Hilton

LELAND -- Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Robert E. Hilton, 80, an engineer with Bell Telephone, of Leland will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. James Catholic Church, Leland. He died Nov. 25, 2002, at his home of heart failure. Private burial will be in Leland-Stoneville Cemetery, Stoneville, under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.

He was a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of the late Robver V. and Eleanor Fuglestad Hilton. He was a veteran of WW II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a pilot flying the P-47 Thunderbolt fighter. He was an engineer with the Bell Telephone System and had a succession of assignments in New York and Mississippi. Upon his retirement from the office in Greenwood, he settled in Leland. He attended the University of Alabama and graduated from Niagara University. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cordette Hilton, in 1963, and a sister, Joan Hilton Gerdes. He was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Candace Hilton Brewer of Bethesda, Md.; a son, Col. Robert E. Hilton Jr., USMC (retired), of Jacksonville, N.C.; two granddaughters, Claudette Brewer and Kristen Brewer, both of Bethesda, Md.; and two grandsons, Anthony Hilton, U.S. Coast Guard, of Norfolk, Va., and Daniel Hilton of Jacksonville, N.C.

Jung

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Memorial services for Rose Marie Jung, 66, of Des Moines, Iowa, a native of Greenville, will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Westover Funeral Home, Des Moines. She died Nov. 26, 2002, at Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines, of heart failure. Private family burial will be in Greenville at a later date.

McGee

BELZONI -- Funeral services for Willie P. McGee, 80, a retired businessman of Belzoni, will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Mortimer Funeral Home chapel, Belzoni. He died Nov. 28, 2002, at his home of heart failure. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at McGee Cemetery, Leake County.

Mr. McGee was born in Leake County and was a Baptist. He was also a veteran of World War II in the Army. He was a retired vice president of Laundry Mart Inc.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Marie McGee; one granddaughter, Angela Chiaramida; five brothers, Otis C. McGee, Clarence McGee, Lewis Clayton McGee, Leroy McGee and Dewitt McGee; and one sister, Pauline McGee.

Survivors include one daughter, Geraldine Chairamida of Belzoni; one grandson, William Chairamida of Boston, Mass.; great-granddaughter, Sophia Rose Chairamida of Boston, Mass.; and many loving nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, who live in Connecticut.

Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mortimer Funeral Home, Belzoni.

The family sends a special thanks to all the people who helped with Mr. McGee's Care.

Perkins

GREENVILLE -- Graveside services for Robert Dewitt "Bob" Perkins, 78, a retired newspaper advertiser of Greenville will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Greenville. He died Nov. 29, 2002, at Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville, of heart failure. Arrangements are under the direction of Mortimer Funeral Home, Greenville.

He moved to Abilene, Texas, at an early age, attended Abilene High School, McMurry College, Abilene College and Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force in WW II. He worked for various newspapers in Texas and New Mexico. He moved to Greenville, Miss., in 1972 and worked for the DDT for several years. After leaving the DDT, he worked for several years in the furniture business and his son's law office. He was a Mason for over 40 years and a member of the Greenville Yacht Club since 1972.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bea Perkins.

Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Perkins and Janet Hovas, both of Greenville, Miss.; four sons, Monty, Donise and Stephen Perkins, all of Texas, and Stan Perkins of Greenville, Miss.; a grandchild, Austin Perkins; and several grandchildren that live in Texas.

Visitation will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Monday at Mortimer Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Spraggs

MOUND BAYOU -- Funeral arrangements for Will Spraggs, 69, of Mound Bayou are pending at Byas Funeral Home, Cleveland. He died Nov. 30, 2002, at his residence.

Walker

RULEVILLE -- Funeral arrangements for Cornealie Walker, 75, of Ruleville are pending at Byas Funeral Home, Ruleville. She died Nov. 29, 2002, at North Sunflower County Hospital, Indianola.

Ware

ROLLING FORK -- Funeral arrangements for L.C. Ware, 83, of Vicksburg and formerly of Rolling Fork, are pending at Walker Funeral Home, Rolling Fork. He died Nov. 27, 2002, at a convalescent home in Vicksburg.

Williams

GREENVILLE -- Funeral arrangements for L.K. Williams, age unavailable of Memphis are pending at Byas Funeral Home, Greenville. He died Nov. 28, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Memphis.

Barefield

OCALA, Fla. -- Graveside services for Mercer Dean Barefield Jr., 85, of Ocala, Fla., and formerly of Hollandale, will be at noon Wednesday in Hollandale Cemetery, Hollandale. He died Jan. 24, 2003, at Sylvia's Hospice House, Ocala, Fla. Burial will be under the direction of Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, Ocala, Fla.

Mr. Barefield was born July 11, 1917, in Hollandale, the son of Mercer Dean and Effie Russell Barefield. He graduated from Virginia Military Institute in 1939 and served in the U.S. Army During World War II. After the war, he moved to Miami to work for Babcock-Lamont, later known as The Babcock Co., a home and office construction company. He retired in 1972 as vice president of The Babcock Co. and moved to Ocala in 1978.

He is survived by his wife, Grace Barefield of Ocala; his daughters, Barbara Barefield of San Diego and Elizabeth Barefield of Davidsonville, Md.; his sons, H. Russell Barefield of Evanston, Ill., and Robert Barefield of Western Springs, Ill.; his stepdaughter, Andrea Dixon of Dunnellon, Fla.; his stepson, Mark Baptist of St. Petersburg, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and six stepgrandchildren.

Barnum

GREENVILLE -- Funeral services for Leon Barnum Jr., 68, of Greenville will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, Greenville. He died Jan. 25, 2003, at Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville. Burial will be in Little Sister Cemetery, Avon, under the direction of Byas Funeral Home, Greenville.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy B. Barnum of Greenville; five sons, Willie Earl Baldwin, Leon Barnum III, Terry Barnum and Timothy Barnum, all of Greenville, and Craig Barnum of Hollandale; four daughters, Alice Goodman, Velma Barnum and Debra Barnum, all of Greenville, and Evonda Brown of Arlington, Texas; three sisters, Dorothy Mae Barnum, Irene Barnum and Hattie Pearl, all of Memphis; 35 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be today from 2 to 6 p.m. at Byas Funeral Home, Greenville.

The Rev. Dennis Hudson will officiate.

Cole

DREW -- Funeral services for Geneva Cole, 78, of Drew will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Second Baptist Church, Drew. She died Jan. 22, 2003, at Bolivar Medical Center, Cleveland. Burial will be in Drew Cemetery under the direction of Byas Funeral Home, Ruleville.

Survivors include one special niece and caretaker, Pearlie McClellan of Drew, and a host of other nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be today from 2 to 6 p.m. at Byas Funeral Home, Ruleville.

The Rev. Jesse Gresham will officiate.

Dixon

GREENVILLE -- Funeral Mass for Eugene Everett Dixon, 56, of Greenville, Juvenile Detention Center director of Washington County, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Greenville. He died of heart failure Jan. 30, 2003, at Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville. Burial will be in Greenville Cemetery under the direction of Boone-Wells Funeral Home, Greenville.

Mr. Dixon was a native of Vicksburg, Miss., where he graduated from Culkin Academy. He attended Hinds Community College and graduated from the Mississippi Police Academy and the Federal Bureau of Prison Training Academy in Georgia. He was employed with the Greenville Police Department for 22 years, retiring with the rank of captain in 1993. He became the director of Washington County Juvenile Detention Center, where he was employed until the time of his death. He was a good husband and father. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a member of Msgr. J.J. Igoe Assembly of 4th degree of the Knights of Columbus, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Policemen, and a member of NRA.

Survivors include his wife, Perlita Lee Dixon of Greenville; three daughters, Theresa Dixon of Norfolk, Va., and Michelle Dixon and Diana Dixon, both of Greenville; two sisters, Ruby D. Harris of Vicksburg and Janine D. Patten of Jonesville, La.; and one brother, Michael Rist of Yazoo City.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 7 p.m., with a Rosary at 7 p.m., at Boone-Wells Funeral Home, Greenville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph School Building Fund.

Eiland

INDIANOLA -- Funeral services for Otis Eiland, 79, of Indianola will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. James Church, Indianola. He died Jan. 26, 2003, at South Sunflower County Hospital, Indianola. Burial will be in Holly Ridge Cemetery, Holly Ridge, under the direction of Dillon Funeral Home, Indianola.

Mr. Eiland is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Eiland of Indianola; six daughters, Kathleen Eiland, Sandra Brewer, Sharon Pratt and Tonya Robinson, all of Indianola, Jacquiline Boone of Jackson and Linda Davis of Kenosha, Wis.; and one brother, Grove Eiland of Detroit.

Visitation will be today from 1 to 5 p.m. at Dillon Funeral Home, Indianola.

The Rev. Cedric Reed will officiate.

Gibson

HOLLANDALE -- Funeral services for Henry Clifton Gibson Sr., 72, of Hollandale will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Simmons High School, Hollandale. He died Jan. 26, 2003, at Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville. Burial will be in Carey Cemetery, Delta City, under the direction of Walker Funeral Home, Rolling Fork.

Survivors include his wife, Bertha Gibson of Delta City; five sons, the Rev. Don (Addie) Gibson of Little Rock, Ark., the Rev. Phil (Georgette) Gibson and Ray (Wendy) Gibson, both of Hollandale, the Rev. Glenn (Connie) Gibson of Charleston, S.C., and James (Earlia) Gibson of Delta City; six daughters, Virginia Thomas of Chicago, Teretha Gibson, Anita (Jimmy) Bel, and Bridget Gibson, all of Delta City, Mary (Ray) Duke of Anguilla and Martha (Robert) Page of Hollandale; three brothers, Benny Gibson and Wellington Gibson, both of Woodridge, Ill., and K.C. Gibson of Minneapolis; one sister, Shirley Ross of Woodridge, Ill.; and 20 grandchildren.

A wake will be today from 6 to 7 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, Rolling Fork. Special viewing will be Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the school.

Pastor George Bean will officiate.
