Barbara Ann Myers

Graveside services for Mrs. Barbara Ann Myers, 57, of Winona, formerly of Kosciusko, were to be held today (Thursday) at 10 a.m. at Parkway Cemetery.

Mrs. Myers, an employee of IMC Webb Graphics in Kosciusko, died Feb. 16, 2004 at her residence.

She is survived by two daughters, Darlene Overstreet and Charlene Palmertree, both of Winona; two sisters, Ruthie Childs of Black Hawk and Patsy Reaves of Dumas, Ark.; her mother, Evie M. Acy of Black Hawk; three grandchildren and one step grandchild.

Pallbearers were to be Lee Kendall, Terry Goodsin, Jym Jackson, Matt Jackson, Austin Edwards, Jim Buckley, Boyd Ramage and Buddy Ramage.

Rev. T.R. Darsey was to officiate with Oliver Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy P. Robertson

Services for Mrs. Dorothy P. Robertson, 76, of Sallis were held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Sallis Baptist Church with burial in Harmonia Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Robertson, a native of Los Angeles, Calif., died in an automobile accident Feb. 12, 2004 in Kosciusko. She was a member of Harmonia Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Robby Robertson of Sallis, Hubert Robertson of Newport; a daughter, Gloria Bordelon of Sallis; two granddaughters and one grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Robertson in 2001; a son, Bill Robertson in 1976; and a granddaughter, Courtney Bordelon in 1998.

Rev. Thomas Wicker and Rev. Joe Reynolds officiated with Southern Funeral Home of Durant in charge of arrangements..

Serving as pallbearers were Lane Jenkins, Randy Jenkins, Glenn Jenkins, James Jenkins, Mike Brewer and Earl Johnson.

Virgie Robinson

Services for Mrs. Virgie Robinson, 94, of East St. Louis, Mo., were held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Millspring Baptist Church in Weir with burial in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Robinson, a native of Choctaw County, died Feb. 7, 2004 at Belleville Memorial Hospital in East St. Louis. She was a member of Millspring Baptist Church.

She is survived by six daughters, Bernice Potts, Emma Robinson, Bobbie Robinson and Olena Jones all of East St. Louis, Alene Bryant of Dallas, Texas, and Bennie Mae of Mississippi; three sons, Jessie Miller of Weir, L.V. Miller and Frank Miller of East St. Louis; a brother, Ezell Fair of Weir; 29 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Rev. Coleman officiated with Winters Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Billy Potts Jr., Dr. Johnny Robinson, John Potts, Elvis Miller, Frank Miller Jr., Tyrone Miller and Robbie Carter.

Tamara Alston Triplett

Services for Mrs. Tamara Alston Triplett, 30, of Lithonia, Ga., were held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Multi-Cultural Center on Tipton St. in Kosciusko.

Mrs. Triplett, a Licensed Practical Nurse, died Feb. 7, 2004 at Dekalb Medical Center in Decatur, Ga. She was a native of Attala County and a member of New Birth M.B. Church in Decatur, Ga.

She is survived by her husband, Matthew Triplett of Lithonia, Ga.; her parents, Edward Alston and Brenda Alston of Ethel; a daughter, Xambia T. Triplett and a son, Xavier M. Triplett of Ethel; sisters, Kimberly Alston of Atlanta, Jasamine Alston of Ethel, Moteka Simmons, Georgina Merritt, Ebony Alston, Annie Jean Lee all of Kosciusko; brothers, Edward Barksdale of Knoxville, Tenn., and Russell Alston of Kosciusko.

Pastor Tony McBride officiated.

Burial was in New Bethel M.B. Church Cemetery directed by Myricks Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Brian Carr, Bennie Love, Mark Stewart, Myron Love, Rubin Fleming Jr. and Willie Barksdale.

Ira Veasy Sr.

Services for Ira Veasy Sr., 92, of McCool were held Feb. 11 at 1 p.m. at Winters Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Abraham Cemetery.

Veasy, a retired farmer, died Feb. 5, 2004 at his residence. He was a native of Attala County and a member of Abraham Chapel M.B. Church.

He is survived by his wife, Ora Veasy of McCool; five daughters, Daisye Veasy, Vera Veasy, Gloria Veasy, Betty Sherrod and Ellean Dalton all of Milwaukee; three sons, Ira Veasy Jr. of Clarksvile, Tenn., Stephenson Veasy of Augusta, Ga., William Veasy of Arlington, Texas; two sisters, Inez Bowie and Murvis Ferguson of Ethel; three brothers, W.B. Veasy, Hurvis Veasy of Milwaukee and Velma Veasy of McCool; 15 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren.

Rev. Clement Stewart officiated.

Pallbearers were Johnny D. Sherrod, Willis Jenkins, Odell McCain, Avery Dotson, Willie Jenkins, Brian Harris, Kenneth Burt, Charlie Burt, Bruce Burt, and Corey L. Powell.

T.J. Veasy

Services for T.J. Veasy, 39, of McCool were held Feb. 11 at 1 p.m. at Winters Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Abraham Cemetery.

Veasy, a factory worker, died Feb. 4, 2004 at his residence. He was a member of Abraham Chapel M.B. Church.

He is survived by his mother, Ora Veasy of McCool; five sisters, Daisy Veasy, Gloria Veasy, Vera Veasy, Betty Sherrod and Ellean Dalton all of Milwaukee; three brothers, Ira Veasy Jr. of Clarksville, Tenn., Stephenson Veasy of Augusta, Ga. and William Veasy of Arlington, Texas; number of nieces and nephews.

Rev. Clement Stewart officiated.

Serving as pallbearers were Johnny D. Sherrod, Willis Jenkins, Odell McCain, Avery Dotson, Brian Harris, Kenneth Burt, Charlie Burt, Bruce Burt, Corey L. Powell and Willie Jenkins.

Irving Wragg Jr.

Services for Irving Wragg Jr., 91, of Kosciusko were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Buffalo United Methodist Church with burial in Buffalo Cemetery.

Wragg, a retired teacher, died Feb. 11, 2004. He was a member of Buffalo United Methodist Church.

He is survived by a daughter, Bessell Redmond of Kosciusko; two sons, Hiram Wragg and Daniel Garland, both of Kosciusko; 11 grandchildren.

Rev. Leon Miller officiated.

Pallbearers were Thomas Lamb, Daniel Garland, Jerry Redmond Jr., Jerome Garland, Jerry Redmond and Christopher Nash.

Winters Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

William R. Brett

Services for William R. (Billy) Brett, 60 of Florence were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home. Burial was in Lakewood Memorial Park.

Brett, longtime construction owner and superintendent, died April 8, 2004 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Following four years in the U.S. Army stationed in Seattle, Wash., he moved to the Jackson area where he has resided since.

He is survived by his mother, Wardean Nance of Kosciusko; his wife, Linda White Brett of Florence; daughters, Tammy Terry of Brandon, Cheryl Brett, Laura Garcia, Rhonda Guadalupe, and a son. James Brett all of Longview, Wash.; step daughter, Tammy Howell of Jackson; 15 grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Ross of Kosciusko, Sammie Simmons of Southaven, Doreatha Brown, Romonia Arrington both of Jackson; brothers, Henry Brett of Goodman, Guy Nance of Yazoo City and a host of friends and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father, Luther Brett of Kosciusko; a son, Robert fields and a brother, Roger Nance.

Louise H. Burnley

Services for Mrs. Louise H. Burnley, 88, of Boonville, Ind., were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Koehler Funeral Home-Boonville Chapel. She died April 8, 2004 at Woodmont Health Campus in Boonville.

Officiating ministers were Dr. Charles C. Baxter Sr. and Dr. Charles C. Baxter Jr.

Burial was in the Sallis Cemetery Monday at 4:30 p.m. with Southern Funeral Home of Durant in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Burnley was a resident of Indianapolis, Ind., from 1954-1973 and was a member of the Franklin Road Baptist Church. She moved to Florida and then to Boonville in 1982 where she was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Ruth Bible Class and very active in the church.

She retired in 1973 from JC Penney as a sales clerk in the ladies ready to wear department.

She is survived by a son, Dr. John Michael Burnley of Boonville, who cared for her; two brothers, John Ike Hutchison of Sallis and A.T. Hutchison of Fairfield, Calif.; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, John M. Burnley in 2001, a son, William Floyd Burnley in 1981 and four brothers, George, Aldron, T.J. and Elihu Hutchison.

Memorials may be made to the Woodmont Health Campus Greenhouse Fund.
