PHILLIPS
Walter "Lynn" Phillips, 53, California, died Nov. 25, 200l, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born Aug. 7, l948, in Caruthersville, a son of Walter L. and Doris M. Royer Phillips. His mother survives in the state of Florida. He was married July l, l978, in Huntington, Ind., to Michelle Johnson, who survives at the home.
He graduated from La Porte High School, La Porte, Ind. He was a coil spring machine operator for Winamac Industries and operated a forklift for United Technology, both in Indiana. He was a member of First Christian Church in Atwood, Ind. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include: two sons, Robert Phillips, La Porte, and Michael Phillips, California; one daughter, Stephanie Phillips, Germany; one brother, Jerry Phillips, Burleson, Texas ; three sisters, Denise Thompson, Cleburne, Texas , Virginia Bair, Perkinston, Miss., Diane Jean Phillips, state of Florida.
He was preceded in death by one infant son.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California. The Rev. Roy Sparks will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.
Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Saturday.

SCHELL
Eleanore Agnes Schell, 84, Wardsville, died Nov. 29, 200l, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born Oct. 6, l9l7, in St. Thomas, a daughter of Herman and Christine Kleffner Fennewald. She was married May l7, l938, in St. Thomas, to Bernard J. Schell, who died May l7, l982.
She attended St. Thomas Catholic School.
She co-owned and co-operated the Schell Trading Company, St. Thomas.
She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, St. Ann's Sodality and the ladies quilting circle.
Survivors include: three daughters, Carol Riley, Betty Kampeter, and Kathy Kliegel, all of Jefferson City; one son, Gary Schell, Jefferson City; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Patricia Schell, died in l968.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. The Rev. Donald J. Antweiler will officiate. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, Jefferson City. Visitation also will be from l0-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to St. Thomas Catholic School.
PETROVIC
Vera Mae Petrovic, 75, Fortuna, died, Nov. 30, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born March 1, 1926, in Fortuna, a daughter of Amos J. and Eunice B. Teeple Mummert. She was married June 19, 196l, to Michael Petrovic, who died April 6, 1983.
She owned and operated Overland Cafe in Overland, Pa. She was a member of Fortuna Baptist Church.
Survivors include one brother, James Mummert, Gower, and two sisters, Elsie Mackey, Huntington Bay, N.Y., and Georgia Mummert, Fortuna.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Newkirk Cemetery near Fortuna. The Rev. Dan Rogers will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.
WHITE
Cecil Lorain White , 76, Camdenton, died Dec. 2, 2001, at Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach.
She was born Sept. 27, 1925, in Kansas City, Kan., a daughter of Cecil and Loeta Barrett Thayer. She was married Sept. 24, 1960, to Forrest C. White , who died Oct. 20, 1992.
She lived in Leavenworth, Kan. She moved to Nebraska for several years and later moved to the Lake area in 1983. She was a homemaker and a member of Bible Baptist Church, Camdenton.
Survivors include two sons, Rex White , state of Mississippi, and Rod White , Kansas City, and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bible Baptist Church. Pastor Bob Vander Berg will officiate. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Springfield National Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton.
SCHNEIDER
Lucy Elizabeth Schneider, 92, Freeburg, died Dec. 2, 2001, at Green Meadows Care Center, Linn.
She was born Feb. 14, 1909, in Argyle, a daughter of Casper and Mary Wieberg Reinkemeyer. She was married May 19, 193l, in Argyle, to Frank Bernard Schneider who died Oct. 15, 1965.
She was employed with Ozark Central Telephone Company, St. Louis, in the Freeburg office from 1943 to 1960. She then worked as an operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Jefferson City until her retirement in 1973. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, the Married Ladies Sodality and the Ladies Quilting Club.
Survivors include: two sons, Leroy Schneider, Mesquite, Texas , and Charles Schneider, Lockport, Ill.; three daughters, Ramona Poettgen, Ferguson, Mary Castrop, Linn, and Helen Wankum, Jefferson City; one brother, Ben Reinkemeyer, Argyle; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
One grandson preceded her in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church. The Rev. Mike Murphy will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-l0 a.m. Thursday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna, with a prayer service at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials are suggested to Holy Family Church and School Memorial Fund.
SCHERER
Services were today for Richard George Scherer, 83, Portageville, who died Dec. 2, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center, Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 14, 1918, in Oran, a son of Bernard and Mary H. Eftink Scherer. He was married March 4, 1946, in Portageville, to Viola Klipfel, who survives at the home.
An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of St. Eustachius Catholic Church.
Other survivors include: two sons, Mike Scherer, Jefferson City, and Tony Scherer, Portageville; one daughter, Patricia Scherer, St. Louis; two sisters, Mary Jane Clark, Sikeston, and Vera Scherer, Portageville; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
One granddaughter preceded him in death.
Services were at St. Eustachius Catholic Church. The Rev. Hank Grodecki officiated. Burial was in Portageville Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of DeLisle Funeral Home, Portageville.
RAKES
Lester "Les" Rakes, 84, Camdenton, died Nov. 30, 2001, at his home.
He was born Sept. 24, 1917, in Corydon, Iowa, a son of Manford L. and Candace A. Gibbs Rakes. He was married Oct. 28, 1939, in Cumming, Iowa, to Mildred Pauline "Polly" Hiskey, who survives.
He owned and operated a farm before moving to Camdenton in 1963. He started his own plumbing business and retired in 1980.
Survivors include: two daughters, Carole Lawler, Milo, Iowa, and Joyce Vickroy, Indianola, Iowa; one son, Dwight Rakes, Camdenton; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one step great-grandchild.
No services are planned.

ABEL
Dustin Lee Abel, l6, Jefferson City, died Nov. 28, 200l.

KIRKWOOD
Emilie L. "Mickey" Kirkwood, 81, Jefferson City, died Dec. 2, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born March 14, 1920, in Bem, a daughter of Emil and Clara Kottwitz Pietraschke. She was married Jan. 24, 1962, in Jefferson City, to Vernon L. Kirkwood, who survives at the home.
A homemaker, she worked for the Brown Shoe Factory, Owensville. She was employed as the manager of Campbell Restaurant, Lake of the Ozarks, until 1962.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday school for 15 years at Calvary Methodist Church, Indianapolis.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Carolyn Beck, Jefferson City; two sisters, Edna Niemeyer, Union, and Marie Pauline Schneider, Jefferson City; one brother, Virgil Pietraschke, Owensville; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Angela Graham, died in 1991.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Freeman Mortuary. The Rev. Kyle Hern and the Rev. Janet Hoyland will officiate. Graveside services will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to the youth ministry of First United Methodist Church.
