Lorna Anne Anderson

Lorna Anne (Kuske) Anderson of Sullivan, Missouri passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2002 at the age of 71 years, 9 months, and 6 days.

Anne, as she was known by family and friends, was born October 18, 1930 to the late Charles and Louise (Neustadt) Kuske at St. Louis, Missouri. On April 28, 1950 she was married to Charles Anderson and eight children were born to their marriage. In 1963 the Anderson family moved to the Stanton area, residing on the family farm. Anne enjoyed sewing clothing for her family and had made quilts for many of her children and grandchildren. She also hand made quilts to be raffled for the V. F. W. Ladies Auxiliary, Russell Schmidt Post #3987 to which she was a faithful member since October 1988. Anne was a trustee of the ladies auxiliary, secretary from 1990 until 1995, and Buddy Poppy Chairperson. Anne was employed as a cook for the Stanton school for several years, managed the East Central College book store for a time, was secretary of the St. Clair Chamber of Commerce and was employed by the United States Post office in St. Clair. She was currently employed by Meramec State Park. In her free time she enjoyed bowling and was league champion in 1974. Anne attended and was a long time member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church.

She is survived by three sons; Richard Anderson of the state of California, John Anderson of Camdenton, Missouri, and Mark Anderson and wife, Sue of Jackman, Maine; three daughters, Linda Fritz and husband Rick of Sullivan, Missouri, Jayne Anderson Ward and friend, Terry Hanneken of St. Clair, Missouri and Annie Anderson and friend, Mike Toennes of Chetek, Wisconsin, one sister, Joyce Holm of Springfield, Missouri, 5 grandchildren, Misty Negretti, Amanda Ward, Donna Collins, Eli and Ezekiel Anderson, one step grandson, Marshall Ward, three great-grandchildren, Morgan, Desire and Charley Negretti, two step-great-grandchildren, Meghan and Emily Ward, special friends, Bob and Jean Stueve, other relatives and friends. Along with her parents, Anne was preceded in death by one son, Charles Anderson, one daughter, Joy Elizabeth Anderson, one son-in-law, Ernie Ward, and two brothers, Merril and Donald Kuske.

Funeral services were conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2002 from St, Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Sullivan with Pastor Jeffrey Duncan officiating. Interment was in Rock Hill Cemetery, Stanton, Missouri. Those who desire may make memorial contributions to St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church or Rock Hill Cemetery. Arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.

John Henry Ruwwe

John Henry Ruwwe of Flour Bluff, Texas formerly of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Monday, July 22, 2002 at the age of 93 years.

Mr. Ruwwe was born on October 5, 1908 in the Oak Hill area in Gasconade County to Henry C. and Anna Pauline (Enke) Ruwwe. On November 13, 1932 he was united in marriage to Francis Arnold and to this marriage five children were born. Francis preceded him in death in 1972. Mr. Ruwwe worked for a time at the Bank of Gerald and later became a machinist at the former Ramsey Plant in Sullivan. He honorably served his country during W.W. II with the U.S. Army Air Corps. Mr. Ruwwe was known as a honest, quiet, gentleman who had a sense of humor and also found pleasure in hunting and loved sketching and drawing.

He is survived by two sons, Norris Ruwwe and wife Helen and Robert Ruwwe and wife Wilma all of Sullivan; three daughters, Shirley Holbrook and husband Jim of Corpus Christi, Texas, Sandra Koppelmann and husband Richard of Gerald, Missouri, and Sharon Roller and husband Chris of the state of Arizona; one brother, Andy Ruwwe of Sullivan, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2002 from Holy Martyrs of Japan Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Don Carey officiating. Interment was in Holy Martyrs Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, MO.

Grant H. Halmich

Grant H. Halmich of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2002 at the age of 76 years.

Mr. Halmich was born on January 2, 1926 in the Japan area near Sullivan to Dolph and Ida E. (Riske) Halmich. He attended grade school at the old Seminary School and later attended Sullivan High School. Grant honorably served his country during W.W.II with the U.S. Navy. He attained the rank of Seaman First Class and served aboard the USS Santee. He saw action in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre and earned a Bronze Star. On June 20, 1952 he was united in marriage to Anna Marie Crow and to this union one son was born. Grant actively operated a farm along with various other jobs which included Meramec Mines, driving for Modern Garage, managing the steel shed for Wilson Construction, driving a tanker for Peterson Oil and welding at his home. He was a member of the Antique Tractor Association, Cattleman’s Association and a delegate for M.F.A. Grant was saved at an early age and knew the Lord as his Saviour.

He is survived by his wife, Anna, of the family home, one son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Vicky Halmich of Sullivan, two sisters, Carmeleta Stanton and husband Charles of St. Louis, Missouri and Tonette Barnes of Sullivan, 3 grandchildren, Jessica Morris and husband Ray, Stacy and Evan Halmich, one great-grandchild, Kohl Morris, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2002 from New Testament Baptist Church with Pastor Charles Idleman officiating. Interment was in Crow Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri. Those who desire may make memorial contributions to the A.R.D.S. Foundation.

Billy R. Tyree, Jr.

Billy R. Tyree, Jr. of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2002 at the age of 46 years.

Billy was born August 6, 1956 at Sullivan, Missouri to Billy Ray Tyree, Sr. and the late Dorann Tyree. He attended and graduated from Sullivan High School. On December 10, 1992 he was married to Mary Murray at Bourbon, Missouri. Billy was employed for nine years by Carden Machine in Sullivan. He worked in the concrete paving industry for many years, first with William A. Schuman Concrete Paving, later with J. H. Berra Paving, and also with Marschuetz Brothers Paving. Billy was a hard worker, who was dedicated to his job. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time outdoors and hunting. He loved his family most of all and was happiest when they were with him. Two years ago Billy excepted Christ as his personal Savior. He and Mary attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Sullivan. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Mary Tyree (Murray) of the family home, one daughter, Shasta M. Tyree of Sullivan, three step-sons, Harry Dawson of Steelville, Chris Dawson and wife, Julie, and Shayne Dawson all of Sullivan, his father and step-mother, Bill, Sr. and Mary Tyree of Sullivan, two brothers, Lance Tyree and wife, Stacy of Sullivan and Audie Tyree also of Sullivan, 5 step-grandchildren, Zech, Brittany, Justin, Kathleen and Timothy Dawson, two nieces, Tiffany and Callie Tyree, one nephew, Blane Tyree other relatives and friends. Billy was preceded in death by his mother, Dorann Tyree and a step-son, Jeremy Dawson.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2002 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with cremation to follow. Arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home.

Glenora M. Sherrick

Glenora M. Sherrick of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2002 at the age of 84 years, 10 months and 29 days.

Mrs. Sherrick was born on October 23, 1917 at Blue Jacket, Oklahoma to Charles and Pearl (Toles) Walker. She graduated High School there and in 1951 came to Missouri and settled in the St. Clair area. She later moved to Sullivan in 1951 where she was employed as a telephone operator for Fidelity Telephone Company. She was promoted to Chief Operator and Service Analyst before retiring in 1982. Mrs. Sherrick enjoyed country music and as hobbies found pleasure in crocheting, sewing and painting. She was also a member of the Church of Christ in Sullivan.

Three sons and daughters-in-law, Sherman and Nancy Sherrick of Liberty, Missouri, Bob and Doris Sherrick of Peculiar, Missouri and Jerry and Joan Sherrick of Sullivan, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends survive her. Two grandsons, Glen and Kyle Sherrick preceded her in death as did four brothers, W.J., Major, Clyde and Kenneth Walker preceded Mrs. Sherrick and five sisters, Hallie Walker, Hazel Johnson, Violet Horton, Leona Davis and Grace Taylor.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2002 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with interment in I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Visitation for Mrs. Glenora Sherrick will be from 7 until 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or the Kelly-Sherrick Endowed Scholarship Fund at William Jewell College.

Lillian I. Huff

Lillian I. Huff of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2002 at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 29 days.

Mrs. Huff was born on December 17, 1921 at Leadwood, Missouri to John and Elsie (Hulsey) Penberthy. At the age of nineteen she became a Beauty Operator and continued in this career throughout the majority of her life. On February 5, 1949 she was married to James Robert Huff at Flat River, Missouri. In 1960 they moved to the Sullivan area where her husband was employed at Meramec Mines. Mrs. Huff was known as a lady who had a sense of humor and enjoyed collecting antiques, dishes and teddy bears. She also found pleasure in traveling and camping. Mrs. Huff was also a member of Temple Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband Robert Huff, one son Robert N. Caler of Terre de Lac, Missouri; two daughters, Kathy Lock and Elizabeth Williams both of Sullivan; two brothers, Randall Penberthy of Troy, Missouri and John A. Penberthy of Richmond, Virginia; one sister, Rosalee Simms of Troy, Missouri, 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Huff was preceded in death by on brother, Gerald Penberthy and one sister, Marian King.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2002 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with interment in I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Visitation for Mrs. Lillian Huff will be from 5 until 9 p.m. on Wednesday from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. Memorials to the Alzeheimer’s Association or BJC Hospice are suggested in lieu of flowers.

Eugene F. Haase

Eugene F. Haase of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2002 at the age of 86 years.

Mr. Haase was born on December 18, 1915 at Whiteville, Tennessee to Charles Frederick and Martha (Legget) Haase. For twelve years he owned and operated a dry-cleaning business in Sullivan and later was a manager for the former P.N. Hirsh Co., retiring from there after twenty years. Mr. Haase was a former member of the Sullivan Boosters Club, Volunteer Fire Department, Rotary Club and Sullivan School Board. He was also active in the P.T.A. serving as it’s President and also sat on the Board of the Sheltered Workshop. He was also active in Scouting for many years. On May 11, 1935 he was united in marriage to Inez Hardy at Corinth, Mississippi and to this union three sons were born. Mr. Haase was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Sullivan where he was a former Sunday School Superintendent, and taught the men’s Sunday school class.

He is survived by his wife Inez of the family home; three sons, Bob Haase of Bourbon, Missouri, Larry Haase of El Paso, Texas, and Jerry Haase of Bay Minnette, Alabama; one sister, Margaret Stockard of Memphis; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Mr. Haase was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Alvin and Edward Haase.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2002 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with interment in I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Gene Haase will be from 4:30 until 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.

Billy H. Wilkerson

Billy H. Wilkerson of Bourbon, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2002 at the age of 72 years.

Mr. Wilkerson was born on June 30,1930 at Canalou, Missouri to Walter and Lockie May (Weatherford) Wilkerson. He was married to Daisey______ who preceded him in death. He later was married to Anna Cochran Buff on ___________. Mr. Wilkerson was a veteran of the Korean War and honorably served his country with the U.S. Air Force. After his discharge, he worked for a time at McDonald-Douglass in St. Louis and later became self-employed as a tavern owner. He also enjoyed playing drums in a band. Mr. Wilkerson was known as a shy individual who found pleasure in yardwork and gardening. He also dabbled in electronics, satellite dishes and televisions. Mr. Wilkerson was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and a member of First Baptist Church in Bourbon.

He is survived by his wife Anna of the family home, a step-son, Darrell Buff and wife Wendie of Sullivan, one brother, Lee Wilkerson, seven sisters, Ellen Bruno, Mable Kashamer, Hazel Lowery, Betty Livingston, Faye Chulski, Jerry Porterfield and Agnes Hilton, a step-granddaughter, Lori Buff of Imperial, Missouri, other relatives and friends. Along with his first wife and parents, Mr. Wilkerson was preceded in death by a brother Robert Darnell Wilkerson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 13, 2002 from the First Baptist Church in Bourbon with interment at 2 p.m. in Polk Cemetery, Arcadia, Missouri. Visitation form Mr. Bill Wilkerson will be from 4:30 until 9 p.m. at the Eaton Funeral Chapel in Bourbon.

Boone Hartzell

Melvin L. (Boone) Hartzell of Sullivan passed away Friday, August 30, 2002 at the age of 71 years.

Boone, as he was known by family and friends was born May 31, 2002 at Leadwood, Missouri to the late John Wesley and Fannie W. (Reynolds) Hartzell. He attended Leadwood schools and later attended and graduated from a two year technical school. On June 25, 1950 he was married to Lawana Newcomer at Flat River, Missouri and four children were born to this union. In 1958 Mr. and Mrs. Hartzell moved their family to the Sullivan area and Boone was employed by the former Meramec Mining Company, first as a miner and later as a supervisor. He remained in that position for 37 years. He and as wife later volunteered for Missouri State Parks for over 12 years, which they enjoyed very much. Boone also enjoyed trout fishing, camping, watching old westerns and arriving early for everything. Boone was a family man and loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a past member of the Sullivan Masonic Lodge #69 A.F. and A.M. and also of Grace United Methodist Church in Sullivan.

He is survived by his wife, Lawana Hartzell of Sullivan, three sons, James Hartzell and wife, Judy of Sullivan, Mark Hartzell and wife, Joyce of Bourbon, Michael Hartzell and wife, Linda of Sullivan, one daughter, Kelley Schoolcraft and husband, Brett of Sullivan, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one brother, Larry Hartzell of Bonne Terre, Missouri, two sisters, Thelma Miner and husband, Sonny of Oats, Missouri, Helen Hartzell of Salem, Missouri, nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends. Along with his parents, Boone was preceded in death by one half-sister, Josephine Norton and one sister, Ruth Hartzell.

Arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home.
