SEEGERS

Richard Seegers, 75, Crocker, died March 7, 2000, at Lake Regional Health Center, Lake Ozark.

He was born July 17, 1924, in St. Louis, a son of Theodore and Ella Geotha Seegers. He was married Sept. 9, 1944, in St. Louis, to LaVerna Knox, who survives at the home.

He was a lithograph press operator for John S. Swift Printing, St. Louis, for 32 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of Crocker Christian Church.

A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of American Legion Post 195, Crocker.

He also is survived by two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Three sons, Richard Clyde Seegers, Sherman David Seegers and Charles Theodore Seegers, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Crocker. Rick Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Crocker Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today and from 9-10 a.m. Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to the Crocker Christian Church Building Fund.

KAUFER

George Kaufer Jr., 49,  Jefferson City, died March 6, 2000, at Des Peres Hospital, Des Peres.

He was born May 2, 1950, in Blaichenbach, West Germany, a son of George and Elizabeth Kraus Kaufer. His mother, Elizabeth Bode, survives in Brooksville, Fla.

He graduated from Roosevelt High School, St. Louis. He worked at Coy's Moving and Storage for seven years and at Greenfield Restaurant, Columbia, Ill., for 13 years. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Other survivors include: one son, Kenneth Kaufer,  Jefferson City; one daughter, Tina Basnett,  Jefferson City; one brother, Jacob Kaufer, Midland, Texas ; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. Doug McGlaughlin will officiate. Burial will be in Longview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to the George Kaufer Jr. Memorial Fund.

HOPKINS

Helen Hopkins, 91, Otterville, died March 6, 2000, in Otterville.

She was born Nov. 2, 1908, in Mountain Grove, a daughter of Elias T. and Anna Marie Frisk Bellamy. She was married June 30, 1928, to Earl Gordon Hopkins, who died June 20, 1980.

A homemaker, she was retired from Tipton Manufacturing. A former Smithton resident, she was a member of Smithton Baptist Church.

Survivors include: one son, Roy Hopkins, Otterville; four daughters, Billie Sue Busby, LaVon, Texas , Roxie McGrath, Urbana, Saundra Barragan, St. Louis, and Janett Carlyle, Lee's Summit; one sister, Avis Waddell, Lee's Summit; 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

One daughter, Joetta Darnell Ekstrand, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren preceded her in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. Jerry Brock will officiate. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to the Smithton Baptist Church, or to the Bothwell Regional Health Center Hospice in Sedalia.

GARDNER

Edgar Dee Gardner, 81, Ashland, died March 7, 2000, at Ashland Healthcare.

He was born April 10, 1918, in Climax Springs, a son of Dee and Ruby White Gardner. He was married March 24, 1954, in  Jefferson City, to Inez Perry, who survives at the home.

A lifelong farmer, he served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, Hartsburg.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Karin Davis, Columbia, and Marcia Martin, Clark.

One daughter, Janice Gardner, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 7 p.m. today at Robinson Funeral Home, Ashland. The Rev. Steve Miller will officiate.

Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the New Hope Baptist Church Youth Group, 6210 Claysville Road, Hartsburg, Mo. 65039, or to a charity of the donor's choice.

BYBEE

Shelley M. Bybee, 87, Warsaw, died March 6, 2000, at Lincoln Community Nursing Home, Lincoln.

He was born Dec. 18, 1912, in Cross Timbers, a son of James M. and Maude Mae Richardson Bybee. He was married Feb. 2, 1931, in Climax Springs, to Gladys Hester Woolery, who died Oct. 30, 1994. He was married March 23, 1996, in Warsaw, to Leta Dawson, who survives at the home.

He worked as a service man and driver for Brownie Hart in Warsaw, and later with Skelgas. Most recently, he was self-employed, working on heating and air conditioning systems and plumbing services before retiring.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Warsaw, and was a charter member of the United Methodist Men.

Other survivors include: one son, Edwin Bybee,  Jefferson City; one brother, Bill Bybee, Independence; and three grandsons.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Diana Loomis will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Warsaw.

Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. today at Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.

Memorials are suggested to the Gideons or the United Methodist Church.

MILLER

Jana S. Miller, 44, Gravois Mills, died March 7, 2000, at Lake Regional Health Center, Osage Beach.

She was born May 8, 1955, in Kansas City, a daughter of Harry and Sue Hunchberger Barrett .

She was a waitress and a member of West Lake Christian Church, Laurie.

Survivors include: one son, Brian Miller, of the home; one daughter, Traci Miller, of the home; and one brother, Scott Barrett, Royal Palm Beach, Fla.

Services will be at 7 p.m. today at West Lake Christian Church. The Rev. Jack Daniel will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to a trust fund for her children c/o West Lake Christian Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie.

TARRANTS

Vivian Lee Tarrants, 46,  Jefferson City, died March 7, 2000, at her home.

She was born Sept. 17, 1953, in Baltimore, a daughter of Charles and Ashby Eblin Morgan. She was married Sept. 17, 1975, in Baltimore, to Danny L. Tarrants Sr., who survives at the home.

A homemaker, she attended Immanuel Lutheran Church, Honey Creek.

Other survivors include: one son, Danny L. Tarrants Jr., Chesapeake, Va.; one daughter, Leigh D. Dunlap,  Jefferson City; four brothers, Charles Morgan, Douglas Morgan, Michael Morgan and Tracy Morgan, all of Baltimore; two sisters, Margaret Morgan and Glenda Manzari, both of Baltimore; and two grandchildren.

Private family services will be at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.

EASLEY

Violet N. Easley, 68, Fulton, died March 8, 2000, at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia.

She was born April 2, 1931, in St. James, a daughter of Charles A. and Rose Ellen Adair Busby. She was married Aug. 26, 1950, in Mokane, to Woodrow Wilson Easley, who died Feb. 26, 1990.

She was a dietary worker at Fulton State Hospital for 30 years before retiring. She also worked at the Missouri School for the Deaf and the Fulton Shoe Factory.

Survivors include: one son, Charles Woodrow Easley, Fulton; two daughters, Utana Sou Goodin, Fulton, and Oveta Babette Vieth,  Jefferson City; five sisters, Eileen Pitts, Cuba, June Furlong, Mokane, Joetta West,  Jefferson City, and Betty Vandelicht and Marie Brookins, both of Fulton; one brother, Clifford Adair, Jerseyville, Ill.; one half brother, Dennis Busby, Stillwater, Minn.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Maupin Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. Rod Casey will officiate. Burial will be in Auxvasse Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

FARRIS

George "Plum" Farris, 61, Fulton, died March 7, 2000, at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia.

He was born March 3, 1939, in Calwood, a son of Charles E. and Ethel Esrigg Farris. He was married to Lenora Dye, who survives in Fulton.

He was a firefighter in Fulton for 12 years.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Bonnie Vestal, Mexico, and Tammy Relford, Auxvasse; three stepsons, Steve Dye, West Bend, Wis., Jody Dye, St. Louis, and Tony Dye, Fulton; one stepdaughter, Jackie Ison, Williamsburg; three brothers, Emmett E. Farris, Fulton, Charles "Tiny" Farris Jr., state of Arizona, and Donald Lee Farris, Mexico; one sister, Margaret Brewer; two half brothers, Joe Maddox, Fulton, and Don Maddox, Calwood; two half sisters, Rosa Garrett and Peggy Roberson, both of Columbia; and 19 grandchildren.

One stepson, James William "Boscoe" Dye, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Fulton.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

HERTZLER

Benny Leroy Hertzler, 76, Linn Creek, died March 7, 2000, at his home.

He was born Aug. 19, 1923, in St. Louis, a son of Francis and Mabel Etherton Hertzler. He was married June 5, 1943, in Overland, to Bernadette Marie Bright, who survives at the home.

He retired from Marriott's Tan-Tar-A in 1985. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Lake of the Ozarks Arts and Crafts Guild.

Other survivors include: one son, Christopher Hertzler, Linn Creek; four daughters, Nancy Lee Culver, Osage Beach, Katherine Jeanne Gent, Norman, Okla., Marianne Samuelson, Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, and Bernadette Marie Whittle, Linn Creek; one sister, Inez Hertzler Bodley, St. Louis; and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Harper Chapel United Methodist Church, Osage Beach. The Rev. Chris Oetting and the Rev. Paul Samuelson will officiate. Burial will be in Laughlin Cemetery, Camdenton.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Allee-Reed Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the Sisters of Notre Dame, 320 E. Ripa Ave., St. Louis, Mo. 63125.
