PURCELL
Glyn Elwood Purcell, 77, New Bloomfield, died March 17, 2003, at Oakview Skilled Care, Jefferson City.
He was born July 7, 1925, in Ashland, a son of Arthur H. and Nellie Herron Purcell. He was married in 1979, in Ashland, to Opal Bayte, who died Jan. 4, 1993.
He retired from the University of Missouri athletic department. A former Ashland resident, he was a member of Ashland Baptist Church.
Survivors include: two daughters, Beverly Ann Stephens, Vancouver, Wash., and Barbara Nunnery, New Bloomfield; one stepson, Dale Schuerman, Ashland; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Robinson Funeral Home, Ashland. Wallace John son will officiate. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.

SCHRIMPF
Stella Philomena Schrimpf, 95, Jefferson City, died March 17, 2003, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born March 3, 1908, in Wardsville, a daughter of Bernard "Ben" and Dorothea Schwaller Prenger. She was married April 20, 1927, in Wardsville, to Harold William Schrimpf, who died March 10, 1942.
She worked for many years with International Shoe Factory, Oberman Pants Factory, Tweedie Shoe Factory and St. Marys Hospital. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Daughters of Isabella, St. Ann's Sodality and the Immaculate Club.
Survivors include: one son, William Joseph Schrimpf, Jefferson City; two daughters, Mary Kathleen "Katie" McCann and Patricia Ruth Zalken, both of Jefferson City; one brother, George Prenger, Jefferson City; one sister, Alline Utyro, Superior, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

CALTON
Trustin C. Calton, 13, Linn, died March 15, 2003, at St. Marys Health Center, from injuries sustained in a bicycle accident in Linn.
He was born Dec. 5, 1989, in Columbia, a son of Donald and Teresa Williams Calton. His father survives in Linn and his mother survives in Kansas City.
He was in seventh-grade at Osage County Middle School, Linn. He was a member of Lakeside Community Baptist Church.
Other survivors include: one brother, Trevor Calton, Middletown; two sisters, Gwen Calton and Miranda Schultz, both of Linn; and grandfather Aubrey Calton, Warsaw.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at West Union Baptist Church, near Versailles. The Rev. Dallas Moritz and the Rev. Rod Campbell will officiate. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today at St. Johns United Methodist Church, Linn. Additional visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.
Memorials are suggested to the Trustin Calton Memorial Fund.
EYDE
Donna Yancey Eyde, 59, Tucson, Ariz., died March 14, 2003, at her home.
She was born April 15, 1943, in Valley Bend, W.Va., a daughter of Bill and Ruth Yancey, who survive in New Bloomfield. She was married Nov. 25, 1965, in Omaha, Neb., to David Eyde, who survives in Tucson.
She received her bachelor's degree in anthropology and philosophy and a master's degree in art education at the University of Nebraska. She received her doctorate in special education and psychology at the University of Missouri. She was director of educational therapy at Nebraska Psychiatric Institute, Omaha. She was an associate professor with tenure at Creighton University, Omaha. She taught remedial reading at the University of Arizona and was a published author.
Survivors include: one son, David Yancey Eyde, Kansas City; two brothers, Richard Yancey, Indianapolis, and Bill Yancey, Kansas City; and one sister, Roberta "Chick" Clark, Tifton, Ga.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Dry Fork Baptist Church, Guthrie. The Rev. Jim Shaver will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hudgel's Swan Funeral Home, Tucson.
LEIGHTON
Charles G. Leighton, 91, Osage Beach, died March 17, 2003, at his home.
He was born March 20, 1911, in Ludlow, Mass., a son of David and Esther McNally Leighton.
He worked in the shipping department at Merlin Electric Company and was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: one daughter, Jean VanDusen, Osage Beach; one brother, James Leighton; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at a later date.
Arrangements are under the of Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach.
MORTS
Ernest Dean "Ernie" Morts, 61, Fulton, died March 17, 2003, at Callaway Community Hospital, Fulton.
He was born April 20, 1941, in Fulton, a son of Harvey E. and Martha Dawson Morts. He was married Aug. 11, 1962, in Fulton, to Doris Mealy, who survives at the home.
He graduated in 1961 from Fulton High School. He worked in the meat department at Mosers Discount Foods and was a member of the Court St. Methodist Church, Fulton.
Survivors include: two sons, Randall Glenn Morts, Wellsville, and Ryan Dean Morts, Fulton; one daughter, Robyn Leigh Berwys, Fulton; one brother, Harvey Gene Morts, Bartow, Fla.; and one granddaughter.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. Bruce Williamson will officiate. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Friday.
Memorials are suggested to Mid-MO River Hospice.
RECTOR
James E. "Red" Rector Sr., 82, Camdenton, died March 17, 2003, at his home.
He was born May 20, 1920, near Old Linn Creek, a son of Nathan and Edna May Walters Rector. He was married Feb. 4, 1939, to Dorothy Webb, who survives at the home.
He was raised in the Camdenton area and moved to St. Louis, where he worked at a defense plant. He moved back to Camdenton where he owned five service stations for 20 years. He then was yard manager for Mid-West Lumber Company. He retired from AB Rental Company in 1982, after 11 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Other survivors include: two sons, Larry Rector, Camdenton, and Lee Rector Sr., Macks Creek; one daughter, Carolyn Seaton, Macks Creek; three sisters, Mayden Ray and Marjorie Enochs, both of Joplin, and Maxine Bagley, St. Joseph, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
One son, James Rector Jr., preceded him in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. The Rev. Dean Rooffener will officiate. Burial will be in Myetta Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

SCHWARTZ
Viola Schwartz, 87, Vienna, died March 18, 2003, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born Aug. 10, 1915, in Vienna, a daughter of Thomas and Sallie Brandel Eads. She was married Dec. 1, 1945, in Vienna, to Harold Francis Schwartz, who died Aug. 19, 1998.
She was a homemaker and helped with the family grocery business in Vienna for 25 years. She was a member of Visitation Catholic Church, Vienna.
Survivors include: one son, William R. "Bill" Schwartz, Jefferson City; one brother, Arthur Eads, Wardsville; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Visitation Catholic Church. The Rev. John Schmitz will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna, with a vigil service at 7:45 p.m. Additional visitation will be from 9-10:30 a.m. Friday.
