Maurine Momphard, age 81, of Silex, passed away Thursday, December 16, 2010, at the Silex Community Care Center in Silex.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Silex with John Veach officiating. Burial was in the Millcreek Cemetery near Silex. Visitation was held from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at the funeral home.
She was born August 15, 1929, in Silex, the daughter of Russell and Irene Shepard McDonald.
Survivors include one son, Robert Wayne Momphard, of Silex; two granddaughters: Michelle Momphard, of Silex, Melissa Crabtree, of Moscow Mills; one great granddaughter: Melvinie Momphard; one great grandson, Caiden Crabtree; one brother, J. R. McDonald and wife Marilyn of Silex; two sisters Reta McDonald, of Jefferson City, Norma Beckemeier and husband of Deewayne, of Springfield and several nieces and nephews.
Ms. Momphard lived all her life in Silex and graduated from Silex High School. She had been employed at the garment factory in Troy. She was Mayor of Silex beginning in 1987 for 20 plus years. Maurine loved working on the Silex Festival and other projects of the City. Memorials may be made to the family of Maurine Momphard c/o Mudd-Veach Funeral Home, 606 W. Main, Bowling Green, MO 63334

Patricia (Pat) Fern Shepherd age 68, of Troy passed away Friday December 17, 2010, at her home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, at the Church of the Nazarene in Bowling Green with Rev. J. T. Carnell, Rev. Robert Warren and Rev. Aldon Veach officiating. Graveside services will be held 11:30 a.m. at the Auburn Presbyterian Church with burial in Auburn Cemetery near Silex. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green.
She was born October 19, 1942, in Ypsilanti, Mich., the daughter of Kenneth Eulas and Lois Belle Stewart Sexton. On April 30, 1960 in Poplar Bluff, she married Ivan Russell Shepherd. Survivors include four daughters Tina Blankenship and husband, Kelly, of Holts Summit, Becky Edwards and husband, Bryan, of Elsberry, Debbie Wetzig and husband, Terry, of Jefferson City, Trish Turner and husband, Jim, of Bowling Green; 5 grandchildren James Blankenship, Bryan Ande Edwards, Michael Edwards, Amy Edwards, Matthew Colbert; 3 step grandchildren Emily Helton and husband Bryon, Joshua Wetzig, Sara Wetzig; 1 step great grandchild Kristyn Wetzig; two brothers Don Sexton and wife Lilly of Poplar Bluff, Wilber Sexton of St. Charles; one brother-in-law Edmond Shepherd, of O'Fallon; and one sister-in-law, Reva Shepherd of O'Fallon.
Pat was raised in and graduated from High School in Poplar Bluff. She then moved to St. Louis and later to O'Fallon. In 1976 she moved to Troy. She worked for Lincoln County Medical Center as a Nurses Aide. In 1979 Pat attended Pike-Lincoln Vo-Tech School and obtained her LPN license. In 1981 she began working for St. Lukes Hospital in Chesterfield as an Orthopedic Nurse retiring from there in 2002. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in O'Fallon where she taught preschool/kindergarten Sunday school and later moved her membership to the Church of the Nazarene in Bowling Green.

Mrs. Alice M. Turner, 87, of Winfield, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at her daughter's residence in Foristell.
She was born on Oct. 18, 1923, in St. Louis, a daughter of Roman and Ida (Ebest) Price. On June 6, 1946, she was united in marriage with Louis Turner. They met while both working at the Small Arms Plant in Jennings. The family lived in St. Louis until moving to Winfield in 1975.
Alice was busy taking care of her growing family during those early years. Surviving are: her beloved husband of 64 years, Louis Turner; her children: Roger Turner and wife, Mary, of Kansas City, Kan. and Ronald Davis and wife, Donna, of St. Louis; Patricia Zimmerman and husband, Darwin, of Foristell and Janet Landfair and husband, Stephen, of Dardenne Prairie; two brothers: Jim Price and William (Jackie) Price and wife, Jackie, ; 21 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild. She is further survived by many other relatives and friends.
Funeral service were held at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010 at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Troy. Officiating was Deacon Howard VanBoven. Interment followed in the Valhalla Cemetery, St. Louis.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society c/o the funeral home. Visitation was held from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010 at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Troy.

Lawrence Phillip Lyons age 94, of Silex, passed away Monday September 20, 2010, at Troy Manor in Troy.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday September 23, 2010, at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Millwood with Fr. Charles Tichacek officiating. Burial will be in the St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010, at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Silex.
He was born June 9, 1916 near rural Millwood, the son of Daniel Phillip and Elza Irene Henry Lyons. On June 18, 1949, he married the love of his life Mable Cohea. She preceded him in death in 2007.
Survivors include two daughters: Alice Coose and husband, Ralph, and Betty Lyons, all of Troy; his granddaughter: Lisa Burkemper and her husband, Jesse, and their son, Dane of Troy; granddaughter Amber Arnold and husband, Jeff, and their son Brett of Jefferson City; one sister-in-law Jenny Lyons of St. Louis; nieces, nephews and friends.
Lawrence attended St. Alphonsus grade school in Millwood. During his youth and into his adult years, Lawrence enjoyed his favorite sport, baseball. In his youth he played and later umpired for various area baseball teams. His main occupation during his life was farming. He also painted barns in his early years as secondary income.
Lawrence came from a musical family where he and his siblings all played musical instruments. He played with several local musicians in the 1940's and sometimes played the banjo with his brothers, The Lyons Brothers Trio. He was a lifetime member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.
Memorals may be made to the donors choice.

Funeral service for Welma Bergesch, 90, of Sequatchie, Tenn., will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010, at the Pitman Funeral Home in Wentzville. Interment will follow in the Anderson Hill Cemetery at Moscow Mills. Visitation was held Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bergesch passed away Sept. 18, 2010, in Sequatchie.
Born May 6, 1920, in Pocahontas, Mo., she was the daughter of Benjamin and Nora Dost. Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Bergesch worked in the manufacturing line at Wagner Electric.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice in care of Pitman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 248, Wentzville, MO 63385.

Richard Preston Duvel passed away September 8, 2010, in Phoenix, Ariz.
He was born October 30, 1936, to John Downing & Mellie Riddle Duvel of Olney. He was the youngest of six children. He is survived by one sister, Nancy Spyers, a resident of the Gamma Road Nursing Home in Wellsville.
He was the beloved uncle to Steve Sanderson & his wife Elaine, of Olney, Marlene Kut of Ballwin, Tom Davidson & his wife Lillian of Middletown & the late Gary Davidson & his wife Louise, of Corso. He also leaves behind several great & great-great nieces & nephews, many cousins & a host of friends.
Richard graduated from Silex High School in 1954. He joined the Navy in 1956 and served as a medic and surgical assistant for 10 years. Richard was a multi-talented person and will be remembered for his artistic abilities, his passion for life his great humor and wit.
Richard will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Olney.

Mrs. Ardis Klyn, 73, of Troy, and formerly of Pella, Iowa, passed away on Friday, Sept. 17, 2010 at the Lincoln County Nursing and Rehab in Troy.
She was born on Jan. 15, 1937, in Pella, Iowa to Arie and Anna (Van Haalen) Van Rees. She grew up with her brother, Wayne and attended the local schools in Pella. Ardis lived in the same neighborhood as her future husband, Bob Klyn. After a short engagement, they were united in holy matrimony on June 1956. The couple was blessed with four children: Robert, Cindy, Sandy and Donna.
Ardis worked with her husband for over 30 years in their family business. They were able to travel throughout the USA and Europe with their work. She and her husband, Bob, attended the First Assembly of God Church in Troy.
Surviving are her beloved husband of over 54 years, Bob Klyn; her four children: Robert and wife Lisa Klyn of Norwalk, Iowa, Cindy and husband John Burney of Wetaskiwin, AB Canada, Sandy and husband Stephen Walsh of O'Fallon and Donna and husband Mike Combs of Moscow Mills; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and her brother: Wayne and wife Rose Van Rees of New Sharon, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
Funeral service to be held at the Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella, Iowa.

Mr. Michael "Mike" E. Parrott, 51, of Troy, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on June 20, 1959 in St. Louis to Gale and Ruth (Faust) Parrott. He had a brother, Robert and sister, Brenda.
After his high school graduation, he began working. Mike had enjoyed working for Snow Hill Nursery before his illness. Volunteering at the Asbury United Methodist Church was what he enjoyed doing.
Surviving are his loving family: his beloved wife, Wendy Parrott, of Troy; his parents: Gale and Ruth (Faust) Parrott of Troy; his children: James Parrott, of Troy, Michele Parrott, of Troy, Thomas Dockery of St. Louis, and Tina and husband Ryan Lord of Wright City and his adoring granddaughter, Isabelle. He is further survived by his siblings: Robert and wife, Pam Parrott of Fenton and Brenda Hayes of Grubbville; other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010 at 3 p.m. at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Foley. Rev. Carla Cunningham will officiate.
