Charles L. Bright, 75, of Courtland, died Friday, Feb. 27, 2004, at his residence of heart failure.

Services were Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004, at Wells Funeral Home Chapel in Batesville. Burial was in Terza United Methodist Church cemetery in Batesville. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Bright, born icon May 28, 1928, to the late Hugh Maurice and the late Maggie Mae Land Bright, was a retired truck driver and a member or Terza United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife Cliffie Mae Shephard Bright of Courtland; seven daughters, Mary Ann Bright Nelson of Sardis, Betty Jean Bright Johnson of Water Valley, Martha Faye Bright Bland of Sledge, Patricia Kay Bright, Cathy Lynn Bright and Shelia Mae Bright Turner, all of Courtland and Barbara Joyce Bright Hutchins of Batesville; two sons, Terry Lee Bright of Sardis and Danny Ray Bright of Courtland; one brother Jesse "Bud" Bright of Batesville; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Britnell, Saundra Hannah
Granbury, MS - Saundra Hannah Britnell, 66, of Granbury, died Monday, April 26, 2004, at her residence.

Services were Wednesday at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel. Burial was in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home had charge.

Britnell, born icon Dec. 18, 1937, was retired from Southwestern Bell Corpora-tion, where she was a
secretary with a 30 year record of perfect attendance.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years Hugh Don Britnell and two sisters, Penny Cole and George Hudgins.

Brooks, Clyde
Sardis, Miss. - Clyde Brooks, 53, of Sardis, died Wednesday, August 4, 2004, of natural causes at his residence.

Services were Monday at Rose Chapel M.B. Church in Crenshaw. Burial was at Longtown cemetery. Rev. Watts officiated. Henderson Funeral Home had charge.

Brooks, born icon July 30, 1946, to the late George W. Brooks and the late Ruby L. Moore, attended Panola County schools, was in construction and was a member of Macedonia M.B. Church in Senatobia.

Survivors include his wife Bessie Brooks of Crenshaw; nine daughters, Yolanda Pride of Wynne, Ark., Bernice B. Glenn of Milwaukee, Wis., Shelia Wilson, Debra B. Russell and Lakeisha M. Thomas, all of Sardis, Patricia Ann Brooks of Memphis, Tenn., Brenda B. Brooks of Como, Glenda B. Kirkwood and Vivian B. Roberson, both of Crenshaw; two sons, Clyde Brooks Jr. of Crenshaw and William E. Thomas of Arlington, Texas and two brothers, Dempsey Brooks and Chester Brooks, both of Crenshaw.

Brower, Annie Bell
Annie Bell Brower, 83, of Crowder, died Monday, June 14, 2004, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.

Services were Wednesday at Nowell Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksdale. Burial was in Memorial Gardens in Clarksdale. Rev. Billy Blakely officiated. Nowell Funeral Home had charge.

Brower, born icon Sept. 20, 1920, was a housewife.

Survivors include three daughters, Ann Bowie of Rosedale, Brenda Snyder of Crowder and Marilyn Jane Austin of Courtland; three sons, George Dalton Brower and Kenneth Wayne Brower, both of Crowder and James Wesley Brower of Carrolton; four sisters, Floy Long of Southaven, Gloria Jean Williams of Gore Springs, Gladys Helen Tacker of Greenville and Ruth Marion Gates of Ash Flat, Ark.; 30 grandchildren; and 68 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband George Dalton Brower.

Brown, Martha Elizabeth Hope Merriman
Martha Elizabeth Hope Merriman Brown, 84, of Sardis, died Wednesday, September 22, 2004, at her residence.

Brown, born icon Oct. 16, 1919, to the late C.B. Hope and Maudie Arnold Hope, was a member of Union Baptist Church, a housewife and a mother.

Services were Friday at Union Baptist Church near Sardis. Burial was in Union Baptist cemetery. Rev. Robert Hickey officiated. Moore Funeral Home had charge.

She was preceded in death by her husband Audrey Brown.

Survivors include one daughter Mary Ellen Joslin of Sardis; four sons, M.E. "Butch" Merriman of Sardis, William J. "Bill" Brown of Como, Jack Brown and Andy Brown, both of Senatobia; one step-son Homer Brown of Sardis; one sister Louise Brown of Sardis; two brothers, Melvin Hope of Coldwater and John Robert Hope of Memphis, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Brown, Ola Mae
Ola Mae Brown, 78, of Harmontown, died Wednesday, September 15, 2004, in Tupelo.

Brown was retired from Carter Manufacturing in Senatobia and a member of Laws Hill Church of Christ for over 50 years.

Services were Friday at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch. Burial was in Harmontown cemetery. Brantley Funeral Home had charge.

She was preceded in death by her husband Julius O. Brown her daughter Linda Bright and her son Darryl Brown.

Survivors include four sons, Dale Brown of Memphis, Tenn., Don Brown of Hammond, La., Steve Brown of Wichita Falls, Texas and Darren Glen Brown of Bartlett, Tenn.; one sister Ruby Hunt of Senatobia; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Browning, Lois Christine Perkins
Lois Christine Perkins Browning, 87, of Oxford, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.

Services were Monday at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Panola County. Burial was at Shady Grove cemetery. Rev. Steve Quarles officiated. Waller Funeral Home had charge.

Browning, a retired factory worker, was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, but attended College Hill Heights Baptist Church for the past several years.

Survivors include one son Grady "Pete" Browning Jr. of Oxford; one brother Tracy Perkins of Batesville; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Grady Browning Sr. and one grandson Grady Scott Browning. All memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Bryant, Magdalene Townsend
Madgalene Townsend Bryant, 64, of Batesville, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at her residence of heart failure.

Services were Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at Wells Funeral Home Chapel in Batesville. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Bryant, born icon Dec. 25, 1939, to the late Harvey and the late Gillie Mae Hill Townsend, was a homemaker and a member of County Line Baptist Church in Crystal Springs.

Survivors include her daughter Charlotte Bryant McCachren of Batesville; two sons, Samuel David Bryant and Daniel Allen Bryant, both of Batesville; one sister Frances Cockrell of Pocahontas; one brother Lester Townsend of Jackson; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband John J. Bryant Sr.

Buford, L.P.
L.P. Buford, 87, of Senatobia, died Friday, June 25, 2004, at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven.

Services were Saturday at Springfield M.B. Church in Senatobia. Burial was in Gravelspring cemetery in Senatobia. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home had charge.

Buford was a retired carpenter and a member of Springfield M.B. Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Gloria M. Hoskin of Danville, Ill., Jeanette Lewis and Patricia Lewis, both of Como and Annie Ruth Griffin of Gary, Ind.; six sons, Jerry Ondias and Robert Buford, both of Como, Ollive Buford, Jimmie Buford and L.P. Buford Jr., all of Senatobia, Charles Hoskin, Danville, Ill.; one sister Espie Bland of Senatobia; 25 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Bullard, Thomas Bailey Sr.
Thomas Bailey Bullard Sr., 60, of Batesville, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, at his residence.

Services were Tuesday at Dickins Chapel in Batesville. Rev. Jes Chidwick officiated. Burial was at Crowder cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

Bullard, born icon Sept. 11, 1943, to the late John Wesley and the late Lillie Aline Holland Bullard, was employed by Scrap Metal Recycling and was a member of Blue Lake Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Patricia Faye Holloway Bullard of Batesville; two sons, Wesley Bullard of Crenshaw and Thomas Bailey Bullard Jr. of Tupelo; two daughters, Stacy Bullard and Tracy Davis, both of Batesville; one brother Junior Bullard of Pope; one sister Ruth Smith of Independence; and nine grandchildren.

Burnham, Norma Elaine "Nannie"
Norma Elaine Burnham, 78, of Oxford, died Friday, July 2, 2004, at her residence.

Services were Sunday at Waller Funeral Home in Oxford. Burial was in Pine Grove cemetery in Templeton, Mass. Rev. Jimmy Sockwell officiated. Waller Funeral Home had charge.

Burnham, a retired ITT American Electric Credit Manager, was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Oxford and a volunteer at Baptist Memorial Hospital. She was also a member of R.S.V.P. and worked with the Literacy Program and The Pantry in Lafayette County.

Survivors include two daughters, Shelia E. Gall of Oxford and Peggy Tidwell of Columbia, Tenn.; one son Steven C. Burnham of Summerville, Ohio; three sisters, Eleanor Burnham of Essex Junction, Vt., Phylis Kliskey of North Bennington, Vt. and Lois Charles of Fort Myers, Fla.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Burnham.
