Beulah E. Martin

WARRENSBURG, Mo. - Beulah E. Martin, age 96, of Warrensburg, Missouri, passed away Monday, October 2, 2006, at the Western Missouri Medical Center.
She was born in Laurel Branch, West Virginia, on July 14, 1910, the daughter of Walter Watson and Cordie (Smith) Bell.
She married James Mark Martin and he preceded her in death on September 3, 1983.
Mrs. Martin was a homemaker and a member of the First Brethren Church of Covington, Virginia. She also attended the Memorial Baptist Church in Hardy, Virginia, and moved to Warrensburg in 2002 from Hardy.
She is survived by a daughter, Alphadine Martin of Warrensburg; two sons, Bobby Mark Martin of Henderson, Nevada, and James Dale Martin of Chester, Virginia; three brothers, Denny Bell of Clifton Ford, Virginia, Verlin Bell of Salem, Virginia and Roy Bell of Ronceverte, West Virginia; a half brother, Dalma Bailey of Covington, Virginia; a sister, Jean Miller of Covington, Georgia; five grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
Her parents; two sisters, Emma and Irma Broughman; and two brothers, Averill Bell and Alvie Bell preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2006, at the Oakey’s Vinton Chapel in Vinton, Virginia.
Pastor Jeffrey Richards will be officiating.
Burial will be in the Alleghany Memorial Park Cemetery in Covington, Virginia.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Franklin Memorial Baptist Church in Hardy, Virginia, or the American Heart Association. Local contributions may be left in care of the Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg.

Wilma Miller

Wilma Sullinger Miller of Advance, the daughter of the late Elmer and Adaline Hitt Sullinger, was born Oct. 3, 1912 at Advance and died Nov. 1, 2001 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, at the age of 89. Wilma was a homemaker and a member of Fairview General Baptist Church near Advance.
She was united in marriage to Marvin Miller on Sept. 16, 1933 at Jackson. He preceded her in death on Aug. 5, 1988. She is survived by two sons, Doyle Miller of Amarillo, Texas and Wayne Miller of Houston, Texas; by one daughter, Phyllis Richbourg of Chaffee; by one sister, Fern Noble of Advance; by three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Nov. 3 at the Morgan Funeral Home in Advance from 5 - 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the Morgan Funeral Chapel on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Ray Greenlee officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery near Advance with Morgan Funeral Home of Advance in charge of all arrangements.

Leona Janice Whitehead

Leona Janice Whitehead, daughter of the late William Elic Bailey and Lula Johnson Bailey, was born at Morley on July 29, 1919 and departed this life in the Missouri Southern Healthcare at Dexter on Oct. 30, 2001, at the age of 82. She was united in marriage to Leroy Wendell Whitehead at Bernie, Mo. on Sept. 14, 1940. To this union six children were born. Mr. Whitehead preceded her in death on Feb. 3, 1995. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Patricia Stanley and Carolyn Sue Whitehead; one son, Michael Whitehead; one grandson, Michael Ogelvie; her father, William Elic Bailey; her mother, Lula Bailey; five brothers, Herbert Bailey, Carl Bailey, Pete Bailey, Ives Bailey and Bill Bailey.
Mrs. Whitehead was a homemaker and was a member of the North End Baptist Church at Mt. Morris, Mich. She is survived by three children, Janet and husband, Louis Ogelvie of Bernie, Terry and wife, Joanne Whitehead of Linden, Mich. and Sandra Whitehead and Tom Farrell of Bullhead City, Ariz.; by a son-in-law, Gary Stanley of Mt. Morris, Mich.; by several grandchildren, Janet Lynn and Donnie Layton, Linda and Steve Fitzpatrick, all of Dexter, Tammy Ogelvie, Louis Ogelvie, Jr., both of Bernie, Keith Stanley, Karen and Jim Delorenzo, both of Swartz Creek, Mich. and Amanda Whitehead of Linden, Mich.; by several great-grandchildren, Courtney and Kasey Stanley, Felicia, Nikki and Cody Delorenzo, Tyler, Whitney and Michael Layton and Alex Fitzpatrick; by other family members, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Joyce and Bob Allison of Mt. Morris, Mich., Shirley Whitehead, Dewayne and Janie Whitehead, both of Davison, Mich., Ed and Linda Whitehead of Millington, Mich., Jean Dorris of Dexter, Melva Bailey of Port Orange, Fla. and Evelyn Bailey of Sesser, Ill. Also by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation was held at the Rainey Funeral Home in Bernie on Wednesday, Oct. 31 from 5:30 - 8 p.m. Funeral services were conducted in the Rainey Chapel in Bernie on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Joe Ogelvie officiating. Interment followed in the Bernie Cemetery with Rainey Funeral Home of Bernie in charge of all arrangements.

Patty Dunn

WARRENSBURG, Mo. - Patty Dunn, age 55, of Warrensburg, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2006, at her home.
She was born on March 15, 1951, in Buffalo Center, Iowa, the daughter of Gordon Bouhard and Jean Dowell Bouchard
On May 26, 1979, she married Richard Dunn in Warrensburg. He survives of the home.
Mrs. Dunn had worked as a Sales Clerk for Tony's Marker and a Consultant for Tupperware in Warrensburg. She was a member of the Harvest Fellowship Church, worked with the Children and Prayer ministry and the social concerns of the church. She also delivered Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Dunn; a son Isaiah Dunn both of Warrensburg; two daughters Sarah Dunn of Warrensburg and Kristy Marcotte of Trabuco Canyon, California; her mother Jean Bouchard of Trabuco Canyon, California; and nine grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her father and a sister Joyce Sigalos.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2006, at the Harvest Fellowship Church.
Pastor Michael Stith will be officiating. Burial will be in the Adams Memorial Cemetery northeast of Warrensburg. Pallbearers are Mike Hill Chris Berry, Steven Tracy, Tony Lochiano, William Jacobs III and Dallas Gamblin.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Harvest Fellowship Church.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Patty Dunn Memorial Fund and may be left in care of the Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg.

Larry Swope

WARRENSBURG, Mo. - Larry Swope went to be with the Lord on December 5, 2006, at his home in Centerview, Missouri.
Larry was born on September 27, 1939, in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, to the parents of George and Martha Cunningham Swope. He moved to a farm Northwest of Warrensburg when he was five years old.
Larry attended Long Prairie Grade School until the 7th grade. He attended Centerview Grade School during the 8th grade. Larry graduated from Warrensburg High School in 1957.
Larry and Sue Mistler were married on July 24, 1959, in Warrensburg. They had two daughters, Sherry Swope of Warrensburg and Kerri Shannon and husband, Kent, of Centerview. Also surviving are two grandson, Kyle Shannon and Timmy Russell; and two granddaughters, Leslea Selig and husband, Chuck, and Elizabeth Selig. Larry has one brother Jerry Swope of Warrensburg;
He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister Janet Swope Shepherd
Larry had been employed by J. E. Dunn Construction for 40 years as a carpenter. He was a member of the 777 Carpenter’s Union. Larry had a farm which he loved to operate. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Centerview. He had been a member of the Gun Club in Holden. He had taught 4-H Woodworking and Beef Production
Larry was the kind of person who was willing to help anybody anytime. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. See you later Alligator.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2006, at the Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg.
Burial will be in the Centerview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children’s Mercy Hospital of Kansas City and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Marcy Schreiman Oser
June 9, 1923 - November 26, 2011

Jane Marcelle “Marcy” Schreiman Oser, 88 of Warrensburg, Missouri passed away Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Country Club Care Center in Warrensburg.
Marcy was born June 9, 1923 in Carrollton, Missouri to John Calvin and Adda (Carpenter) Harrison. In 1940, she married Elmer Schreiman in Fayette, Missouri. He preceded her in death in February of 1985. In 1988, she married a high school friend, Gene Oser. The couple lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico for two and a half years. In 1990, they returned to Warrensburg to make their home near family and friends. Gene preceded her in death in 1997.
Marcy had managed Duncan’s Ready To Wear for 20 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church since 1955. She was also a member of the Golden Agers at the church; the W.M.M.C. Auxiliary; the VF.W. Auxiliary; The American Legion Auxiliary; A.A.R.P. and she had been a charter member of the Elks Ladies. She loved doing crafts and piecing quilts. Marcy went to the Senior Center several days a week to play cards. Her special group had played cards twice a month and went for breakfast one Saturday a month.
Survivors include her son, John “Keith” Schreiman and wife, Sammy of Overland Park, Kansas; three grandchildren: Brian Carpenter and wife, Tammy of Ottawa, Kansas; Brad Carpenter and wife, Lisa of Tooele, Utah; and Melissa Minor of Overland Park, Kansas; seven great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a sister, Donna Gayle Marlowe of Greenfield, Missouri; and a brother, Lloyd Harrison of Kansas City, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Karen Carpenter; four brothers: Jack, Jimmy, Ralph and Joe Harrison; and three sisters: Cheryl Harrison, Snookie Allen and Wannie Carder; and a great grandson, Bryan Jeffrey Carpenter.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg with Rev. Dennis Doyle of First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Warrensburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Karen Schreiman Carpenter Alumni F.F.A. Scholarship Fund or First Baptist Church Golden Agers.

Iris E. Patterson
November 14, 1920 - November 21, 2011

Iris E. Patterson, 91 of Warrensburg, Missouri, formerly of Springfield passed away Monday, November 21, 2011 at Country Club Care Center in Warrensburg.
Iris was born November 14, 1920 in Urbana, Illinois, daughter of George P. and Mabel A. (Payne) Cox. She spent her early childhood in Ebenezer, Missouri. She eventually moved with her mother to Willard where she graduated from high school. She attended nursing school at the Baptist Hospital in Springfield. Iris was united in marriage to N. W. “Pat” Patterson on July 6, 1941 in Willard. The couple lived in Joplin for a brief time prior to moving to Springfield. After many years, they moved to Binghamton, New York. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Warrensburg where her husband, Pat was associated with the Traffic Safety Program at C.M.S.U. Iris was a member of First Baptist Church in Springfield at one time. She had also been a member of First United Methodist Church in Warrensburg and Pleasant Valley Baptist Church near Chilhowee.
Survivors include two daughters: Emily Wright and husband, Ted of Florissant, Missouri; and Rene Schnake and husband, Leon of Warrensburg, Missouri; four grandchildren: Tony Wright and wife, Sunelda; Kelly Ann Younker and husband, Scott; Todd Schnake and wife, Pam; and Shelly Schnake; eight great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pat on October 10, 1992 and a grandson, Scott Patric Schnake.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Mount Comfort Church, near Springfield with Rev. Don Powell officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Comfort Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Todd Schnake, Dane Schnake, Dave G. Patterson, James Younker, Bo Younker and Tony Wright.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg. Visitation will resume at 12:00 noon, Saturday at the church.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Crossroads Hospice.

Jacob Lee Millstead
August 23, 1942 - November 20, 2011

Jacob Lee Millstead, 69 of Linn Creek, Missouri, formerly of Warrensburg, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, November 21, 2011 at his residence.
Jacob was born August 23, 1942 in Lebanon, Missouri, son of Bruce L. and Dorothy J. (Winfrey) Millstead. He was raised in Warrensburg, graduating from high school in 1960. He was united in marriage to Marylan F. Weide on October 10, 1978 in Miami, Oklahoma. He attended an auto body trade school in Kansas City. Jake worked for Tally Motors and also, Lenger Chrevolet in Warrensburg, prior to owning and operating Millstead Body Shop in Warrensburg for several years. Later he was employed at the auto center of the Walmart store in Clinton. He eventually transferred to the Warrensburg Walmart store, retiring in 1997. The couple moved to the lakes in 2001. Jake loved horses and being around people.
Survivors include his wife, Marylan; a son: Ron Millstead and wife, Christine of Warrensburg, Missouri; two grandchildren: Lacy Jensen and Tessa Millstead, both of Warrensburg, Missouri; three brothers: Reverend James Millstead and wife, Linda of Riverside, Missouri; Bruce Millstead and wife, Loretta of Warrensburg, Missouri; and Jerry Millstead and wife, Phyllis of Holden, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg with Ben Wilson, Associate Pastor of First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Warrensburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Millstead, Phillip Millstead, Tony Millstead, Bob Lund, Steve Muse, Steven Muse and Conner Muse.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to American Diabetes Foundation.
