrollton, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Joy Shull, Bill Shull and Gayle Shull; and one sister, Mary Lou Griffin.
Services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at the Lindley Funeral Home, Hale, Mo. Friends may call from 12 noon until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009 at the funeral home and until service time on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009. There will be a family visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the Lindley Funeral Home, Hale, Mo. Burial will be in the Hale Memory Gardens, Hale, Mo.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wyatt House for Cancer Patient Families, Columbia, Mo., or the H.E.L.P. Services for Cancer Patients of Carroll County, Mo., and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
