WILLIAM HOUSTON
William Howard Houston, 86, of Bay St Louis, MS, passed away on Monday; March 12, 2007 in Bay St. Louis, MS. He was a lifelong resident of Montgomery, AL until October 2000 when he and his wife, Idelia moved to Waveland, MS To be near his daughter, Linda Houston Myers and son in law Bill A. Myers.
Mr. Houston while living in Waveland and recently in Diamondhead has been a member of the Bay St. Louis Church Of Christ. Prior to that he was a life long Christian attending the Church of Christ in Montgomery AL.
Mr. Houston was a veteran. In WWII he was unable to be a combat soldier due to the loss of use in one eye. Therefore he was in an Army Intelligence unit working as a Cryptographer.
After WWII Mr. Houston joined the Air National Guard, with whom he served for over 20 years.
After Hurricane Katrina destroyed his home, Mr. Houston and his wife moved to Diamondhead with his Daughter and son in law. He lived there until his death.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Idelia M. Houston; parents, Walter & Callie Houston; 4 brothers, Walter, Collier, Linus, and Samuel James Houston; and a sister, Ruby Houston Lewis.
He is survived by his son, Howard "Butch" Houston of Minneapolis, MN; a daughter, Linda Houston Myers of Dia¬mondhead, MS; and a host of nieces & nephews.
A Prayer Service will follow at 1 p.m. A Graveside Service was held Friday, March 16, 2007. in Greenwood cemetery in Montgomery, AL.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to St Jude Children's Research, 332 North Lauderdale, Memphis„ TN 38105.

RUTH CRANE CRIGHTON
Ruth Crane Crighton passed away with dignity and grace on March 14, 2007. Left to cherish her memories is her loving husband of 56 years, Alexander M. "Keith" Crighton, Jr., her sons Alexander M. "Kip" Crighton, III, and his wife Angela, and Chris E. Crighton and his wife Tina, her brother Dr. Edmond Crane and his wife Gwen, and her sisters-in-law Clyde Richardson, of Bay St. Louis, and Kathleen Crighton, and her son-in-law Phil Taylor.
Ruth was preceded in death by per parents, Edmund and Ruth Crane, her daughter Cynthia Crighton Taylor, and her brother, William Crane.
She was bron in New Orleans, Louisiana on May 9, 1929; she raised her family in New Orleans and Lafayette, LA. Upon retirement she moved to Bay St. Louis, where she resided until she and her husband were displaced by Hurricane Katrina to Thibodaux, LA.
Ruth had a great affection for her husband, children, family, friends and church. She enjoyed life to the fullest and battled Parkinstin's disease for several years with the same gracefulness and dignity in which she lived life. Ruth is now at peace, and watching over all those she loves.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial service at St. Augustine Seminary, 199 Seminary Drive, Bay St. Louis, MS at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2007. Interment will follow at Hope Mausoleum, New Orleans.
If preferred, you may make a donation in her memory to St. Augustine Seminary, 199 Seminary Drive, Bay St. Louis, MS, 39520.

MARY SMITH
Mary S. "Poonie" Smith, 75, of Bay St. Louis, MS passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 in Bay St. Louis, MS. She was a lifelong resident of Bay St. Louis, MS. She was of the Catholic Faith and a member of St. Rose deLima Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis, MS. She worked as a Social Worker with Head Start.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert E. Smith, Jr.; parents, Daniel & Mary E. Dauctrive-Williams; brothers, Carlton Broussard, John J. Williams, and Peter Williams, and sister, Cecile Broussard.
She is survived by her children, Don R. Smith of Bay St. Louis, MS and Pamela C. Smith of Bay St. Louis, MS; her brother, Roland Broussard of New York; and sisters, Amelia Broussard of New Orleans, LA, and Agnes Lorraine Dean of Maryland. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be on Saturday, March 10, 2007 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at St. Rose deLima Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis, MS. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am. Burial will be private.

EDWARD LUNDIN
Edward Justin Lundin, Sr., the head and heart of his family, was called home to the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on March 6th, 2007, at the age of 89 in Waveland, MS. A man among few of such honor, character and faith, he will be sorely missed by his family and legions of friends whose lives he touched by the example of the selfless, loving life he led.
preceded in death by his parents Walter and Ella Lundin, and four brothers, his beloved wife, Elaine Sill Lundin, and survived by his wife, Mary Jane and sister, Carmel Schneider, he left a legacy of values to his eight children, Mary Elaine Caplinger, Edward Justin Lundin, Jr. and his wife, Mady; Thomas Charles Lundin and his wife, Darlene; Mary Margaret Waldrep and her husband Rusty; Frederick John Lundin, Mary Althea Bartholomew and her husband Joseph; Francis Walter Lundin and his wife Dawn; Brien Flaherty Lundin and his wife Francesca; his step children, Jane Berg and her husband, Bob; Emily Sue Lepard and her husband, William; Roger Munson; Deborah Shelton; and his 20 grandchildren, Charles Arthur Caplinger, IV and his wife, Rebel; Molly O’Meara Papania and her husband, Don; Ryan Lundin Caplinger, Edward Justin Lundin, III, Mary Shelby Lundin, Thomas Charles Lundin Jr., Marcus Louis Lundin and his wife, Honey; Eva Maria Lundin, Jennifer Elaine Vaccaro and her husband, Robert; Davis Justin Lunsford, Erin Lundin Lunsford, Kristen Elaine Lundin, Katelyn Elizabeth Lundin, Frederick John Lundin, Jr., Colleen Flaherty Bartholomew, Keith Patrick Bartholomew, Sean Howell Lundin, Cameron Jean Barre, Blake O’Brien Lundin, Shannon Elaine Lundin, and 10 great grandchildren, Adelaide Elaine, Connor Edward, and Claire Anne Caplinger, Colin Anthony and Patrick Ryan Papania, Griffin Weaver, Carter Louis, and Brock Daniel Lundin, Abigayle Sophie and Isabelle Maya Louise Lunsford, and his dear friend and neighbor, Russell Voorhies. Pallbearers will be his ten grandsons.
born in New Orleans, Mr. Lundin was a resident of Baton Rouge, LA and Waveland, MS for over 50 years. He was a graduate of Jesuit High School, New Orleans and attended Loyola University, New Orleans; he was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Parish, Our Lady of Mercy Ushers Society; Holy Name Society; former Our Lady of Mercy Mens Choir; Family of Praise Charismatic Prayer Group; Jesus Through Mary Rosary Group; Men of Manresa, St. Clare Parish, Waveland, MS.
He retired in 2006 as Sales Manager--CC&W; Enterprises, Inc. and was a Manufacturer’s Representative--Ludowici Roof Tile, Inc.; Past President--former Construction Industry Association of Baton Rouge; Member Board of Directors, three terms—National Roofing Contractors Association; Co-founder and Charter Member—Baton Rouge Roofing & Sheet Metal Contractors Association and helped establish the Roofing and Sheet Metal Unions in Baton Rouge.
He was the first Grand Knight—Knights of Columbus, Mother of Mercy Council 4030 – 1955-56; Member--Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, Msgr. Gassler General Assembly
Past President—Irish Club of Baton Rouge; Past Grand Marshall—Irish Club of Baton Rouge Parade, 1970. He was an Army Air Force, WW II veteran and was a member of the American Legion Post 77, and the Diamondhead Golf Club.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests remembrances to: St. Rose De Lima Outreach and Recovery, 301 S. Necaise Avenue, Bay St. Louis, MS 39520 and St. Clare Church Rebuilding Fund, 234 S. Beach Blvd. Waveland, MS 39576
Visitation took place at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East on Florida Blvd in Baton Rouge on Thursday, March 8. Funeral services were held Friday, March 9th followed by a Mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, LA, at 1:30 pm.

Jude Kenny Lott
Jude Kenny Lott, 69, of Kiln, MS, passed away on Monday, July 16, 2007 in Gulfport, MS. He was born icon in New Orleans, LA and was a lifelong resident of Kiln, MS. Kenny was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in Kiln, MS. He was a Veteran having served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion Post #139 in Bay St. Louis and the VFW Post #6285 in Kiln, MS. Kenny was a loving husband, father, & grandfather and will be sadly missed by all that knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ollie Depreo Varnado, Elisha Lott, and his brother, Robert Bilbo.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Janice Bordelon Lott of Kiln, MS, his 2 daughters, Rachel Marie Lott of Pass Christian, MS, Melissa Ann Lott of Cape Canaveral, FL, his brother, J.W. Bilbo of Tyler Town, MS and his 3 grandchildren.
The visitation will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2007 from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm with Recitation of the Rosary at 8:00 pm at Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis, MS. A Prayer Service will be held on Friday, July 20, 2007 at 10:00 am at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Garden of Memory cemetery in Bay St. Louis, MS.

The Very Reverend Joseph Donald Simon, S.V.D.
The Very Reverend Joseph Donald Simon, S.V.D., Provincial Superior of the Southern Province (U.S.A.) of the Society of the Divine Word passed away at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, MS on July 18, 2007 as a result of complications arising from cancer. He was just over 75 years of age.
Joseph Donald Simon was the fifth and youngest child of Charles Simon, Sr. and Marie Ida Simon nee LaCour. He was born icon on June 30, 1932 in Natchitoches, LA. He is survived by a brother Herbert and a sister Doris Ann. Two brothers, Charles, Jr. and Raymond preceded him in death.
After attending grade school at St. Anthony's Piegay Memorial School, Joseph entered St. Augustine's Seminary in Bay St. Louis in 1947 and had his secondary education there. In 1952 he began his novitiate in Techny, IL and pronounced his first vows as a Divine Word Missionary in 1953.
After junior college at St. Paul's Seminary in Epworth, IA from 1953 to 1955, he returned to Bay St. Louis where he studied philosophy and theology at St. Augustine's Major Seminary. He was ordained a priest on May 4, 1961 by Archbishop Vignozzi who was at that time the Apostolic Delegate to the United States.
Following ordination he studied church history at the Gregorian University in Rome and earned his Licentiate there in 1963. Returning to Bay St. Louis he taught Church History and Homiletics at St. Augustine's until he was assigned to the newly opened Divine Word College in Epworth, IA in 1966.
Besides teaching Church History, Father Simon held various posts such as Director of Development (1975-80), dean of Academic Affairs (1981-87) and most notably President of the College from 1987-93. He was a member of the Board od Trustees of Divine Word college from 1993 until his death.
In 1993, Father returned to Bay St. Louis to serve as Director of Development for the Southern Province from 1993-96. He then served as pastor of St. Joseph's church in Maurice, LA from 1996-2002. While pastor he was also a member of the Provincial Council of the Southern Province from 2000-2002.
In 2002, Father Simon was elected Provinvial Superior of the Southern Province which includes parishes in Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas and Arkansas.
Father also served as a member of the Marriage Tribunals for the Dioceses of Lafayette and Biloxi.
Father Simon also held civic offices. He was Mayor pro tem of Epworth from 1976-85 and served on various State Boards in Eastern Iowa.
Visitation will be at St. Augustine Chapel beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 23, 2007 with a wake-keeping service at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2007. Burial in St. Augustine's cemetery will follow the Mass. Arrangements are by Hartwell's Christian Mortuary in Gulfport. In lieu of flowers donations are preferred to further the mission work of the Divine Word Missionaries.

Joseph Seymour Buccola
Joseph Seymour Buccola, 81, of Bay St. Louis, MS passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2007 in Gulfport, MS. He was born icon in New Orleans, LA and was a resident of Bay St. Louis, MS for the past 44 years. He was Christened Catholic and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bay St. Louis. He was a Shriner. Joe was a well known Real Estate Developer and Business Man.. He was a Veteran having served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather who will be sadly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Carmello & Patrina Carnici Buccola, his brothers, Anthony, Nacious, Johnny, & Benny, Buccola, and his sisters, Antonette Balser, Margarite Walden, Angelena Boodwin, Anna Puzzio, Josie Palmerio, and Frances Thomas.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Dawsey Buccola of Bay St. Louis, daughters, Toni Buccola LaNasa & her husband, J.T. of New Orleans, LA, Mary Lee Bergeron & her husband, Uless of Bay St. Louis, and son, George Garcia of Waveland. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Kristen LaNasa of New Orleans, LA.
His visitation will be on Saturday, July 21, 2007 from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm at Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis, MS. The Funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Gulf Coast Memorial cemetery & Mausoleum in Bay St. Louis, MS.

Mabel L. Abanathie
Mabel L. Abanathie of Bay St. Louis, MS passed away on Friday, July 20, 2007.
She is preceded in death by her Husband, Son, and Daughter.
Mabel celebrated her life with her loving children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers, and sisters.
The visitation will be held on Monday, July 23, 2007 from 9:00 am until 10:00 am at Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis, MS with a Funeral Service at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in Garden of Memory cemetery.

LEO BERMOND JR.
Leo Albertus Bermond, Jr., 64, of Bay St. Louis, MS passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2007 in Bay St. Louis. He was a lifelong resident of Bay St. Louis and was a devoted Catholic and a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis. Leo was with the Fire Department at Stennis Space Center for 41 years. He was also a licensed electrician. He was a loving friend, son, father, and grandfather who will be sadly missed.
He is preceded in death by his father, Leo A. Bermond, Sr., and three brothers, Martin, Kenneth, and Donald Bermond.
He is survived by his very special friend of 45 years, Diane Bermond of Bay St. Louis; his children, Christopher L. Bermond & his wife, Annette of Lakeshore, Victor J. Bermond & his wife, Pam of Bay St. Louis, Patrick T. Bermond of Slidell, LA, Catherine A. McGarr of Denver, CO, and Timothy M. Bermond & his wife, Renee of Madison, MS; his mother, Zadie Kenmar Bermond of Bay St. Louis; his siblings, Aline Hoda of Bay St. Louis, Joseph Bermond of Kosiesko, Vernon Bermond, Raymond Bermond, Jimmy Bermond all of Bay St. Louis, Susan Barbetta of Waveland, and Philip Bermond of Bay St. Louis; his grandchildren, Amanda, Jordan, Christopher, Jr., Jeremy, Zachary, Bailey, Dalton, and Mikayla, and numerous nieces & nephews.
A Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 from 12 noon until 1 pm at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 pm at the church. Interment will follow in St. Mary cemetery.

Kelli Jo Sarpy, 39, of Bay St. Louis, MS passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2007 in Bay St. Louis, MS. Kelli Jo lived in Kenner, LA before moving to Bay St. Louis, MS a year ago.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Sarpy of Bay St. Louis, MS, her daughter, Heather West of Belle Chase, LA, her parents, David & Conie Wartenburg of Kenner, LA, her brother, David Wartenburg & his wife, Dana of Kenner, LA, her 3 nieces, Helena, Lauren, & Heidi of Kenner, LA, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Cheryl & Harold Sarpy of New Orleans, LA, and sister-in-law, Wendy Taillac & her husband, Todd of St. Rose, LA.
The Memorial Service will be on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis, MS.
