Faye Bailey

Faye Bailey, daughter of the late Andrew Franklin and Effie May Anderson Lynn, was born March 4, 1904 at Aid, and died in the Cypress Point Healthcare in Dexter on Friday, December 14, 2001, at the age of 97. Mrs. Bailey was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Dexter, a retired school teacher in the Dexter, Bloomfield and Essex public school systems, a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Golden Age Club and a resident of Dexter. She was united in marriage to Albert Samuel Bailey on December 7, 1945 at Malden. Mr. Bailey preceded her in death on April 30, 1965. Survivors include one son, Sam Bailey of Dexter; by one sister, Floris Southerland of Park Hills; by two grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and one step great grandchild. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Bernice Houser. Visitation will be held at the Rainey Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Monday, Dec. 17, 2001 in the Rainey Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Vaughn Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.

Charles Franklin Lee Robertson Sr.

Charles Franklin Lee Robertson Sr., son of the late Oatley J. Robertson and Fannie Marie Davis Robertson, was born on October 17, 1934 at La Valle, Missouri, and died in the Three Rivers Healthcare South Campus in Poplar Bluff on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2001, at the age of 67. Mr. Robertson was a farmer, a veteran of the United States Navy and a resident of rural Dexter. Survivors include three sons, Charles F. Robertson Jr. of Dexter, Joseph Wayne Robertson of Puxico and William J. Robertson of Bloomfield; by two daughters, Linda Coy of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Melissa Deason of Sikeston; by three brothers, Edward Robertson of Bernie, Freddie Robertson of Malden and Lewis Robertson of Arnold; and by one sister, Gracie Williams of Arnold; and by nine grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Rainey Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2001. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001 in the Rainey Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dean Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery near Puxico.

Virginia Harris

Virginia Harris, daughter of the late Everett Dennis Kinworthy and Hettie Marie Bacon Kinworthy, was born on July 27, 1935 at Dexter and died at the Citrus Memorial Hospital at Inverness, Fla., on Dec. 11, 2001, at the age of 66. Mrs. Harris was a convenience store manager, affiliated with the Assembly of God Church, and was a resident of Bushnell, Fla., and was formerly of Dexter. She was united in marriage to Virgil C. Harris on August 17, 1963, at Las Vegas, Nev., Mr. Harris preceded her in death on March 26, 1979. Survivors include one brother, Mrylee Kinworthy of Poplar Bluff; two sisters, Norma Jean Overbey and Kathryn Blythe, both of Dexter. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Herbert Kinworthy. Graveside services will be conducted, at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at the Dexter Cemetery with Rev. Andrew Lovins officiating.

Lula Bryant

Lula Bryant, daughter of the late W.F. Wagoner and Nellie Belford Bryant, was born Nov. 14, 1914, in New Madrid and died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, at the Malden Care Center at the age of 87. She was united in marriage to Chester Bryant at Malden on Dec. 9, 1931. Mr. Bryant preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 1996. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Wayne Bryant, three brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Bryant was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Malden. She is survived by four sons, George Bryant, of Wappapello, Bob Bryant, of Campbell, Roger Bryant, of Cape Girardeau and Rev. Mark Bryant of Green Forest; two daughters, Barbara Borders of Kennett and Carolyn Chappell, of Dexter; two sisters, Pheba Patton, of Malden and Lillie Bailey, of Flint, Mich.; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at 6 p.m., Monday, Dec. 10, 2001 at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden. The funeral will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Dec.11, 2001, at the First Assembly of God Church in Malden with Rev. Mark Bryant and Rev. Dale Shoup officiating. Interment will follow at the Rosewood Cemetery in Malden with the Bradshaw Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.

Jerry Shipman

Jerry L. Shipman, the son of the late John and Pearl Smith Shipman, was born in Dexter on Feb. 3, 1920 and died at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau on Dec. 12, 2001, at the age of 81. Mr. Shipman had lived all his life in Dexter. He was a retired truck driver and was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Dexter. On Sept. 29, 1940 he was united in marriage to Helen Stoker in Malden, she survives of the home in Dexter. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Jerry D. Shipman of Charleston, S.C.; by two daughters, Janet F. Putnam of Dexter and Geraldine Comte of St. Louis; by nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Eugene Shipman and James "Jack" Shipman. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 13 from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 14 at 11 a.m. in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Kenneth Biggs of Dexter officiating. Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of all arrangements.

Winnia Faye Rus

Winnia Faye Rush, daughter of the late William Travis Garrison and Laveda Sewell Garrison, was born on Jan. 2, 1940, at Winston County, Ala., and died in Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, at the age of 63. Mrs. Rush was a homemaker and a resident of rural Bernie. She was united in marriage to John Rush on June 30, 1956, at Kennett. Mr. Rush survives of the home near Bernie. Besides her husband, she is survived by four sons, Marty Rush of Austell, Ga., David Rush of Kennett, Travis Rush and Benjamin Rush, both of Poplar Bluff; seven daughters, Paula Collier of Dexter, Joanne Coblentz of Sarasota, Fla., Treca Rush of South Point, Ohio, Johnetta Garbiso of Walsenburg, Colo., Wanda Matthews of Bernie, Sandi Podskoe of Warner Robbins, Ga., and Beckie Collier of Sikeston; four brothers, Crant Garrison of Lithia Springs, Ga., Cecil Garrison, Jimmy Garrison, Roger Garrison and Eddie Garrison, all of Douglasville, Ga.; one sister, Nancy Chapman of Alabama; 21 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Clifford Ray Rush and one great-grandson. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie. Funeral services will then be conducted at 2:00 p.m.; in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie with Rev. Earnest Puckett officiating. Interment will follow in the Smith-Stevenson Cemetery.

Clinton H. Aslin

Clinton Harold Aslin, son of the late Ernest and Eva Aslin, was born March 19, 1933 in Bloomfield, Mo. and died suddenly Dec. 9, 2001 in Haughton, La. at the age of 68. After graduating in 1954 from the University of Missouri in Columbia, where he was in the Air Force ROTC, Clint served the next 26 years as a Pilot and Command Officer with various duties in the Untied States Air Force. He retired in 1980 as a Lt. Colonel and as a Veteran of Foreign Wars. His membership in the Order of the Daedalians gave him pride. Mr. Aslin then went into real estate for 12 years, where his friendly nature served his clients well. Clint focused on his family, lawn, travel and volunteer work. He was a proud member of the Sheriff's Posse in Bossier Parish.
Clint was baptized and married in the First Christian Church in Bloomfield and lived the next 47 years with his wife and favorite companion, Berta Wallace Aslin. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Carmen and Kenneth Aslin; and one sister, Leah Fischer. Besides his wife, Berta, he is survived by one daughter, Anna and Josh Cohen of Arlington, Va.; by one son, Clint and Terry Aslin of Mead, Okla.; by one grandson, Anthony Aslin of Mead, Okla.; by his mother-in-law, Gertrude Patrick of Bloomfield; one brother, Gorty Aslin of Bloomfield; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 13 at 11 a.m. with funeral services following at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Ron Dunavin, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, officiating in the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Chapel in Bloomfield.
Pallbearers will be Bill Aslin, Clint Aslin, Josh Cohen, Tim Aslin, Bob Aslin and Bob Aslin, Jr. Memorials may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church at Bloomfield, the American Heart Association or to the charity of the donors choice.

Helen Taylor

Helen M. Taylor of Dudley, daughter of Maude Ford and the late Herman Ford, was born July 26, 1921 at Parma and died Dec. 10, 2001 at her son's residence in Dudley, at the age of 80. Mrs. Taylor worked at Elder Manufacturing for 23 years, retiring in the early 1970's, and she was a homemaker. She was a member of the Fisk General Baptist Church. On Nov. 5, 1939 she was untied in marriage to Chester B. Taylor and he preceded her in death on June 5, 1994. She is survived by three sons, Ferral and Mary Taylor of Dudley, Dale and Bonnie Taylor of Puxico, and Terry and Carolyn Taylor of Cape Girardeau; by two daughters, Joyce and Don Hargrove of St. Ann and Carolyn Jo and Richard Piel of Maryland Heights; by four sisters, Eve Whitson of Bakersfield, Calif., Jewel DeVore of Keen, Texas, Mary Booth of Decatur, Ill., and Dollie Provance of Nashville, Tenn.; by 12 grandchildren; and by 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 5 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Dec. 13 at 11 a.m. at White-Sanders Funeral Chapel in Fisk with Rev. Ray Placher and Rev. Marvin Jones officiating. Interment will follow at the Malden Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden with White-Sanders Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
