HAINEN

Bernard Anthony Hainen, 81, Tipton, died April 8, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 28, 1921, in Tipton, a son of Joseph and Helena Trecker Hainen. He was married Sept. 30, 1941, in Clear Creek, to Mary Ellen Schibi, who died March 4, 1995.

A lifelong resident of the Tipton area, he graduated from Tipton High School in 1939. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He founded and operated the Hainen Buick Company for 48 years. He was also a local rancher. He was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Tipton. He was a member of the Tipton American Legion Post 304 and the Tipton Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include: two sons, Bernard Andrew Hainen and John Gregory Hainen, both of Tipton; two daughters, Joyce Hainen Crandon, California, and Donna Hainen Meiners, Lee's Summit; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church. The Rev. Henry Reichert will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. A Knights of Columbus service will follow.

Memorials are suggested to Knights of Columbus, St. Andrew's Altar Society, or Benedictine Convent, 3710 W. Broadway, Columbia, Mo. 65203.

FRAVEL

Joint inurnment services will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Boydsville Cemetery near Guthrie for James Hubert Fravel and Henrietta Smith Fravel, formerly of Holts Summit.

James Hubert Fravel died Oct. 11, 1991.

Henrietta Smith Fravel died Nov. 30, 2001.

Survivors include: one daughter, Sharon S. Doench, Evansville, Ind.; six grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

One son, Barry Lynn Fravel, died in 1999. One granddaughter preceded Mrs. Fravel in death.

Arrangements are under the direction of Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton.

CHELLIS

Stephen W. Chellis, 70, Lohman, died April 8, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 13, 1931, in Baltimore, Md., a son of William and Gladys Wright Chellis. He was married Oct. 15, 1976, in  Jefferson City, to Murial "Mimi" Dion, who survives at the home.

A 1950 graduate of Westerly High School, he served in the Navy from 1951-1955 and the Army National Guard from 1955-1958.

He owned and operated Chellis Machine and Tool Shop in Russellville for 18 years.

Most recently, he was employed with Tana Wire Manufacturing in California.

He was a member of the Peace Dale Volunteer Fire Department in Rhode Island; the Destroyer Escort Sailors Association; the Society of Manufacturing Engineers; and St. John's Lutheran Church in Stringtown.

He served on the Russellville Engine Show committee for several years as chairman of the Old Time Fiddler's Contest.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Evelyn Chellis, state of Rhode Island, Billie Jo Kloetzke, Kings Bay, Ga., and Dixie McDermott, Land O' Lakes, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

One grandson preceded him in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church. The Rev. Warren Brandt will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Russellville.

Memorials are suggested to St. John's Lutheran Church, Stringtown.

CALVERT

Patrick Leo Calvert, 65, Gravois Mills, died April 8, 2002, at his home.

He was born Dec. 7, 1936, in Gatewood, a son of Amos E. and Cora Ethel Cunningham Calvert. He was married Feb. 21, 1963, in Reno, Kan., to Ella Mae Vanderslice, who survives at the home.

He was a heavy equipment operator and a transport driver. He was a member of the West Union Baptist Church near Versailles and attended the Locust Baptist Church near Versailles. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Gardith Fike, Osage Beach, Mary Calvert, Versailles, and Patricia Carter, Gravois Mills; one sister, Doreen Brown, Doniphan; and two granddaughters.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Dallas Moritz will officiate. Burial will be in Locust Cemetery near Versailles.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans or the American Heart Association.

WHITE

Delma Katherine Hutchison White , 95, Chamois, died March 27, 2002, at Green Meadows Health Care Center, Linn.

She was born Dec. 21, 1906, in Boonville, a daughter of Perry L. and Kathryn Stevens Hutchison. She was married in 1926 to Chester M. White , who died in 1991.

She was a graduate of Chamois High School.

During World War II, she worked as a secretary at Scullen Steel Company and the Mid-Western Region director of the American Red Cross.

She was a member of Webster Groves Christian Church and Chamois United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the P.E.O. organization.

Survivors include one son, C. David White , Chamois; and one grandson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chamois United Methodist Church The Rev. Deborah Pope will officiate. Burial will be in Chamois City Cemetery.

Visitation will be at a luncheon at the church immediately following the burial.

Memorials are suggested to Chamois United Methodist Church, or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer-Hilke-Millard Funeral Home, Chamois.

VOGEL

Frederic Joseph Vogel, 92,  Jefferson City, died April 10, 2002, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.

He was born Sept. 10, 1909, in Tipton, a son of Frederick W. and Clara M. Sailer Vogel. He was married Aug. 29, 1934, in  Jefferson City, to Blandina Lueckenhoff, who died Aug. 22, 1999.

He was a 1925 graduate of St. Peters High School. He worked for United Mutual Insurance Company from 1929-1947. In 1947, he organized the Fred Vogel Insurance Agency, where he retired in 1978.

He was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral, where he was active in the Legion of Mary. He was district deputy of the Knights of Columbus for many years and was a member of the Fourth Degree team of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Equestrian Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre and held the office of section representative for many years. He was the first state chairman organizing the Columbian Squires in Missouri, the junior order of the Knights of Columbus.

He was on the board of regents at St. Marys Health Center and served on the committee when the new addition was added to St. Marys Health Center.

He was on the  Jefferson City Library Board when the new library was built. He was a member of the charter commission when the Charter was drafted for  Jefferson City.

He was also a member of the  Jefferson City Planning and Zoning Commission for many years. He was co-founder of  Jefferson City Investment Club and was a charter member of Meadow Lake Acres Country Club.

Survivors include: six daughters, Mary Ann Hyleck, Dorlene Prather, Susan Lansford and Sally Schnieders, all of  Jefferson City, Jane Long, Lee's Summit, and Carole Leslie, Thibodaux, La.; one brother, Jerome W. Vogel, Webster Groves; three sisters, Mildred Oviatt,  Jefferson City, Sr. M. Claranne Vogel, Notre Dame Convent, St. Louis, and Velma Leary,  Jefferson City; 18 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at St. Joseph Cathedral. The Most Rev. Michael McAuliffe and the Rev. Fred Elskamp will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Helias High School, the Carmelite Monastery, the Joseph Hemmel Memorial Scholarship Fund, or St. Joseph Home for the Aged.

HOLMES

Services were Tuesday for Ida Mae Holmes, 83, Ashland, who died April 6, 2002, at Ashland Health Care Center.

She was born Aug. 29, 1918, in Waggoner, Okla., a daughter of Joseph and Lottie May Lewis Bagby. She was married to Thurston Holmes, who died May 20, 1969.

She was a retired LPN, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary 0059 in Dexter, and the Order of Eastern Star 309 in Ashland.

Survivors include: one son, Jimmy Holmes, Sikeston; one daughter, Sharon Easter, Hartsburg; one grandson; four step grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren.

Services were at the Senath McDaniel Funeral Service in Senath. The Rev. Dale Rickman officiated. Burial was in Senath Cemetery.

JAEGERS

Francis M. "Jake" Jaegers, 61, Loose Creek, died April 10, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born July 30, 1940, in Osage County, a son of Matt and Elizabeth Haslag Jaegers. He was married Nov. 24, 1962, in Chamois, to Rose M. Ferguson, who survives at the home.

He worked for Missouri Department of Social Services and had worked at Pepsi-Cola and Triple K. Foundations. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Loose Creek and a member of FOE Aerie 2693.

Other survivors include: three sons, Steve D. Jaegers, Loose Creek, David W. Jaegers, Ottumwa, Iowa, and Rodney F. Jaegers, Linn; one brother, Jerome Jaegers, Loose Creek; five sisters, Mary Louise Jaegers, Pilot Knob, Anne Marie Frank and Connie Frank, both of Linn, Agnes Frank, Loose Creek, and Theresa Higgins, Centertown; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church in Loose Creek. The Rev. Greg Meystrik will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Morton Funeral Home, Linn, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Conception Church, Loose Creek.
