PETERS
Carter J. Peters Jr., 50, Linn, died Feb. 1, 2002, at his home.
He was born Sept. 12, 1951, in Jefferson City, a son of Carter H. and Louise J. Haslag Peters. He was married Aug. 4, 1973, in Linn, to Mary Pat Fick, who survives at the home.
He graduated from Fatima High School in 1969. He attended Linn Technical School and served in the Missouri National Guard from 1969 to 1975.
He was a member of St. George Church, Linn, the Knights of the Columbus and the Loose Creek Community Club. He owned and operated Peters Turkey Farm.
Other survivors include: four sons, Gregory Peters and Bradley Peters, both of Linn, and Nathan Peters and Eric Peters, both of the home; four brothers, Charles H. Peters, Leon F. Peters, Larry F. Peters and Wayne Peters, all of Loose Creek; six sisters, Ruth M. Verslues, Evelyn V. Backes, Mary Lou Bailey and Kathleen A. Samson, all of Loose Creek, Janet S. Klebba, Taos, and Donna K. Jaegers, Frankenstein; and one grandson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. George Church, Linn. The Rev. Daniel I.J. Lueckenotte and the Rev. Gregory Meystrik will officiate. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery, Loose Creek.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Morton Funeral Home, Linn, with a prayer service at 8 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
WALKENHORST
Eileen K. Walkenhorst, 75, New Haven, died Feb. 2, 2002, at St. John Mercy Medical Center, Creve Coeur.
She was born March 7, 1926, in New Haven, a daughter of Emil and Edna Pelster Brune. She was married Feb. 24, 1946, in Port Hudson, to Harold Walkenhorst, who survives in New Haven.
She was a homemaker and a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Port Hudson.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Carol Seidel, Jefferson City, and Sharon Helling, Mexico; one son, Roland Walkenhorst, New Haven; one brother, Leonard Brune, New Haven; and four grandchildren.
Twin infant sons preceded her in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Port Hudson. The Rev. William Zastrow will officiate. Burial will be in Ebenezer Lutheran Cemetery, Port Hudson.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven.
Memorials are suggested to Ebenezer Lutheran Church.
WYSS
Laura Ann Wyss, 95, California, died Feb. 2, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born March 26, 1906, in Moniteau County, a daughter of Fred and Emma Aeschliman Kocher.
She was married Sept. 29, 1929, in California, to Louis Arthur Wyss, who died in September 1972.
She was a homemaker. She also worked in insurance sales.
Survivors include: one granddaughter, Peggy Meredith Barry, whom Wyss raised from the time she was three weeks old; and two great-grandsons.
Among those who preceded her in death was a daughter, Dr. Betty Louise Meredith.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church, California, with the Rev. Carol Koenig officiating. Burial will be in the California City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at the Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California.

ZURMILLER
Vernon E. Zurmiller, 54, Stover, died Feb. 1, 2002, near Camdenton.
He was born Dec. 2, 1947, in Esbon, Kan., a son of Verlin and Violet Bender Zurmiller. His father and step-mother, Verlin and Linda Zurmiller, survive in Stover. He was married Sept. 17, 1971, in Stover to Lynda Munsterman, who survives at the home.
He was a 1966 graduate of Stover High School, and a graduate of State Fair Community College, Sedalia, with an associate degree in electronics.
He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War, and was a member of the Stover/Versailles VFW Post.
He was the owner/operator of Vern's Electronics. He was an electronics repairman for 22 years, including work at Thomas Furniture, Versailles, until that business was sold and Zurmiller bought the electronics part of the business.
He worked with his father as an over-the-road truck driver, and later at Howard's Ready-Mix, Sedalia.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles' Countryside No. 4286, Lincoln.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Kristi Zurmiller, Versailles; five brothers, Bob Zurmiller, Sikeston, Larry "Butch" Zurmiller and Dennis Zurmiller, both of Stover, Ricky Zurmiller, Gravois Mills, and Kevin Zurmiller, Macks Creek; one sister, Kelly Steele, Sedalia; and four stepsisters, Dee Brenner, Jefferson City, Sheila Brown, Sunrise Beach, Shelly Hicks, Versailles, and Stacy Simpson, Stover.
One son, Timothy V. Zurmiller, died on Nov. 5, 1993.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church, Stover. The Rev. Denzil Webb will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in the Stover Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Monday, and with the family members from 6-8 p.m., at the Scrivener-Morrow Funeral Home, Stover.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or to the charity of the donor's choice.
STONE
Richard W. Stone, 71, New Bloomfield, died Feb. 2, 2002, at the University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.
He was born Sept. 4, 1930, in Jefferson City, a son of Abraham. W. and Mayme V. Hughes Stone. He was married Sept. 21, 1953, in Jefferson City, to Irene M. Fincher, who survives at the home.
He attended Jefferson City Public School. He served in the Air Force from 1948 until his retirement in 1970 as a master sergeant. After his military career, he worked as a sales representative for Goodyear Tire Company in Sedalia and was commandant at Kempker Military School in Boonville for several years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Boonville.
Other survivors include: one son, Richard D. Stone, Crane; three sisters, Mildred Schneider, California, and Doris Murphy and Beverly Irvin, both of Jefferson City; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Freeman Mortuary. The Rev. Wendell Stoneburner will officiate. Graveside services and entombment with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
HUFF
Dora Maud Huff, 83, Versailles, died Feb. 3, 2002, at Good Shepherd Care Center, Versailles.
She was born June 26, 1918, near Versailles, a daughter of George F. and Arletta Musick Huff.
She attended Oak Grove School and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, near Versailles. She worked at Tweedies and also managed a grocery store in Wellston in the 1960s.
Survivors include: two nephews, John. F. Dicks, St. Charles, and Dr. Samuel E. Dicks, Emporia, Kan.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Todd Forman will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday.
NELSON
Enfield A. "Ed" Nelson, 77, Rocky Mount, died Jan. 31, 2002, in Rocky Mount.
He was born March 27, 1924, in Overland, a son of Thomas E. and Lena Evelyn King Nelson. He was married Aug. 18, 1945, in Oakland, Calif., to Shirley Klotzer Nelson, who survives at the home.
He was owner and operator of Unfinished Furniture. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Rocky Mount Amvets and National Amvets.
Survivors include: one son, Thomas R. Nelson, Indiatlantic, Fla.; one daughter, Shellie Blochberger, Russellville; one sister, Margaret Schumacher, Eldon; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Honey Creek. The Rev. Russ Bowder will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:30-10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.
SCHULTZ
Lelah R. Schultz, 87, Jefferson City, died Feb. 2, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born Sept. 24, 1913, in Des Moines, Iowa, a daughter of George and Iva Murphy Baird. She was married Jan. 1, 1942, to Russell M. Schultz, who died Feb. 19, 1990.
A resident of the Jefferson City area since 1983, she attended Kahoka High School, Kahoka.
She was a homemaker. She also owned and operated Schultz Dry Cleaners, Kerville, Texas , and owned a farm in Mountain Grove. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include: three sisters, Mary Schultz and Lily Garrett, both of St. Louis, and Georgie Mohr, Farmington, Iowa; one brother, Richard Baird, Moline, Ill.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Three sons preceded her in death: Lewis R. Schultz died Jan. 10, 1991; Robert Bash died in 1998; and Richard Bash died July 21, 2000.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Hooppole Cemetery, Hooppole, Ill.
Memorials are suggested to Jefferson City Residential Care Center.
