John S. Shell, Jr.

Jan. 25, 1928 - July 27, 2003

NATCHEZ - Services for John S. Shell, Jr., 75, of Vidalia, LA, who died Sunday, July 27, 2003, at his residence, will be at 2 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with Father Paul Kunnumpurum officiating.

Burial will be in the Natchez City cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel.

Visitation is from 1 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Mr. Shell was born icon Jan. 25, 1928, in Natchez, the son of John Sullivan and Doris Prewitt Shell, Sr.

He was an U S Army Veteran of World War II. He retired from International Paper Company after 40 years of service. He was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and was an avid fisherman.

Mr. Shell was preceded in death by his father, John Sullivan Shell, Sr.

Survivors include his wife, Euna Mae Viccinelli Shell of Vidalia; sons, John Phillip Shell and his wife, Connie of Mt. Juliet, TN and Robert Sullivan Shell and his wife, Aggie of Collierville, TN; daughters, Marie Ann O'Neal and her husband, Mike of Vidalia and Wanda Elizabeth Sebille and her husband, Johnny of Vidalia; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; mother, Doris Hurst of Natchez; sister, Violet Nunnery and her husband, Alton of Natchez.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Kelly O'Neal, Sean O'Neal, Richard Shell, Kevin Shell, Jason Shell and Ryan Sebille.

Honorary pallbearers will be Edward Bringel, James Stigall, James Jones and Doy Hinson.

The family requests memorials be made to American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.

Robert Troy Williams

Dec. 25, 1980 - July 26, 2003

NATCHEZ - Services for Robert Troy Williams, 22, of Natchez, who died Saturday, July 26, 2003, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Basilica with the Rev. Alfred Camp officiating.

Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm. Monday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at St. Mary Basilica.

Mr. Williams was born icon Dec. 25, 1980, in Natchez, the son of Mark O'Beirne Williams and Connie Lynn Forman Williams.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, B.Z. Forman Jr.

Survivors include his parents; two sisters, Brandi Lynn Williams and Taylor Michelle Williams, both of Natchez; his maternal grandmother, Billie Jean Burnette Forman of Natchez; paternal grandparents, Melvin Eugene Williams Sr. and Mary O'Beirne Williams, both of Natchez; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Brian Hall, Richard Thompson, Justin May, Craig Cox, Jerry "J.B." Buckles and Chad Thomas. Honorary pallbearers will be Max Bourke, Josh Anderson and Rick Prescott.

Burial will be at Natchez City cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Dakota Cameron Brasher

NATCHEZ - Services for Dakota Cameron Brasher, 4, of Memphis, Tenn., who died Friday, July 25, 2003, at his residence, will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Memphis.

Survivors include his parents, Brian Brasher of Bartlett, Tenn., and Christina Brasher of Memphis; a brother, Chad Brasher of Memphis; and grandparents Dale and Linda Jamison of Vidalia, La., and Tommy and Mary Jane Brasher of Jordan, Ark.

Carmen Poole Huff Przybylski

May 19, 1909 - July 26, 2003

NATCHEZ - Services for Carmen Poole Huff Przybylski, 94, of Natchez, who died Saturday, July 26, 2003, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Laird Funeral Home South Chapel with the Rev. James E. Herndon officiating.

Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park cemetery under the direction of the funeral home.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 1 p.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Przybylski was born icon May 19, 1909, in Gloster, the daughter of Orlando Stanley Poole and James Zelma Anders Poole.

She retired as a housekeeper for the Mississippi State Hospital at Whitfield.

She was a lifelong member of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church in Gloster.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Purvis Huff Sr.; her second husband, Anthony Przybylski; and one infant grandson, Timothy Evans.

Survivors include three sons, Purvis Huff and his wife, Evelyn, both of Jackson, Cameron Huff and his wife, Polly, both of Natchez, and Dean Huff and his wife, Violet, both of Emporia, Va.; two daughters, Barbara Evans of Brandon and Carolene Brewer of Natchez; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Edna Robertson of McComb and Annie Laura Cassels and her husband, Bill, both of Natchez.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Ava Clydeene Lackey

Sept. 2, 1942 - July 24, 2003

NATCHEZ - Services for Ava Clydeene Lackey, 60, of Natchez, who died Thursday, July 24, 2003, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Jefferson Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. James E. Herndon officiating.

Burial and graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at MacPelah cemetery in Pascagoula under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel.

Mrs. Lackey was born icon Sept. 2, 1942, in Moss Point, the daughter of Arthur W. and Marabell Arnold Lassiter.

She resided in Natchez for the last 55 years. She was a co-owner of Southern Traditions Gift Shop at the Natchez Depot. Mrs. Lackey was a member of Jefferson Street United Methodist Church. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt. She will be missed by her friends, family and extended family at Southern Traditions.

Mrs. Lackey was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include a son, Scott Patton; daughter-in-law, Linda Patton; grandchildren, Eric and Kayla Patton, all of Natchez; two stepsons, Rusty Lackey and Todd Lackey of Natchez; sister and brother-in-law, Eileene and John McRae, M.D. of Hattiesburg; two nephews, Travis Bedwell of Columbus, OH, Matthew Bedwell and his family, Steffany, Alex and Andrew of Brandon; and a number of cousins and an aunt.

Pallbearers will be Travis Bedwell, Matthew Bedwell, Bruce Lewis, Hal Hicks, Billy Key Smith, Jamie Bedson, Andy Burns and Drew Burns.

Honorary pallbearer will be Jerry McCollum.

Byrline Elizabeth Klar

Aug. 27, 1931 - July 21, 2003

NATCHEZ - Services for Byrline Elizabeth Klar, 71, of Natchez, who died Monday, July 21, 2003, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, will be at 10 a.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with Dr. Judson W. Hurt officiating.

Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Mrs. Klar was born icon Aug. 27, 1931, in Lawrence County, the daughter of Grover Cleveland and Rosa Lee Barnette Ballard.

She was a member of Natchez First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, F.C. Klar of Natchez; a son, Dwight Swain of Natchez; daughter, Deborah Ratcliff of Natchez; granddaughter, Tanya Unger of Alburquerque, NM; grandson, Martin Ratcliff of Natchez; great-grandson, Jacob of New Mexico; sisters, Bernice Jenkins of Sun, LA and Bessie Kyzar of Ruth; brother, Chester Ballard of Ferriday, LA; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Bill Murray, Joe Murray, Gary Ballard, John M. Brown and Charles Kees.

Bennie Jones, Sr.

Oct. 10, 1930 - July 23, 2003

HARRISTON - Services for Bennie Jones, Sr., 72, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Green Leaf Baptist Church with the Rev. Percy Turner officiating.

Burial will be in the Green Leaf cemetery in Harriston under the direction of Curtis Funeral System, Inc.

Visitation is from 3 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mr. Jones was born icon Oct. 10, 1930, in Jefferson County, the son of A. D. Jones and Effie Land Jones.

He was retired from International Paper Company of Natchez and was a member, deacon and choir member of Green Leaf Baptist Church.

Survivors include a devoted wife, Mildred B. Jones of Natchez; one son, Bennie Jones, Jr. and his wife, Tommie C. Jones of Natchez; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one special nephew (like a son), Kennith Ray Walker of Natchez; one god-child, Courtney K. Walker of Natchez; one adopted brother (nephew), Morris G. Jones of Gulfport; one brother-in-law, Lamar A. Braxton and his wife, Lee Ethel Braxton of Natchez; five sisters-in-law, Virginia Robinson, Juanita (Monroe) Jenkins and Wilhelmenia Braxton of Red Lick, Ruby L. Jones of Fayette and Mary A. Jones of Natchez; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be members of Green Leaf and Mount Olive Baptist Churches.

Elnora "Katie" Wells

Sept. 8, 1919 - July 19, 2003

NATCHEZ - Services for Elnora "Katie" Wells, 83, of Natchez, who died Saturday, July 19, 2003, in Dallas, TX, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Antioch Baptist Church with Pastor Samuel Hines officiating.

Burial will be in Skinner cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Wells was born icon Sept. 8, 1919, in Adams County, the daughter of Herbert and Mariah Wells.

He was a Baptist and past president of the usher board at Antioch Baptist Church.

Survivors include a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Richard Edward "Shack" Bruster

Feb. 22, 1948 - July 19, 2003

NATCHEZ - Services for Richard Edward "Shack" Bruster, 55, of Minneapolis, MN, who died Saturday, July 19, 2003, at Walker Methodist Health Center in Minneapolis, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Chapel A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Arthur Brown officiating.

Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Mr. Bruster was born icon Feb. 22, 1948, in Adams County, the son of Elmo Stewart and Annie Lee Stewart.

He was educated at Sadie V. Thompson High School, was a former employee of FMC for 16 years and was employed by Smuarit Stone Container as a utility clerk. He was a Methodist, a member of I.B.P.O. Elk of the World and Acme Lodge No. 106 for 15 years.

Mr. Bruster was preceded in death by one brother, Henry Lee "Beady Chick" Stewart and grandmother, Luella Bruster.

Survivors include his mother, Annie Lee Stewart; five brothers, Elmo Stewart, Oliver Stewart and Mannie Stewart, all of Natchez, Leo Stewart of Dallas, TX and Charles Johnson, Jr. of Jackson; three sisters, Brenda Stewart, Leminda Pierre of Natchez and Terry Washington of Minneapolis; a dear friend, Margaret Jackson of Minneapolis; two daughters, Sharon Hawkins of Vidalia, LA and Latresha Goodwin of Augusta, GA; two grandchildren, Kenneth Warner and Jessica Warner of Vidalia; four step-children of Minneapolis; 20 step-grandchildren of Minneapolis; one aunt, Celia Coulston; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Willie West, Paul Hardin, Louis James, Albert Johnson, Willard Madison and Sherman Dotson.

Samuel "June" Jones, Jr.>/b>

Sept. 2, 1943 - July 21, 2003

NATCHEZ - Services for Samuel "June" Jones, Jr., 59, of Tchula formerly of Natchez, who died Monday, July 21, 2003, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at S.V. Marshall High School in Tchula. The procession will leave 1414 Watkins Street at 7:30 a.m. going to Tchula.

Services will also be at 2 p.m. Sunday at China Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnnie Hollins officiating.

Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday, LA.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Webb Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Jones was born icon Sept. 2, 1943, in Sebring, FL, the son of Samuel Jones, Sr. and Sisley Robinson Jones.

He was a special education teacher for S.V. Marshall High School (Holmes County School District) in Tchula, was a member and deacon at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Tchula and served in the US Army. He was a 1961 graduate of Sadie V. Thompson High School, Piney Wood Training Academy and Jackson State University where he received his master's degree in Special Education and Child Development.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his mother and one nephew, Adrian Robinson.

Survivors include his father, Samuel Jones, Sr.; two daughters, Lucy Johnson of Natchez and Lisa Elmore of Minneapolis, MN; four brothers, Richard Robinson and his wife, Sharon of Jackson, Lester Jones and his wife, Susie of Tupelo, Gene A. Jones and his wife, Denise and Rogers E. Jones, all of Natchez; one sister, Christella Williams and her husband, Harvey of Bronx, NY; six grandchildren, Jonathan and Jeremy Elmore of Minneapolis, Cedrick Johnson, LaToya Johnson, Jennifer Johnson and Melissa Anderson, all of Natchez; two great-grandchildren; three aunts, Virginia Franklin of Natchez, Mattie Perkins of Los Angeles, CA and Estelle Perkins of Woodville; four nieces, Gwendolyn McNeal and her husband, John and Jacqueline Brown of Jackson, Chris Riley and LaToya Burden of Vidalia, LA; nine nephews, Robert Robinson and his wife, Faye, Dexter Robinson and Michael Robinson and his wife, Carolyn, all of Jackson, Fredrick Robinson and his wife, Wanda of Texas City, TX, Lester and Larry Smith of Atlanta, GA, Justin Chennay of Tupelo, Avery and Gene A.
