Thomas Preston and Matthew Payton Cooley-Pearson, infant twins, of Moss Point, Miss., born icon Aug. 10, 2002, in Pascagoula, Miss., died Aug. 10, 2002, in Singing River Hospital, Pascagoula.
Survivors include their father, Thomas Matthew Pearson of Wade; mother, Heather Darlene Cooley of Hurley; grandparents, Randy and Becky Pearson of Wade, Rayford and Marilyn Reva Cooley of Hurley; great grandfather, Tommy Pearson of Lucedale; great grandmother, Dorothy Pearson, Pascagoula; great-grandmother, Alene Walters, Old Town, Fla.; great-grandmother, Clara Bethany, Helena; and three aunts.
Funeral service will be Sunday, Aug. 18, at 2 p.m., from Faith Baptist Church in Escatawpa, Miss., with the Rev. Randall Knight and the Rev. Rayford Cooley officiating.
Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery in Helena.

PIKE
Roy W. Pike, 67, of Pascagoula, Miss., died Wednesday August 14, 2002, in Pascagoula, Miss. born icon in New Orleans, La., June 11, 1935, to his parents, Roy and Claudia Pike.
He was married icon to Terrell A. Ford for 24 years ands was a lifelong resident of Pascagoula; where he practiced law, and was formerly a County and District Attorney. After graduating in 1961, from Mississippi State University in Forestry he worked for the Forestry Commission.
In 1968, he received his Juris Doctorate also from MSU and remained a loyal fan until his death. He served in the National Guard and actively served in the Berlin Crisis.
He was a member of the Pascagoula Masonic Lodge # 419, a member of the Scottish Rite of Gulfport, he was a 32nd degree Mason, was a member of The Eastern Star chapter 151, a Shriner of The Joppa Temple and was a past member of the Lyons Club, American Legion, Ducks Unlimited, the Elks Club and Yacht Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Claudia Pike and his wife, Lynda Pike.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda (Glenn) Miller of Ocean Springs, Miss.; one sister, Claudia Hawkins of Pascagoula; two grandchildren, Taylor and Christine Miller both of Ocean Springs; a nephew, Eddie Hawkins and a niece, Dori Black, both of Pascagoula; a longtime devoted secretary and loving friend Deborah (Danny) Martin of Pascagoula; a special family friend and minister, Rev. D. A. Patt of Pascagoula, and many other family members and friends.
His longtime Sunday school class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 17, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., at the O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula.
Funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel of O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula. The Reverend D. A. Patt is officiating the services. Full Masonic funeral rites will be given. Funeral services will conclude at the funeral home chapel.

ELY
Ruth E. Bouvier Ely, 78, of Moss Point, Miss., born icon June 12, 1924, in Bridgeport, Conn., died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, at her home in Moss Point. Mrs. Ely was a homemaker and the former owner of Hurley Video. She has lived in the Hurley community for nearly 50 years. She was preceded in death by her father, Wilford Bouvier; her mother, Mildred Hubbell Bouvier; brothers, Wilford and Francis Bouvier; and sister, Bernice Karolkowski.
Mrs. Ely is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Grady B. Ely, Hurley, Miss.; two sons, G. W. Jack (Ruth) Ely, Hurley, F. C. George (Glenda) Ely, Escatawpa, Miss.; two daughters, Sandy (Benny) Hearndon, Crossville, Tenn., and Elaine Baker, Hurley, Miss.; three brothers, Milton Bouvier, Joseph Bouvier and Donald Bouvier, all of Conn.; two sisters, Rose Rumovicz and Alaine Keiser of Conn.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Special thanks to Southern Care Hospice.
Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 15, from 9 to 11 a.m., at Jackson County Funeral Services in Escatawpa. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. David Williams of Temple Baptist church officiating.
Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Darrin Ely, Jason Ely, Matthew Ely, Jeff Ely, Brian Hearndon and Kyle Hearndon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

TATE
Bro. Mitchell Lee Tate was a man of prayer and praise, a servant of the, Lord Christian Soldier. He was born icon May 19, 1960, in Pascagoula, Miss., to Louise and Charlie Lee Tate. The Lord honored him to come before his presence on Friday, Aug. 9, 2002. Brother Tate lived in Pascagoula until he was 3 years old. Then his parents moved to Moss Point, Miss., where he lived the rest of his life.
He accepted the Lord at a young age, as his personal savior and became a powerful witness of God's love in every walk of life. He was a member of Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church, where he joyfully attended. He loved being in the fellowship. He had a kind heart, he helped anybody he could from the oldest to youngest of people. Everybody knew and loved him as one of their own.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charlie Lett and Lou Ella Lett Davis; and father, Charlie Lee Tate.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted mother, Louise Tate; four brothers, Alvin Lett, Ronald (Betty) Tate, Patrick (Debra) Tate, Bryan (Kimberly) Tate, all of Moss Point; two sisters, Gwendolyn Fantroy Hardy of Moss Point, Zoe Michelle Tate of Tacoma, Wash.; a very, very devoted aunt, Margie Barginer of Pascagoula; two devoted sisters in Christ, Christy Robinson and Patricia Stevens, both of Pascagoula; two devoted nieces, Keiosha and Brianna Tate, both of Moss Point; 20 nieces and nephews; 15 great-nieces and nephews; several devoted friends, Eartha Huey, Jean Wrights, Isabelle Norvel, Glenda Kinnard, all of Moss Point; a host of loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Viewing will be Saturday, Aug. 17, from 12 noon until 1 p.m., at Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church in Moss Point, with funeral services beginning promptly at 1 p.m.
Interment will be in Ford cemetery.
Services entrusted to the care of Turner Gulf Funeral Services, Pascagoula, Miss.

AUTMON
Ms. Laurandra M. Autmon, 50, of Pascagoula, Miss., passed away Saturday, August 10, 2002, at Singing River Hospital, Pascagoula.
She was born icon to the late Cicero and Alice Roberta Taylor of Pascagoula.
She is survived by two sons, Gill (Kisha) Autmon, Jr., Ocean Springs, Miss., and Chris Autmon of Pascagoula; two grandchildren, DeShawn Hurst Autmon and Reagan Taylor, both of Pascagoula; a close friend, Gill Autmon, Moss Point; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends from near and far.
Laurandra was a devoted servant of God, and a member of Victory Full Gospel Christian Center in Ocean Springs, Miss., under the leadership of Pastor Carlton G. McCarter.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 15, from 9:30 am. until 10:30 am. at Church of The Living God, 2233 Telephone Road, Pascagoula, Miss.
Funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m., also from the church.
Interment will be in Gabriel cemetery, Pascagoula.

TORREY
Robert "Berto" Wallace Torrey, 46, was born icon April 25, 1956, in Pascagoula, Miss. He remained a life-long resident of Jackson County until he departed his life for his journey to the glory land on August 11, 2002. Robert was a member of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church of Moss Point. He attended Pascagoula High School and was a former employee of Gautier Utility District. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Luesendia Torrey.
His memories will forever be cherished by a loving, devoted daughter, Miss Robin Torrey of Hattiesburg, Miss.; one son, Mr. Robert Bivens of Alabama; one stepson, Mr. Randy Richardson of Pascagoula, Miss.; three brothers, Bennie (Fannie) Torrey and William "Mickey" Torrey of Pascagoula, and James (Jerry) Torrey of Gautier; four sisters, Alcee Haynes of Moss Point, Miss., Alice Faye Powe of Prichard, Ala., Gaynell Torrey and Demetria Torrey of Pascagoula; former wife and life-long family member, Ms. Rosie Torrey; grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The remains will lie in state Thursday, August 15, from 9 a.m.-11 a.m., at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church on Dr. Martin Luther King Drive, Moss Point.
Funeral Services will begin promptly at 11 a.m., from the church with the Rev. Robert E. Coker, officiating.
Interment will be in Gabriel cemetery Pascagoula.
Services of Love are being rendered by Millender's Funeral Home, Moss Point, Miss.

BARIA
Mary Danielle Baria, 21, of Escatawpa, Miss., died Aug. 9, 2002 in Escatawpa, Miss. She was born icon June 15, 1981, in Pascagoula, Miss. Danielle was a member of the Barton Baptist Church in George County, Miss. Her survivors include a son, Adrian McLain Baria of Escatawpa, Miss., father and stepmother Warren and Karen Baria of Lucedale, Miss., mother and stepfather, Mary and Tim Andrews of Moss Point, Miss.; two sisters, Christina Baria of Escatawpa, Miss., and Toria Baria of Lucedale, Miss.; grandparents, John and Frances Burrows of Moss Point, Miss.; and Bill and Jan Baria of Vancleave, Miss.; step-grandparents, Juanita and Frank Andrews of Pascagoula, Miss., and Jimmy &Jane Johnson of Lucedale, Miss.; niece, Maggie Taylor Baria of Escatawpa, Miss., and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point, Miss.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Monday from the funeral home chapel. The Rev. James Sanders will officiate.
Burial will follow at Griffin cemetery in Moss Point, Miss.

CUMBEST
Billy Ray Cumbest Sr., 51, of Harleston, Miss. died Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, in Pascagoula, Miss. Mr. Cumbest had worked for "Bell Bottom Foundation " as a mechanic and was a member of the Rosedale United Methodist Church in Harleston, Miss. He was preceded in death by his father, Dick Cumbest.
Mr. Cumbest's survivors include his wife, Brenda D. Cumbest of Harleston; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Billy Ray and Page Cumbest Jr. of Gautier, Miss., Ricky Cumbest of Gautier, Miss., and Johnny Cumbest of Harleston, Miss.; two daughters, Cathy Harrisman of Maine and Kasey Cumbest of Harleston, Miss.; mother, Ruth Cumbest of Gautier, Miss.; brother, Frank Monahan of Texas and a sister, Regina Braswell of Ocean Springs, Miss.; six grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point, Miss.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Monday Aug. 12, 2002, at from the Rosedale United Methodist Church in Harleston, Miss. Friends may call one hour before services at the church.
Rev. Tom Freeman and Rev. John Hearty will officiate. Burial will follow at Johnson cemetery in Wade, Miss.

POWER
Augustus Miller Power Jr., 71, of Clovis, Calif., died Thursday, August 8, 2002, at 12:15 in the morning, in Clovis, Calif. Augustus, also known as A.M., was born icon on June 25, 1931, in Weir, Miss. He was a salesman with Wholesale Supply Co., where he worked until he retired after 35 years of service. He was happily married icon for over 50 years to Anne Elizabeth Ervin Power who preceded him in death over a year ago. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Survivors include his two sons, Miller and Charles Power; their wives, Charlene and Patricia Power; his daughter, Jean Ann Power; as well as seven grandchildren, AMP, Ashley, Andrew, Hailey, Chad, Blake, and Erika Power.
Visitation will be Monday, August 12, from 1-2 p.m., at Ingalls Avenue Baptist Church.
Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at Ingalls Avenue Baptist Church, Pascagoula with the Rev. John Turner officiating.
Interment will be at Jackson County Memorial Park in Pascagoula, Miss.
Arrangements by O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Pascagoula, Miss.
