ROLL
Willis L. Roll, 74, Centertown, died Dec. 7, 2000, in Centertown.
He was born Sept. 20, 1926, in Camden County, a son of William H. and Martha Burns Roll. He was married Nov. 7, 1964, in Nowata, Okla., to LaRue Higgins Johnson, who survives at the home.
He was a bricklayer. He retired from the Callaway Nuclear Power Plant in 1988.
He served in the U.S. Navy for 13 years, including World War II and the Korean War.
He was past master of the California Masonic Lodge No. 183 AF & AM; past high priest of the California Chapter No. 58, R.A.M.; and member of the Ezra Council No. 32, president, Cryptic Masons; Prince of Peace Commandery No. 29, Knights Templar, Jefferson City; V.F.W. Post No. 35, Jefferson City; American Legion Post 531, Centertown; and Moniteau County Sportmans Club, California.
He was the long-time caretaker of the Centertown Cemetery.
Other survivors include: three sons, Gordon Roll, Palm Harbor, Fla., Arnold Johnson, Centertown, and Woody Taggart, Houston, Tex.; two daughters, Lora "Cissy" Crocker, Jefferson City, and Rhonda Bartlett, Chandler, Texas ; one brother, Paul Delozier, Jefferson City; two sisters, Ada Croy and Lora Wilson, both of Centertown; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Roger Taggart.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, with the Rev. David Scudder officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in the Centertown Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today, with a Rainbow Service at 7 p.m. and a Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Cancer Center at Capital Region Medical Center, to the attention of Dr. Joseph Doggett; 1432 Southwest Blvd.; Jefferson City, MO 65101.
SPACKMAN
Maxine C. Spackman, 77, Jefferson City, died Dec. 5, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born Dec. 16, 1922, at Churchbridge, Saskatchewan, Canada, a daughter of David and Veronica McKeckran Johnston.
She was married April 3, 1946, at Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, to Vernon Spackman, who preceded her in death.
She attended school in Churchbridge.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the St. Joseph Cathedral.
Survivors include: One sister, Mabel Adams, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Private family services will be held. Burial will be in the Fort Leonard Wood Post Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Buescher Memorial Home.
CONRATH
Thomas Carl Conrath, 74, Branch, died Dec. 7, 2000, at his home.
He was born March 24, 1926, in Chicago, a son of Theodore Roy and Margaret Carl Conrath.
He was married March 26, 1950, to Odatha Faye Elliott, who died July 20, 1997.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Macks Creek.
He owned his own Mason company.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: One daughter, Laurie Elliott Varnau, Stephens, Va.; one brother, Barth Conrath, Fairfax, Va.; one sister, Bea Berle, Corolla, N.C.; and two grandsons.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church, Macks Creek, with the Rev. Dinzel Webb officiating. Burial will be in the Parrack Grove Cemetery, Macks Creek.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hedges Funeral Home, Macks Creek.
HANSBROUGH
Services were Saturday for Gladys Hansbrough, 83, Osage Beach, who died Dec. 8, 2000, at Lake Regional Hospital.
She was born Oct. 1, 1917, in Beech Grove, Ark., a daughter of Adolph and Clara Lovelady Lee.
She was married Sept. 24, 1954, to James E. Hansbrough, who died Oct. 11, 1979.
She owned and operated a restaurant.
Survivors include one son, James Hansbrough, South Haven, Miss.
She was buried in Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Osage Beach.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach.
LESNEY
Alice Magdaline Lesney, 63, Tipton, died Dec. 7, 2000.
She was born July 16, 1937, at Fowler, Colo., a daughter of Richard and Marie Webster Dameron.
She was married to Jim Lesney, who died in 1991. She moved to Tipton about 2 1/2 years ago from the state of California. She was a member of the Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include: one son, Dallas Boek, state of California; two brothers, Dallas Dameron, Altho, Idaho, and Harley Kinnamon, state of California; three sisters, Margie Marshall, Tipton, Connie Koog, Vandera, Texas , and Wilma Martin, Del Rio, Texas ; and one granddaughter.
She also was preceded in death by one son, Clayton Boek.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton, with the Rev. Dusty Klein officiating.
Her body was cremated.
Visitation will be prior to the service on Wednesday.
NICHOLS
Bobby Richard Nichols, 72, Ashland, died Dec. 8, 2000, at the Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital, Columbia.
He was born Feb. 4, 1928, in Columbia, a son of Wilburn and Elma Cecil Rippeto Nichols. He was married Aug. 16, 1949, to Mable Irene Mustain. He later was married on April 15, 1958, to Bessie Lorene Coleman, who preceded him in death. He was married April 17, 1995, in Barbados, to Evelyn Vovolka, who survives at the home.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was a maintenance worker for the Southern Boone County R-1 School District, Ashland.
Other survivors include: One son, Ronnie Nichols, Ashland; one daughter, Marsha Sanford, Olathe, Kan.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Robinson Funeral Home, Ashland, with the Rev. Bart Tichenor officiating. Burial will be in the Goshen Cemetery, Hartsburg.
Memorials are suggested to the Goshen Cemetery, Hartsburg.
RUGGERI
Arlette Ruggeri, 95, Boynton Beach, Fla. and a former Camdenton resident, died Dec. 7, 2000, in Darcy Hall Health Center, West Palm Beach, Fla.
She was born June 11, 1905, in Hardin, Ill., a daughter of Charles P. and Mottaz Sagez. She was married Dec. 21, 1926, in Fenton, to Charles Ruggeri, who preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include: Two daughters, Rosemarie Signorelli, West Palm Beach, Fla., and Carolyn Manzer, Royal Palm Beach, Fla.; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Dale Blair Cemetery, Camdenton.
Visitation will be from 10-10:30 a.m. at the Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton.
SCHREEN
Carl R. Schreen, 96, New Bloomfield, died Dec. 8, 2000, at the Moniteau Care Center, California.
He was born Dec. 26, 1903, at Dixie, a son of Frederick C. and Agnes Sparks Schreen. He was married April 26, 1929, at Fulton, to Edna Cave, who survives.
He was a 1924 graduate of New Bloomfield High School.
He was an accountant with the Missouri Division of Employment Security until he retired in 1969.
He was a member of the Dixie Christian Church.
Survivors include: two daughters, Carole Schroeder, California, and Mary Cole, Jacksonville, Ill.; one brother, Herbert Schreen, Ft. Wayne, Ind.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, at the Freeman Mortuary Chapel.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-noon Saturday.
