BARNHART

Daniel "Barney" Barnhart, 50, Dixon, died May 7, 2001, at Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital, Columbia.

He was born April 9, 1951, in  Jefferson City, a son of Harold and Cathryn Reavis Barnhart. He was married Aug. 28, 1999, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to Wogene Meshesha, who survives at the home.

He was a 1971 graduate of Vienna High School and studied auto mechanics for two years. An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he received two Purple Hearts. He was a member of House of Prayer Church, Richland, and the National Rifle Association.

He also is survived by one brother, Dean Barnhart, Fairgrove.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at House of Prayer Church. The Rev. David Duncan will officiate. Graveside services, with military honors, will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield.

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia.

Memorials are suggested to House of Prayer Church.

CAGLE

Josephine Elizabeth Cagle, 60,  Jefferson City, died May 9, 2001, at her home.

She was born May 3, 1941, in Artesia, N.M., a daughter of Joseph B. and Annabelle Parker Fine. She was married Jan. 22, 1970, in LaMesa, Texas , to Raymond Lee Cagle Sr., who died Feb. 3, 1986.

She worked as a bookkeeper at Walgreen Drug Store for the past nine years. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include: three daughters, Deborah Raines, state of California, Pam Reeves,  Jefferson City, and Debbie Zarate, Irving, Texas ; one son, Raymond Lee Cagle Jr., LeMoore, Calif.; one sister, LaVada Reed, Larned, Kan.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. Entombment will be in Riverview Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

GREGG

Jennie L. Gregg, 63, Camdenton, died May 8, 2001, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach.

She was born Dec. 13, 1937, in Orrick, a daughter of Boyd and Niva Fletcher Pigg. She was married May 27, 1957, in Orrick, to Joseph Gregg, who survives at the home.

She was a loan officer for National Bank for 23 years. She was a member of Community Christian Church and Eastern Star 332 in Camdenton.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Jan Burt, Camdenton; one brother, Marvin Pigg, Excelsior Springs; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Community Christian Church. The Rev. Tracy Carroll will officiate. Burial will be in Laughlin Cemetery, Camdenton.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton, with an Eastern Star service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Lake Area Hospice, or to the Arthritis Foundation.

HEALEY

Susan M. Healey, 68, Panama City, Fla., formerly of  Jefferson City, died April 27, 2001, at her home.

She was born July 20, 1932, in  Jefferson City, a daughter of Dr. J.R. and Katherine McDonald. She was married to Dan Healey, who survives at the home.

A resident of  Jefferson City until 1976, she lived in several different states, retiring to the state of Florida in 1995.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Stephanie Rose,  Jefferson City; five sons, Daniel P. Healey, Kevin M. Healey and Dennis A. Healey, all of Panama City, Michael T. Healey, Murrells Inlet, S.C., and Thomas J. Healey, Columbia, S.C.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at St. Dominic's Catholic Church, Panama City. The remains were cremated. Inurnment will be in the Catholic cemetery in Panama City.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are under the direction of Yorkshire Crematory and Casket Mortuary, Panama City.

REEVES

James David Reeves, 82, Grass Valley, Calif., died April 29, 2001, at his home.

He was born Aug. 11, 1918, in Fulton, a son of David R. and Ruth Davis Reeves. He was married to Aileen Lucille "Peggy" Brooks. He was married in 1982 to Carole O'Rear, who survivors at the home.

He attended Fulton Public Schools and was a member of the Court Street United Methodist Church. He was a World War II veteran of the Merchant Marines.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Sandra Vandeberg, Westminster, Colo.; two sons, Michael Reeves, Denver, and Patrick Reeves, Indianapolis; three sisters, Frances Schultze, Betty Hood and Billie Willet, all of Fulton; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

One grandson preceded him in death.

Entombment will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Callaway Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Bruce Williamson will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to Kingdom Hospice, 2 St. Louis Avenue, Fulton, Mo. 65251.

Arrangements are under the direction of Debo Funeral Home, Fulton.

SMYER

Marie Smyer, 72,  Jefferson City, died May 9, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born Jan. 26, 1929, in Ben Davis, a daughter of Zealous H. and Cleda Gaither Collins. She was married Feb. 12, 1947, in Fairview, to Carl R. Smyer, who died Aug. 15, 1976.

She attended Houston High School, Houston, Mo. A resident of the  Jefferson City area since 1967, she was employed in the title division of the Missouri Department of Revenue for 15 years until her retirement in 1993.

She was a member of Concord Baptist Church.

Survivors include: one son, Paul L. Smyer,  Jefferson City; one daughter, Connie M. Burris, Columbia; six brothers, Norman Collins, state of Tennessee, Zealous Collins Jr. and Robert Collins, both of Polo, Ill., Carl Collins, Cabool, Clyde Collins, Mountain Grove, and Larry Collins, Houston, Mo.; four sisters, Mary Stottlemyre, Houston, Mo., Lucille Yarnell, Eudora, Kan., Louise Walker, Mountain Grove, and Cleta Vaughn, Licking; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Evans Funeral Home, Houston, Mo. The Rev. Don E. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Bado Cemetery, Bado.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Freeman Mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of  Jefferson City and Mid-Missouri.

GARNETT

Luther O. Garnett, 77, California, died May 9, 2001, at California Care Center.

He was born Nov. 7, 1923, in Leonard, a son of David L. and Mary Viola Mosley Garnett. He was married April 8, 1944, to Dorothy Gander, who survives at the home.

He was an Army veteran of World War II. He attended Molar Barber College in Kansas City. He worked as a barber in King City for four years, then bought the barber in shop in California in 1953. After 50 years of barbering, he sold the shop, but continued to work part time.

He was a member of First Christian Church, where he was Sunday school superintendent, elder and deacon. He was a member of California Country Club.

Other survivors include: one son, David Garnett, California; three daughters, Marilyn Sparks, Southlake, Texas , and Carolyn Miller and Beverly Rex, both of California; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

One infant daughter preceded him in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Weber and Sons Funeral Home, California. The Rev. David Nicholson will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in California City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church or a charity of the donor's choice.

JOHNSON

Benjamin Oscar Johnson, 74,  Jefferson City, died May 10, 2001, at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia.

He was born Feb. 1, 1927, in Aitkin, Minn., a son of Oscar and Anne Williams Johnson. He was married March 25, 1950, in Hillsdale, Wis., to Deloris M. Huset, who died Dec. 22, 2000.

A graduate of Brainerd High School, Brainerd, Minn., he earned a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1950.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He worked for Northern States Power, retiring in 1989 as general superintendent. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club in Fargo, N.D., where he served as president.

Survivors include: three sons, Robert Johnson, San Diego, Steven Johnson, Grand Forks, N.D., and Gary Johnson,  Jefferson City; two daughters, Karen Johnson and Kristin Byers, both of Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, Kenneth Johnson, Duluth, Minn.; and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. John Hobratschk will officiate. Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Saturday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

NEWSOM

Artist Newsom, 70, Versailles, died May 9, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Dec. 27, 1930, in Chester, Ky., a son of Andy and Sally Coleman Newsom.

An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a retired truck driver.

Survivors include: three sisters, Ruby Dewey, Apple Valley, Calif., Mary Hart, Newcomb, Tenn., and Ruth Forsythe, Versailles.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Danny Owsley will officiate. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.
