Tommy Joe Branch
Tommy Joe Branch, 49, formerly of Holly Springs, died Aug. 23, 2006 at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn. He was a member of the Providence MB Church in Holly Springs. He worked all his life as a handyman doing odd jobs including land surveying, roofing and many other laborer skilled jobs.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Sept. 1 at Faith Fellowship C.O.G.I.C. in Memphis, Tenn. Burial was in Shelby County cemetery in Memphis, Tenn. Christian Funeral Services, Memphis, Tenn., was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Helen Branch; a brother, Willie Frank Branch of Helena, Ark.; a sister, Christine Branch of Helena, Ark.; and many other family members.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Leona Branch; three brothers, Albert Porter, Ozell Branch, James Branch; and two sisters, Lillian E. McClellan, Elizabeth Ann Branch.
Pallbearers were family and friends. Honorary pallbearers were Willie Frank Branch, Joel McClellan, George Branch, Willie Jones, Tony Shumpert and James Yancey.
John L. Elliott
John L. Elliott, 83, of Hickory Flat, died Sept. 9, 2006 at Baptist Memorial Hospital Union County in New Albany. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. He was employed with the US Forestry Service for 28 years in timber sales and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sept. 12 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Pine Grove cemetery in Hickory Flat. Bro. Clyde Thompson officiated.
He leaves his wife, Reba Jean Taylor Elliott of Hickory Flat; a son, Larry Glen Elliott of Hickory Flat; a daughter, Johnnie Louise Roberson of Ashland; a stepson, Charles Wayne West of Hickory Flat; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
James Malone
James Malone, 81, of Holly Springs, died Sept. 1, 2006 at Baptist Memorial Hospital North Miss. in Oxford. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, a chairman of the deacon board, former Justice Court Judge of Marshall County, a World War II veteran of the US Army, and a retired merchant with Malone and Sons Grocery Store.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Sept. 9 at New Hope MB Church in Laws Hill, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Ernest Jones officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Amanda Ella Ingram Malone; two daughters, Cheryl Washington of Memphis, Tenn., Sheila Malone of Houston, Tx.; four sons, Malcolm Malone of Holly Springs, Kenneth Malone, Kelsey Malone, both of Memphis, Tenn., Travis Malone of Jackson; a brother, Jerry Malone of Indianapolis, Ind.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Lawrence Malone and James Roland Malone.
Pallbearers were Michael Malone, John Malone, David Miller, Eisenhower Pryor, Essex Wilson and Ivory Kinard. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry D. Malone, J.R. Pryor, Levan Miller, Wilford Thompson, Lincoln Martin, Albert Lay Jr. and McEwen Walker.
John Aubry Mitchell
John Aubry Mitchell, 68, of Jackson, Miss., died Sept. 8, 2006 at the MS Baptist Medical Center. He graduated from Mississippi State University. He was a traveling salesman of college textbooks and also worked at Craft Office Supply and Specialty Roofing Company. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sept. 12 at Lakewood Funeral Home Chapel in Jackson. Burial was in Lakewood Memorial Park.
He leaves his wife of 24 years, Dona W. Mitchell; a son, John A. Mitchell Jr. of Baltimore, Md.; three daughters, Katherine Renee Chisolm of Brandon, Kathy Lynne Cate of Utica, and Sherry Cate Liston of Jackson; a brother, Donald Terry Mitchell of Victoria; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Brooks Mitchell.

Fred Taylor, 78, of Potts Camp, died Sept. 10, 2006 at his home. He was a member of Temperance Hill Baptist Church and a supervisor with Fruehauf Trailer Co.
Services were held at 4 p.m. on Sept. 13 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Temperance Hill cemetery. Bro. Malcolm Brock, Bro. Jason Howell, Bro. Stanley Huddleston and Bro. David Helmic officiated.
He leaves his wife of 55 years, Laverne B. Taylor; a son, Mark Taylor of Ripley; two daughters, Gail McCraw, Diane Clayton, both of Potts Camp; a brother, Russell Taylor of Holly Springs; three sisters, Ruby Carter of Holly Springs, Minnie Lindsey of Hickory Flat, Warene Floyd of New Albany; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Fred Allen Taylor.

Lajune Jeanett White, 71, of Potts Camp, died Sept. 9, 2006 at her home. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Holly Springs and worked in the church nursery, and she was a factory worker with The Wurlitzer Co.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 12 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest cemetery.
She leaves four sons, Bobby White, Olive Branch, Jerry White of San Antonio, Tx., David White of Cairo, Terry White of Grand Junction, Colo.; two daughters, Barbara Bradley, Delores Sullivan, both of Potts Camp; a brother, Emmett Holbrook of Holly Springs; two sisters, Bessie Smith of Cleveland, Nell Means of Puckett; 23 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sons, Eddie White and Wayne White; brothers, James Asa Holbrook, Jesse Holbrook, Fred Holbrook; and a sister, Annie Lou Hoffman.
Earline Faulkner Bell
Earline Faulkner Bell, 65, of Holly Springs, died April 30, 2005 at her home. She served on the usher board. She was retired from The Marshall County Hospital.
Services were held at 12 noon on April 30 at True Vine Baptist Church in Holly Springs, where she was a member. Burial was in Hopewell No. 2 cemetery in Hudsonville. Rev. Darrell Cunningham officiated. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves five daughters, Janice Faulkner, Sharon Faulkner, Kimberly Faulkner, Linda Bell and Shaquita Bell; two sons, David Bell, Jonathan Bell of Holly Springs; her mother, Thelma Jackson of Holly Springs; a sister, Doris Mallory of Holly Springs; 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Howard Maxwell Boone
Howard Maxwell Boone, 89, of Holly Springs, died April 30, 2005 at his home. He was the widower of Josie Irene Boone, a Baptist and a brick manufacturer with Holly Springs Brick & Tile.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on May 3 at Hill Crest cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves two daughters, Rita Ann Boone Sparks of New Site, Eva Kathryn Boone of Holly Springs; a brother, Robert Boone of Holly Springs; a sister, Evelyn Krag of Memphis, Tenn.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Loronda Gail Colston
Loronda Gail Colston, 51, of Hickory Flat, died April 27, 2005 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hickory Flat.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on April 29 at Faith Baptist Church. Burial was in Flat Rock cemetery. Bro. Larry D. West officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her husband, Robert E. Colston; a son, Robert Perry Colston of Hickory Flat; and her father, Oliver F. Staggs of Hickory Flat.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Doyle Staggs.
Pallbearers were Ricky Mullins, Nicky King, Corey Cook, Joey Watt, Keith Lowry, Sam Nutt. Honorary pallbearer was Glenn Cossitt.
Willa Aletha Floyd
Willa Aletha Floyd, 93, of Potts Camp, died April 25 in Ripley. She was the widow of Dallas Floyd. She was a retired postmaster and a member of Potts Camp Methodist Church.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on April 30 at United Funeral Service Chapel in New Albany. Burial was in Potts Camp cemetery. Rev. Paul Knight officiated.
She leaves her son, John Floyd of Bethesda, Md.; and three grandchildren.
John Allen Huey
John Allen Huey, 62, of Pontotoc, died April 25, 2005 at Pontotoc Hospital. He was a member of Fairview Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge. He was a restaurant owner and manager.
Services were held at Tutor Memorial Chapel. Burial was April 27 in Cruse cemetery in Pontotoc.
He leaves his wife, Clara (CJ) Huey of Pontotoc; four sons, Roger Huey, Barry Huey, Tracy Huey, all of Myrtle, Shawn Huey of Oxford; a stepson, Ronnie Tutor; two stepdaughters, DeeDee Gann, Trena Chunn; five brothers, David Huey of Tupelo, Keith Huey of Pontotoc, Hershell Huey of Olive Branch, Sam Huey of Red Banks, Milton Ray Huey of Waterford; two sisters, Brenda Berryhill of Ecru, Sheila Cothern of Mt. Pleasant; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brittany Huey, and a great-grandson, Landon Cy Huey.

Rev. Chester Pegues
Rev. Chester Pegues, 60, of Holly Springs, died April 28, 2005 at Alliance HealthCare System. He was a member of the Holly Springs Oxford CME District and Beverly Chapel CME Church, a Vietnam veteran, a member of the NAACP, American Legion Post 250, Masonic Lodge, and Ministerial Alliance. He served as pastor at Berry’s Chapel CME Church in Michigan City, Isaac Chapel CME Church and Nichols Chapel CME Church in Byhalia, Hebron Chapel CME Church in Holly Springs, New Hope CME Church in Red Banks, Jordan Chapel CME Church in Oxford, and Walton Chapel CME Church in Sardis. He was a retired owner of Pegues & Son Barber Shop in Holly Springs, and retired CME Church minister.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on May 1 at Anderson Chapel CME Church in Holly Springs. Burial was in Beverly Chapel CME Church cemetery. Bishop Thomas L. Hoyt Jr. officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Wanda Burton Pegues; two daughters, Kim Booker of Memphis, Tenn., Jolinea Pegues of Holly Springs; two sons, Johnatha LaShaun Pegues, Jansen Laron Pegues, both of Holly Springs; four sisters, Veronia Donals of Memphis, Tenn., Sweetie Dawkins of Holly Springs, Maxine Gwenn of Washington, DC, Patricia Pegues of Holly Springs; four brothers, James Pegues of Memphis, Tenn., Lang Pegues, Leon Pegues, both of Kansas City, Mo., Benel Pegues of Holly Springs; and one grandson.

Bennie Wade Pruitt II, 21, of Red Banks, died April 29, 2005 at his home. He was a stocker with Lowe’s.

Catherine Rayford Clark
Catherine Rayford, Clark, 88, of Byhalia, died Feb. 22, 2006 at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab in Holly Springs. She was the widow of Jimmy Clark and a former church usher.
Services were held at 12 noon on March 2 at Union Valley MB Church in Byhalia, where she was a member. Burial was in Strickland UM Church cemetery. Rev. Richmond officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves seven daughters, Sarah Guy of Southaven, Mary Davis, Ida Salter, Lutricia McCoy, all of Memphis, Tenn., Joyce Guy, Elaine Totten, Bettie Stewart, all of Holly Springs; three sons, E.T. Rayford, Leroy Clark, both of Byhalia, Leslie Clark of Waco, Tx.; a sister, Ola Mae Rayford of Byhalia; a brother, W.C. Rayford of Byhalia; 33 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
