Luanna Watson Campbell
Luanna Watson Campbell, 99, of Holly Springs, died Feb. 5, 2005 at her daughter’s home in Memphis, Tenn. She was the widow of Forest Campbell.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on February 12 at Kimbrough Chapel MB Church in Lamar, where she was a former member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Charles Dooley officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home in Holly Springs was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves three daughters, Dora Gulledge of Memphis, Tenn., Lizzie Bowen of Holly Springs, Ethel Lee Crisp of St. Louis, Mo.; four sons, Clayton Campbell, McArthur Campbell, Richard Campbell, all of Chicago, Ill., George Campbell of Holly Springs; 86 grandchildren, over 147 great-grandchildren, over 130 great-great-grandchildren and over 50 great-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sadie Campbell; six sons, Joseph Campbell, Forest Campbell Jr., Cornell Campbell, Walter Campbell, Raymond Clayton, Robert Campbell.

Pallbearers were Victor Campbell, James Edward Bowens, Steve Campbell, Tretrius Bowens, Will Campbell, Julius Campbell. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Phillips, Don Gulledge, Cory Campbell, Larry Wilson, Terry Bowens, Dextrick Campbell.

C.L. Driver
C.L. Driver, 72, of Chicago, Ill., died Feb. 2, 2005 at his home. He was an employee with the Santa Fe Railroad company, where he worked until retirement.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on Feb. 12 at Flint Hill MB Church in Etta, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Ray Hickinbottom officiated. Serenity Funeral Home Inc. of Oxford was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Gintie Driver; a daughter, Bertha Watts of Waltham, Ma.; six stepchildren, Patricia Brown, Carolyn Jackson, Therisas Sims, Samuel Jackson, Andre Jackson, Lewis Charles Jackson, all of Chicago, Ill.; three brothers, Joe Driver of Etta, Luther Driver of Riverdale, Ill., Nelson Driver of Chicago, Ill.; four sisters, Annie Lee Williams of Abbeville, Willie Pearl Owen of Oxford, Jettie B. Slate, Mattie McEwen of Etta; and two grandchildren.

Brianna Necole Jeffries
Brianna Necole Jeffries, 4 months, of Rienzi, died Feb. 12, 2005 at home.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on Feb. 15 at South Parkway Church of Christ. Burial was in Rienzi cemetery. Bro. Willie Bob Gates officiated. Grayson’s Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves her parents, Demarcus Lloyd and April Necole (Dilworth) Jeffries of Rienzi; grandparents, JoAnn Patterson of Ashland, Tarnt and Glenda Tye of Booneville; great-grandparents, Vernice Glover of Holly Springs, Vivian Dilworth of Booneville; great-great-grandparents, Roxie Jeffries of Booneville and Hullion Dilworth of Corinth.

Nannie Marie Jones
Nannie Marie Jones, 74, of Como, died Feb. 10, 2005 in Batesville. She was the widow of Eden B. Jones, a member of Harmontown Baptist Church and an employee with Wurlitzer.

Services were held 2 p.m. on Feb. 13 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Free Springs cemetery in Harmontown.

She leaves her son, Billy C. Jones of Como; two sisters, Minnie Rushing of Waterford, Jean Williams of Senatobia; and three grandchildren.Pearlie L. Phillips

Pearlie L. Phillips, 103, of Holly Springs, died Feb. 5, 2005 at Alliance HealthCare System in Holly Springs. She was a member of the Missionary Society, a member of Eastern Star St. Mary #82, a member of Federated Club, and a member of Marshall County Retired Teacher’s Association.

Services were held at 12 noon on Feb. 10 at Harris Chapel CME Church in Tate County, where she was a member. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden, Holly Springs. Rev. Mack Taylor officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home in Holly Springs was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves a niece who cared for her, Connie Falkner of Holly Springs; a nephew who cared for her, Madison Bowen of Memphis, Tenn.; six cousins who cared for her, Dorothy Anderson of Memphis, Tenn., Eloise Coon of Olive Branch, Frank Phillips of Holly Springs, Glennie Glass of Red Banks, Melvin Phillips of Aurora, Ill., Madie Logan of Wall Hill.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary E. Burton, Leonia Bowen; and a brother, Dan Conard.

Pallbearers were Gerald Falkner, Cedric Falkner, Tracy Falkner, John Bowen, Tony Liggins, Hershel Burton Jr., Joseph Benjamin Mosley. Honorary pallbearers were Bro. Fred Falkner, Bro. Charles Falkner, Bro. Willie Pryor, Bro. Hershel Burton Sr., Bro. Lee Soy Bowens, Bro. Madison Bowens.

Jerry Baker Sansone
Jerry Baker Sansone, 52, of Collierville, Tenn., died Feb. 10, 2005 at Methodist Central in Memphis, Tenn. She was a member of Collierville First Baptist Church, where she was active in the children’s ministry.

Graveside services were held at 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 12 at First Baptist Church in Collierville. Burial was in Magnolia cemetery in Collierville, Tenn. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves her husband, Mike Sansone; a son, Michael Sansone of Collierville, Tenn.; a daughter, Faith Seibels of Nashville, Tenn.; her mother, Roberta Baker of Memphis, Tenn. her brother, Jimmy Baker of Horn Lake, her sister, Susanna Baker of Cordova; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Fred Allen Taylor
Fred Allen Taylor, 54, of Holly Springs, died Feb. 1, 2005 at Germantown Methodist Hospital. He was a Baptist.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Feb. 4 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest cemetery. Bro. Frank Feathers and Bud McCraw officiated.

He leaves his wife, Martha Taylor of Red Banks; a son, Joey Deleo of Red Banks; his parents, Fred and Laverne Brisco Taylor; and two sisters, Gail McCraw, Diane Clayton, both of Potts Camp.

Pallbearers were Bubba Feathers, Kenneth Feathers, Tracy Tice, Bryan Drewery, Robert Shoffner, Monty Howell.

Frances Young
Frances Young, 70, of Byhalia, died Feb. 8, 2005 at home.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 11 at Brantley Funeral Home Chapel in Olive Branch. Burial was in Lebanon cemetery in Olive Branch.

She leaves her husband, Donald W. Young; three daughters, Deborah Street, Beverly Tamboli, both of Olive Branch, Shirley Grassie of Burlison, Tenn.; her mother, Fannie Elizabeth Hicks of Dover, Tenn.; three sisters, Sue Cutshall of Clarksville, Tenn., Brooxie O’Bryant of Seal Beach, Calif., Evelyn Link of Dover, Tenn.; a brother, Billy Hicks of Paris, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Cora Davis Aiken
Cora Davis Aiken, 93, of Byhalia, died Feb. 16, 2005 at Trinity Mission Health & Rehab of Holly Springs. She was the widow of Charlie Aiken.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on Feb. 19 at Mt. Sinai M.B. Church in Byhalia. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Wayne Aiken officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves a daughter, Stella Davis of Byhalia; two sons, Winford Aiken of Lansing, Mich., Henry Aiken of Byhalia; two sisters, M.T. Hilber of Memphis, Tenn., Catherine Jones of St. Louis, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Curtis Aiken, Richard Aiken, Atha Davis, Tyrone Aiken, Trent Aiken, Toney Davis.

James Keith Bing
James Keith (Cheetah) Bing, 32, of Waterford, died Feb. 18, 2005 at his home. He was a member of Holly Hill Baptist Church and a heating and air employee.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 21 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Mt. Moriah cemetery in Laws Hill. Bro. Frank Feathers officiated.

He leaves a son, John Keith Bing of Waterford; a daughter, Ashley Bing of Waterford; his parents, Billy and Sue Bing of Waterford; his grandmother, Christine Thomas of Waterford; and his brother, Billy Bing Jr. of Waterford.

Pallbearers were Shane Smith, David Minor, Mark Shaw, Gary Stacks, Dewayne Bing, Kevin Bing. Honorary pallbearers were Tim Shaw, Mickey Bing, Kevin Bing, Wade Yeager, Mark Bing, Allen Bing, Brian Bing.

Mae Dora Blackmon
Mae Dora Blackmon, 79, of Holly Springs, died Feb. 14, 2005 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Southaven. She was the widow of Cotterell Blackmon Jr.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on Feb. 19 at Chulahoma MB Church in Holly Springs. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rodgers Funeral Home in Coldwater was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves nine daughters, Vera D. Blackmon, Vera L. Bobo, both of Memphis, Tenn., Lula Wofford of Milwaukee, Wisc., Ivory Blackmon, Ruby Blackmon, Ethel Mosley, Joyce Blackmon, all of Holly Springs, Clara Jones of Olive Branch, Chenelle Blackmon of Byhalia; two sons, Clarence Blackmon, J.T. Blackmon, both of Holly Springs; 43 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Christine Burnett
Christine Burnett, 69, of Coldwater, died Feb. 14, 2005 at her home. She was the widow of Willie Burnett and a retired butcher.

Services were held at 12 p.m. on Feb. 19 at New Garden MB Church in Coldwater. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rodgers Funeral Home in Coldwater was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves five sons, Roger Brownlee of Memphis, Randy Brownlee of Sylvania, Ga., Spencer Burnett of Coldwater, Tony Burnett of Coldwater, Phillip Burnett of Coldwater; a brother, Willie Cathey of Memphis, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Eula Mae Hurdle
Eula Mae (Tump) Valentine Hurdle, 84, of Slayden, died Feb. 20, 2005 at Alliance HealthCare in Holly Springs. She was the widow of Leslie Byron (Tootsie) Hurdle Sr. She was a member of WMU.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on Feb. 23 at Slayden Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial was in Slayden cemetery. Dr. Bill Hardin, Bro. Armand Taylor, Rev. David Bishop and Dr. Lee Castle officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves three sons, Byron Hurdle Jr, Paul Hurdle, Alan Hurdle, all of Slayden; five daughters, Kathy Crawford of Slayden, Jennifer Campbell of Oxford, Dinah Kay Lundine of Slayden, Eydie Branyan of Waller, Tx., Beverly (Nubbie) Hurdle of Slayden; three sisters, Vera V. Hunsucker of Early Grove, Katherine V. Boling of Slayden, Yvonne V. Taylor of Slayden; 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were her granddaughters and in-laws.

Josephine E. Hurdle
Josephine Elizabeth Hurdle, 70, of Mt. Pleasant, died Feb. 16, 2005 at her home. She was a Baptist.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Feb. 19 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Carey Chapel cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.

She leaves her husband, Richard Hurdle; three sons, Arnold Edwards Sr., Kenneth Edwards, both of Bartlett, Tenn., Irby Jessie Hurdle III of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Joyce Mitchell of Ellijay, Ga.; two brothers, William Authur Houston of Southaven, Thomas Houston of Clarksdale; a sister, Mary Whitehead of Southaven; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Irene Edwards.

Louise Gooch King
Louise Gooch King, 97, of Holly Springs, died Feb. 15, 2005 at Graceland Care Center in Oxford. She was the widow of Dallas King. She was a nurse for 55 years, a lifetime member of the DAR, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and Eastern Star. A faithful member of the Potts Camp Baptist Church, she taught Sunday school for many years. After the death of her husband, she continued to maintain the museum they had built in Potts Camp that was dedicated to the memory of the men in the area who had died in service to their country.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Feb. 17 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Potts Camp cemetery. Bro. Charles Fowler and Bro. Jim Buchanan officiated.

She leaves a brother, William D. Gooch of Madison; and three sisters, Marjorie Gilmore of Oxford, Madge Burgess of Memphis, Tenn., Martha Gardner of Silver City.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Howard (Son) Gooch, Charles (Red) Gooch, James Gooch, Herman Cooper (Bo) Gooch, and a sister, Fannie Pearl Coleman.

Pallbearers were Edward Overall, Roger Clayton, Johnny Westmoreland, Lloyd Kelly, William Minor.
