Walter Johnson

FAYETTE - Services for Walter Johnson, 94, of Fayette, who died Monday, March 8, 2004, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Taylor Chapel Baptist Church in Fayette with the Rev. Percy Turner officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 2 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Linard E. Dunigan

Aug. 7, 1919 - March 10, 2004

MCCALL CREEK - Graveside services for Linard E. Dunigan, 84, of McCall Creek, who died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at University Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at New Salem Baptist Church cemetery.

Burial will follow under the direction of Brookhaven Funeral Home.

Visitation is from noon until service time Saturday at the church.

Mr. Dunigan was born icon Aug. 7, 1919, in Lucien, the son of Marshall Dunigan and Lula Wooten Dunigan.

He was a bookkeeper, a member of New Salem Baptist Church and served in the Army.

Mr. Dunigan was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, two sisters and one grandchild.

Survivors include his wife, Edith Applewhite Dunigan of McCall Creek; two sons, Ralph Dunigan of Easley, S.C. and Alvin Dunigan of Tampa, FL; two daughters, Linda Bryan of McCall Creek and Norma Finnegan of Florence; three brothers, Venton Dunigan of Natchez, Jerry Dunigan of McCall Creek and Othell Dunigan of Odessa, TX; one sister, Doris Campbell of Vicksburg; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Willie F. Pittiman

FAYETTE - Services for Willie F. Pittiman, 59, of Chicago, IL, who died Thursday, March 4, 2004, in Chicago, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Green Leaf Baptist Church in Fayette with the Rev. Percy Turner officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home.

Visitation is from noon to service time Saturday at the church.

Phillip Gaystock

March 5, 1914 - March 6, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Phillip Gaystock of New Orleans, LA, who died Saturday, March 6, 2004, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Orleans, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at George F. West Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Anderson officiating.

Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Gaystock was born icon March 5, 1914, in Adams County, the son of Alex and Eliza Gaystock.

Survivors include two sisters, Mildred Knight and Dorothy M. Grant of New Orleans, LA; 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 24 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Rembert Belton Sr.

Jan. 26, 1921 - March 5, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Rembert Belton Sr., 83, of Natchez, who died Friday, March 5, 2004, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at King Solomon Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred Schiele officiating.

Burial will be at the Natchez National cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Mr. Belton was born icon Jan. 26, 1921, in Jefferson County, the son of Richard Bouie Sr. and Pearlean Jones. He was reared by grandparents, Essie and A.P. Belton.

He was a member of King Solomon Baptist Church, King David Grand Lodge and was a past potentate, a senior warden and a member of the American Legion Post. He served in the United States Army.

Survivors include two sons, Rembert (Josie) Belton Jr. of Las Vegas, NV and Michael (Brenda) Belton of Natchez; one daughter, Geraldine (Nathaniel) Grammer of Shelby; a step-daughter, Mary Gladys Johnson of Natchez; two sisters, Essie (Harry Sr.) Buck of Hermanville and Mattie L. Jones of Fort Worth, TX; five brothers, Forest L. (Joann) Jones of Hazlehurst, James Jones of Wesson, Abb (Ester) Jones of Union Church, Will T. Jones of St. Croix, Virgin Island and four sisters-in-law, Mamie Mazique, Annie Jones, Augusta Warren and Hilda (Eugene) Stevenson, all of Natchez; two brothers-in-law, Semo Green of Natchez and Lee Authur Davis of Fayette; five grandchildren, Sgt. Clifton (Mamie) Belton of Fort Bragg, NC, Derrick Belton of Natchez, Melissa Belton of Baton Rouge, LA, Colter and Cedric Grammer of Jackson; five step-grandchildren, Kimberly Johnson, Stanley Johnson, Stacey Johnson, Donna Chaney and Van Chaney; a special friend, Katie Galmore of Natchez; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Robert Lee "Struck" Gaylor

July 21, 1948 - March 8, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Robert Lee "Struck" Gaylor, 55, of Natchez, who died Monday, March 8, 2004, at Riverland Medical Center, will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Zion Flower Baptist Church with the Rev. Melvin White officiating.

Burial will be in the Natchez National cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 3:30 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Mr. Gaylor was born icon July 21, 1948, in Adams County, the son of Willie Gaylor and Beatrice Foster Gaylor.

He was educated in the Adams County Public Schools and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and was a retired disabled Vietnam Veteran. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantrymans Badge, the Army Commendation Medal with "V" and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a member of the L.F.C. Society and the Love. Friendship and Charity Society.

Survivors include his wife, Luvenia Winston Gaylor; son, Justin Winston Gaylor; father, Willie Gaylor; five brothers, Willie Albert Gaylor of Chicago, IL, Leroy (Inez) Gaylor of New Orleans, LA, James Gaylor and David (Brenda) Gaylor of Natchez and Micheal Gaylor of San Antonio, TX; three sisters, Mary (Charles) Minor, Robbie (Aaron) Fulton of Natchez and Shirley (Freddie) Simpson of Jackson; mother-in-law, Clyde D. Winston; four brothers-in-law, Rev. Johnny Elery, Edward (Sabrina) Winston, Herman (Melissa) Winston and Luther (Lillie) Winston of Natchez; five sisters-in-law, Penella (Eddie) Green, Betsy Winston, Wania Winston of Natchez, Dorothy Roberts and Donna (James) Kemp of Jackson; special aunt, Geneva Harris of New Orleans; special cousin, Charles Harris of New Orleans; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Willard Sims, R.T. Sims, Clarence McQuarters, Semo Warren, Isiah Young and James Kemp.

William W. "Bill" Parsons

Feb. 16, 1936 - March 9, 2004

FRANKLIN COUNTY - Services for William W. "Bill" Parsons, 67, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Jackson, will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Franklin Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will be in Parsons cemetery in Lincoln County under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.

Zelma VanOsdol Foster

JACKSON - Services for Zelma VanOsdol Foster, 81, of Jackson, who died Monday, March 8, 2004, at the Manhattan Health Care Center, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Chapel of First Baptist Church of Jackson.

Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park cemetery under the direction of Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home on High Street and from 1 p.m. until service time Thursday at the church.

Mrs. Foster, the former Zelma VanOsdol, was born icon in Montrose and grew up in Pascagoula. She was a graduate of Blue Mountain college and earned the master of religious education degree from the Woman's Missionary Union Training School (now part of Southern Seminary), and the bachelor of divinity degree from Southern Seminary. In 1947, she married icon James A. Foster and they were appointed Southern Baptist Missionaries serving 36 years in China, the Philippines and Surinam before retirement in 1983. In the mission field, Mrs. Foster directed the Dutch Sunday School for children; supervised the youth fellowship group; taught the ladies Bible study; directed Vacation Bible School and led the interdenominational ladies' fellowship and Bible study group. She also taught an adult Sunday School Class at the International Baptist Church in Manila and she held Japanese and English language Bible studies in her home. Mrs. Foster loved to paint and enjoyed painting Chinese water color scrolls and flowers of all kinds. She also authored a book about the 36 years spent in China, the Philippines and Surinam titled, "A Dream Come True". Since retirement, she and her husband have been faithful members of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, James A. Foster of Jackson; a daughter, Sandra Dean Foster Stringer and her husband, Bryan of Natchez; a son, John Earl Foster and his wife, Gina of St. Louis, MO; a grandson, Bryan Davis Stringer III of Jackson; a granddaughter, Johnna Suzette Foster Agent and her husband, Kevin of Philadelphia; a grandson, Bradley James Foster of Orlando, FL; a sister, Sarah Catherine VanOsdol Cameron of Canyon, TX; and three great-grandchildren, Jason Davis Stringer, Lauren Eloise Stringer and Mary Morgan Agent.

Memorial contributions should be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, the International Mission Board, SBC or First Baptist Church building fund.

Isaac Rogers

Jan. 20, 1950 - March 3, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Isaac Rogers, 54, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at V.A. Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at George F. West Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Marvin Barnett officiating.

Burial will be in the Natchez National cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Rogers was born icon Jan. 20, 1950, in Adams County, the son of Steve and Eva Rogers.

He was educated in the Illinois School System and was a Baptist.

Survivors include his father, Steve Rogers Sr. of Natchez; three sisters, Evelyn (Marvin) Barnett, Doris (Robert) Shell and Pamelia F. Wright, all of Chicago, IL; three brothers, Steve Rogers Jr. and Jerry Rogers of Natchez and Vincent Rogers of Chicago; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Carl Marius Treppendahl Jr.

Oct. 20, 1912 - March 7, 2004

WOODVILLE - Services for Carl Marius Treppendahl Jr., 91, of Woodville, who died Sunday, March 7, 2004, at Field Memorial Hospital in Centreville, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Woodville with the Rev. Ed Lundin officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery in Woodville under the direction of Newman Funeral Home of Centreville.

Visitation is from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.

He was a lifelong resident of Woodville and was a business executive. He was the owner of 7-Day Wholesale and former owner of Bluff City Distributors. He was former president of MS Wholesale Grocers Assoc., former resident of MS Malt Beverage Assoc. and served many times as Jr. and Sr. Warden of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Mr. Treppendahl was active in the Lions Club and was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Mr. Treppendahl was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Marius Treppendahl Sr. and Elizabeth Wettlin Treppendahl; one daughter, Elizabeth reppendahl Chouinard; one son, Kenneth Dixon Treppendahl; three brothers, John Roe Treppendahl, Marshall Treppendahl and Adolph Treppendahl.

Survivors include his wife of over 67 years, Mildred Treppenhahl of Woodville; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy Treppendahl Robinson and Bud Robinson of Jackson; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Carl M. and Shirley Treppendahl III of Brandon and Clinton Treppendahl of Woodville; one sister, Margaret Treppendahl Alford of Covington, LA; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Wettlin Treppendahl, Jerry Foster, Dr. Jennings Owens, John Green Robinson, Emerson Barney Robinson III, Richard J. Chouinard and Eric Grandich.

Eugenia "Gene" Mardis Matthew

June 12, 1944 - March 7, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Eugenia "Gene" Mardis Matthew, 59, of Natchez, who died Sunday, March 7, 2004, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. today at her family home "Donohue" on the Natchez Trace with the Rev. Diane Woodall officiating.

Burial will be in the Donohoe Family cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation was held Monday, March 8, 2004, at the family home from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mrs. Matthew was born icon June 12, 1944, in Jefferson County, the daughter of John Allen and Eugenia Aldridge Mardis.

Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Roger Dale Matthew Sr. of Natchez; one daughter, Sandy Matthew Fiser and husband, Michael A. Fiser of Baton Rouge, LA; one son, Roger Dale Matthew Jr. and wife, Renee W. Matthew of Baton Rouge; one grandson, Zachary Allen Matthew; one granddaughter, Elaina Caroline Matthew; one brother, Edwin R. Mardis and wife, Ramona M. Mardis of Jefferson County; one sister, Allene Mardis Noble and husband, Robert E. Noble of Baton Rouge; four nieces and two nephews, Ramona Mawhorter, Allen Mardis, Donna Westmoreland, Terry Marks, Stephanie Shroyer and Lee Mardis; and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews.

Pallbearers will be Michael Fiser, Allen Mardis, Steve Robertson, Bob Noble, Rusty Marks and Lee Mardis.
