Beatrice Darline Walls
(December 8, 1928 - July 18, 2011)

Beatrice Darline Howell Walls, nee: See, 82, of Columbia, Missouri, formerly of Troy, Missouri, passed away on July 18, 2011. She was born on December 8, 1928 to Ralph Harold See and Florence Darline See Kuda, nee: Sonner near Bellflower, Missouri. She was married to Elmer Reavis Howell in Troy, Missouri. A son Daniel Wayne Howell was born to that union. Her husband Elmer preceded her in death on September 30, 1957. She then married Donald Louis Walls on April 16, 1966 and that marriage ended in June of 1990.
In 1945 she graduated from Buchanan High School in Troy, Missouri and continued her education by graduating from cosmetology school in Detroit, Michigan. After obtaining her license, she briefly worked as a beautician in Bowling Green, Missouri. After her marriage to Elmer, she moved to St. Louis, Missouri area and worked for 18 years with the Seaboard and Avco Financial Companies as a Bookkeeper. She eventually moved to Troy, Missouri for several years and then Columbia, Missouri to be near immediate family.
She was an avid “crafter” and worked part-time with Creative Circle. Many people were recipients of her beautiful afghans, needle point pictures and homemade Christmas ornaments. She loved to play all kinds of card games and even taught her Great-Grandchildren the nuances of Skip-Bo.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of St. Ann, Missouri, and transferred membership to the Community Church of Hawk Point. Upon moving to Columbia, Missouri she joined membership with Forum Christian Church.
She is survived by her loving son, Daniel Howell and wife Carolyn of Columbia, Missouri; one grandson, Jason Howell and wife Brook of Wentzville, Missouri; one granddaughter, Jessica Howell Spellman and husband Steven of Hallville, Missouri; one brother, James Kuda and wife Joyce of Hawk Point, Missouri; four great-grandchildren: Isaiah, Huston, Avery, and Lillie Spellman, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer Reavis, her parents, Ralph and Florence, step-father, Lawrence Kuda, her brother Hurd E. See and his wife Marilyn.
Family and Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at KEMPER-MARSH-MILLARD Family Funeral Home / Hawk Point Chapel (41 Farm Lane Hawk Point, MO 63379). Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at the Hawk Point Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Scott Sutherland. Interment will be held at Hawk Point City Cemetery. Donna Belle Goff
(October 5, 1938 - July 19, 2011)

Donna Belle (Hemmel) Goff, 72, of Osage Beach, died Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at Osage Beach Rehab & Health Care Center in Osage Beach, Missouri.
She was born October 5, 1938, in Jefferson City, the daughter of the late Elmer “Bud” and Martha (McCulloch) Hemmel.
Donna was a graduate of Jefferson City High School in 1956 and was a majorette with the marching band. She attended modeling school and modeled for several department stores in St. Louis and Kansas City. She enjoyed playing the piano, listening to music, collecting antiques, and spending time with family.
Donna is survived by one daughter, Gina G. Goff and spouse Laura A. Kellam of Four Seasons, MO; and many loving cousins in the Jefferson City area. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Gene Marlin Goff.
Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2011, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with Fr. Ignazio C. Medina officiating. Entombment in the Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum will be private for the family. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice. Brenda Pearl Corrigan
(March 16, 1950 - July 29, 2011)

Brenda Pearl Corrigan, 61, of Jefferson City, passed away Friday, July 29, 2011, at St. Mary’s Health Center. She was born March 16, 1950, in Jefferson City, Missouri, a daughter of the late Earl and Wonetta (South) Vahrenberg. She was a 1968 graduate of Chamois High School in Chamois, Missouri, and went on to earn her Nursing Degree in 1970 at Nichols Career Center in Jefferson City, Missouri. On September 16, 1978, Brenda was united in marriage in Jefferson City, to Daniel L. “Danny” Corrigan, who survives at their home.
Brenda worked as a Surgical Nurse at Memorial Hospital for twenty years, and was currently a Patient Accounts Representative at St. Mary’s Health Center. She was a member of Central United Church of Christ.
Brenda was the matriarch of her family, whose home and heart was always open to all. Brenda loved entertaining people, baking, cooking, and reading. She was a very strong, dedicated woman that had a great sense of humor. Brenda had a very deep faith, and was the most non-judgmental person and never spoke a bad word about anyone. She had much wisdom and gave her best advice when asked. She had a heart of gold, and was lovingly called “The Pearl of My Life” by her husband Danny. Brenda had a special little boy Chavez Loaiza, who she adored like a grandson.
Along with her husband Danny, Brenda is also survived by two daughters: Julie Phelps (husband Jarod) of Jefferson City; Ashley Corrigan (fiancé Peter Loaiza) of Holts Summit; one sister: Peggy Vahrenberg (partner Elizabeth Roman) of Jefferson City; and her first grandchild on the way.
Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at the Central United Church of Christ, with Dr. Stephen H. Buchholz officiating. Entombment will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Central United Church of Christ or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors, 2613 West Main Street; Jefferson City, Missouri 65109.

Carrie Mae Sanders
(June 15, 1916 - July 12, 2011)

Carrie Mae Sanders, 95, of Columbia, Missouri passed away Tuesday July 12, 2011 at Delmar Gardens in Creve Coeur, Missouri. She was born in Moscow, Tennessee on June, 15, 1916 to the union of Jimmy Robinson and Rebecca (Brown) Robinson. Early in her life she was united in holy matrimony to Charlie Hyler (who served as an usher at their local congregation and worked as a laborer). Charlie Hyler preceded her in death. Later, she met and married John Dallas Sanders (who served in the military and worked for United Van Lines in Columbia, Missouri until his health failed). He also preceded her in death.
Carrie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of twelve. She always found a church membership in every place she lived. She instilled the love of God and love of neighbor in all of her children. She served in her various churches as an usher and a choir member. Her membership in Second Missionary Baptist church was of great comfort to her. She was the epitome of Acts 10:38 “. . . [she] went about doing good . . .” She loved to spend time with family and neighbors, fishing, gardening and quilting. She worked as a laborer when she was young and later as a cook at the Alpha Gamma Rho house on the campus of University of Missouri at Columbia. Wherever she worked she left a positive impression in the lives she touched and those who came in contact with her.
She loved children whether they were her own, her grand children, her great grandchildren, her neighbor’s children, the young men from the fraternity, or those who “adopted” her as their grandmother.
She is survived by her children and their families: Lotie Lucille Watson-Cain of Forrest City, Arkansas; Charles Hyler of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Frances Smith of Columbia, Missouri; Clyde Hyler (Erma) of Kansas City, Missouri; Bill Hyler (Bonita) of Columbia, Missouri; Ervin Hyler (Queen) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Dyann Brooks (James) of St. Louis, Missouri; Henry Sanders of Columbia, Missouri; Betty Sanders-Lewis (Leo) of Columbia, Missouri; Johnny Sanders of Columbia, Missouri; fifty four grandchildren; one hundred forty two great-grandchildren; seventy four great-great grand children and one great great great grandchild, a host of nephews, nieces, and church family members from around the country.
Carrie was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; five children who passed away at childbirth or as infants; one step daughter: Martha Sanders and one son: Dallas Sanders. Her siblings (Clara Brown, Daisy McDaniel, Lottie Henderson, Hattie Williams, Jimmy Robinson, Everine Scott, Pearline Norris, and Becky Lou Harris) also preceded her in death.
The family wishes to recognize University of Missouri Adult Day Connection and Integrity Home Care in Columbia, Missouri. The family also acknowledges the entire staff of Delmar Gardens, Creve Coeur, Missouri and Pathway Community Hospice, Chesterfield, Missouri for the care and attention given to Mrs. Sanders. The family extends heartfelt thanks and deep gratitude to Bessie Mitchell (Higher Heights Deliverance-COGIC, St. Louis, Missouri), Lorene Cole (Trinity Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Florissant, Missouri), Anehita Adekunle (Freedom Church, Florissant, Missouri) for their care and ministry to Carrie Mae Sanders.
Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 22, 2011 at the Millard Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2011, at First Christian Church, in Columbia, Missouri with the Reverends W. C. Watson Jr. and Clyde Ruffin, officiating. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum, Columbia, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Second Missionary Baptist Church in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of MILLARD FAMILY Funeral Home, 12 E. Ash St.

Norma Lorene Greene

WARRENSBURG, Mo. - Norma Lorene Greene, age 90, of Chilhowee, MO died this Monday August 7, 2006 in Clinton, MO.

Perry Wayne Palmer
(January 13, 1951 - July 24, 2011)

Perry Wayne Palmer, 60, of Holts Summit, Missouri, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2011, at his home. He was born January 13, 1951, in Birmingham, Alabama, a son of the late James I. and Evelyn A. (Baker) Palmer. On December 17, 1972, Perry was united in marriage to Brenda J. Biggerstaff, who survives at their home.
Perry worked as Supervisor at the Fulton State Hospital from March 1, 1987 until his retirement on March 1, 2009. He attended Faith Baptist Church in Holts Summit. Perry enjoyed fishing, hunting, going to the beach, and being in the outdoors.
Along with his wife Brenda, Perry is also survived by two daughters: Shanon Johnson (husband Chris) of Jefferson City; and Deana Palmer of Jefferson City; three grandchildren: Montanna Schanuth, Summer Schanuth, Kyle Johnson; and one brother: Don Palmer of Oneonta, Alabama.
Friends will be received from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2011, at the Slater-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Holts Summit. A Candlelight Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Slater-Millard Family Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Bill Dillon officiating. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Perry Palmer family. Arrangements are under the direction of SLATER-MILLARD Family Funeral Chapel, 540 South Summit Drive; Holts Summit, Missouri 65043.

Jessie Vernice Ferguson
(January 19, 1923 - July 31, 2011)

Jessie Vernice Ferguson, age 88, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2011, at St. Mary’s Health Center surrounded by her loving family.
She was born January 19, 1923, in Jefferson City, Missouri, a daughter of Mitchell and Lillian Adams Ferguson. After her mother’s death, she was raised by her father and step-mother, Annie Ferguson. Jessie was one of six children; her sister, Marie Thompson survives in Kansas City, Missouri. Her brothers Henry, Charles, Leon and Paul also preceded her in death.
For many years, Jessie was employed at Lincoln University. She retired from the State House of Representatives in the Capitol Building after more than thirty years of service.
Jessie took great pride in being well dressed. On Sunday or special occasions, she felt everything looked better if it was color coordinated with shoes, purse and, or course, a hat. She liked her hats.
She was a proud member of Second Baptist Church in Jefferson City, Missouri, for more than sixty years, the Church Senior Group, the Needlecraft Art and Charity Club, and Tony Jenkins Unit 231 of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed watching or listening to the games. Her favorite pastimes were watching the “Bobby Jones Gospel Show”, the Food Network, listening to the KJLU Gospel Program, word find puzzles, gardening and playing BINGO anywhere—anytime. But, spending time with her family, friends and neighbors was her greatest love.
Besides her sister, Marie Thompson, she is survived by her sister-in-law, Helen Ferguson of Jefferson City; three nieces, Janice Ferguson, Ellen Ferguson and Saundra (Tyronne) Allen all of Jefferson City; three nephews, Paul Lee (Pam) Ferguson of Jefferson City, Michael (Sylvia) Ferguson of Holts Summit and Leo McGruder of Springfield; grand nieces and nephews; great-grand nieces and nephews; other relatives, cousins and a host of friends.
In addition to her parents, step-mother and siblings, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Lee Thompson; and infant grand niece and an infant grand nephew.
Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Second Baptist Church of Jefferson City, Missouri, where funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Cornell Sudduth, Rev. Lard Andrews and Rev. Geneva Whittler officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Holts Summit, Missouri. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Kidney Foundation, the American Heart Association or Second Baptist Church of Jefferson City.

Alma Jean Dunlap
(October 25, 1930 - July 28, 2011)

Alma Jean Dunlap, 80, of Columbia, passed away in her home on Thursday, July 28, 2011. She was born October 25, 1930 in Columbia, Missouri, the daughter of Qunites Griswell and Cecile (McGuire) Griswell.
She was a woman of deep faith. She worked in the clerical field early in her life. Later, she found a calling as a caregiver to both young children and the elder. She found deep satisfaction in caring for others. Alma was a member of St. Paul AME Church of Columbia.
She leaves to celebrate her home-going one daughter: Deborah Lane, of Columbia: one brother: George Griswell of Kansas City; one sister: Virginia Newton of St. Louis; nine grandchildren and eight great grand children.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Edgar J. Dunlap; and one brother: Quintas Griswell, Jr.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of MILLARD FAMILY Funeral Home, 12 E. Ash St.
