Willie Ann Quesenberry

Willie Ann Quesenberry, daughter of Robert Reed and Grace LaMoine (Rollins) Howlett, was born April 15, 1928, in Pulaski County, in the Fairview Community. She departed this life Monday, May 28, 2012, in Mercy Hospital, Lebanon, at the age of eighty-four years, one month and thirteen days.
On April 12, 1947, she was united in marriage to John Truman Quesenberry and to this union three daughters and two sons were born. She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Connie Sue and Debra Ann Quesenberry, a step great-grandson, Ashtyn Sufficool, three brothers, Rollins, Dale and Keith Howlett, and a sister, Gussie Black.
Willie is survived by her husband, Truman Quesenberry; children, Pat Hays and special friend, Dean Moore, John Quesenberry and wife, Darla, and Bill Quesenberry all of Laquey, MO; six grandchildren, Jeff Smith (Barb), Tammy Smith, Jason Smith (Kerry), Amy, Susan, and Joshua Quesenberry; five step-grandchildren, Charlotta Wallander (Nathan), Timmy Sufficool (Shayna), Tyler Sufficool (Tammy), Troy Autrey (Andrea), and Albany Hampton; nine great-grandchildren, fourteen step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Kenneth Howlett and wife, Flo, of Richland, MO; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Fairview area of Pulaski County and attended the Fairview School. Later attending the Richland High School and graduated with the Class of 1945. Went to Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, MO and received her teaching certificate. After she and Truman were married they continued to make their home here. She taught in a country school for a few years near Hazelgreen and then became a devoted wife and mother to her family. She also worked at Betty’s Café in St. Robert for a few years.
Willie had professed her faith in Christ and was a longtime faithful member of the Fairview Baptist Church. She was very involved at the church and had played the piano there for many years. She centered her life around caring for her family and her church. Her dog, Scooter, also held a very special place in her heart.
Willie was a loving wife and mother, a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, a treasured sister and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed, but will live on in our hearts forever.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012 in the Memorial Chapel of Richland with Rev Larry Suggs and Rev. Francis Stiles officiating. Soloist Becky Lercher sang “Beyond the Sunset”, “Suppertime” and “Serenaded By Angels”. The song “Goodbye World Goodbye” performed by the Covenant Quartet was played. Serving as escorts were Jason Smith, Nathan Wallander, Timmy Sufficool, Tyler Sufficool, Tommy Howlett and Donnie Howlett. Serving as honorary escorts were Joshua Quesenberry, Russell Howlett, Eddie Howlett, Morris Howlett, Larry Echelberry and JR Black. Burial followed in the Fairview Cemetery of Laquey, Missouri.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and may be left at the funeral home.

Karen E. Goodwin

Karen E. Goodwin, age 66 of Highland, IL, died Friday, May 18, 2012, at Summerlin Hospital in Las Vegas, NV.
She was born on Monday, June 04, 1945, in Saint Louis, MO, the daughter of Kenneth Everett and Jeannette Agnes (nee Conrad) Schmittel.
She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post #5694, Highland, IL; St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, Highland, IL; and former Moose Lodge, VA.
Karen was reared in St. Louis, Missouri, her father was a career US Army Veteran; her family lived in many places in the US and Germany. She worked for the Civil Service in the logistics department, working at Ft Leonard Wood, MO; St. Louis, MO; Huntsville, AL; and retired from Ft. Monroe, VA. She had lived at Waynesville, MO and in 1986 moved to Highland, IL. In her retirement she worked at the Louis Latzer Memorial Public Library, Highland, IL. This past year she lived at Las Vegas, NV, with her daughters.
Survivors include:
Daughter - Jeannette T. King, Las Vegas, NV, Son - Michael A. (Cindy) Williams, O'Fallon, IL, Daughter - Rebecca M. (John) Bray nee Williams, Las Vegas, NV, Grandson - Connor Williams, O Fallon, IL, Grandson - Cole Williams, O Fallon, IL, Grandson - Liam Martin, Las Vegas, NV, Brother - Gerald (Cindy) Goodwin, Tarpon Springs, FL, Sister - Rosalie (Kerry) Kepner, Cicero, IN.
She was preceded in death by: Father - Kenneth Everett Schmittel, Mother - Jeannette Agnes Schmittel Goodwin (nee Conrad), Step Father - Gerald Edwin Goodwin, Sister - Kathi Anne Schmittel (died May 1, 1955).
Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, May 25, 2012, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, and from 8:00 AM to 10 a.m., on Saturday, May 26, 2012, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2012, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, with Rev. Dan Perry, Pastor, Highland, IL officiating.
Interment will be at Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens in Saint Louis, MO.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Baldrick's Foundation.

Lawrence “Larry” Elmer Harris

Lawrence “Larry” Elmer Harris, son of the late William Everett and Leah (Cavin) Harris, was born on February 6, 1926 in Alton, Illinois where he grew up and attended school.
On May 4, 1944, Larry was united in marriage to Marie Shelton. They were blessed with four children: Larry Paul, Terri Lee, Sheryl Marie and Steven Lawrence.
Larry was a hardworking man. He worked as a Master Carpenter for the Woodworker’s Union for many years and also operated heavy equipment and ran a dairy farm. He served his country while during a tour of duty in the United States Army.
On May 31, 1975, Larry was united in marriage to Ruth Hazelwood. She brought six children to this union and they shared many wonderful years together before Ruth preceded him in death.
Larry loved spending time with his family and friends and was known to play practical jokes on them. Larry was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness of Crocker.
Larry passed away at 12:10 am, Monday, June 4, 2012 in the Golden Living Center of St. James, Missouri having attained the age of 86 years, 3 months and 29 days.
Larry leaves to cherish his memory his two children, Terri Wood and Steve Harris both of St. James, MO; four step-daughters: Elizabeth, Donnie, Laney and Alpha Lynn; two step-sons: Donald (Buddy) and Brian; three sisters: Kathleen Poe (Ted) of Gravette, AR; Evelyn Burklow of Springfield, MO; Carolyn Kovalick (Joe) of Richland, Mo; eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, Ruth, Larry was preceded in death by two brothers: George and Bill Harris; one son: Larry Paul Harris; and one daughter: Sheryl Marie Henderson.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Larry’s step-son, Brian Underwood officiating as he recalled his wonderful memories of Larry. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.

Rosetta May Johnson

Rosetta May Johnson, daughter of Basil Ray Campbell and Rose Marie (Drew) Bade, was born June 18, 1956 in Carmi, Illinois. As a young girl, Rosetta moved to Oilton, Oklahoma where she graduated from high school. She furthered her education by obtaining her LPN license.
On December 22, 1991, Rosetta was united in marriage to Robert Lee Johnson. They shared over 20 years of marriage together and four children: Angela, Jacob, Ryan and Callie.
Rosetta made a very important decision in her life and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior. She was baptized at Eureka Baptist Church of Richland and attended every chance she could.
Rosetta was a hardworking woman. She worked for the past 10 years as the school nurse for the Laquey School District. She loved children and enjoyed getting to take care of them at the school.
In her spare time, she loved to cook, read and do crossword puzzles. You could often find her outside in her yard taking care of her flowers and garden. She was also very active in the Laquey PTO and was a troop leader for Girl Scout Troop #10967. Most importantly, she cherished those times spent with her family and friends.
Rosetta went home to be with the Lord Thursday, June 21, 2012 in her home after a short and courageous battle with cancer. She attained the age of 56 years and 3 days. She will be sadly missed by all those that knew and loved her.
Rosetta leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Robert Johnson of the home; four children: Angela Carter (Harold) of Cushing, OK, Jacob Prather (Christina) of Oilton, OK, Ryan Johnson and Callie Johnson of Laquey, MO; siblings: Rae Drew of Dixon, MO, Chrystall Smith (Gary) of Oilton, OK and Donald Campbell (Debbie) of Laquey, MO; father: Ray Campbell of St. Robert, MO; mother: Rose Bade of Oilton, OK; four grandchildren: Josh, Mac, Wyatt and Emily; several other relatives and friends.
Rosetta was preceded in death by her stepmother, Linda Campbell.
Celebration of life services were held at 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, June 26, 2012 in the Eureka Baptist Church of Richland, Missouri with Rev. Doug Jacobson officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.

Ruth Erike Landin

Ruth Erike Landin was born April 26, 1922, in Poland (Communist Russia) where she grew up and attended school.
As a young girl, Ruth met a United States soldier in Germany. His name was Louis Ochoa Landin. They were united in marriage on April 28, 1961. They shared many wonderful years of marriage together and were blessed with one daughter, Peggy. On July 14, 1964, Ruth came to the United States and then obtained her citizenship on November 22, 1964.
Due to Louis being the military, he was stationed in several different places. Each time Ruth and the family moved with him and they were able to see different places of the country.
She became very involved in the community and enjoyed volunteering with the Harry Herron DAV. She also helped with the 4-H Saddle Club when Peggy was a young girl and very involved in showing horses.
In her spare time, Ruth enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She made beautiful pieces for family and friends. She also liked to do crossword puzzles and she could play a mean game of Yahtzee. She loved her dogs, Brutus, King, Ringo and recently Baby Girl.
Ruth passed away Monday, June 25, 2012 in her son-in-law’s home having attained the age of 90 years, 1 month and 30 days. She will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved her.
Ruth leaves to cherish her memory her son-in-law: Oscar Gonzales (Nora) of Waynesville, MO; five grandchildren: Art Gonzales (Kresta Stewart) of Waynesville, MO, Tony Gonzales (Melissa Shelby-Zike) of St. Robert, MO, Melissa Gomez (John Brown) of St. Robert, MO, Monica Gomez of Hayden, AZ and Tina Gomez (Dietrich Haggard) of Waynesville, MO; thirteen great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Louis and her daughter: Peggy Gonzales.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 29, 2012, in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Rod Farthing officiating. Serving as escorts were Art Gonzales, Tony Gonzales, Dietrich Haggard, John Brown Jr., Jeremiah Roads and Turi Gonzales. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Ruth Landin and may be left at the funeral home.

MRS. NEVA RAMSEY

Vivian Geneva “Neva” Ramsey, of Vienna, formerly of Dixon, was born April 9, 1923, near Dixon, in Maries County, a daughter of William “Willie” and Elsie Augusta (Watson) Case, and departed this life at 12:46 A.M., Tuesday, June 29, 2010, in Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City. Mrs. Ramsey had been in failing health for some time and had attained the age of 87 years, 2 months, and 21 days.
Mrs. Ramsey was united in marriage on June 1, 1942 at Vienna, to Timothy Lee Ramsey, and to this union four children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband on January 27, 1990; one son, James Harvey Ramsey on September 2, 2009; her father on March 15, 1964; her mother on September 22, 1988; and one sister, Mary Anna Alexander on September 11, 2002.
Mrs. Ramsey was a member of the First Baptist Church, Dixon and had attended First Baptist Church, Vienna, since moving to this area. She was known for her cooking and baking, especially her homemade doughnuts. Mrs. Ramsey had been a member of a bowling league, enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, and making wedding cakes. She had been employed with Brown Shoe Company, Dixon in the fancy stitching department for 35 years prior to her retirement and later worked for the Maries R-1 School Lunch Program as a baker for 6 years as well as assisting with the family farm throughout her working life.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Ramsey include: Two sons and three daughters-in-law, Gabriel and Joyce Ramsey, Marshall; Roy and Linda Ramsey, Jefferson City; and Jan Ramsey, Rolla; one daughter and son-in-law, Vivian and Forrest Honse, Vienna; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Aleene Robertson, Dixon; Donna and Gary Cain, Austin, Texas; and Carol and Russ Gamblin, Belleville, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Rachael and Robb Stouffer, Lees Summit; Rebecca and Clay Kohler, Pleasant Hill; Kerri and Bill Johnson, St. Peter’s; Heather and Chance Duensing, Pleasant Hill; Amy and Ron Berendzen, Holts Summit; Todd and Melissa Ramsey, Overland Park, Kansas; Corey and Marcella Ramsey, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Maegan and Shannon Arthur, Rolla; and Erin and Jason Replogle, Joplin; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Precious memories of Mrs. Ramsey will remain in the hearts of her dear family and all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Ramsey at 12 Noon, Friday, July 2, 2010, in the First Baptist Church, Vienna, with Rev. Richard D. Spacek, officiating. Harold Rowden and Rhonda Slone sang “The Last Mile” and “Medals for Mother” for the funeral service.
Interment under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes was at 2:30 P.M., Friday, July 2, 2010 in the Dixon Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mrs. Ramsey were Rachel Stouffer, Rebecca Kohler, Kerri Johnson, Heather Duensing, Amy Berendzen, Todd Ramsey, Maegan Arthur, and Erin Replogle.
Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church, Vienna, with envelopes available at the Church or the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.

PAUL D. HOKANSON

Paul Daniel Hokanson of Odessa, MO, formerly of Waynesville and Dixon, MO went to be at home with his Lord, June 5, 2010 at his home. He was born October 17, 1948 in Minneapolis, MN a son of Rev. Harold Edmund and Marian (McKelvie) Hokanson. Paul was united in marriage to Patricia Jones on September 18, 1976 in the Santee church, near Dixon, MO. To this union two children were born, Paula and Peter.
Paul graduated from Waynesville High School in 1966. He earned his Bachelors degree from the School of the Ozarks in Branson, MO. He earned his Masters degree from Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg, MO. Paul had a varied career mostly in higher education and city government around the state of Missouri. Until health prohibited he was financial manager for the city of Nevada, MO. He also served as Missouri State board treasurer for Child Evangelism Fellowship until his passing. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Odessa, MO, a church family that was very active in doing whatever was needed for Paul and Pat during his sickness.
Those preceding him in death were his father in 1986; his mother in 1993; and his father-in-law, Victor Jones on December 15, 1992.
Paul will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by his wife, Patricia of the home; daughter, Paula Hokanson of Siloam Springs, AR; son Peter Hokanson of Odessa, MO; brother and wife, David and Connie Hokanson of Laquey, MO; sister, Ruth Hokanson of Edgar Springs, MO; mother-in-law, Dorothy Jones of Dixon, MO; sister-in-law and husband, Vickie and Jeff Annas of Granite Falls, North Carolina; nieces and nephew who lovingly knew him simply as “Unc” and the second generation of nieces and nephews who knew him as “Big Unc” and many cousins, friends and loved ones.
Funeral services were conducted for Paul at 11:00 A.M., Friday, June 11, 2010, in the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes, with Pastor Bill Dudley, First Baptist Church, St. Robert, MO, officiating. Mona Jones provided appropriate vocal selection and accompanied herself with her guitar, Betty Doyle provided appropriate musical selection for the prelude and postlude of the funeral service.
Interment was in the Seaton Cemetery near Dixon, under the direction of the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Active pallbearers for Paul were Mark Hokanson, Bill Howser, Pat Stevens, Mark Jones, Wayne Sloan and Frank Lipscomb.
Memorials are suggested per the wishes of the family with envelopes available at the Dixon Office of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.

Belva Lee Hackman
(January 24, 1938 - June 12, 2011)

Belva Lee Hackman, 73, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2011, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 24, 1938, in Jefferson City, Missouri, a daughter of the late Orval O. and Dorothy (Kleindienst) Gibler. On January 30, 1960, Belva was united in marriage to Kenneth R. Hackman, who survives at their home.
Belva worked for the Missouri Department of Revenue for seventeen years. She also was a housewife and babysitter at her home. She attended St. Peter Catholic Church. Belva enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing cards, and loved going for rides and watching trains. She also enjoyed working with train layout with her husband.
Along with her husband Kenneth, Belva is also survived by two daughters: Robin J. Payne (husband Kenny) of Jefferson City; Sandra “Sandy” L. Talken (husband Andrew) of Jefferson City; two sons: Steve Ray Hackman (wife Lisa) of Bellevue, Nebraska; Randy Hackman of Jefferson City; one sister: Shelby Jean Loethen-Brown of Jefferson City; two sisters-in-law: Jean Gibler of Jefferson City; Pat Prenger of Valdosta, Georgia; eight grandchildren: Jason Payne, Amber Kreutz, Whitney Talken, Shayna Sinor, Derek Hackman, Alison Hackman, Veronica Hackman, Kenna Hackman; and eleven great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two brothers: William R. Gibler and Donald E. Gibler; and a granddaughter: Amanda L. Payne.
Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with Deacon Al Brand officiating. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Lung Association or SSM Hospice. Arrangements are under the direction of HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors, 2613 West Main Street; Jefferson City, Missouri 65109.
