Joe Willie Franklin

July 20, 1954 - Jan. 9, 2004

LORMAN - Services for Joe Willie Franklin, 48, of Lorman, who died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, at his residence, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Rose Hill Christian Church in Lorman with the Rev. Melvin White officiating.

Burial will be in East Mount Olive Baptist Church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and from noon until service time Saturday at the church.

Mr. Franklin was born icon July 20, 1954, the son of Annie Mae Wells-Franklin

He was third born icon of nine siblings. He brought up in the Jessamine Baptist Church but strayed away and later in life found his way and rejoined. Joe Willie worked several skilled labor jobs throughout Mississippi. He worked at Grand Gulf Nuclear Plant, G.B. Boots and Smith Corporation Highway Construction. He also worked as a community helper.

Mr. Franklin was preceded in death by his father, Joe Frankline and one daughter, LaShonda.

Survivors include his darling mother, Annie Mae Franklin; four sons, Tyrone Polk (Gloria) of Vicksburg, Dekota Barnes of Tomball, TX, Renard and Benard Thompson of Lorman; one daughter, Tammie Franklin (Tyrone) of Vicksburg; three grandchildren, Dakari Polk of Portland, OR, Tyriq Franklin of Vicksburg, Angelique' Jackson of Lorman; five sisters, Mary Alice Green (Louis Sr.), Lynda Franklin-Smith, Sandra Clark (James), Bertha Franklin and Samantha Jackson (Robert); three brothers, Robert Franklin (Peggy) of Kansas City, MO, Carl Franklin of Natchez and Larry Franklin (Carolyn) of Chicago, IL; four aunts, Nancy Bailey, Mary Bingham, Mable Hudson and Mary Gaines; five uncles, Alphonso Wells (Lavern), Curtis Wells (Cathy), James Wells (Deloris), Roger Franklin and Tyke Franklin; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including special friend, Evelyn Thomas.

Pallbearers will be Carl Belle, Garrett Bell, Michael Brown, Tony Brown, Albert Coleman, Louis Green, Jr. and Tommy Wilson.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Clark, Carl Franklin, Larry Franklin, Robert Franklin, Louis Green, Sr., Robert Jackson and Tyrone Polk.

Lonnie Glenn

May 22, 1915 - Jan. 11, 2004

WOODVILLE - Services for Lonnie Glenn of Woodville, who died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Enbrew Baptist Church in Woodville with the Rev. Frank Sullivan officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Newman Funeral Home.

Mr. Glenn was born icon May 22, 1915, the son of Florence Lanhart and Nelson Glenn.

He was a retired lumber grader from Fred Netterville's Lumber Company.

Mr. Glenn was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannetter Glenn; son, Lonnie Glenn, Jr.; and daughter, Mary Ann Dyer.

Survivors include eight daughters, Willie Mae Netterville, a devoted daughter, of Woodville, Dora Daniels of Pontiac, MI, Florence Payton of Pontiac, Dorothy Glenn of Boutte, LA, Jeannetter Mott of Pontiac, Shelly McMorris of Sibley, Gloria Tucker of Washington and Sandra Smith of Natchez; six sons, Wilbert Douglas Glenn and Henry Lee Glenn of Pontiac, Robert Glenn of Marrero, LA, Darris Glenn, Lonnie Glenn and Isaac Glenn, all of Natchez; 55 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren and friends.

Pallbearers will be Kelvin Byrd, Sherman Netterville, Arthur Minor, Nicholas McMorris, Silas Netterville, Jr. and Stanley Netterville.

Earl Hayward Barrington

NATCHEZ - Services for Earl Hayward Barrington, 78, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Daliah Wilhoite Hall

April 16, 1915 - Jan. 12, 2004

JACKSON - Graveside services for Daliah Wilhoite Hall, 88, of Natchez, who died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, in Natchez, will be at 2 p.m. today at Lakewood Memorial Park with the Rev. Brock Watson officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hall was born icon April 16, 1915, in Graves County, KY, the daughter of Melvin O. and Ora Thompson Whilhoite.

She was a member of Covington Road Church of Christ.

Survivors include son, Charles E. Hall and wife, Rosemary of Natchez; two granddaughters, Amanda Josvanger of Moline, IL and Lori Hemphill of Ashville, N.C.; great-grandson, Jacob Hemphill of Ashville, N.C.; brother, Melvin O. Wilhoite, Jr. of Raymond.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Ladies Bible Class at Covington Road Church of Christ or First Presbyterian Church Discretionary Fund.

Elaine Hodge Easley

June 13, 1915 - Jan. 12, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Elaine Hodge Easley, 88, of Natchez, who died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at Trace Haven Health & Rehabilitation Center, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Episcopal Church with the Very Rev. Zabron A. Davis, III officiating.

Burial will be in the Natchez City cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 9 am. until service time Thursday at the Parish Hall.

Mrs. Easley was born icon June 13, 1915, in Natchez, the daughter of Abner A. and Melinda Middleton Hodge.

She was a retired teacher after 35 yeas of service with the Natchez Public Schools and was a communicate of Trinity Episcopal Church where she was a member of St. Cecilia's Guild and the Alter Guild. She was a member Emeritus of the Natchez Garden Club. Mrs. Easley served on the board of the Natchez City cemetery and was a member of the Historical Society.

Mrs. Easley was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John Weldon Easley, Jr.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda E. Taylor and husband, William R. Taylor of Natchez and Navarre, FL; four grandchildren and their spouses, Melinda Taylor and Jim Robertson of Austin, TX, Rob and Debra Taylor of Houston, TX, Walker Taylor of Houston, TX and Kate and Brian Hearne of Austin, TX; five great-grandchildren, Nick and Julie Robertson, Sam and Wesley Hearne and Emerson Taylor; cousins, the Rev. Chip and Cathy Davis and Matt Davis of Natchez, Zabe Davis of Tupelo, Judy and Arthur Grimsley of Natchez, Melissa McKay London of Ontario and David Grimsley of Baton Rouge, LA.

Memorials may be sent to Pleasant Acres School, Trinity Day School or a charity of choice.

Emerson Berryhill

Aug. 8, 1918 - Jan. 6, 2004

WOODVILLE - Services for H. Emerson Berryhill, 85, of Woodville, who died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, was held Jan. 8 at Woodville Baptist Church where the Rev. Gary Bunch and Dr. Dan Howard officiated.

Burial was in Evergreen cemetery in Woodville under the direction of Rabenhorst Funeral Home of Baton Rouge.

Mr. Berryhill was born icon Aug. 8, 1918, in the Berwick Community of Amite County, the son of Charles E. Berryhill and Inez Hays Berryhill.

In 1942, Mr. Berryhill attended the first ever pre-flight school school held at the University of Georgia. He was later commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Air Corps where he was a pilot who trained in the F4U Corsair fighter plane in the early stages of World War II. He was seriously injured and lost his right arm when he crashed his own plane to avoid another pilot on the ground who had turned his fighter in the Berryhill's path during a routine landing.

Mr. Berryhill was a graduate of William Winans Attendance Center in Centreville and of the Cincinnati College of Embalming in 1940. On July 1, 1947, he opened Berryhill Funeral Home on the corner of Second South and Sligo Streets in Woodville and operated this business for 57 years until his death. He was a member of the Woodville Baptist Church and was past president of the Mississippi Funeral Home Directors Association.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Lydia Massey Berryhill of Woodville; two daughters, Lydia B. Bolen of Jackson and Edna B. Berryhill of Memphis; three sisters, Mary Helen Bruton of McComb, Jan Hodges of Denham Springs, LA and Mrs. Prentiss Vines of Centreville; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Patrick Bolen, Sammie Cotton, Andy Lewis, John Dawson, David Brown, Mike Munn, Charlie Canova and Dewey Wayne King, III.

Honorary pallbearers were ronnie Dipuna, glen Whetstone, Dr. Jennings Owens, Sam Dunlap, J.M. Sessions, III, Louis D'Aquilla and Wettlin Treppendahl.

Thomas Edward Blalack Jr.

June 19, 1909 - Jan. 12, 2004

BROOKHAVEN - Services for Thomas Edward Blalack, Jr., 94, of Brookhaven, who died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at King's Daughters Hospital, will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will be in Bogue Chitto cemetery under the direction of Brookhaven Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Blalack was born icon June 19, 1909, in Charleston, the son of Thomas E. Blalack and Marion H. Blalack.

He was retired from Armstrong Rubber Company, was a member of Church of Christ and served in the Army during WW II and the Korean War. He was formerly of Natchez.

Mr. Blalack was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ada Mae Blalack; brother, Freddie Blalack; two sisters, Blanche Bloodworth and Addie Brady.

Survivors include son, William E. Blalack of Brookhaven and grandchildren, Brent Blalack of Asheville, N.C. and Courtney Lupton of Fort Worth, TX.

Elaine Hodge Easley

NATCHEZ - Services for Elaine Hodge Easley, 88, of Natchez, who died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at Trace Haven Health & Rehabilitation Center, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Episcopal Church with the Very Rev. Zabron A. Davis, III officiating.

Funeral arrangements for James Howard (Jimmy) Aarons, 55, of Vinton, LA formerly of Vidalia, LA, who died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, at Cancer Center of America in Tulsa, OK, are incomplete at Hixson Funeral Home in Vinton.

Annie Marie Jackson

Dec. 12, 1959 - Jan. 1, 2004

NATCHEZ - Ceremony and burial for Annie Marie Jackson, 44, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, was held Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, where the Rev. Willie Anderson officiated.

Ms. Jackson was preceded in death by her grandparents, Wilhemena and Curtis Jackson Sr. and one brother, Patrick Jackson.

Survivors include her mother, Carlena Dunbar and step-father, Joseph Dunbar Sr.; four sons, Reginald Jackson, Marcus Jackson, Felix Jackson and Micheal Jackson; one daughter, Alexis Jackson; one granddaughter, Zanna Jackson; two sisters, Sandra Jackson and Patrica Jackson; three brothers, Clevonne Jackson, Joseph Dunbar Jr. and Lorenzo Dunbar; three aunts and three uncles; a loyal friend, Le Andrew Holmes; and a number of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Marilyn "Bay" Simpson Sims

PASS CHRISTIAN - Memorial mass for Marilyn "Bay" Simpson Sims, 66, of Pass Christian, who died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, in Pass Christian, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Catholic Church in Pass Christian.

Burial will be at a later date at Lakelawn cemetery in Metairie, LA under the direction of Riemann Funeral Home of Bay St. Louis.

Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.

She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Pass Christian for the past 12 years.

Mrs. Sims was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel Gilmore Simpson and Robert L. Simpson and brothers, Robert L. Simpson, Jr. and John Gilmore Simpson.

Survivors include her husband, Gerald N. Sims; daughter, Missy Jackson Adam of Bay St. Louis; stepson, Dr. Gerald N. Sims, Jr. of Owensboro, KY; stepdaughter, Catherine Sims Sewell of Natchez; a sister, Ann Simpson Clifton of New Orleans; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Pass Christian Public Library, 111 Hiern Ave., Pass Christian, MS 39571 or to St. Paul Catholic Church, 140 E. Beach Blvd., Pass Christian, MS 39571.

Mattie McDonald

June 10, 1919 - Jan. 9, 2004

WOODVILLE - Services for Mattie McDonald, 84, of Woodville, who died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, in Centreville, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Magnolia Baptist Church in Woodville with the Rev. Robert Sullivan officiating.

Burial will be in the McDonald Family cemetery under the direction of Williams & Williams.

Mrs. McDonald was born icon June 10, 1919, the daughter of John and Helen Bolden.

She was a housewife and was employed with Princeville Cannery Co. in St. Francisville, LA. She was a member of Magnolia Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Oliver McDonald Sr. of Woodville; one daughter, Shirley Swain of Woodville; one adopted daughter, Georgetta McDonald of Woodville; two sons, Oliver McDonald Jr. and John L. McDonald, both of Woodville; seven sisters, Bessie Palmer, Ruth Turner and Louvenia Brown, all of Woodville, Maple Walker of Baton Rouge, LA, Alma Jones and Edna Stirgus of Woodville and Olivia Smith of Chicago, IL; two brothers, John C. Bolden and Charles Bolden of Woodville; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
