Linda Ruble

Linda Nell Ruble, 62, of Poplar Bluff, died Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau after an illness of three weeks. Mrs. Ruble was born Nov. 13, 1940, in Atkins, Ark. She was a retired certified nurse's aide, and affiliated with the Baptist faith. On Jan. 8, 1996, she married Robert W. Ruble, in Piggott, Ark. He survives. Other survivors include five children: Tonia Prewitt, of Houston, Miss., Deanna Wages of Cape Girardeau, Melinda Kay Haupt of Columbia, Joseph Edward Glass of Poplar Bluff, and Fawnda Matheny of West Frankford, Ill.; two step-children, Clinton Ruble and Walter Curtis Ruble, both of Poplar Bluff; 21 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Thomas E. Eakin of St. Louis. The visitation will begin at 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2003, at the Gravel Hill Cemetery in Stoddard County.

John Hagy, Sr.

John Hagy, Sr., the son of the late Joseph Greene and Nellie Belle Garner Hagy, was born in Dexter on May 2, 1917, and died at the Three Rivers Healthcare North Campus in Poplar Bluff on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at the age of 85. Mr. Hagy had lived in the Dudley and Dexter communities all his life. He attended the Church of God in Dudley. On May 11, 1943, he was married to Beatrice Scott in Poplar Bluff. She preceded him in death on Jan. 17, 2002. Surviving are three sons, John Hagy, Jr., of Dexter, Earl Hagy of Bel-Ridge and James Hagy of West Melbourne, Fla.; eight daughters, Nellie Runyon of Olney, Ill., Juanita Willoughby of Quapaw, Okla., Carolyn Fielder of Benton, Doris Price, Cora Magarian, Sandra Bayless, Claudia Scott, and Wanda Drews, all of Dexter; 32 grandchildren; and 57 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sons, Ernest, Vincent and Estel Hagy; one daughter, Vida Scott; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Jerry Metcalf of Puxico officiating and Rev. Curtis True of Sikeston assisting. Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.

R. Wayne Lorch

R. Wayne Lorch, of Bartlett, Ill., son of Claudine Tippett Lorch of Advance and the late Leonard Lorch, was born March 2, 1943 at Cape Girardeau and died Oct. 11, 2001 at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Ill., at the age of 58. Wayne was a retired management supervisor and had worked for U.S. Steele Corp. in Chicago, Ill. for 18 years. He was a 1961 graduate of Advance High School, where he was an All State Basketball player and also graduated from the University of Missouri in 1966 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Vietnam War, and was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church in Wayne, Ill. Wayne loved hunting, fishing and basketball. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Gallo on Aug. 23, 1975 at Chicago, Ill., she survives of the home. Besides his mother and wife, he is survived by one son, Mark Wayne Lorch of Bartlett, Ill.; by one daughter, Cara Marie Lorch of Chicago; by two brothers, Dennis Lorch and David Lorch, both of Advance. Mr. Lorch was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Lorch; and by one brother, Michael Lorch. Visitation was held on Sunday, Oct. 14 from 4-8 p.m. at the Morgan Funeral Home in Advance. Funeral services were conducted at the St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday, Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. with Father Frederick Lutz officiating. Interment followed at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Advance with Morgan Funeral Home of Advance in charge of all arrangements. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Advance School Foundation or the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Juanita Redman

Juanita Redman, daughter of the late Joe Harris and Bessie Jackson Harris, was born on March 12, 1918 at Malden and died in the Missouri Southern Healthcare at Dexter on Oct. 15, 2001, at the age of 83. Mrs. Redman was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Bloomfield, a retired employee of Elder Manufacturing in Dexter and a resident of Dexter. She was united in marriage to Wilford "Dick" Redman on March 15, 1956 at Hernando, Miss. He preceded her in death on June 16, 1986. Survivors include two sons, Johnnie Fry and Jim Fry, both of Bloomfield; by one daughter, Joyce Daily of Sikeston; by three sisters, Della Langston of St. Charles, Ruby Hausman of Bakersfield, Calif. and Mary Terrill of Irving, Texas; by ten grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Henry Harris, Tom Harris, George Harris, Calvin Harris and James Harris; and by one great-grandchild. Visitation will be held at the Rainey Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 16. Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dallas Reagan and Rev. Charles "Chuck" Clark officiating. Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery near Dexter with Rainey Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of all arrangements.

Aquilla Cooper

Aquilla Cooper of Pacific and formerly of Bernie, the daughter of the late P.A. Stocks and Rosa Belle Gulledge Stocks, was born at Malden on Oct. 12, 1910 and died in the Des Peres Hospital at St. Louis on Oct. 13, 2001, at the age of 91. She was united in marriage to Norvel S. Cooper at Bloomfield on March 10, 1928. To this union five children were born. Mr. Cooper preceded her in death on Jan. 3, 1981. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Howard Ray Cooper on July 5, 1991; by two brothers, Elvin Stocks and Alfred Stocks; by five sisters, Baby Stocks at infancy, Cleoria Roark, Gertie Pyle, Millie Blades and Ethel Stocks. Mrs. Cooper worked as a clerk in grocery stores in Malden and Bernie for 26 years and was a member of the Lone Oak General Baptist Church in rural Malden for more than 50 years. During that time she taught the Ladies Bible Class and was a faithful singer in the choir. She is survived by three daughters, Doris F. and husband Gene Cavin of Jefferson, Wis., Lois and husband Gary Creg of St. Louis, and Connie and husband Harlan Gist of Pacific, Mo.; by two sons, James Verlon and wife Martha Cooper of Collierville, Tenn. and Howard L. and wife Cathy Cooper of Bernie; by one sister, Thelma Russell of Malden; by 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; by several nieces and nephews. Also a host of other relatives and many friends. Visitation was held at the Rainey Funeral Home in Bernie on Monday, Oct. 15, 2001 from 5 - 8 p.m. Funeral services were conducted in the Rainey Chapel in Bernie on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 16, 2001 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Donald Lee Cooper officiating. Interment followed in the Bernie Cemetery with Rainey Funeral Home of Bernie in charge of all arrangements.

Riva Jean Davis

Riva Jean Davis (nee Wright) was born on May 19, 1937, at Bernie and died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, in St. Joseph Health Center, St. Charles, Mo, at the age of 64. Ms. Davis was a retired, self-employed beautician in St. Louis and was a member of the First Baptist Church of O'Fallon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Riva Wright. Ms. Davis is survived by two daughters, Joanne Limbrunner (Stewart) of Bolivar and Jennifer Gilmore of Dellwood; two sisters, Sue Wright of St. Louis and Brenda Wright of O'Fallon; one brother, Glynn Wright of O'Fallon; and two grandchildren. Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, in the Baue Funeral Home in O'Fallon. Additional visitation will be held at 1 p.m. today (Sunday, Oct. 14) at the Baue Chapel of O'Fallon with funeral services following at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Bernie City Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Baue Funeral Home, 311 Woods St., O'Fallon, 63366. the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association, National Kidney Foundation or American Lung Association.

Myrtle Jenkins

Myrtle Jenkins, daughter of the late Louis E. Miller and Lillian Crowe Miller, was born on Nov. 22, 1920 at Freeport, Ill. and died in the Oak View Nursing Home at Benton, Ky. on Oct. 10, 2001, at the age of 80. Mrs. Jenkins was a former bookkeeper for Midwest Waste Company in Dexter, a member of the First Christian Church, and a former resident of Dexter. She was united in marriage to Lon Jenkins, Jr. on Jan. 16, 1945 in Piggott, Ark. Mr. Jenkins preceded her in death on March 15, 1983. She is survived by one sister, Rose Masters of Livonia, Mich. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Norma Hobbs. Visitation was held at the Rainey Funeral Home in Dexter from 9:30 a.m. - 12 noon on Friday, Oct. 12. Funeral services immediately followed in the Rainey Funeral Chapel with Rev. Clifford Wray officiating. Interment followed in the Bernie Cemetery with Rainey Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of all arrangements.

Janie Edwards

Janie Lucille Edwards, daughter of the late Atle Charlton and Illa Marine Charlton, was born at Murray, Ky. on May 10, 1920 and died in the Barnes Jewish Hospital at St. Louis on Oct. 10, 2001, at the age of 81. Mrs. Edwards was a homemaker and was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses of Dexter. She was united in marriage to Tribble Elsworth Edwards at Piggott, Ark. in 1937. To this union nine children were born. Mr. Edwards preceded her in death in 1991. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Connie Edwards; by three grandsons, Tony McNece, Jack Edwards and Shane Edwards; by three sisters, Nola Mae Brown, Olivia Tucker and Maudina McCain. She is survived by six sons, Gary Edwards of Fisk, Dale Edwards of Rockford, Ill., Jimmy Edwards of Brosley, Benny Edwards of Barkersfield, Micky Edwards of Brosley, and Jackie Edwards of Rockford, Ill.; by two daughters, Sue Davis of Pangburn, Ark. and Eva McNece of Bernie; by 29 grandchildren; by 41 great-grandchildren; by seven great-great grandchildren; and by one brother, Bill Charlton of Nashville, Tenn. Visitation will be held at the Rainey Funeral Home in Bernie on Friday, Oct. 12 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey Chapel on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Gregory Cemetery at Kennett with Rainey Funeral Home of Bernie in charge of all arrangements.
