Carol Phipps Ingraham
The best mother and nanny in the world passed away, Jan. 13, 2010 at her home from liver failure. Carol, 80, was born in Chillicothe, Mo. on Sep. 3, 1929 to Ralph and Thelma Todd Phipps. When she was three months old they moved to Copperfield, Bingham Canyon, Utah.
She graduated from Bingham High School, where she was a Minerette. She went on to state contests, where she placed first in the typing and bookkeeping divisions. Her family then moved back to Galt, Mo., where she met Victor Ingraham. They were married Nov. 18, 1946. Vic and Carol were married for 54 years until Vic passed away, Dec. 29, 2000. They had two daughters, Vickie and Robin.
Carol started working at Pan Helenic Lendaris Market in Copperfield when she was 12 years old, and later started the first concession stand at the Princess Theater. Carol was still working at 80 years old as a card merchandiser.
She was a member of the Methodist Church, White Shrine, Eastern Star, Beta Sigma Sorority, where she was chosen “Girl of the Year”, Fact and Fiction Federated Club, Business and Professional Women, Girl Scouts, where she was Neighborhood and District Chairman for 25 years. She also served on the Missouri State Child Welfare Advisory Board.
She is survived by her daughters, Vickie Ingraham, Robin Morales (Manny); granddaughter, Jonie Ingraham; sister, Clara Mae Roach; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Vic; her parents; brothers Ralph Phipps, Jr. and Larry Phipps; and granddaughter, Joely Ingraham.
At Carol’s request, there will be no services. Interment will be at Lake Hills cemetery, Sandy, Utah.
Life will never be the same, you will always be in our hearts.

Travis Swank
Travis Swank, a 19-year-old resident of Chillicothe, Mo., died Sunday morning, Sept. 26, 2010 in Chillicothe, Mo.
He was born on Jan. 1, 1991 in Trenton, Mo., the son of Larry and Peggy Emberton Swank. He graduated from Chillicothe High School in 2010. He played football, was in the boy scouts, FFA, choir, and the fishing and hunting club.
Travis is survived by his dad, Larry Swank, Trenton, Mo.; his mother and step father, Peggy and Bill Cameron, Chillicothe, Mo.; paternal grandparents, Richard and Anna Mae Swank, Trenton, Mo.; maternal grandparents, John and Jeannie Emberton, Trenton, Mo.; an uncle, Brian Swank, Princeton, Mo.; two aunts, Meryl Summers and her husband Ronnie, of Harris and Jeri Saul and her husband, Jeff, Trenton, Mo.; seven cousins and six great-aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010 at the Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home of Trenton, Mo. Burial will be in the Maple Grove cemetery of Trenton. A scheduled visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Maple Grove cemetery and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home, 813 Custer, Trenton, MO 64683.
Arrangements are under the direction of Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home, Trenton, Mo.

Lena May Bowen
Lena May Bowen, 98, a resident of Chillicothe, Mo., died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010 at Life Care Center, Brookfield, Mo.
She was born Feb. 19, 1912 in Chillicothe, Mo., the daughter of Charles Milton and Carrie Estella (Linton) Seiberling. On March 4, 1944 she married Buel “Jerry” Bowen in Chillicothe, Mo. He preceded her in death on Feb. 24, 1959.
She was a 1929 graduate of Chillicothe High School, Chillicothe, Mo. She attended Kirksville State College, Kirksville, Mo.
She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone from 1936 until 1977. Prior to working for Southwestern Bell, she was a rural school teacher for Smith Campbell School and Swain School.
She is survived by one nephew, David Seiberling, Chillicothe, Mo.; two nieces, Martha McIntyre, Brookfield, Mo., and Carol Hirsh, Austin, Texas; several great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, George Seiberling and one sister, Edith Marie Seiberling.
Services will be held at the Liberty United Methodist Church on Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010 at 4 p.m. There is no scheduled family visitation. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010 at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo. Burial will be in Avalon cemetery, Avalon, Mo.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Liberty United Methodist Church and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo.

Anita Gay Russell
Anita Gay Russell, 65, of Kingston, Mo., died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010 at Hillcrest Manor, Hamilton, Mo., under the care of her family and Hospice Advantage of Gallatin, Mo.
Anita was born Oct. 17, 1944 in Cameron, Mo., the daughter of James Clyde Martin and Colleen Asher Martin. On July 23, 1961 she married Bobby Lee Russell in the Cameron Christian Church. He survives of the home.
Anita attended the Cameron Schools.
Anita was a waitress for several years but mostly she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Bob Russell; three sons, Randy Lee Russell, Pass Christian, Miss., Lonnie Ray Russell and wife Julie, Vale, Ariz., and James Dale Russell and wife Shelley, Kingston, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Julia Amanda Lynn, Trista LaDawn Russell, Loni Ray Russell, Brittany Jo Russell, Samantha Jolene Russell, Harold James Russell, Megan Nicole Russell, Garrett Lee Russell; a great-grandchild, Lilly Mae Lynn; four brothers, Roy Clyde Martin, Okla., Denton Martin, Cameron, Mo., Mike Martin, Cameron, Mo., and Everett Martin, Wichita, Kan.; a sister, Carol Ann Martin Swindler, La Vista, Neb.; several nieces and nephews.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Norma Jean Martin Vanderpool.
Friends may call on Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010 from 12 to 5 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Breckenridge, Mo. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010 at Kingston Baptist Church, Kingston, Mo. There will be a private funeral and burial.
Memorials in honor of Anita Russell may be made to the American Cancer Society and left at the funeral home or mailed to Heritage Funeral Home, 490 W. Main, Breckenridge, Mo.

Doris Myers
Doris Myers, 72, Kansas City, MO passed away August 19, 2012 at home. A visitation will be from 10 AM – 12 PM, Friday, August 24, 2012 at Heartland Cremation and Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, MO 64133. A graveside service will follow the visitation and be held Friday, at 2:30 PM at Van Horn cemetery, in Tina, MO. Doris was born December 13, 1939, in Tina, MO to Theodore and Bessie (Brammer) Lingenfelter. She moved, with her family, to the Kansas City area in 1949, and in 1957 graduated from Van Horn High School in Independence, MO. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, in Independence for 40 years. She leaves behind her husband of 54 years, and whom she met in the 6th grade, Don Myers, of the home. She is also survived by her children; Janet Roe, and Paul Myers, grandchildren; Tiffany Burton, Amanda McIntyre, Lacey Schwartz, Emily Myers, Maggie Myers, Cory Myers and several great-grandchildren. Doris was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered always. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund, 2406 S. State Highway 291, Independence, MO 64057.

Ralph A. Dooley
Ralph A. Dooley, age 91, of Bosworth, Missouri, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2012 at his home.
Ralph was born April 9, 1921 in Bosworth, Missouri, the son of Kim and Jessie (Craig) Dooley. He attended East Brown School.
On April 27, 1942 Ralph married Mary E. Huffman in Carrollton, Missouri. She preceded him in death on December 26, 1999.
Ralph was a farmer, and had been a weights and measures inspector for the State of Missouri. He was a member of the Bosworth Christian Church; a member of the Hale City Lodge #216 and the Demolay Commandery No. 3KT for fifty years; a member of the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, and the Ararat Shrine for fifty years.
Ralph is survived by one son, Dennis Dooley and wife, Fran, Carrollton, Missouri; two sisters, Grace Crispin, Mission, Kansas; Doris Calvert, Lee’s Summit, Missouri; three grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Kenny Lewis; Mr. & Mrs. Kelly Lewis; Mr. & Mrs. Danny Sumner; and several great grandchildren.
His parents, three brothers, Harold, Hubert and Bob Dooley, and one sister, Louise Sundberg, also preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m., Monday, August 27, 2012 at Gibson Funeral Home, Bosworth, Missouri, with a Masonic Service held at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at the Bosworth Christian Church, Bosworth, Missouri at 10:00 a.m., with Gail Brown officiating. Burial will be in Wharton cemetery, Bosworth, Missouri.
The family suggests contributions be made to Wharton cemetery or Bosworth Christian Church in memory of Ralph. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.

Charles Gastel Kuhn, Jr.
Charles Gastel Kuhn, Jr., of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Life Care Center in Carrollton.
Charles was born September 29, 1930 in Bosworth, Missouri, the son of Charles Gastel, Sr., and Laura M. (Keynon) Kuhn. He attended Bosworth Grade and High School and after graduating there, attended Central Missouri State University, receiving his BS degree. He then attended the University of Iowa where he received his Masters and Doctorate. He taught a short time at Easton, Missouri, then started a long career at Central Missouri University where he taught in the Business School and served as chair. He was in charge of CMU Homecoming activities for many years. Charles retired in 1987. Charles was a member of the Bosworth Christian Church. He has been active in many community groups, having served on the Carrollton Library Board, supporting local schools, and a few weeks ago, attended the Chamber Round Table.
Charles is survived by a brother, Jerry N. Kuhn, Iowa City, Iowa; a nephew, Robbie, a great-nephew and a great-niece.
His parents and one nephew, Rory John Kuhn, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 7-9:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Fred Seba officiating. Burial will be in Wharton cemetery, Bosworth, Missouri.
The family suggests contributions be made to the Wharton cemetery Gazebo Fund, Bosworth Christian Church, Carrollton Public Library, or Endowment Fund for Scholarships in memory of Charles. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.

Billy Bentley
Billy Jack Bentley, 74, of Brunswick, MO and a former Keytesville, MO resident died on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at the Boone Hospital in Columbia, MO. Funeral services will beheld at the Gibson Funeral Home in Brunswick, MO, Friday, August 13, 2010 at
10:00 A.M. Reverend Ken Tounzen officiating. Visitation will be at the Funeral Home on Thursday, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Burial will be in the Asbury cemetery at Keytesville, MO. Mr. Bentley was born on January 5, 1936 at Keytesville, MO the son of William and Louella Wright Bentley. He graduated from Keytesville High School in 1954. He was married to Mary Elizabeth “Libby” Littleton on September 21, 1956 at Moberly, MO. Libby survives him at the home. He was a retired Track Patrolman for the Norfolk & Southern Rail Road. He had also worked for the Wabash and Norfolk & Western Rail Roads. Earlier he operated the Bill and Bill’s Phillips 66 Station at Keytesville, MO and he had also been a Truck Driver for the Sommer’s Potato Chip Company at Salisbury, MO. He was a member of the Keytesville Baptist Church and had been attending the Brunswick Baptist Church. He is also survived by one son, Randy Bentley and his wife Becky of Keytesville, MO; one daughter, Connie Dickerson and her husband Brent of Brunswick, MO; two sisters, Wilma Weimer and Willis Leonard both of Keytesville, MO; four granddaughters, Holly Sorensen, Haley Linneman, Emily Elliott and Madison Dickerson and five great-grandsons, Corbin, Cade and Aiden Sorensen and Beau and Eligh Linneman. He was preceded in death by his parents. Pallbearers will be Brent Sorensen, Matthew Linneman, Jason Elliott, Jimmy Westenkuehler, Clifford Littleton and Chuck Leonard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Grant Hendricks, Norman Bentley, LeRoy Smith and Jr, Bobby and Billy Littleton. Arthur Junior Barker
Arthur Junior Barker, age 90, of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Hedrick Medical Center.
Arthur was born August 27, 1919 in Livingston County, Missouri, the son of Arthur and Maude (Corbin) Barker. He graduated from Norborne High School.
Arthur was married to Veva Lee Rose in June of 1941. She preceded him in death in 2000.
He married Virginia Lang on September 12, 2008 in Chillicothe, Missouri. She survives at the home.
Arthur was a farmer in the Mandeville area. He was a member of the Mandeville United Methodist Church, and a member of the Wakanda Lodge # 52 AF & AM. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He used his skill as a carpenter woodworking and restoring antiques. Arthur was an honorable man who was loved and respected by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his wife, Virginia, Arthur is also survived by nieces and nephews, Ron (Okie) Rose, Trenton, Missouri; Pat (Ed) Bradshaw, Macon, Missouri; Stewart (Judy) Rose, Bogard, Missouri; Martha Kay (Norman) Burns, Braymer, Missouri; Bob (Beverly) Rose, Carrollton, Missouri; Jana (Glen) Burdge, Shippensburg, Pennsylvania; Linda (Ben) Fowler, Nashville, Tennessee; one brother-in-law, Dr. Melvin Faw; Nancy (Neal) Lecklider, Gary (Lisa) Faw, and David (Louisa) Faw, all of Evansville, Indiana; one step-son, Tim (Mary) Lang, Omaha, Nebraska.
His parents also preceded him in death.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 21, 2010 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Pastor Bill Reese officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer cemetery, Bogard, Missouri.
The family suggests contributions be made to the Mandeville Methodist Church or the Livingston County Multi-purpose Center in memory of Arthur. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.

George Edwin Hamblen
George Edwin Hamblen, age 78, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2010 at his home.
George was born April 25, 1932 in Winthrop, Arkansas, the son of John R. and Ola Mae (Adkins) Hamblen. He attended school in Winthrop and in Bosworth, Missouri. He served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. He married Rosa Lee Harman in 1950. She survives at the home.
George had worked at Con Agra and at the Marshall Habilitation Center. He was a Baptist.
George is also survived by two children, Gary Edwin Hamblen, Wichita, Kansas; Carolyn Louise Hamblen, Carrollton, Missouri; one sister, Dorothy Potter, Hale, Missouri; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
His parents, one son, Dennis, and five brothers, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Bert Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri, with Military Services provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773 of Carrollton.

Mary Bartels
Mary Lee Bartels, 63, of Triplett, MO died on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at the Pioneer Skilled Nursing Center at Marceline, MO. Memorial services will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at Brookfield, MO, located at Missouri Highway 36 & Highway FF, Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. Darrell Harris officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the Church. Cremation. Mary was born on December 20, 1946 at Chillicothe, MO the daughter of Ray and Sylvia (Frizell) Swagerty. She graduated from South West High School at Ludlow, MO in 1964. She was married to David Lee Bartels, Sr. on October 2, 1965 at St. Joseph, MO. David survives her at the home. Mary had been a home maker and had worked as a Clerk at Wal-Mart in Brookfield, MO. She was a member of the Brookfield Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She is also survived by her children, son David Bartels, Jr. of Overland Park, KS, daughter, Rachel Pandit of Georgetown, Grand Caymon British West Indies, and son James Aaron Bartels of Sarasota, FL; two sisters, Wanda Stottlemeyer of Chillicothe, MO and Sherry Handschin of Warner Robbins, GA; four brothers, Bob Swagerty of Havre MT, Dan Swagerty of Chillicothe, MO, Sam Swagerty of Flagstaff, AZ and Mike Swagerty of Buena Park, CA; and five grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Harold Swagerty. Memorials may be made to: The National Breast Cancer Foundation. Cremation arrangements were by the Gibson Funeral Home at Brunswick, MO.
