Margaret Mary Rohrer

Margaret Mary Rohrer of Bourbon, Missouri, passed away at her home on Wednesday, September 6, 2000 at the age of 84 years.

Mrs. Rohrer was born May 13, 1916 in Bourbon to the late Edmund L. and Edith Bertha (Franklin) Casey. She was a life long resident of the Bourbon area and in December of 1938 she was married to Walter C. “Bud” Rohrer in Little Rock, Arkansas. Mrs. Rohrer was a business lady in the community for several years having operated a furniture store, Laundromat and rental property.

She is survived by two nieces, Rhonda Puebla of Sullivan, Missouri and Mary Pineda of Bourbon, great-nieces and nephews, Colby Williams, Chris McCance, Shelby Boehmer, Kelly McCance, Darci Paul, Daxell Puebla and a special great-niece, Rachelle (Boobie) VanLue other relatives and special friends, Donna Lindaman, Doris Coffel and Inge Lovell. Mrs. Rohrer was preceded in death by her husband “Bud” Rohrer in 1965 and later by her brother Edmund Casey, Jr., and a sister Ollie Casey.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 9, 2000 from the Eaton Funeral Chapel in Bourbon with the Rev. Father Robert Duesdieker officiating. Interment was in Bourbon Cemetery. If desired memorials to the Kidney Foundation may be made in the name of Margaret Mary Rohrer.

Paul G. Blesi

Paul Blesi of Sullivan passed away Sunday, September 17, 2000 at the age of 73 years.

Mr. Blesi was born October 16, 1926 at Spring Bluff, Missouri to the late Henry and Elizabeth (Daniken) Blesi. Paul attended Spring Bluff R15 School and Sullivan High School, graduating in 1943. He honorably served his country with the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Blesi was a graduate of the University of Missouri at Columbia with a Masters Degree in Agricultural Economics. On September 10, 1948 Paul was married to Geraldine Hollander at Sullivan, and four children were born to this union. Mrs. Blesi preceded him in death after 47 years of marriage. Mr. Blesi was an entrepreneur in the manufacturing and grocery industries, owning and operating several businesses in Sullivan area which included Midwest Footwear, Mid America Shoe Corporation, and Frick’s Central Market, in Sullivan and Union. He served the community in many areas including school board member, American Federal Savings and Loan board member, past president of Mid America Grocers, Missouri Grocers Association, former member of Sullivan Rotary Club and charter member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Sullivan. On December 26, 1995 Paul was married to Lela Stevesand at Union, Missouri. Mr. Blesi was admired by his many employees and enjoyed traveling and cooking. In recent years he attended Zion United Church of Christ in Union. Although he enjoyed his many business ventures and the friends he made through them, the greatest times of his life were spent with his family whom he loved above all else.

He is survived by his wife, Lela (Stevesand) Blesi of Sullivan, one son, Gene Blesi and wife, Kathy of Sullivan, three daughters, Susan McNary and husband, Gene of St. Louis, Betsy Bryan Patterson of Manchester, Missouri, Dr. Lisa Breer and husband, Mike of St. Louis, three step daughters, Cathy Teater and husband, Jim, Nancy Schuenemeyer and husband, Tom, Mary Beth Bean and husband, Lindell, three sisters, Elda Alexander and husband, Charles, of Sullivan, Margaret Eime and husband, Harlin, of Pacific, Joyce Knaus, and husband Roy, of the state of New Jersey, one brother in law, Gene James, one sister in law, Helen Blesi of Sullivan, six grandchildren, Cristina and Ariana Pippa, of St. Louis, Alexander and Zachary Bryan of Manchester, and Nicole and Eric Breer of St. Louis, five step-grandchildren, one step- great grandchild, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Along with those previously mentioned, Mr. Blesi was preceded in death by one brother, John Blesi, and one sister, Virginia James.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2000 from Zion United Church of Christ in Union, Missouri with Pastor Dave Brune officiating. Interment was in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Sullivan, Missouri. Visitation for Mr. Paul Blesi was from 4:30 until 9:00 p.m. on Monday at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Paul Blesi Oncology Nursing Education Fund.

Sylvia Hutchings

Sylvia G. Hutchings of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Monday, September 18, 2000 at the age of 90 years.

Mrs. Hutchings was born on September 2, 1910 in St. Louis County, Missouri near Lemay to the late Alfred and Gertrude (Chrismer) Weiss. She made her home in that area until 1935 when she moved to Potosi, Missouri. On August 14, 1930 she was joined in marriage to Luther Carl Hutchings in Redbud, Illinois, and to this union four daughters were born. While living in Potosi, Mrs. Hutchings was involved in many clubs and organizations. She provided many volunteer hours to those in need, working in the Cancer Closet and various ladies groups within the First Presbyterian Church of Potosi. Mrs. Hutchings was the first lady elected to the Potosi Board of Education, and was supervisor of the first school cafeteria at Potosi High School.

She is survived by three daughters, Beverly Castelli and husband, Vincent, Karen Stern and husband, Richard, and Sharron Kelly and husband, William; six grandchildren, Karen Jane Castelli, Kurt Stern, Traci L. Monk, Richard H. Stern, Carol Kotteman and William J. Kelly III; five great-grandchildren, Erich, Addison and Meghan Monk, Jessica Kotteman and Cyle Kelly; one sister-in-law, Joyce Weiss; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hutchings was preceded in death by her husband, Luther, in 1969, an infant daughter, Sandra Carol Hutchings, one brother, Alfred Weiss, one sister, Lucille Nettman, and one grandson, Erich Stern.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2000 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri with interment in the Methodist Cemetery, Caledonia, Missouri. Visitation for Mrs. Sylvia Hutchings will be from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2000 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. Those who desire may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.

Berniece L. Montgomery

Bernice L. Montgomery of Sullivan passed away Monday, October 9, 2000 at the age of 72 years.

Bernice was born April 10, 1928 to the late John and Fairy May (Hull) Queen at Caledonia, Missouri. She grew up in what was known as Elvins, Missouri, which is now known as Park Hills. She graduated from Elvins High School and on August 25, 1945 was married to Elmo Montgomery at Potosi, Missouri. In 1963 the Montgomery family moved to Sullivan. Elmo and Bernice owned and operated the Oak Grove Trailer Park and Bernice was very involved in running the business. Bernice was a “take charge” type of person who was concerned about all of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She enjoyed cooking and especially liked to prepare holiday dinners for her family. Bernice was a member of the Elvins Baptist Church and had attended Temple Baptist Church since moving to Sullivan in 1963.

She is survived by her husband, Elmo Montgomery; two sons, Billy Montgomery and wife, Jean, Terry Montgomery and wife, Joyce, one daughter, Becky West and husband, Greg, all of Sullivan; seven grandchildren, Douglas Montgomery of Bourbon, Andrea Levinson and husband, Alex of Linn, Missouri, Michael and Steven Montgomery, Cory, Nicole, and Christopher West, all of Sullivan; three great-grandchildren, Vinny and Grant Montgomery of Sullivan, and Nathan Levinson of Linn; one brother, Edwin Queen of Desoto, Missouri; one sister, Eunice Porter of Ontario, California; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Along with her parents, Mrs. Montgomery was preceded in death by one brother, August Queen, three sisters, Gladys Patterson, Agnes Smith, and Helen Diemund.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2000 at Temple Baptist Church in Sullivan with Pastor Scott Perry officiating. Interment was in I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Temple Baptist Church or the American Heart Association in memory of Bernice Montgomery.

Anderson, Bea

Beatrice B. Anderson of Sullivan, MO passed away at her small country home in rural Sullivan on Friday, September 24, 2010 at the age of 84 years.

Bea was born to Grover and Myrtle (Clifford) Center in Arcadia, MO on October 14, 1925. Bea spent most of her school years in the Sullivan area schools.

As a young woman, Bea devoted her life to Christ and has been a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Union, Missouri, for the last five years.

Bea was a long time member of the Boone Creek Homemakers’ Extension Club and the Sullivan Lions Club. Her life revolved around her family and she loved to cook and care for them.

She is survived by a son, Mark Wymer of Sullivan, Missouri; two daughters, Carol Ann Stringer of Leasburg, Missouri, and Sue Koch and husband Stanley of Sullivan, Missouri; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Bea was preceded in death by her husband, Wally Anderson, of Sullivan, Missouri. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Virgil Center of Steelville, Missouri, and a sister, Virginia Robinson of San Diego, California and a great-great-grandson, Connor Bailey.

Visitation for Bea was held Sunday, September 26, 2010, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.

Funeral Services were conducted at 10:00am on Monday, September 27, 2010, at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Union, Missouri, with interment in the Koch Family Cemetery, Sullivan, Missouri.

Mary Ethel Kline

Mary Ethel Kline of Sullivan passed away on Friday, October 13, 2000 at the age of 82 years.

Mrs. Kline was born on August 10, 1918 at Neely’s Landing, Missouri to the late John Ira and Adelia Alice (Corneau) Gallinger. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Sullivan, and has remained a lifelong resident of Sullivan. On October 26, 1935 she was joined in marriage to Paul Kline in St. Charles, Missouri, and to this union three children were born. While her children were young, she served her family as a homemaker, wife, and mother. She also worked later in life for various shoe factories in Sullivan and Union. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, bird watching, crafts, raising flowers, cooking, and boat riding. She was also a longtime member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Sullivan. She was a caring and compassionate woman who was especially known as a nurturer of children. Her favorite person would be the smallest one in the room. In her heart, kids came first in everything.

She is survived by two sons, Robert L. Kline of Sullivan and Ronald Paul Kline and wife, Sally of Kewaunee, Wisconsin; one daughter, Joyce Ann Smith and husband, Jack of St. Robert, Missouri; one sister, Noreen Marks of Sullivan; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a special nephew, Roger Berry; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kline was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Kline; three brothers, Albert, Virgil, and Percy Gallinger; four sisters, Dorothy Woodcock, Bernice Sappington, Gertrude Falloon, and Lois Berry; and three grandchildren, Glen Kline, and Sheryl Ann and Carol Ann Bayless.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 16, 2000 from St. John’s Episcopal Church in Sullivan with Father Tom Doyle officiating. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. If desired, contributions may be made to the Lake Ozark Hospice in memory of Mary Ethel Kline.

Ruth Johnston

Ruth D. Johnston of Sullivan passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2000 at the age of 82 years.

Ruth was born on June 28, 1918 to the late Dewey and Blanche (Young) Thornhill at Pacific, Missouri. On September 28, 1937 Ruth was married to Roy L. Johnston at Sullivan and two children were born to their marriage. Roy and Ruth had recently celebrated 63 years of marriage. Ruth was employed by the former Williams and Meyers Real Estate Company as a sales associate and in her spare time she enjoyed playing cards, dancing, fishing and traveling. But the most important thing in Ruth’s life was her role as wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was everything to her and the joy of her life. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sullivan.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Johnston, one son, James Johnston, one daughter, Jane Jackson and husband, Mike all of Sullivan, four grandchildren, Shawn Todaro and husband Jason of Florissant, Missouri, Jamie Johnston, Christina and Lance Jackson all of Sullivan, one great- grandchild, Mackenzie Todaro, of Florissant, three sister-in-laws, Lula Johnston of Sullivan, Lucille Vance of Farmington, and Margaret Wiese of the state of Texas, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Along with her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her step-father, Michael Mayberry.

Graveside Services were conducted 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2000 from I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Sullivan, Mo. with Rev. Mike Bates officiating. Arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
