HURTT

Arthur James Hurtt, 75, Gravois Mills, died May 28, 2000, in Gravois Mills.

He was born Oct. 1, 1924, in St. Louis, a son of Arthur G. and Gertrude Smitters Hurtt. He was married Feb. 3, 1962, in New Bloomfield, to Jane Ann Yows, who survives at the home.

He attended Normandy schools and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers Local 1 in St. Louis, from which he retired in 1988. He was a member of the Pipecover Retired Club and recently received his 50-year pin.

After retirement, he lived in Florissant and at the Lake, where he drove around "P" Road Crime Watch in the Gravois Mills area. He was a Catholic.

Other survivors include one sister, Sister Rita Maureen Hurtt S.L., Kansas City.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Debo Funeral Home, Holts Summit. The Rev. Don Powers will officiate. Burial will be in Dry Fork Cemetery, Guthrie.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today.

JANSSEN

Elmer Vernon Janssen, 77, Iberia, died May 29, 2000, at his home.

He was born May 10, 1923, in St. Louis, a son of John and Sarah Truman Janssen. He was married March 23, 1945, in St. Louis, to Catherine Irene Hoeckle, who died June 2, 1998.

An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he was a heavy equipment operator.

Survivors include: two sons, Larry Janssen and John Janssen; two daughters, Randa McAllister and Tracy Caldwell; two brothers, Walter Janssen and Ervin Janssen; one sister, Ann Kelly; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

One son, Ronald Janssen, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The Rev. Gary Longenecker will officiate. Burial will be in Lake Memorial Cemetery, Osage Beach.

Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Wednesday.

KLIETHERMES

Roman G. Kliethermes, 79, Linn, died May 28, 2000, at his home.

He was born Feb. 17, 1921, in Osage County, a son of William and Dora Krieg Kliethermes. He was married May 23, 1947, in Rich Fountain, to Alma Bock, who preceded him in death May 28, 2000.

He attended Sacred Heart School, Rich Fountain, and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. A lifelong area resident, he was a farmer. He worked for the Missouri Highway and Transportation Department and the Missouri Department of Corrections until his retirement in 1985.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Rich Fountain, the Men's Sodality, the Western Catholic Union and the American Legion.

Survivors include: three sons, William F. Kliethermes, Linn, Robert H. Kliethermes,  Jefferson City, and James J. Kliethermes, Wardsville; two daughters, Mary Lea Berhorst, Westphalia, and Ruth A. Strope, Linn; one brother, Lawrence Kliethermes, Linn; two sisters, Catherine Bish, Linn, and Mary Lou Voss, Sedalia; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Church. The Rev. Kevin Gormley will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery, Rich Fountain.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Morton Funeral Home, Linn, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Missouri River Hospice or Sacred Heart Church.

KLIETHERMES

Alma C. Kliethermes, 79, Linn, died May 28, 2000, at Westphalia Retirement Center, Westphalia.

She was born July 6, 1920, in Osage County, a daughter of Frank H. and Mary Nilges Bock. She was married May 23, 1947, in Rich Fountain, to Roman G. Kliethermes, who also died May 28, 2000.

She attended Sacred Heart School, Rich Fountain. A lifelong area resident, she was a homemaker. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Rich Fountain, the Ladies Sewing Circle and St. Ann's Sodality.

Survivors include: three sons, William F. Kliethermes, Linn, Robert H. Kliethermes,  Jefferson City, and James J. Kliethermes, Wardsville; two daughters, Mary Lea Berhorst, Westphalia, and Ruth A. Strope, Linn; three sisters, Margaret Toebben, St. Martins, and Hilda Bemboom and Dorothy Morgan, both of  Jefferson City; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Church. The Rev. Kevin Gormley will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery, Rich Fountain.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Morton Funeral Home, Linn, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Missouri River Hospice or Sacred Heart Church.

LOOTEN

Wayne Edward Looten, 65, Eugene, died May 29, 2000, at his home.

He was born Oct. 21, 1934, in Henley, a son of Edward J. and Orpha Looten. His mother and stepfather, Orpha and Herb Thompson, survive in Kansas City, Kan. His stepmother, Opal Looten, survives in Henley. He was married Jan. 23, 1955, in Hickory Hill, to Dorothy Jo Sestak, who survives at the home.

A graduate of Eugene High School, he worked for A & P Supermarkets for 14 years before joining Prudential Insurance Co., where he was a manager for 30 years before his retirement. He served on the Cole County Planning Commission and was a longtime member of the Life Underwriters Association.

He was a member of Hickory Hill Baptist Church, Eugene.

Other survivors include: two sons, Richard Wayne Looten, Columbia, and Steven Lee Looten, Quincy, Ill.; one daughter, Michelle Delene Morton, Columbia; three brothers, Donald Looten and Frankie Looten, both of Henley, and Jerry Thompson, Jamesport; two sisters, Patricia Breedlove and Diane Barnes, both of Kansas City, Kan.; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hickory Hill Baptist Church. The Rev. Shane Crum will officiate. Burial will be in Hickory Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Weber and Sons Funeral Home, Russellville.

Memorials are suggested to Hickory Hill Baptist Church.

MILORO

Madeline Theresa Miloro, 92, De Soto, died May 27, 2000, at St. Anthony's Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 13, 1907, in Galitzin, Pa., a daughter of Lewis F. and Minnie Mae Mathews Danible. She was married to Joseph Miloro Sr., who preceded her in death.

A homemaker, she was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.

Survivors include: two daughters, Mary Wright and Gloria Jean Bickel, both of De Soto; two sons, Joseph Miloro Jr.,  Jefferson City, and Edward Miloro, Rolla; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, De Soto. The Rev. Ron Hopmeir will officiate. Burial will be in Rolla City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association, 2650 S. Hanley Rd., Suite 350, St. Louis, Mo. 63144, or the Bureau for the Blind.

OUSLEY

Autumn Paige Ousley, 9, Fulton, died May 26, 2000, from injuries sustained in a traffic accident near Westphalia.

She was born Feb. 6, 1991, in Rock Springs, Wyo., a daughter of William T. "Tom" and Catherine Elaine White Ousley. Her parents survive in Fulton.

Other survivors include two brothers, two sisters and her paternal grandparents, William H. and Veda Ousley, Crocker.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Kordes Funeral Home, Vienna. Burial will be in Clifty Cemetery near Dixon.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to Clifty Cemetery.

PARKER

Henry C. Parker, 95,  Jefferson City, died May 29, 2000, at Hospice of  Jefferson City and Mid-Missouri.

He was born Dec. 3, 1904, in Eminence, a son of James and Allie Parker. He was married Dec. 23, 1929, in St. Louis, to Adele McClain, who died Aug. 1, 1998.

He worked as a welder for the Western Machine and Die Co., St. Louis. He was a lifetime member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.

Survivors include: two daughters, Florence Lawson,  Jefferson City, and Janette Germann, Ferguson; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and eight stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Jane Carol Parker, and a granddaughter.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hutchens Mortuary, Florissant. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of  Jefferson City and Mid-Missouri.

SHIRK

Evan N. Shirk, 27, Barnett, died May 27, 2000, as a result of injuries sustained in a traffic accident near Barnett.

He was born Dec. 8, 1972, in California, Mo., a son of Reuben and Lydia Nolt Shirk. His parents survive in Barnett. He was married to Mary K. Martin, who survives at the home.

He was a mechanic at P & W Garage in High Point and was a member of Pleasant Hill Mennonite Church near Latham.

Other survivors include: one son, Jeffery Dale Shirk, of the home; one daughter, Amanda Joy Shirk, of the home; four brothers, Melvin Shirk, Latham, and Clyde Shirk, Curvin Shirk and Galen Shirk, all of Barnett; three sisters, Earlene Zimmerman and Anita Shirk, both of Barnett, and Marion Martin, Fortuna; and his grandparents, John Z. Nolt, New Holland, Pa., and Elias and Nancy Shirk, Elkton, Ky.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Hill Mennonite Church. Abner Oberholtzer, Ervin Weaver, Amos Zimmerman and Raymond Shirk will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. today at the family home.

Arrangements are under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.
