NATCHEZ - Services for Dora Eveline Hammack, 71, of Roxie, who died Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at McNeely Road Church of God with Pastor Paul Hayes officiating.

Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Mrs. Hammack's residence.

Mrs. Hammack was born icon Nov. 9, 1932, in Franklin County, the daughter of James Henry and Nettie Jane Terrell Cater.

Survivors include son, Marvin Hammack of Natchez; daughters, Jane McCord and Margaret Tiedke of Glide, OR and Kathy Hammack of Roxie; grandchildren, Amber Hopson, John Hutton, Andy Hutton, Travis Holly, Jessica McCord and Darby McCord; three great-grandchildren; brothers, James Cater, Ed Cater, Elmer Cater, Pedro Cater and Howard Cater, all of Natchez; sisters, Lucille Littleton of Natchez, Jo Havard of Roxie and Ann Willard of Evanston, WY.

Gladys Elaine Johnson

Dec. 28, 1924 - Jan. 22, 2004

CENTREVILLE - Graveside services for Gladys Elaine Johnson, 79, of Centreville, who died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, at Field Memorial Hospital in Centreville, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Oaklawn cemetery in Centreville with the Rev. Ray Branch officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Brown Funeral Home of Gloster.

Mrs. Johnson was born icon Dec. 28, 1924, in Amite County, the daughter of George Hartford Welch and Gladys Forman Welch.

She was a retired bookkeeper and a member of Woodville United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Woodrow W. Johnson; two brothers, Bobby Lynn Welch and Guy Wren Welch.

Survivors include one son, Michael Dean Johnson and Carol of Santa Fe, NM; one daughter, Teresa Moore and T. Delton of Woodville; two grandchildren, T. Delton Moore, III of Woodville and Elizabeth Dearing Moore McKlemurry and Chris of Starkville.

Richard C. Talbert

PERRYVILLE, MO - Services for Richard C. Talbert of Perryville, MO formerly of Natchez, who died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004, were held at 11 a.m. Jan. 22 at Young & Sons Chapel.

Burial was in Mt. Hope in Perryville under the direction of Young & Sons Funeral Home of Perryville.

Survivors include his wife, Deanna (Wibbenmeyer) Talbert; children, Jamie, Marissa, John (JC) and Gina, all of Perryville; son of Ruben Talbert of Vidalia, LA and Dirse Waldrep of Denham Springs, LA; brother of Sandra Eeling of Vidalia, Don Whitten of Omaha, AR, Charles Whitten of Greenwell Springs, LA and Bill Talbert of Vicksburg.

Anna Mary Clark

July 17, 1935 - Jan. 16, 2004

WOODVILLE - Services for Anna Mary Clark, 68, of Woodville, who died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Morning Star Baptist Church in Woodville with the Rev. Joe Gibson officiating.

Burial will be in Cedar Rest No. 2 cemetery in Woodville under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday, LA.

Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Shiloh Baptist Church in Woodville.

Mrs. Clark was born icon July 17, 1935, in Woodville, the daughter of Leonard and Mariah Fountain Mattyre.

She was a medicaid patient driver and a Baptist.

Mrs. Clark was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Debra Clark; one sister, Emmerline Mattyre; one niece, Beatrice Chambers.

Survivors include her husband, Hampton Clark, Jr. of Woodville; six sons, Robert Clark, Eddie Clark, Hampton Clark, III and Wettlin Treppendahl, all of Woodville, James Mattyre of Houston, TX and Leonard Clark of New Orleans, LA; six daughters, Lucy Dunbar and Francis Clark of New Orleans, Ginger Bruton of Conyers, GA, Rosa Clark of Woodville, Janet Holt and Lynn McArthur of Jackson; four sisters, Martha Slan of Natchez, Florence Mattyre of Centreville, Alberta Mattyre of Woodville and Atlena Redman of New York, NY; 32 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Annie A. Stewman Mars

WOODVILLE - Services for Annie "Big Annie" A. Stewman Mars, 69, who died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke Baptist Church No. 1 in Woodville.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Davis Mortuary Service of Gretna, LA.

Visitation is from 12:30 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

She was a native of Woodville and a resident of New Orleans, LA, for the past 42 years.

Mrs. Mars was the wife of the late Rev. Ervin E. Mars, Sr.; mother of Ervin, Jr., Tracey and Terry Mars and the late Glenn Mars; daughter of the late Brist and Susie Stewman; sister of James, Sr., Paul, Eugene and Albert Stewman, Mary Mitchell and the late Leon Stewman, Sr.; mother-in-law of Faye and Loretta Mars; sister-in-law of Octavia, Margie and Vera Stewman; devoted and special friends, Johnny Dennis and family; also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.

David Green, Sr.

DALLAS, TX - Services for David Green, Sr., 63, who died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004, in Dallas, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church under the direction of Sandra Clark Funeral Home.

Mr. Green was born icon April 11, 1940, in Natchez, the son of George Green, Jr. and Licinda Dunbar-Green.

Mr. Green was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Lee Green, Sr.

Survivors include his wife, Lizzie Marie Green; daughter, Pansy Austin; son, David Green, Jr.; six brothers and six sisters; and a number of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Thomas Gooseberry

SELMA - Services for Thomas Gooseberry, 74, who died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, at his residence, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary Baptist Church in Selma with the Rev. Joseph Gibson officiating.

Burial will be in Winston cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral System.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from noon until service time Saturday at the church.

He was retired from Johns Manville.

Mr. Gooseberry was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Survivors include one brother, George (Helen) Gooseberry of Natchez; four sisters, Emma R. Vinson of Memphis, TN, Sylvia (Ceaser) Washington, Thelma (Ollie) Ransom and Katie R. Thomas, all of Natchez; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be his nephews.

Helen Barksdale

Funeral arrangements for Helen Barksdale, 88, of Lakewood, WA formerly of Vidalia, LA, who died Monday, Jan. 19, 2004, in Lakewood, WA, are incomplete at Concordia Funeral Home.

Alonzo Tucker Williams, Jr.

NATCHEZ - Services for Alonzo Tucker Williams, Jr. 78, of Picayune, MS, who died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, at Veterans Administrative Hospital in Biloxi, MS, will be at 11 a.m. today at Natchez National cemetery with Dr. Judson W. Hurt officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel.

Mr. Williams was born icon Aug. 28, 1925, in Natchez, the son of Alonzo Tucker Williams, Sr. and Minnie Judge Williams. He was a 1942 graduate of Natchez High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the USS Tracy DM19. He was a disabled veteran.

Survivors include his two brothers, James Turner Williams, of Meridan, MS and Harry E. Williams, of Middletown, PA; one sister, Mattie Sarah Williams Trevino, of Fort Smith, AR; Numerous nieces and nephews.

Annie McCullum

Sept. 24, 1919 - Jan. 14, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Annie McCullum, 84, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, were at noon Tuesday, January 20 at George F. West Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Freddie Parker officiating.

Burial was at Watkins cemetery under the directions of George F. West Funeral Home.

Miss McCullum was born icon Sept. 24, 1919, in Adams County, the daughter of Dave McCullum and Maude Rucker.

She was a member of Murray's Temple Church.

Survivors include four nieces, Catherine Daniel, Joyce (Curtis) Reeves, Linda Thomas, Alice Jackson, of Milwaukee, WI; two nephews, Ruffus Thomas, Jr. and Wesley Thomas; one brother-in-law, Ruffus Thomas, Sr.; one sister-in-law, Kathryn A. Wells of Natchez; a friend and caregiver, Willie L. Russell; friend, Josephine White; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

George "Billy" Dooley, Sr.

WOODVILLE - George "Billy" Dooley, Sr. a native and resident of Woodville, MS died at 1:15 p.m., Monday, January 19, 2004 at Baton Rouge General Medical Center - Bluebonnet at the age of 81. He was an Army Veteran of WWII having served in the Battle of the Bulge.

A memorial service will be held at Woodville Baptist Church in Woodville, Mississippi at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004.

He is survived by his wife, Genevieve Dooley of Woodville, MS; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanette D. and Joseph S. Brendler, Jr. of Houma, LA, Kathy Dooley and Patrick Crawford of Chalmette, LA; four sons and daughters-in-law, George, Jr. and Wilma H. Dooley of Baton Rouge, Herbert L. Dooley of Woodville, MS, Rickey J. Dooley of Woodville, MS, and Warren P. and Bonnie Dooley of Woodville, MS; and many nieces, nephews, and friends; thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. and Lillian H. Dooley; three sisters; and two brothers.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9956.

Rose Elizabeth Taylor Damare'

SOUTHAVEN, MS - Services for Rose Elizabeth Taylor Damare', 85, of Southaven, MS, who died Monday, Jan. 19, 2004, at Desoto Health Care, will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, January 22 at St. Mary's Cathedral in Natchez with Father James O'Connor officiating.

Burial will be at the Laird's cemetery in Natchez under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home.

There will be no visitation.

Mrs. Damare' was born icon March 26, 1918, in Meridian. She was a retired bank teller.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Rene' Damare'; and son, John David Damare'.

Survivors include a daughter, Rosann Damare' Beach of Tunica, MS ; a son, William Joseph Damare' of Hernando, MS; a sister, Dorothy T. Railey of Shreveport, LA; a brother, Ed Taylor of Baton Rouge, LA; five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
