Genora Jost

Genora T. Jost of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2002 at the age of 78 years.

Mrs. Jost was born at High Gate, Missouri on March 14, 1924 to Louie and Lula (Simpson) Spurgeon. She had lived on the family farm many years and on November 20, 1941 was married to Maurice Jost at Belle, Missouri. Genora was known and the best cook in Crawford County for her pies, rolls and chicken and dumplings. She was a member of Trinity Chapel, Cuba, Missouri.

She is survived by three daughters, Joyce Frasure and husband Ken of Arkansas, Mary Lou Miller and husband Kenny of Vernon, Texas and Gloria Gillespie and husband Randy of Sullivan, Missouri, one son, William M. Jost and wife Ruth of Delaware, one brother, George Spurgeon of Clarksburg, Tennessee and one sister Rozel Salts of St. James, Missouri, nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Along with her parents, Mrs. Jost was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers, Homer, John, Emery and Verlin Spurgeon and by four sisters, Meredity Licklider, Gerthy Schockley, Cema Garrison and Thelma Quaife.

Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 16, 2002 from the Hassebroek Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastors Dale Grubaugh and Gary Mace officiating. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, rural Cuba, Missouri.

Clark Bouse

John Clark Bouse of Leasburg, Missouri passed away Friday, January 31, 2003 at the age of 90 years.

Clark as he was known by family and friends, was born May 3, 1912 at Washington County, Missouri to the late Arthur and Virdie (Jarvis) Bouse. Clark lived his entire life in Washington, Franklin and Crawford counties. He was married to Opal Falloon in 1930 and one son, Dwayne Bouse was born to their union. Clark was employed in farming, factory and construction work. He found pleasure growing flowers and produce in his garden which he enjoyed sharing with his neighbors and friends. After the death of his wife, Opal, Clark was married to Juanita Pinnell on August 13, 1990 at Washington, Missouri. He was a member of the First Fundamental Baptist Church of Leasburg.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita Bouse of Leasburg, three grandchildren, Michael Bouse and wife, Karen, Christine Kade and husband, Peter all of Sullivan, Linda Geahart, three great-grandchildren, Justin Bouse and Matthew and Ryan Geahart, brother and sister in laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Along with his parents and first wife, Opal, Clark was preceded in death by his son, Dwayne Bouse, three brothers, Arthur, Clifford and Dale Bouse, three sisters, Deveda Neff, Beulah Hardy and Gladine Gehlauf.

Funeral Services were conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 2, 2003 from the chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Tony Amato officiating. Interment was in I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery. All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home.

Robert S. Claspill, Sr.

Robert S. Claspill, Sr. of Sullivan, Missouri passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at the age of 83 years.

Mr. Claspill was born on November 21, 1919 at Newburg, Missouri to Albert and Mary (Cain) Claspill. He moved with his family when he was seven years old to the Sullivan area. He was employed many years at the former International Shoe Company and later with the Missouri Highway Department as a surveyor. On February 3, 1940 he was married to Virginia Hawkins at St. Charles, Missouri and to this marriage three children were born. Mr. Claspill found pleasure in quail hunting and was an avid fox hunter. He was extremely proud of his bird dogs and fox hounds.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia of the family home, one son, James Claspill and wife Judy of Marathon, Wisconsin, 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Along with his parents, Mr. Claspill was preceded in death by a son, Robert S. Claspill, Jr., a daughter, Carol Carter, two brothers in their youth and three sisters, Helen Lemmons, Mable McKinney and Catherin Bacon.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2003 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Scott Perry officiating. Interment was in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Sullivan, Missouri. Those who desire may make memorials to the American Cancer Society.

Harold Hager

Harold L. Hager of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2003 at the age of 79 years.

Mr. Hager was born October 31, 1923 at Jefferson City, Missouri to Otto H. and Bertha (Fisher) Hager. As a boy he moved with his family to St. Louis where he was raised. On May 18, 1946 he was married to Ellen Strathman in St. Louis and to this marriage five children were born. Mr. Hager was self-employed as an upholsterer for many years. He honorably served his country during W.W.II with the U. S. Army and was a member of American Legion Post No. 385 of St. Louis. He was known as a fun loving individual who made people laugh and never knew a stranger. He enjoyed reading and camping and especially using his computer. Mr. Hager was also a member of Saint Anthony Parish of Sullivan.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen of the family home, two sons Stephen Hager and wife Peggy of Puyallup, Washington, Bartholomew Hager and wife Lisa of Fenton, Missouri, three daughters, Beverly Duncan and husband Ken of Batesville, Arkansas, Sandra Fowles and husband Jackson of Litchfield, New Hampshire, and Paula Owen and husband Chris of St. Louis, Missouri, one sister Elizabeth Anders and husband Dale of Jefferson City, Missouri, 12 grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Along with his parents, Mr. Hager was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Otto Hager.

A funeral mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 27, 2003 from St. Anthony Catholic Church in Sullivan with the Rev. Father Theodore Brunnert officating. Interment was in National Cemetery, Jefferson Barracks, MO. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.

Ralph Robbs

Ralph J. Robbs of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at the age of 79 years.

Mr. Robbs was born on May 23, 1923 at Witts Springs, Arkansas to Victoria Williams Robbs and the late Wesley Allen Robbs. He was raised in the Witts Springs area later moving to St. Louis where he was employed as a machine operator at the Guth Lighting Company. After 26 years of employment he retired from there and then made his home in the Sullivan area. He found pleasure being on the river and walking in the woods and enjoying hunting and fishing. Mr. Robbs was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in St. Louis.

He is survived by two daughters, Gladys Kassing and husband Barry, Sheryl Deann Reardon and husband Mike and a step-daughter Evelyn Cosby all of St. Louis, Missouri, one step-son, Ron Wyrick and wife Joanie of St. Louis, his mother, 105 year old Victoria Robbs of Harrison, Arkansas, one brother, Don Robbs of Stanton, Missouri, two sisters Fay Dintelman of Harrison, Arkansas and Myrtle Crickelus of St. Louis, Missouri, four grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January, 23, 2003 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri. Interment was in Witts Springs Cemetery, Witts Springs, Arkansas on Friday at 2:00 p.m. Visitation for Mr. Ralph Robbs was held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Diabetes Foundation are desired.

Hilda L. Rawlins

Hilda L. Rawlins of Sullivan, Missouri passed away Sunday, January 19, 2003 at the age of 92 years.

Hilda was born January 8, 1911 to the late James E. and Sarah L. (Kidd) Stewart at Bonne Terre, Missouri. In 1945 Hilda was married to Estle James Rawlins in St. Louis, Missouri. After living in St. Louis for a time they made their home in the High Ridge area where they remained for the majority of their married life. After retirement Hilda made her home in the Stanton and Sullivan areas where she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also liked to crochet and loved chocolate. Hilda was a long time member of the Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by two sons, Jim Rawlins and wife, Lynette of Catawissa, Missouri, Larry Rawlins and wife, Diane of Potosi, three daughters, Edith Rawlins of Sullivan, Patti Lou McCarty and husband, Linn of Farmington, Missouri, Rosalie Frances and husband, Robert of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, two step-children, Gary Rawlins of Fist, Missouri and Twila Britton of Sullivan, three sisters, Bonnie, Georgia and Juanita Rawlins, eighteen grandchildren, thirty six great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Along with her parents, Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, Estle Rawlins, one daughter, Barbara Ann Mayo, and three sisters, Gertrude, Lillian and Dorothy Rawlins.

Funeral services were conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2003 from the chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Scott Perry officiating. Interment was in Freeman Cemetery, Cherryville, Missouri. Arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.

Bertha Rector

Bertha A. Rector of Sullivan, Missouri passed away at the Meramec Nursing Center, on Monday, January 13, 2003 at the age of 75 years.

Mrs. Rector was born on November 22, 1927 at Sullivan, Missouri to Charles and Anna (Miller) Palmer. She was raised in Sullivan and on November 20, 1943 was married to Burton W. Rector. They moved to Fenton, Missouri where Bertha was a head cook at Gravois Rest Haven. She had made her home in Fenton for twenty years before coming back to the Sullivan area in 1980. Bertha was employed for a time at International Shoe Company and later Meramec Industries as a trimmer.

She is survived by two sons, Richard and David Rector, both of Sullivan and by one daughter Linda Duncan of Wentzville, Missouri, one brother, Otto Palmer of Sullivan and one sister, Laverna Hawkins of Sullivan, 13 grandchildren 6 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Along with her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, Ben and Emmett Rector and one sister, Birdie Butts.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2003 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Gary Oglesby officiating. Interment was in Warren Cemetery, Rosebud, Missouri.

Isaiah Patterson

Isaiah Brannagen Patterson was born at 4:59 p.m. on December 20, 2002 at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, St. Louis County, Missouri weighing 1 pound, 14 ounces and13 inches long.

Our Heavenly Father called Isaiah home at 8:30 p.m. on December 22, 2002. During his short stay on the earth, Isaiah touched many hearts and was cherished by all.

He leaves behind and will be sadly missed by his mother, Danielle C. Patterson of Sullivan, Missouri; grandfather, Joseph E. Patterson of St. Clair, Missouri; grandmother, Margaret Patterson of Sullivan; an aunt, Miranda Patterson; an uncle, Joshua Patterson all of the family home, many other relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 13, 2003 in Holy Martyrs of Japan Cemetery, Sullivan, Missouri with the Rev. Father Donald Carey officiating. All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.

Paul Eugene "Gene" Strauser

Paul Eugene “Gene” Strauser of Sullivan, Missouri passed away at St. John’s Mercy Hospital, Washington, Missouri on Saturday, January 11, 2003 at the age of 59 years.

Gene, as his family and friends knew him, was born on July 15, 1943 at Sullivan, Missouri to Paul J. and Anna Mae (Blankenship) Strauser. He had lived the majority of his life in the Sullivan area and had attended Sullivan High School. On July 15, 1962 he was married to Norma Luttrell in Sullivan and to this marriage four children were born. The family later moved to Washington, Missouri where they made their home for 18 years. Gene was employed as custodial maintenance supervisor of the Washington School District. The love of his life was his grandchildren and horses, he also found pleasure in traveling and debating which some people would call arguing.

He is survived by his wife Norma of the family home, three sons, Tyrone Strauser and wife Debra of New Haven, Missouri, Kevin Strauser and Chad Strauser and wife Tiffaney all of Washington, Missouri, one daughter, Stacey Dunker and husband Bob of New Haven, 11 grandchildren, Derek, Amanda, Ariel, Robby, Bryan, Chelsea, Brett, John, Wessley, Wyatt and Kyle, two brothers, Benny and Dennis Strauser and wife Sharon all of Sullivan, two sisters, Janet Koppelman and husband David and Vicky Bastecki and husband Carl all of Sullivan, special aunts, Betty Jo Woods and Bonnie Kimberlin, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2003 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Albert Pettet officiating. Interment was in Cave Spring Cemetery.
