Gussie Martin
Gussie Martin, 99, of McComb, died April 2, 2009, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center, after a lengthy illness.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Craft Funeral Home in McComb. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Collins Grove Free Will Baptist Church, with Bishop Robert Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Summit.
Mrs. Martin was born May 30, 1909, in Summit. She was the daughter of Gus and Myra Conerly Crossley.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Collins Grove Free Will Baptist Church. She had been a member of Garfield Park Baptist Church in Chicago for many years.
Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jessie Martin; three daughters, one son, two sisters and three brothers.
Survivors include four daughters and two sons-in-law, Emogene Williams of Jackson, Ada Patterson of Milwaukee, Willena and Ed Jenkins of Summit, and Gussie and Hines Bennett of McComb; one son, George Martin of Chicago; four sisters, Helen Robinson of Summit, Jessie B. White and Eloise Sibley, both of McComb, and Rosa Crossley of Oakland, Calif.; 51 grandchildren, 102 great-grandchildren, 74 great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Ralph D. Craft
Ralph Douglas Craft, 75, of Sandy Hook, died April 7, 2009, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.
Services are 2 p.m. today at Carson Springs Baptist Church, with the Rev. Carl Dickens and the Rev. Blake McDaniel officiating. Burial is in Carson Springs Cemetery, under the direction of Hathorn Funeral Home of Columbia.
Mr. Craft was born Nov. 3, 1933, in Walthall County. He was the son of the late Wilson Craft and the late Cora Duncan Craft Fortenberry.
He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of Carson Springs Baptist Church and was an instructor at Sullivan Vo-Tech.
Survivors include his wife, Cecile Stringer Craft; three sons, Perry Craft of McHenry and Karl and Tim Craft, both of Sandy Hook; two sisters, Elaine Balance of Sandy Hook and Renae Lee of Picayune.
Rosalie M. Brown
Rosalie Ann Murphy Brown, 63, of Albany, La., died there April 8, 2009.
Visitation will be 6 to 9 tonight at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home west of Hammond, La., and 8 a.m. Saturday until services there at 10 a.m. President Raymond V. Burkart Jr., assisted by Bishop Spencer Hodgkin, will officiate. Special speaker will be Mrs. Brown’s brother, Conrad Murphy. Burial will be in Old Zion Hill Cemetery north of Albany.
Mrs. Brown was born March 13, 1946, in Albany. She was the daughter of Clarence Percy Murphy and Georgia Ann Stewart Murphy.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Jewel Stevens Chambers Murphy; and a brother, Wardell Heber Murphy.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Truette Brown of Albany; three sons, Kenneth Brown of Albany, Michael Brown and wife Shannan of Ponchatoula, La., and Clint Brown and wife Ashley of Watson, La.; six grandchildren, Bradley, Brandon, Meagan and Tyler Brown, all of Watson, and Abigail and Payton Brown of Ponchatoula; four brothers, Derald and Frank Murphy of Albany, Conrad Murphy of Loganville, Ga., and George Murphy of Dayton, Texas; and a brother-in-law, Donald Ray Brown of McComb.

Tony C. Jenkins Sr.
Tony Curtis Jenkins Sr., 51, of McComb, died April 9, 2009, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cook’s Enterprise Funeral Home in McComb, with family time there from 6 to 8 p.m. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary No. 1 Free Will Baptist Church, with Elder James Banks, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Pike Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Jenkins was born Sept. 21, 1957, in Pike County. He was the son of Ermatine B. Jenkins of McComb and the late T.R. “Bill” Jenkins.
He was a retired mechanic and was a member of St. Mary No. 1 Free Will Baptist Church, where he attended Sunday school and was a member of the junior choir as a child. He later joined the Inspirational Choir and the male chorus.
He graduated from McComb High School in 1976 and attended Southwest Mississippi Community College. He trained under and worked for Marsalis Auto and later became a self-employed auto mechanic. He was previously employed by Midar Bus as a driver and was requested by the young and old for any number of out-of-town trips.
Mr. Jenkins was preceded in death by his father; mother-in-law, Ruby Brister; and a grandson, Terrick Green Jr.
Survivors include his loving mother; his devoted wife of 27 years, Jacqueline Brister Jenkins of McComb; two daughters and a son-in-law, Latonya and Roderick Coney of LaPlace, La., and Deadra Jenkins of McComb; seven sons and two daughters-in-law, Terrick Green of LaPlace and Decory Woodall, Tony Curtis Jenkins Jr., Rodarrell and Kia Morris, Tecorrera and Toya White, Y’Kendrick Landrews and Jarrick Green, all of McComb; three sisters, Shirley Jenkins of McComb, Billye Nobles of Summit and Cathy Magee of Burlington, N.C.; a brother and sister-in-law, Henry “Pig” and Fumiko Williams of McComb; his father-in-law, Allen Brister and his wife JoJean; grandmother-in-law, Jessie Mason of McComb; two sisters-in-law, Susan and Delisa Brister, both of Long Beach, Calif.; three brothers-in-law, Stanley Brister and wife Alisha of Long Beach, Larry Magee of Bryan, Texas, and Mitchell Nobles of Summit; two special nieces, Donique Harris and husband Darrell and Laverne Nicole Magee; three nephews, Mitchell Nobles Jr. and wife Camita, Titus R. Jenkins and Quentin A. Nobles; a foster sister, Terrial Renee Brown; 26 grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
Chuck Letchworth
Chuck Letchworth, 55, of Silver Creek, died of a heart attack April 11, 2009, at Lawrence County Hospital in Monticello.
Visitation continues today at Hepzibah Baptist Church in Silver Creek until services at 2 p.m. Burial is in the church Cemetery, under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello.
Mr. Letchworth was born Nov. 24, 1953, in Mississippi. He was the son of the late William Conley Letchworth and the late Hazel Hedgepeth Letchworth.He was a fitter with Atlas Manufacturing in Monticello and was a member of Hepzibah Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie Oliver Letchworth of Silver Creek; a son, Dusty Letchworth of Denver; a daughter, Debra Alison Letchworth Price of Seminary; and a brother, Elton Letchworth of Silver Creek.
Chance W. Hughes
Chance William Hughes, infant son of David and Chris King Hughes of Summit, died April 11, 2009, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb.
Private family services will be held, with Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb in charge of arrangements.
Chance was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, J.W. King.
Survivors include his parents; paternal grandparents, Billie and Glenda Hughes of McComb; maternal grandmother, Barbara King of Bogue Chitto; two brothers, Ryan Daniels and Drake Hughes, both of Summit; two uncles, Daniel Hughes of McComb and Brad King of Bogue Chitto; and an aunt, Cassandra Rushing and husband Steve of Brookhaven.

Reuben A. Lee
Reuben A. Lee, 68, of Kentwood, La., died April 11, 2009, at his residence.
Services were 2 p.m. today at McKneely Funeral Home in Kentwood. Burial is in Centre Cemetery in Greensburg, La.
Mr. Lee was born Jan. 28, 1941, in Liverpool, La., to Hardy and Zylpha Allen Lee.
Mr. Lee was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, James N. Lee, Ray Lee and Luther Lee.

Lewis Max Lovett
Lewis Max Lovett, 66, of Meadville, died April 10, 2009, at Franklin County Hospital.
Visitation is 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bude First Baptist Church until services there at 7 p.m. The Rev. Brad Moak, the Rev. William Wright and the Rev. Alvie Ray Pernell will officiate. Burial will be in Midway Cemetery, under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville.
Mr. Lovett was born Sept. 23, 1942, in Jamestown, Ohio, to Ralph and Bertha Weaver Lovett.
He was retired and was a member of Bude First Baptist Church.
Mr. Lovett was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and two brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Bedford Lovett of Meadville; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Bessie Faye Lovett of Meadville; a daughter and son-in-law, Bashia and Chris Wilson of Meadville; a brother, Lee Lovett of Deforest, Wis.; two sisters, Ruth Gills of Jamestown and Helen Richards of Springfield, Ohio; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a special friend, the Rev. Alvie Ray Pernell.
Eva Gunnell
Eva “Shelby” Gunnell, 91, of Brookhaven, died there April 12, 2009, at New Dawn Retirement Center.
Services are 2 p.m. today at Harrigill Funeral Home in Brookhaven. The Rev. Charles Guy is officiating. Burial is in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Bogue Chitto.
Mrs. Gunnell was born Aug. 8, 1917, in Lawrence County, to William Joseph and Elizabeth Ard Lambert.
She was a graduate of Copiah-Lincoln Community College, a farmer and owner of Gunnell’s Grocery Store for 30 years and a member of Ruth Baptist Church.
Mrs. Gunnell was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Quitman Gunnell; seven brothers, Plez, Leon, Troy, Roy, Clell, Oscar and Ross Lambert; and four sisters, Lena Smith, Nonnie Peavey, Ruth Boone and Charlene Lambert.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Johnny Joe and Sue Gunnell of Brookhaven; a daughter and son-in-law, Dollie G. and Fred Brent of Bogue Chitto; four grandchildren, Joey Brent and wife Kathy of Southeast Asia, Shelley Johnston and husband Perry of Franklin, Tenn., Jeff Brent and wife Theresa of McComb, and Scott Gunnell and wife Anne of Moyock, N.C.; two step-grandchildren, Shirley Allen of Bogue Chitto and Steve Gunnell of Brookhaven; seven great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
