Bulah Barnett Fitzgerald

Bulah Barnett Fitzgerald, the daughter of the late Claude and Lucy Woods Little, was born in Parma on April 7, 1920 and died at her home in Middle Brook on March 13, 2003, at the age of 82 years. Mrs. Fitzgerald had lived in the Morehouse and Sikeston areas before moving to Middle Brook in 1993. She was retired from Vickers Electric in St. Louis and was a member of the Morehouse Assembly of God Church. On July 26, 1937 she married William Taft Barnett, he preceded her in death on February 20, 1991. On November 21, 1992, she was married to Leslie "Ken" Fitzgerald in Morehouse. Surviving are her husband, Leslie "Ken" Fitzgerald of Middle Brook, two brothers, Troy Little of Morehouse and Leo Little of East Parry; two sisters, Vela Hankins of Morehouse and Mary Hicks of Florissant; two step-sons, Robert Fitzgerald of Middle Brook and Tom Fitzgerald of St. Peters; one step-daughter, Geraldine Meyers of Wood River, Ill. 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one son, Taft Udel "Dale" Barnett on March 4, 1975 and one daughter Delores Costella in 1939. Friends may call on Sunday, March 16, 2003, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Home in Dexter. Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter, with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.

Agnes Speck

Agnes Speck of Jackson and formerly of Anna, Ill., the daughter of the late Julious and Ethel Lasley Hartline, was born June 28, 1913 in Union County, Ill. and died Sunday, March 24, 2002 at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, at the age of 88. She was formerly a member of the United Methodist Church in Anna and was currently a member of the Calvary United Pentecostal Church in Jackson and a homemaker. On June 27, 1936 she was united in marriage to Clarence Speck and he preceded her in death on March 4, 1992. Survivors include one son, Randy Speck of Dexter; two brothers, Raymond "Cotton" Hartline of Anna, Ill. and Irvin Hartline of Dowell, Ill.; and one sister, Opal Kelley of Valparaiso, Ind. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Wanda White, Cecile Penrod, Dorotha Brussels and Violet Ferguson. Visitation was held today, Tuesday, March 26 from 5 - 8 p.m.. and Wednesday from 8:30 - 11 a.m. at the Crain Funeral Home in Anna, Ill. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 27 in the Crain Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Anna Cemetery with Crain Funeral Home in Anna in charge of arrangements.

Lois Mitchell

Lois Imogene Mitchell, daughter of the late Elvis Reynolds and Gladys Irby Reynolds, was born on April 19, 1925, at Dexter and died in the Sheridan Nursing Home at Sheridan, Ark., on Dec. 27, 2002, at the age of 77. Mrs. Mitchell was a homemaker, a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church of Sheridan, Ark. She was united in marriage to Melvin Eugene Mitchell on Nov. 1, 1941, at Clarkton. He preceded his wife in death on July 21, 1984. Survivors include two sons, Melvin Leon Mitchell of Marlow, Okla., and Joseph Wayne Mitchell of Sheridan, Ark.; one daughter, Connie Elaine Mitchell Stubbs of Sheridan, Ark.; one brother, Houston Reynolds of Elgin, Ill.; four sisters, Helen McBride and Faye Bunch, both of Dexter, Sue Dock of Malden and Yvonne Chance of Overland Park, Kan.; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, E.J. Reynolds, and one sister, Janis Fowler. Visitation was held from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Walt Hollis officiating. Interment followed in the Bernie Cemetery.

Beulah E. McAllister

Beulah E. McAllister, 92, of Clio, Mich., was born Oct. 23, 1910, at McGee, the daughter of the late Charles and Etta McDaniel Walk, and died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at Fonton Extended Care. For many years, she was a caregiver for many children from the Whaley Children's Home. She was married to Zera McAllister, and he preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, Zeedie Lee McAllister of Clio, Mich.; three brothers, Avery Walk of McGee, Harold Walk and Audrey Walk, both of Puxico; three sisters, Mary Nichols of Advance, Thelma Hinton of Flint, Mich., and Ruby Barnfield of Greenville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A daughter Sharon McAllister, and two brothers, Steve and Milford Walk, also preceded her in death. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance with Rev. LeRoy Hefner officiating. Interment will follow at McGee New Hope Cemetery at McGee.

Myrtle McIntosh

Myrtle McIntosh, the daughter of the late Frank and Stella Whitaker Hearren, was born in West Plains, Mo., on Dec. 26, 1918, and died at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston on Sunday, June 2, at the age of 83. Mrs. McIntosh had lived in the Parma area for 65 years. She was a retired seamstress and was a member of the Parma Baptist Church. In November of 1937, she married Wesley Ervin McIntosh at Parma and he preceded her in death on June 10, 1966. She also was preceded in death by one son, Leon Hearren, one stepson, Ray McIntosh, one brother, Jesse Hearren, and two sisters, Virginia Presley and Lola Folckomer. Surviving are one son, Wesley Anthony McIntosh of Parma; three daughters, Mary Lee of Lilbourn, Stella Buck of Dexter and Martha Miller of Parma; two stepsons, Ervin McIntosh of Lampe and Kenneth McIntosh of Bremerton, Wash.; 25 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. today, Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Parma. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, in the Watkins & sons Funeral Chapel at Parma with Bro. Michael D. Chambliss of Jacksonville, Fla., officiating. Burial will follow in the Parma Cemetery, Parma, Mo.

Frankie Ray Hunsperger

Frankie Ray Hunsperger, the son of Frank and Rita Hunsperger, was born in Wyatt on Jan. 21, 1957 and died at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston on Jan. 07, 2003 at the age of 45. Mr. Hunsperger had lived in East Prairie until moving to Dexter in 1973. He was employed at Ames Manufacturing, formerly IXL, in Bernie. Surviving are one son: Kris Hunsperger, of Dexter; one daughter, Shawna Wood, of Dexter; two grandchildren, Kelsi and Jordan Wood, both of Dexter; his parents, Frank and Rita Hunsperger, both of Dexter; two brothers, Tom Hunsperger, of Dexter and Larry Hunsperger, of Clarkton; four sisters, Bobbie Turnbow, of Bloomfield, Kay Stafford, of Dexter, Jo Hunsperger, of Grayling, Mich., and Tammy Burnett of Malden. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 09, 2003 at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m., Friday, Jan. 10 in the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Jack Hargraves, of Chaffee and the Rev. Vaughn Wright, of Dexter officiating. Interment will follow in the Wayside Cemetery near Koshkonog with Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.

Bessie Summers

Bessie Naomi Summers, daughter of the late Walter Alexander Summers and Allie Davenport Summers, was born at Dexter on July 26, 1927, and died in the University of Chicago (Ill.) Hospital on Thursday, May 30, 2002, at the age of 74. Formerly of Dexter, she was a homemaker and resided in Dowagiac, Mich. Survivors include two sons, John Chappel of Dowagiac, Mich., and Michael Chappel of Kalamazoo, Mich.; two daughters, Deborah Smith and Rebecca Michael, both of Dowagiac; two sisters, Wilma Hyslop and Alfred Reed, both of Dexter; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Carmen Summers and Farrell Summers; and three sisters, Lottie Riley, Dorothy Sneed and Jewell Summers. Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2002 at the Dexter Cemetery with Rev. Phil Warren officiating. Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home of Dexter is in charge of arrangements.

Arvona Walker

Arvona Costella Walker, the daughter of the late Archie Arvel and Gladys Cooper Warren, was born in Stoddard County of Missouri on May 3, 1937 and passed away at her home near Salem, Mo. on May 30, 2002, at the age of 65. Mrs. Walker had lived in Dexter until 1987 and then moved to Salem and lived until her death. She was a seamstress for Elder Manufacturing Company and later at Hagle Garment Manufacture in Salem, where she retired. She enjoyed flea markets and was a gifted crafter and writer. Arvona loved her family and was a true Child of God. She was united in marriage to Richard Walker on Feb. 13, 1954 at Holly Springs, Miss. and he survives of the home in Salem. Besides her husband, she is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Arlen and Tammy Walker of Salem, Mo.; by three sisters, Shirley Warren of Granite City, Ill., Lovetta Cookson of Dexter, Mo. and Margie Sadler and husband, Don, of Bloomfield, Mo.; by three brothers, Kent Warren and wife, Judy, of Madison, Ill., Butch Warren and wife, Marcia, of Granite City, Ill. and Wayne Warren and wife, Ruth, of Salem; and by two granddaughters, Leeya and Haley Walker of Salem, Mo. Other relatives and many friends also survive. Besides her parents, Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by one infant sister and one younger sister, Kay Nevels. Visitation will be held Saturday, June 1, 2002 from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2002, at 2 p.m. in the Watkins & Sons Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Charles Richardson of Piggott, Ark. officiating. Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield, Mo. with Watkins & Sons Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
