ASH

Georgetta Ash, 62, Camdenton, died July 4, 2002, at Kindred Health Care, Kansas City.

She was born June 30, 1940, near Climax Springs, a daughter of John W. and Eunice L. Wry Cline.

She was born and raised in the Climax Springs area and graduated from high school. She was a homemaker and worked as a home health caregiver for several years. She has lived in Camdenton for 12 years where she was a member of Montgomery Baptist Church.

Survivors include: two daughters, Janet Barnes and Dana Hoyt, both of Camdenton; one son, Russell Ash, Warsaw; three stepchildren; one brother, J.M. Cline, Bonner Springs, Kan.; three sisters, Joan Hamilton, Kansas City, and Hariet Cline and Patty Searcy, both of Sunrise Beach; and four grandchildren.

One stepson preceded her in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Montgomery Baptist Church, Greenview. The Rev. Jack Kirkham will officiate. Burial will be in the Mose Clark Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. today at Allee-Holman-Howe funeral home in Camdenton.

MAGRUDER

Elizabeth J. Magruder, 79, Columbia, died July 3, 2002, at Ashland Healthcare, Ashland.

She was born April 14, 1923, in University City, a daughter of James H. and Susan Perry Robinson. She was married Sept. 5, 1953, in Moberly, to Charles Magruder, who survives in Columbia.

She was a sales clerk at Westlakes until her retirement. She attended Baptist Church, Columbia.

Other survivors include one daughter, Marsha Wilson, Kansas City.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Robinson Funeral Home, Ashland. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Columbia.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Monday.

Memorials are suggested to the Mid America Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.

THUM

Arville F. Thum, 83, Iberia, died July 5, 2002, at the Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach.

He was born Sept. 16, 1918, in Toledo, Ohio, a son of Frank and Louise Holly Thum.

A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Mt. Tabor Evangelical Church and the American Legion Post 493, both in St. Louis. He was a machinist and a farmer.

Survivors include two sisters, Marcella Thum and Gladys Thum, both of St. Louis.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach. The Rev. John Dautenhahn will officiate. Burial will be in Lake Memorial Gardens, Osage Beach.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. today.

WITT

Mary Hannah Witt, 75, Eldon, died July 6, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born Nov. 17, 1926, in Brumley, a daughter of Joseph and Ethel Pierce Musick. She was married Feb. 19, 1945, in Olathe, Kan., to Basil Witt, who died in November 1976.

She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Survivors include: one son, William Dean Witt, Marshall; five daughters, Patricia Witt, Brumley, Sharon Dunwiddie, Lake Ozark, Rita Fisher, Clarksburg, Nita Merritt, Mansfield, Ill., and Beverly Witt, Eldon; one brother, two sisters; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.

One grandson preceded her in death.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California.

FRIEDMEYER

Margaret Friedmeyer, 94, California, died July 8, 2002, at her home.

She was born April 5, 1908, in Arkansas City, Kan., a daughter of Caradoc and Rachel Liston Evans. She was married June 19, 1929, in Pittsburg, Kan., to Mayo F. York, who died Sept. 4, 1962. She was married July 22, 1972, in Warrensburg, to Harold Friedmeyer, who died June 5, 1997.

She served as deacon of the First Christian Church, California, from 1963 to 1993. She was a 50-year member of the Chapter GL, PEO Sisterhood and a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 521. She served as California city collector from 1959 to 1973.

Survivors include: two sisters, Mariam Hay, Pittsburg, Kan., and Lorraine Galvani, Council Bluff, Iowa; two stepdaughters; and two step grandsons.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Weber and Sons Funeral Home, California. The Rev. David Nicholson will officiate. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery, California.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church, California, Mo. or the Cotty College, Nevada, Mo., in care of, Nancy B. Poage, 903 South Francis Street, California, Mo. 65018.

MELLER

Barbara R. Meller, 66, Bartow, Fla., died July 7, 2002.

She was born July 1, 1936, in Brazito, a daughter of Oscar and Anna Goetz. Her father survives. She was married to Ralph J. Meller, who survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, John Meller and Sam Meller; one daughter, Jill Blanchard Jr., Chicago; one brother, Jim Goetz, Brazito; and one sister, Jane Happy.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ascension Church in Chesterfield. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Wildwood.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Bucholz Mortuary West in Chesterfield.

Memorials are suggested to Lasalette Missionaries, 4650 S. Broadway, St. Louis, Mo. 63111 or St. Jude Hospital.

OSMAN

Kenneth T. Osman Sr., 91,  Jefferson City, died July 9, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born July 31, 1910, in Brazil, Ind., a son of Virgil and Laura Slider Osman. He was married June 14, 1941, in Merom, Ind., to Mary Elizabeth Apple, who survives at the home.

He graduated from Brazil High School and attended Transylvania College in Lexington, Ky., and graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington with a bachelor's of science degree in history. He worked as the first executive director of YMCAs in Redwood City, Calif., San Carlos, Calif., and Belmont, Calif., from 1954-1958. He was vice president for development at Transylvania College for 23 years. He worked as executive director of the United Way in El Paso, Texas , and retired as executive director of the United Way in Connersville, Ind. He was a member of the First Christian Church in El Paso, Texas and Lexington, Ky. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Merom, Ind. He was a member of the Optimist Club of Marion, Ind. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of Pi Kappa Alpha at Indiana University.

Other survivors include one son, Kenneth T. Osman II,  Jefferson City, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Private family services will be in Merom, Ind.

Memorials are suggested to the  Jefferson City YMCA.

Arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

BROTHERTON

Clark Edward Brotherton, 53, Versailles, died July 8, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 11, 1948, in Versailles, a son of Edward V. and Elsie E. Vogt Brotherton. He was married June 22, 1973, to Brenda G. Davis, who survives at the home.

He was a member of the Family Worship Center, Versailles.

Other survivors include: one son, Jason Edward Brotherton, Stover; one daughter, Jennifer Lynn Brotherton, of the home; two brothers, Paul Ellis Brotherton, state of Florida, and Gene Lynn Brotherton, Versailles; one sister, Bonnie Lee, state of Iowa; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Family Worship Center, Versailles. The Rev. Danny Owsley will officiate. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

GRATEKE

Beverly Deloris Grateke, 65,  Jefferson City, died July 9, 2002, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center,  Jefferson City.

She was born Jan. 18, 1937, in Sullivan, a daughter of William H. and Mary Frances Earney Ary. She was married July 2, 1955, in St. Louis, to Chris Louis Grateke, who survives at the home.

She attended schools in Kirkwood and was a graduate of Kirkwood High School. She was a member of Parkview Christian Church, Sedalia, and several quilting circles.

A homemaker, she was a house director for Alpha Phi Sorority in Columbia. She was a pianist and church organist at several churches.

Other survivors include: one son, Christopher Louis Grateke, Tebbetts; one daughter, Linda Mary Gerlt, Sedalia; two sisters, Sandra Fisher, Milan, Tenn., and Christine Ary, Columbia; and four grandchildren.

One daughter, Luanne Barbara Chellis, who died Jan. 16, 1999.

Services will be at 2 p.m. July 21 at Parkview Christian Church, Sedalia. The Rev. Rodney L. Brown will officiate. Private burial will be held.

Memorials are suggested to the Show Me Christian Youth Home, LaMonte, or the Michelle and Benjamin Chellis Memorial Fund.

Arrangements are under the direction of Buescher Memorial Home.
