Jadie Franklin Still, Jr., 80, of Sardis, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center of heart failure.

Services were Sunday at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Sardis. Burial was at Wesley Chapel cemetery. Rev. Norman H. Holliday officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Still, born icon Dec. 12, 1922, to the late Jadie Franklin and the late Bessie Scruggs Still, Sr., was a retired construction inspector with Mississippi Department of Transportation of 45 years, a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII and a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife Mary Appleton Still of Sardis; one daughter Susan Still King of Como; one son Butch Still of Sardis; one sister Betty Still Glenn of Florida; one brother Cecil F. Still of Batesville; four grandchildren, John Still Jr. and Amy Still Brown, both of Batesville, Shannon King and C.J. King, both of Como and three great-grandchildren, Tripp Still and Chris and Evan Brown, all of Batesville.

Memorials may be sent to Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Sardis.

Stripling, Shirley Ann Tutor
Shirley Ann Tutor Stripling, 66, of Oxford, died Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-East in Memphis, Tenn.

Services are today at 2 p.m. at Waller Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford. Burial is at Yellow Leaf cemetery. Rev. Ross Robertson will officiate. Waller Funeral Home has charge.

Stripling was a retired assembly line worker with Holly Carburetor and a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband Hugh L. Stripling of Oxford; one step-daughter Melissa Irby of Brookhaven; one step-son Robert Hugh Stripling of Thaxton; four sisters, Mary Ruth Pettit of Pontotoc, Ruby Jean Oswalt of Pontotoc, Bobbie Nell Pettit of Lambert and Patty Sue Baker of Courtland; three brothers, Wayne Tutor of Randolph, James Lee Tutor of Pontotoc and Richard Glenn Tutor of San Antonio, Texas and four step-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to the Yellow Leaf cemetery Fund.

Tabor, Mack H.
Mack H. Tabor, 83, of Courtland, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at his residence of heart disease.

Services were Wednesday at Mt. Oliver M.B. Church in Curtis. Burial was at the Macedonia cemetery in Batesville. Rev. W.L. Nash officiated. Henderson Funeral Home of Sardis had charge.

Tabor, born icon Aug. 10, 1920, to the late Henry Tabor, was a retired gin operator. He was a veteran of WW II and a member of Mt. Olivet M.B. Church in Curtis.

Survivors include his wife Christine Tabor of Courtland; three daughters, Ruby Milam of Courtland, Georgia Head and Ella Mae Samuel, both of Chicago, Ill.; three sons, Willie E. Tabor of Crenshaw, Ely C. Tabor of Nesbit and David Tabor of Batesville; one sister Glorene Craig of Chicago, Ill.; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Taylor, Lucille "Doll"
Lucille "Doll" Taylor, 61, of Senatobia, died Friday, August 15, 2003, at Methodist South Hospital in Memphis.

Services were Saturday at Mt. Level M.B. Church in Como. Burial was at Howard Chapel Church. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home in Senatobia had charge.

Taylor was a life time member of Mt. Level Church and a retired school bus driver.

Survivors include one daughter Darlene Taylor; two sons, James Edward Taylor of Batesville and David Levell Taylor of Sardis; one sister Bertha Callicott of Memphis; four brothers, Milton Gross of Sardis, Arthur Gross of Memphis, Bobby Gross of Sardis and Oscor Gross of Memphis; 19 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Tedford, Richard "Sonny" Cortez
Richard "Sonny" Cortez Tedford, 65, of Marks, died Tuesday, August 12, 2003, at his residence.

Services were Thursday at Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks. Burial was at Marks cemetery. Dr. Ron Kirkland officiated. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.

Tedford, born icon March 22, 1938, to the late Arlas "Bridges" Tedford and the late Opaline Williams Tedford, worked for Valley Foods, was a member of West Marks Baptist Church, a member of the Realtors Association and a former House of Representatives for eight years.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Tena Morgan.

Survivors include his wife Donna Walley of Houston, Miss.; one daughter Mona Pittman of Batesville; one son Rusty Tedford of Memphis; one brother Jerry Tedford of Bruce; five grandchildren, Emma, Anne Elizabeth, Cady Pittman, Russ Tedford and Lane Morgan.

Tedford, Willie T. "Ta"
Willie T. "Ta" Tedford, 92, of Courtland, died Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at her daughter's home of heart failure.

Services were Saturday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Magnolia cemetery. Rev. Eugene Howell and Rev. William Johnson officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Tedford, born icon October 16, 1910, to the late William Kervin and the late Edna Earle Hill Williams, was a retired owner of T.A. Tedford Grocery and a member of Emanuel Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Martha Tedford Hubbard of Courtland and Patsy Tedford Stanley of Jackson; one son Toy A. Tedford, Jr. of Bay Saint Louis, Miss.; one sister Irma May Williams Goss of Clarksdale; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Thomas, Cubit Lee
Cubit Lee Thomas, 43, of Batesville, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at his residence.

Services were Thursday at Shiloh M.B. Church in Courtland with interment at Shiloh cemetery. Rev. Carl Brown officiated services. Cooley's Mortuary, Inc. had charge.

Thomas, born icon Dec. 3, 1959, to Cubit Thomas and Lora Oliver, was a farmer and a member of Shiloh M.B. Church.

Survivors include his companion, Mattie Jones of Batesville; two sons, Benjamin Jones and Justin Thomas, both of Batesville; three daughters, Chestina Jones of Batesville, Brenda Coleman and Lisa Coleman both of Memphis, Tenn.; one brother, Barry Thomas of Grand Rapid, Mich.; six sisters, Rosie Webster and Bobbie Webster both of Courtland, Emma Carr of Batesville, Betty Lester, Leona Webster, and Betty M. Wright, all of Grand Rapids, Mich; and five grandchildren.

Thomas, John
John Thomas, 89, of Charleston, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.

Services were Thursday at Newsom Funeral Home. Burial was at New Hope cemetery in Tillatobia. Newsom Funeral Home had charge.

Thomas, born icon Sept. 12, 1913, was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife Alice Thomas of Charleston; one son Ray Slaughter of Oakland; two sisters, Maggie Tucker of Richmond, Va. and Johnnie Mae Chambers of Dallas, Texas; one brother James Thomas of Grenada and two grandchildren.

Thomas, John Reed
John Reed Thomas, 44, of Detroit, Mich., died Sunday, August 3, 2003, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Mich.

Services are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Viney Creek M.B. Church in Sardis. Burial is at Viney Creek cemetery. Rev. Ozine Thomas will officiate.

Thomas, born icon June 30, 1959, to the late Genie Thomas and the late Nancy Hewlette, was disabled and a member of Viney Creek M.B. Church in Sardis.

Survivors include one son Brandon Thomas of Detroit, Mich.; one daughter Gaberiel Thomas of Detroit, Mich.; two brothers, Rev. Ozine Thomas of Memphis and Eddie Thomas of Springfield, Mo.; five sisters, Carrie Thomas, Emma Thomas, both of Batesville, Eunice Edwards and Barbara McCullins, both of Los Angeles, Calif. and Rosie Shaw of Milwaukee, Wis.

Thomas, Minnie L.
Minnie L. Thomas, 100, of Batesville, died Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, at her home.

Services were Saturday at Concord M.B. Church, with interment at Concord cemetery in Batesville. Rev. John Snow, III officiated. Cooley's Mortuary had charge.

Thomas, born icon Feb. 17, 1903, to the late Walter and Hattie Johnson Griffin, was a housewife, a member of Concord M.B. Church, a member of Mother Board and Order of Eastern Star Panola County Lodge #2.

Survivors include six daughters, Wilkie Hentz of Batesville, Lucille Cooper of Batesville, Irma Martin of Batesville, Annie Smith of Tulsa, Okla., Alberta Gains of South Bend, Ind. and Lula Childs of Tulsa, Okla.; two sons, Joseph Thomas of Batesville and Stanley Thomas, Jr. of Batesville; one sister, Lula Black of Batesville; 33 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Thomas-Dodd, Patricia Parnell
Patricia Parnell Thomas-Dodd, 70, of Sardis, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at St. Francis Hospital in Charleston.

Services were Saturday at Moore Funeral Home, Sardis, with interment at Rose Hill cemetery in Sardis. Rev. Allen Parnell officiated. Moore Funeral Home had charge.

Dodd, born icon August 7, 1932, to the late Floyd Parnell and the late Tommye Ester Raiford Parnell, was a member of Central Heights Baptist Church in Florence, Ala., member of Pilot Club and Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband, Cecil Dodd of Florence, Ala.; one daughter, Jamie Thomas of Charleston, S.C. and one brother, Robert Ford Parnell of Boulder, Colo.

Thomas, Wilma Dean
Wilma Dean Thomas, 68, of Houston, Texas, died Sunday, February, 23, 2003, at Park Plaza Hospital in Houston, Tex.

Services will be held Saturday, at 2 p.m. at Concord M.B. Church in Batesville with interment at Concord cemetery. Rev. John Snow, III will officiate. Cooley's Mortuary, Inc. has charge.

Thomas, born icon February 9, 1935, to the late Edward Thomas, Jr. and the late Eddie Love Thomas, was a professional seamstress and a member of Concord M.B. Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Hope Thomas of Houston; one son, Charles Edward Thomas, of Houston; two brothers, Charles McCain and Arthur Roy Thomas, both of Batesville; four sisters, Anna J. Chapman of Batesville, Vivian Henderson of Memphis, Vernan Earl of Chicago, Ill., and LaJoyce Dixon of Evanston, Ill; and four grandchildren.
