NATCHEZ - Services for Henry Williams, 83, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, July 8, 2003, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Greater St. James Baptist Church with the Rev. James Brooks officiating.
Burial will be in the Natchez National cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 5:30 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the church.
Mr. Williams was born
June 28, 1920, in Adams County, the son of Leroy Williams and Annie Williams.
He was educated in the Natchez Public School System, was a retired truck driver for the City of Natchez and was a Sunday School Superintendent. He was also a choir member and deacon.
Survivors include his mother, Annie Williams of Natchez; his wife, Daisy M. Williams of Natchez; one daughter, Josephine Ross of New Orleans, La.; one son, Sgt. David Lee Morrison of Natchez; two brothers, Leroy Williams Jr. and Pearlie J. Williams, both of Nachez; two aunts, Mattie Luss and Hattie Williams, both of Natchez; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be James Washington, Randy Morrison, Fleming Williams, Elbert Lyles, Demestra Winding, Sr. and Leroy Williams, III.

NATCHEZ - Services for Andrew L. Chatman, 83, of Natchez, who died Saturday, July 5, 2003, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grove A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Lloyd Bailey officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Chatman was born
Feb. 11, 1920, in Adams County, the son of Willie and Amanda Chatman.
He was educated at Brumfield High School, was retired from Universal Foods/Morton Salt of Chicago, Ill. and was a member of Grove A.M.E. Church.
Survivors include caregiver and niece, Ann Chatman Cobb; one sister-in-law, Mamie Chatman; and a number of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Ms. Brooks was born
Dec. 21, 1954, in Natchez, the daughter of the late Rev. C.J. Brooks and Mabel Brooks.
She was educated at North Natchez High School and Alcorn State University and was employed with the Natchez Adams County School District. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, the Junior Church Deaconess and Sunday School Secretary.
Survivors include one daughter, Joycelynn Greateal Brooks of Natchez; her mother, Mabel Brooks of Natchez; one sister, Greateal Brooks-Green and her husband, Julius of Port Gibson; two brothers, Daniel Brooks of Natchez and Curtis L. Brooks and his wife, Ethel of San Francisco, Calif.
Pallbearers will be Henry Brooks, George Brooks Jr., Marcell Brooks, Issac King, Charles E. Brooks, Marcel Smith, Kevin Smith and Fredrick Williams.
Lucille England Howell

FRANKLIN COUNTY - Services for Lucille England Howell, 87, of Brookhaven, who died Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at Beverly Healthcare in Brookhaven, will be at 2 p.m. today at New Salem Baptist Church.
Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Lynn Howell of McCall Creek and Billy Simmons of Grenada; two daughters, Frankie Applewhite and Catheryn Magee of McCall Creek; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. - Services for Robert I. Kerkhoff, 93, of Daytona Beach, Fla., who died Monday, July 7, 2003, will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Burial will be in Edgewater-New Smyrna cemetery in Edgewater, Fla. under the direction of Settle-Wilder Funeral Home of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.
Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m. with a wake service at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
born in Lafayette, Ind., Mr. Kerkhoff moved to Florida in 1980 from Natchez. He graduated from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind. with Bachelors Degrees in both Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. A lieutenant in the United States Navy during World War II, he was a radar officer at the Daytona Beach Naval Air Station. Mr. Kerkhoff worked over 40 years with Johns-Manville Corporation and retired as plant manager in Natchez, where he was president of the Natchez Rotary Club, vice president of the Natchez Chamber of Commerce and was active with the American Red Cross. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Smyrna Beach, Fla., where he and his wife, Nell were married
Feb. 11, 1946. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. His family loved him and will miss him.
Survivors include his wife, Nell of Daytona Beach; three daughters, Jonell Kerkhoff Dando and her husband, Ncal, both of Pittsburgh, Pa., Sharon H. Morris and her husband, James, both of South Lake, Texas and Barbara K. Semple and her husband, Scott, both of Germantown, Md.; six grandchildren, Kerrick and Adam Dando of Pittsburgh, Bryan and Scan Morris of South Lake and Laura and Kelley Semple of Germantown.

Ann Ewing Martin
June 20, 1934 - July 8, 2003
MORGANTON, N.C. - Memorial services for Ann Ewing Martin, 69, of West Union Street, Morganton, N.C., who went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 8, 2003, at her residence following a battle with lung cancer, will be at 4 p.m. Friday at North Morganton United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Woods and the Rev. Andrea Smith officiating.
Inurnment of the ashes will follow in the Memorial Garden of the church with Sossoman Funeral Home of Morganton assisting the family.
The family will receive friends following the services in the church fellowship hall.
Mrs. Ewing was born
June 20, 1934, in Harriston, the daughter of the late Samuel F. Ewing and Mary Ann Shaw Ewing.
In 1984, Ann and her family established Martin Family Ford on Jamestown Road. She was a member of North Morganton United Methodist Church. Ann, also known as Mimi, was most proud of her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Ewing was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Martin and her brothers, Samuel Albany Ewing and Samuel F. Ewing, III.
Survivors include one son, Michael Martin and his wife, Lynne of Morganton; two daughters, Melissa Martin Wright and her husband, J. Morgan of Apopka, Fla. and Daphne Martin Buchanan and her husband, Randall of Morganton; five grandchildren, Danielle Martin, Corey Warren and Trevor, Kristan and Samuel Buchanan; nephew, Sam F. Ewing; nieces, Debbie Ewing and Eunice Neal; and a live-in niece, Ashley A. Martin.

Mr. Harris was born
Aug. 9, 1951, in Jefferson County, the son of Lamon Ellis and Ivera Harris Lewis.
He worked as a laborer with the Corps of Engineers and was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.
Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Roxie Martin Harris of Fayette; grandmother, Katherine Carter of Fayette; six sons, Frank Eric Bradley, Frank James Harris, Jr., Travis Harris, Troy Harris, Jeffery Martin and his wife, Georgia and Maurice Taylor, all of Fayette; one daughter, Kimberly Martin of Fayette; four brothers, Jessie Harris of Rancho Cordova, Calif., Calvin Lewis, Kenny Ray Lewis and Tony Lewis, all of Fayette; five sisters, Barbara Minor of Natchez, Catherine Lewis, Sharon Harris and Ledon Harris, Fayette and Carolyn Walker of Rialto, Calif.; three great-uncles, Levi Harris, Sr., Albert Johnson and Henry Harris, all of Fayette; three aunts, Sarah Louiza Harris of Fayette, Christine Harris of Florida and Molly Catching of Brookhaven; one great-aunt, Regina Mayes of St. Louis, Mo.; one granddaughter; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Robert Hulon Scates

RIPLEY, Tenn. - Services for Robert Hulon Scates, 92, of Ridgely, Tenn. formerly of Henning, Tenn., who died Saturday, July 5, 2003, at V.A. Medial Center in Memphis, was held at 11 a.m. July 7 at Garner Funeral Home.
Burial was in NewHaven cemetery in Ridgely under the direction of Garner Funeral Home.
Mr. Scates was born
Nov. 10, 1910, in McKenzie, Tenn., the son of Fountain Hampton Scates and Minnie Mae Crews.
He was a retired Henning postmaster, was a World War II veteran serving in the Navy and was the Mayor of Henning for 4 terms. He was Henning alderman for 7 years, was Lauderdale County Commissioner for 12 years and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Ridgely. Mr. Scates was made TN Colonel by Gov. Ned McWherter.
Mr. Scates was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Nelle Hoppers Scates; one daughter, Betty Blythe Feltus and her husband, Charles, both of Ridgely and Natchez; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Hazel Ridgeway Irby

TONKAWA, Okla. - Services for Hazel Ridgeway (Mitchell) Irby, 92, of Tonkawa, who died Friday, July 5, 2003, at her daughter's residence in Vidalia, La., will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tonkawa United Methodist Church with the Revs. Lyle Mitchell and Mike Brannon officiating.
Burial will be at the Blackwell, Okla., cemetery under the direction of Anderson's Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Mrs. Irby was born
Sept. 27, 1910, in Eddy, Okla., the daughter of Clarence Ridgeway and Ida High Ridgeway. She married
Chester Mitchell on Sept. 29, 1928, and they lived in Blackwell until Mr. Mitchell passed away in 1960. She married
Lloyd Irby in 1964 and moved back to Tonkawa. Mrs. Irby was a longtime member of Tonkawa United Methodist Church and was until her later years active in the Tonkawa United Methodist Women.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands a grandson, Monte Dean Mitchell; two infant Mitchell grandchildren; one infant Archer grandchild; and two sisters, Ora Mae Ridgeway and Dora Faye Ridgeway Harris.
Survivors include two children, Lowell C. Mitchell of Tonkawa and Marilyn M. Archer of Vidalia; five grandchildren, Mike Mitchell, Brad Mitchell, Mitch Archer, Marc Archer and Jennifer A. Williams; eight great-grandchildren, Marcus Archer Jr., Mallory Archer, Abby Archer, Alex Archer, Jimmy Williams Jr., Jenny Jo Williams, Cameron Mitchell and Samuel Mitchell; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Mike Mitchell, Brad Mitchell, Mitch Archer, Marc Archer, Marcus Archer Jr. and Jay Struckle.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wes Barney, Durward Rosebery and Leroy Harris.
