SCHNEIDER
Lucille Jackson Schneider, 83, Jefferson City, died Aug. 1, 2001, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.
She was born March 27, 1918, in Neosho, a daughter of Dr. A.B. and Ruth King Jackson. She was married July 11, 1937, in Jefferson City, to Horace Lee Schneider, who died Sept. 8, 1993.
A graduate of Jefferson City High School, she worked for the Missouri Public Service Commission until her retirement in 1979. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon. She was active in volunteer and charity organizations, including work at a local hospital.
Survivors include: four daughters, Ruth Ann Case, Lee's Summit, Linda L. Grazier, Jefferson City, Sally S. Gillmore, Rocky Mount, and Dorothy S. Conn, Atlantic Highlands, N.J.; one son, Dr. Horace Lee Schneider Jr., Cape Girardeau; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Rudolph W. Beard will officiate. Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church, 324 Madison St., Jefferson City, Mo. 65101.

STULCE
Lee Eugene Stulce Sr., 63, Jefferson City, died Aug. 1, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born July 30, 1938, in Ruger, a son of Emery L. Sr. and Lovie Reynolds Stulce. He was married Oct. 12, 1960, in Old Mexico, to Helen Conger, who survives at the home.
A lifelong resident of Central Missouri, he was a graduate of Salem High School and received a master's degree in business administration in food service from Jefferson College, Hillsboro. He was employed at the Missouri Department of Corrections until his retirement in 1994 as head of food service.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, a life member of VFW Post 1699, Cahokia, Ill., and a 20-year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 3015, Rolla.
Other survivors include: two sons, Lee Eugene Stulce Jr. and James Dean Stulce, both of Jefferson City; two daughters, Lovie Leeann Vineyard, Hartsburg, Ill., and Frances Kay Minor, Henley; one sister, Clydemae Darlene Reinkemeyer, Rolla; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Freeman Mortuary. The Rev. Ted Huston will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Jefferson City and Mid-Missouri.
WALTERS
Loraine Walters, 86, Crocker, died July 30, 2001, in Oddfellows and Rebkah Nursing Center, Ennis, Texas .
She was born April 17, 1915, in Norphlet, Ark., a daughter of Samuel and Laconia Easton Lawton. She was married in 1935, in Little Rock, Ark., to Louis "Speedy" Walters, who died Oct. 18, 1998.
A homemaker, she was a member of First Baptist Church, Crocker.
Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Dalrymple, Ennis.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Jane Walters; three sons, Robert Walters, William Walters and W.R. "Bobbie" Walters; and one grandson.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Crocker Cemetery. Billy Claiborne will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Long Funeral Home, Crocker.
Memorials are suggested to Missouri Baptist Children's Home.
SON
Basil E. Son, 86, Jefferson City, died Aug. 1, 2001, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.
He was born July 24, 1915, in Enon, a son of Enoch "Vest" and Barcie E. Enloe Son. He was married Sept. 14, 1935, in Jefferson City, to Marie A. Kliegel, who survives at the home.
He attended Jefferson City High School.
He was employed with Central Dairy and Alexander's Dairy, California.
He worked for the Missouri Department of Corrections as a dairy supervisor from 1960 until his retirement in 1980.
Other survivors include: one son, Richard Son, Holts Summit; two daughters, Mary Bonine, Centertown, and Debbie Son, of the home; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
One infant son and one daughter preceded him in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. Edwin A. Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Friday.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
SCHAEFER
Lucy F. Schaefer, 92, Linn, died Aug. 1, 2001, at Green Meadows Health Care Center, Linn.
She was born June 20, 1909, in Osage County, a daughter of Henry and Catherine Mengwasser Mertens. She was married Oct. 20, 1931, in Linn, to John L. Schaefer, who died June 7, 1990.
A lifelong area resident, she attended school in rural Osage County. She was a member of St. George Church, Linn; St. Ann's Sodality; and the Western Catholic Union. A homemaker and a farmer, she worked as a cook and waitress at several local restaurants.
Survivors include: one daughter, Veronica Grellner, Linn; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
One son, Charles Schaefer, and one daughter, Catherine Schaefer, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. George Church. The Rev. Greg Meystrik will officiate. Burial will be in St. George Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Morton Funeral Home, Linn, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
WOOD
Virgil Howard Wood, 73, California, died Aug. 1, 2001, at his home.
He was born Aug. 8, 1927, in Eldon, a son of Lannie and Dessie Strange Wood. He was married June 21, 1948, to Mary Laferrara, who survives at the home.
He worked for John Deere in East Moline, Ill., until his retirement.
Other survivors include: three sons, Lannie Wood, Versailles, Robert Wood, Cleveland, Texas , and L.H. Wood, East Moline; two daughters, Christine Bullock, Gravois Mills, and Nancy Anton, Colona, Ill.; one brother, Louie Wood, Aledo, Ill.; two sisters, Gladys Diffenderfer, O'Fallon, and Icle Pendleton, St. Joseph; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Services will be at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.
WHITE
Services were today for May E. White , 88, Bowling Green, who died Aug. 2, 2001, at Country View Nursing Facility, Bowling Green.
She was born June 12, 1913, in Honeywell, a daughter of Dr. and Mrs. A.T. White .
She was a Methodist.
Graveside services were in Longview Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.
WALTHER
Services were today for Laura Elizabeth Walther, 88, Springfield, formerly of Jefferson City, who died July 31, 2001, at Springfield Residential Center.
She was born Oct. 9, 1912, in Honey Creek, a daughter of Henry and Frieda Hirschman. She was married to Emil Carl Walther, who preceded her in death.
She worked in Jefferson City before moving to Springfield, where she lived for more than 40 years. She worked at Springfield Autobody before retiring and was an award-winning Avon salesperson for 14 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Springfield.
Survivors include: one daughter, Mary Lou Prothe, Lexington, Ky.; one sister, Ema Linsenbardt, Jefferson City; two brothers, Harry Hirschman, Springfield, and Paul Hirschman, Nevada; and three grandchildren.
Services were at Trinity Lutheran Church, Springfield. The Rev. Martin Conkling officiated. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery, Jefferson City.

SPARKS
Vernon Claire Sparks, 82, Auxvasse, died Aug. 1, 2001, at his home.
He was born June 30, 1919, in Fulton, a son of James and Lettie Sparks. He was married Sept. 6, 1952, to Marilyn Crowson, who died Oct. 29, 1999.
He was a farmer and worked at Chem-Grow until his retirement.
Survivors include: one son, Vernon Kent Sparks, Greenville, S.C.; two daughters, Sherry Winston, Stamford, Conn., and Merry Jayne Marshall, Jefferson City; one sister, Mildred Maddox, Fulton; one brother, Merlin Sparks, Fulton; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church, Auxvasse. The Rev. Robert Guese will officiate. Burial will be in Auxvasse Cemetery, Auxvasse.
Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to United Methodist Church, Auxvasse.
