LAMBERT - Claudia Ruth Bennett, 83, died Tuesday, October 25, 2005, at St. Francis Nursing Home in Memphis, Tenn.

Services were yesterday at West Marks Baptist Church in Marks. Rev. Tim Mims officiated. Burial was in Marks cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.

Bennett, born icon Feb. 1, 1922, in Lapile, Ark., was a retired beautician and a member of West Marks Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Archer Bennett.

Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Bollinger of Cordova, Tenn.; two sons, James E. Bennett of Yazoo City and Mark Edward Bennett of Jefferson City, Tenn.; one sister, Elise Gunter of Crossett, Ark.; seven grandchildren and two great - grandchildren.

FARRIS, Jonah William "J.W."
BATESVILLE - Jonah William "J.W." Farris, 67, died Monday, October 24, 2005, at his residence.

Services are today at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Tim Ellis will officiate. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Farris, born icon Feb. 28, 1938, in Lambert to the late Jonah William and Madge Cooner Farris Sr., was a self - employed contractor and was a Korean Veteran serving in the United States Army.

Survivors include two daughters, Cathy Lynn Farris Morgan of Batesville and Michelle Louise Baker of Southaven; one sister, Sylvia Farris Rorie of Atoka, Tenn.; two half - sisters, Lorene Mills of Crowder and Genette Bowman of Ruleville; one half - brother, John Oswalt of Starkville and two grandchildren.

LANE, Joyce Boyette
Bay City, Mich. - Joyce Boyette Lane, 68, formerly of Batesville, died Sunday, October 16, 2005.

Services are tomorrow at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Pate - Jones Funeral Home. Burial will be in Marks cemetery. Pate - Jones Funeral Home of Senatobia has charge.

Lane was a retired office clerk and a member of West Bank Michigan Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Lane, and one son, Robert Smith.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Knight of Port Charolette, Fla. and Rebecca Joyce Smith of Prescott, Mich.; one son, Delmar Eugene Smith of Courtland; two sisters, Marcelle Pegram and Wanda Lou Pacheco, both of Apopka, Fla.; five brothers, Douglas Travis Boyette of Greenville, William Delmar Boyette of Senatobia, Robert Lee Boyette of Coldwater and Mackey Dean Boyette and Jerry Ladrell, both of Como; eight grandchildren and six great - grandchildren.

LEWIS, Harry L.
SENATOBIA - Harry L. Lewis, 91, died Wednesday, October 26, 2005, at North Oak Regional Hospital in Senatobia.

Services are today at 3 p.m. at Senatobia Church of Christ. Burial will be in Bethesda cemetery in Senatobia. Pate - Jones Funeral Home has charge.

Lewis was a retired farmer, a member of Senatobia Church of Christ, a veteran of WWII and was a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy where he served as a naval aviator.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Lewis.

Survivors include his wife, Cornelia Garrott Lewis; two daughters, Ann Lewis Glover of Moulton, Ala. and Linda Lewis Hogan - Harris of Senatobia; one sister, Grace Lewis Gavita of Senatobia; two grandchildren and one great - grandchild.

OSWALT, Otis M.
Lenexa, Kan. - Otis M. Oswalt, 88, died Monday, October 24, 2005, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.

Services were yesterday at the First Baptist Church of Overland Park in Kansas City, Mo. Burial was in Memorial Park cemetery. Park Lawn Funeral Home had charge.

Oswalt, born icon July 30, 1917, in Yazoo City, was a WWII Navy veteran and worked as an accountant. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, American Legion, and I.O.O.F.

Survivors include three brothers, Jim Oswalt of Overland Park, Kan., Chuck Oswalt of DeSoto, Kan. and Bill Oswalt of Wichita, Kan.; four sisters, Christine Bush of Jackson, Mildred Bailey of Oakland, Loyce Fugitt of Overland Park, Kan. and Lurline Myers of Lenexa, Kan. and many nieces and nephews.

PRESLEY, Mary Ruth Shaw
SARDIS - Mary Ruth Shaw Presley, 78, died Monday, October 24, 2005, at Sardis Community Nursing Home in Sardis.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at Waller Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford. Burial will be in College Hill cemetery in Oxford. Dr. Gary Richardson will officiate. Visitation is also today from 9 a.m. - 10 a.m. at Waller Funeral Home. Waller Funeral Home has charge.

Presley was a homemaker and a member of North Oxford Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Eli Presley.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Grace Foret of Shawnee Mission, Kan. and one sister, Elnora Hamilton Shaw Harmon of Greenwood.

WESLEY, Johnny
COMO - Johnny Wesley, 41, died Friday, October 21, 2005.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Mt. Level M.B. Church in Como. Rev. Bobby Walker will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Level cemetery. Visitation is also today at 10 a.m. at Mt. Level M.B. Church. Henderson Funeral Home has charge.

Wesley, born icon April 14, 1964, to Odessa and the late Robert Wesley, was a member of Mt. Level M.B. Church in Como and a common laborer.

Survivors, along with his mother, include one daughter, April Wesley of Crenshaw; one sister, Pamela K. Wesley of Sardis; three brothers, Robert Wesley of Memphis, Tenn., Michael Wesley of Greenwood and Mark Wesley of Memphis, Tenn.; six aunts and three uncles.

CARPENTER, Robert Lee Sr.
COFFEEVILLE - Robert Lee Carpenter Sr., 55, died Tuesday, February 7, 2006, at Grenada Lakes Medical Center.

Services are today at 2 p.m. at National Funeral Home Chapel in Grenada. Burial will be in Coffeeville City cemetery.

Carpenter was a district manager for TVA and a member of Coffeeville First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda H. Carpenter of Coffeeville; one daughter, Candace Elaine Ferguson of Grenada; one son, Robert Lee Carpenter Jr. and his wife Jennifer White Carpenter of Coffeeville; one grandson, Dalton Lee Ferguson of Grenada; one sister, Wanda Faye Martin of Memphis, Tenn.; and one brother, Clinton Carpenter of Charleston.

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

FAULKNER, Brian Keith
BATESVILLE - Brian Keith Faulkner, 38, died Sunday, January 29, 2006, in Greenwood.

Services were held Wednesday, February 1, at the First United Methodist Church. Dr. Martin Case and Reverend Russell Fletcher officiated, with burial in Batesville - Magnolia cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

Faulkner was born icon July 12, 1967, in Batesville. He graduated from South Panola High School in 1986 and received an associate of business administration degree from Northwest Mississippi Community College. He was employed with Bailey and Draper Law Firm and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Bolen Draper and his father, Roderick Vernon Draper of Batesville, two sisters, Grace Draper Toulou and Elizabeth Draper Guerrero, one niece and one nephew, all of Texas; five aunts, Carolyn Bolen Toliver, Margaret Bolen Darby, Helen Bolen Carlisle Stroupe, and Melissa Cannon Bolen, all of Batesville, and Linda Bolen Respess of Crowder.

Survivors also include four uncles, Birl Kenneth Bolen, Jerry Darby and Jerry Stroupe of Batesville and Charles Davis Respess of Crowder and nine cousins.

His grandfather, Birl Maulton Bolen, his uncle, Michael Henderson Toliver, and his uncle Robert N. Carlisle, all of Batesville, preceded him in death.

The family requests that memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, Post Office Box 797, Batesville, MS 38606.

HENSON, Earline Hubbard
COURTLAND - Mrs. Earline Hubbard Henson, 81, died Wednesday, February 8, 2006, at Tri - Lakes Medical Center.

Services will be held Saturday, February 11, at 11 a.m. at Eureka United Methodist Church with visitation tonight from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Eureka Private cemetery in Courtland. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Henson, born icon on November 14, 1924, in Panola County to Earl G. and Ossie Fowler Hubbard, was a retired clerk for TVEPA in Batesville and a member of Eureka United Methodist Church in Courtland.

She was preceded in death by one son, Buford Shands Henson Jr.

Survivors include one son, Tim Henson, one sister, Dot Hubbard Watson, and a brother, J.C. Hubbard, all of Courtland, four grandchildren and four great - grandchildren.

OBEY, Taiwan "Chicken" Sr.
COURTLAND - Mr. Taiwan "Chicken" Obey Sr., 28, died Friday, February 3, 2006, at his residence.

Visitation is today from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Cooley's Mortuary, Inc. Services will be held Saturday, February 11, at 1 p.m. at Pope Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Pope. Reverend Zannie Leland Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Pope Chapel cemetery. Cooley's Mortuary has charge.

Obey was born icon on July 14, 1977, to Leroy Richardson and Linda Faye Oby Richardson Deshileds in Courtland. He was a self - employed construction worker and a member of Pope Chapel A.M.E. Church. He was also a member of the Panola Biker Club.

Survivors include his wife, Tasha Obey, his son, Taiwan Obey Jr., two daughters, Takoya Obey and Laquisha Bishop, all of Courtland; his mother and step - father, Linda Faye and Tommy Deshileds of Bolivar, Tenn.; his father and step - mother, Leroy and Emma Richardson of Courtland; two sisters, Zipporah and Natora Richardson both of Bolivar, Tenn.; and three brothers, Jakeddrick McGuire and Epron McGuire, both of Bolivar, Tenn., and Daiwan Richardson of Courtland.
