HACKMANN

Arthur Henry Hackmann Jr., 75, Ashland, died July 3, 2000, at his home.

He was born Oct. 30, 1924, in  Jefferson City, a son of Arthur H. Sr. and Nora L. Ackman Hackmann. He was married March 20, 1949, in Columbia, to Violet Pauley, who survives at the home.

He worked as a member service adviser at Boone Electric for 37 years. He was a member of the Peace United Church of Christ, Hartsburg, the American Legion Post 424, Hartsburg, and the VFW, Columbia.

Other survivors include: one son, Bruce Hackmann, Ashland; three daughters, Cindy Glascock, Hartsburg, and Linda Winfrey and Terri Craig, both of Ashland; one brother, Norlan Hackman; and nine grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Robinson Funeral Home, Ashland. The Rev. Bryan Crousore will officiate. Burial will be in Friedens Cemetery, Hartsburg.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to Peace United Church of Christ, Hartsburg.

SHEPP

Hazel Irene Shepp, 92, Versailles, died July 3, 2000, at Good Shepherd Care Center, Versailles.

She was born May 6, 1908, in Morgan County, a daughter of Charles W. and Nellie Thixton Wright. She was married Nov. 15, 1924, to Hiram E. Shepp, who died Sept. 2, 1981.

She was a homemaker. She worked at Tweedies, Versailles, during the war and then worked in the Morgan County R-2 lunch room. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Versailles, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir. She was a member of the W.S.C.S.

Survivors include: one son, Hiram W. Shepp, Versailles; three daughters, Nell Draffen, Versailles, Janet Chase, Liberty, and Sally Jones, Lenexa, Kan.; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Gary DeWitt will officiate. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-noon Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to the Versailles United Methodist Church.

SHINDELDECKER

Russell L. Shindeldecker, 58,  Jefferson City, died July 3, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Oct. 30, 1941, in Lucas, Ohio, a son of Percy and Grace Young Shindeldecker. He was married Aug. 11, 1978, in Leavenworth, Kan., to Kristina Rose Morgenstern, who survives at the home.

He was employed as a sales representative with Rainbow Rexair of Columbia and  Jefferson City. He also was a member of various humane societies.

Other survivors include: three sisters, Iona Musick and Lolly Broadhead, both of Mansfield, Ohio, and Linda Schumaker, Lexington, Ohio; and three brothers, Orville Shindeldecker, Shelby, Ohio, and Clifford S. Shindeldecker and Jerry S. Shindeldecker, both of Mansfield.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.

ADAMS

Harold George "Sparky" Adams, 86,  Jefferson City, died July 4, 2000, in Eldon.

He was born Jan. 15, 1913, in  Jefferson City, a son of Logue A. and Rose J. Cooke Adams. He was married Jan. 23, 1954, in  Jefferson City, to Louise Frances Volkmer, who died Nov. 16, 1993.

He was a graduate of  Jefferson City High School and  Jefferson City Junior College. An Army veteran of World War II, he was employed at the Missouri Highway and Transportation Department.

He was a member of First Christian Church and served on Capital Projects Inc. Board of Directors.

Survivors include: two stepdaughters, Lois J. Silva, Granite Shoals, Texas , and Mary L. Massie, Austin, Texas ; two brothers, Robert Adams, Eldon, and Richard Adams, Hubbard, Ore.; six step grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Mindy Kiepe will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to the Sheltered Workshop or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Buescher Memorial Home.

JENKINS

Helen Faye Jenkins, 55, New Bloomfield, died July 5, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

Arrangements are incomplete at Debo Funeral Home, Holts Summit.

SCHOONOVER

Walter Lee Schoonover, 74, Eldon, died July 4, 2000, at his home.

Arrangements are incomplete at Rekus Funeral Home, Eldon.

SUMMERS

Bertha Mae Summers, 58, Holts Summit, died July 4, 2000, at her home.

Arrangements are incomplete at Debo Funeral Home, Holts Summit.

GARDNER

Grover A. "Bud" Gardner, 68,  Jefferson City, died July 6, 2000, at his home.

Arrangements are incomplete at Houser-Millard Funeral Home.

KIRAL

George F. Kiral, 91,  Jefferson City, died July 6, 2000, at the Missouri Veterans Home, Mexico.

Arrangements are incomplete at Freeman Mortuary.

LIENEKE

Herbert John Lieneke, 72, Holts Summit, died July 5, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Jan. 26, 1928, in Chamois, a son of Edwin O. and Alice Alvina Boss Lieneke. He was married Feb. 7, 1959, in Linn, to Tharsilla Ann "Pat" Deeken, who survives at the home.

He was a 1946 graduate of Chamois High School and worked for the Missouri-Pacific Railroad for two years. He was employed as a fingerprint technician at the Missouri State Highway Patrol General Headquarters for 37 years until his retirement in 1989.

An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and American Legion Post 5.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Lori A. Kirchner, Russellville, and Julie L. Lieneke, Holts Summit; one sister, Margaret N. Sachse,  Jefferson City; one brother, Marvin A. Lieneke, Chamois; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter Catholic Church. The Rev. Donald W. Lammers will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to St. Peter Catholic School or St. Andrew Church Building Fund.

STEPHENS

John Willard "Poker" Stephens, 93, Eldon, died July 4, 2000, in  Jefferson City.

He was born May 15, 1907, in Hoecker, a son of John S. "Darb" and Mabel Luvicy Worden Stephens. He was married April 9, 1927, to Ruth Adeline Garrett, who died Feb. 23, 1992.

He was a lineman and worked for Stone and Webster Company during the construction of the Bagnell Dam. He worked for Union Electric for 30 years.

Survivors include: five sons, Billy W. Stephens, Edgerton, Kan., James D. "Jimmy" Stephens and Neal A. Stephens, both of Stover, Leo D. Stephens, Lake Ozark, and Carl D. Stephens, Kearney; three daughters, Eileen Bradford, Hermitage, and Margaret Cantwell and Laura Barker, both of Eldon; one brother, Howard Caroll Stephens, Meridian, Texas ; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.

One daughter, Judy Ruth Baughman, and one granddaughter preceded him in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. Burial will be in Dooley Cemetery, Eldon.

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

STRATMAN

Charles Joseph Stratman, 62, Freeburg, died July 5, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 9, 1938, in Vienna, a son of John F. and Bertha Bauer Stratman.

He was employed by Quaker Windows, Freeburg, until his retirement.

Survivors include: three brothers, Herbert Stratman and Harold Stratman, both of Freeburg, and Jim Stratman, Vienna; and three sisters, Viola Chambers, Vienna, Mary McKinnon, Dixon, and Irene Kampeter, Florissant.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Church, Freeburg. The Rev. Michael Murphy will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Family Parish Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Kordes Funeral Home, Vienna, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m.

HODGE

Tommy Hodge, 57, Olean, died July 6, 2000, at his home.

He was born Oct. 7, 1942, in Eugene, a son of Ben and Carrie Hinds Hodge. He was married Oct. 6, 1989, in Miami, Okla., to Betty Smith, who survives at the home.

He owned and operated Tom's Pest Control, Olean. He was a member of Gateway Church, near Eldon, and the American Quarter Horse Association. He placed eighth in the World Pole Bending Competition,  Oklahoma City, in the early 1980s.

Other survivors include: four daughters, Tammy Renee Collins, Harris, Minn., Tonya Wood, Eldon, Michelle Vaughan, Olean, and Rachel Hodge, California; one son, Richie Vaughan, Olean; one brother, the Rev. Truman Hodge, Barnett; seven sisters, Ruby Koons, Blue Springs, Myrtle Eth, Warsaw, Mary Lankford and Ruth Lathrom, both of Independence, and Katherine NovoGradac, Gloria Jeter and Linda Vaughan, all of Eldon; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Rekus Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Marvin Witt will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Garden Cemetery, near Eugene.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday at Rekus Funeral Home.

McKINSTRY

George Lee McKinstry, 64, Sunrise Beach, died July 5, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 6, 1935, in Pleasanton, Kan., a son of Joseph B. and Esther Glover McKinstry. He was married to Janet McKinstry, who survives at the home.

A banker in the Kansas City area, he retired as vice president of Bank America. He was a member of Osage Community Elks Lodge 2705 in Laurie and Zack Wheat American Legion Post 624 in Sunrise Beach.

Other survivors include: one son, Joseph McKinstry, Grandview; one daughter, Lou Reyburn, Kansas City; three stepdaughters, Kathy Applequist, Overland Park, Kan., Kelly Sander, Smithville, and Christina Johnson, Kansas City; one sister, Floralie Harris, Laurie; and 11 grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Kent Memorial Lutheran Church, Sunrise Beach.

Memorials are suggested to Kent Memorial Lutheran Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie.
