Betty Jean Acosta, "Heart of the Family, " 69, of Pascagoula, Miss., died Friday, March 26, 2004, in Pascagoula. She was born
March 10, 1935, in Melville, La., and has been a resident of Pascagoula for 35 years. She retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding as a senior boast clerk and was a member of Eastlawn Baptist Church in Pascagoula. She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Fry, her mother, Littie Laura Adams, her stepfather, O.Y. Neely, and a sister, Katherine Osborne.
YOUNG
Mr. Essel Cephus "Cecil" Young, 84, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2004, at his home while surrounded by his family. He was born
May 11, 1919, in Nyota, Ala., and had been a longtime resident of Pascagoula. Cecil retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding in 1983 where he was a welder.After retirement he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his grandsons, and gardening with his wife.
RENFROE
Lillian Miller Renfroe, 85, of Moss Point, Miss., died Friday, March 26, 2004, at Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula, Miss. Mrs. Renfroe was born
in Columbia, Miss., March 21, 1919. Her parents were Robert Carson and Lydia Polk Miller of Ocean Springs, Miss. She was a graduate of Ocean Springs High School, now the Mary C. O'Keefe Cultural Center for Arts and Education. She was married
on Aug. 25, 1940, to Robert Barnes Renfroe who preceded her in death on March 4, 1969. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Moss Point and of the Naomi-Gleaners Sunday School Class. Since her retirement from the Moss Point School System where she was secretary at West Elementary. She volunteered with the Singing River Hospital Auxiliary.

Frances (Frank) Harley Trefren, age 66, passed Thursday, March 25, 2004, at his home in LaPorte, Texas.
BRYANT
Mr. Willie Lee "Boo" Bryant, 60, was born
on Feb. 7, 1944, in Sunflower, Ala. He departed from this life into eternal rest on Monday, March 22, 2004. He was preceded in death by his parents, Olevia and Herbert Bryant Sr.; brother, Grady Dock Bryant Sr.; loving nephew, Charles Hurst; and father-in-law, Joe Drape. He was employed as a painter until his illness.
LAMBERT
Mrs. Irma Isabelle Lambert of Forts Lake, Miss., died March 25, 2004, in Pascagoula, Miss. She was born
Sept. 22, 1925, in Jackson County and was a homemaker. Mrs. Lambert was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Nora Demouey; husband, Barnett M. Lambert; daughters, Eunice Ready and Edna Isham; and great-grandson, Brandon Ready.
EILAND
Terri Lynn Eiland, 40, of Moss Point, Miss., died March 21, 2004, in Moss Point. Terri was born
April 1, 1963 in Jackson, Miss., living most of her life in the coastal area. She was a member of the Franklin Creek Baptist Church, the Joppa Shriners and served on the Franklin Creek Fire Department for the past three years. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronnie H. and Jimmy R. Norwood; grandparents Harvey Sims and Helen Pabelchak.
JAMES
Mr. Robert L. James Sr., 66, of Wade, Miss., died March 21, 2004 in Wade. Mr. James was born
May 29, 1937, in Ellisville, Miss. He was a faithful member of Wade Baptist Church where he and his wife were saved and baptized in 1959. He was an Ordained Deacon, a member of the East Central Masonic Lodge #631, and an electrician with Ingalls Shipbuilding for 42 years. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend, and will be missed greatly by all that knew him.
MERK
Edith Beatrice Merk, 91 passed away Monday, March 22, 2004. She was born
May 19, 1912 in Muskogee, Okla. She lived most of her life in Sacramento, Calif., until moving to Escatawpa, Mississippi in 1998. She was a strong, loving woman with an unshakeable faith in God. She cherished her family, had a generous spirit and loved to serve the Lord by helping others. She was preceded in death by her parents, nine brothers and sisters, and grandson, Tony Brannon.

May 2, 1944 in Springfield, Ohio and a resident of George County, Miss., passed away Monday, March 22, 2004 at her home.

Mr. Eddie Lee Perryman Jr., 66, of Moss Point, Miss., died March 21, 2004, at his residence. Mr. Perryman was born
February 8, 1938, in Haynesville, Ala., to Eddie Lee Perryman, Sr. and Rosa Lee Perryman. He moved to Pascagoula at an early age and attended Carvey High School. He married
Mary Lee Ashford on June 30, 1 961.

Hazel Myrtis Tucei, 84, died Monday, March 22, 2004, in Ocean Springs, Miss. and has been a resident of Gautier, Miss., for 60 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gautier.

Mrs. Mildred S. Coffey, age 96, and a resident of Ocean Springs, Miss., died Friday, March 19, 2004, in her home.
POWELL
Mrs. Elizabeth "Libby" M. Powell, born
in Greene County, Miss., passed away March 20, 2004, at her residence, at the age of 72. She was a member of Greenlodge Congregational Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Famous Artist Academy of Greenwich, Conn. She was preceded in death by her son, Jeff Hathorn, and sister, Billie Rose Merritt.
BJORK
Ada Beryl Bjork passed away June 26, 2004, at her daughter's home in Moss Point, Miss. She was born
in Tribune, Kan., on July 2, 1905, one of ten children to Cora Belle and Phillip Cooper. Mrs. Bjork was a long time resident of Denver, Colo., but had lived in Moss Point for eight years.

Thelma Pelham Hagmann, 73, of Pascagoula, Miss., died Saturday, June 26, 2004, in Pascagoula, Miss. She was born
July 7, 1930, in Pascagoula, Miss., where she was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Pascagoula High School in 1948 and attended Mississippi State College for Women and Ole Miss. After completing her education, she worked for Ingalls Shipbuilding for two years.

Mrs. Verimae W. Jones, 84, of Hurley, Miss., died Saturday, June 26, 2004, in
APPLEWHITE
Mr. Ernest Applewhite, age 77, of Ocean Springs, Miss., died Wednesday, June 23, 2004, in Ocean Springs. Mr. Applewhite was born
on Oct. 8, 1926. He graduated from Union Church High School in 1942 and joined the Navy in 1944, serving until 1946. After his service he attended Copiah Lincoln Junior College. In 1951 he moved to Pascagoula and worked at Ingalls Shipyard as a draftsman. Mr. Applewhite married
Doris on Feb. 22, 1950. He went into business for himself, in 1958, serving Jackson County and his community up until the present time. Ernest and Doris were active members of Gautier First United Methodist Church. Mr. Applewhite was preceded in death by his oldest son, Guy Applewhite of Gautier; his parents, Guy and Odesa Applewhite; brother, Hugh Applewhite of Hazelhurst; and sister, Betty Ruth Jareau of Jackson.

Tiffany Denise Liddell, 16, of Moss Point, was born
May 14, 1988, in Pascagoula, Miss. She entered into rest on Tuesday, June 22, 2004, at her residence. Tiffany was of the Baptist faith and a member of Second Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Lucille Bolden.

GRAFTON
Mary D. Grafton, 72, of Gautier, Miss., died Wednesday, June 23, 2004, in Singing River Hospital, Pascagoula, Miss. She was born
June 23, 1932, in Newton, Miss., and has been a resident of Gautier for 28 years. She was a homemaker and dedicated to her family. Mrs. Mary was a member of First Baptist Church in Gautier. She was preceded in death by: parents, Charles and Ruth Dearing; sister, Eleanor Ruth Dearing; and infant son, Stephen Grafton, and infant daughter, Elizabeth Grafton.
MURPHY
Mrs. Annie Anderson Murphy, age 85, of Vancleave, Miss., died Wednesday, June 23, 2004, in Vancleave. Mrs. Murphy was a native of Grenada, Miss. She lived there until 1985, when she moved to Vancleave, her husband's childhood home. Mrs. Murphy was a 1936 graduate of Grenada High School in Grenada. She attended Grenada College and the University of Mississippi. She retired from First Federal Savings and Loan Association in Grenada after 18 years of service. Mrs. Murphy was a member of the United Methodist Women and was a member of the Vancleave United Methodist Church.

Mr. Michael D. Davis, 43, of Moss Point, Miss., was born
Oct. 19, 1960, in Pascagoula, Miss. Mr. Davis passed on to eternal life Thursday, June 17, 2004, at Singing River Hospital.
DOWNS
Julia Florene Downs, 82, of Pascagoula, Miss., passed away from complications of a stroke on June 18, 2004, in Orlando, Fla., with her children at her side. She was born
Oct. 25, 1921, in Eupora, Miss., the second daughter of her parents, Robert and Henrietta Bright. She grew up in Tomnolen, Miss., and graduated from Eupora High School.
JOHNSON
Roy Chester "Brell" Johnson, 52, died June 8, 2004, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, Miss. He was a Jackson County resident, a ship painter, and a Methodist church member. He was a United States Army veteran and had worked for Northrop Grumman Ship Systems.

Reverend Byron E. Mathis, of Long Beach, Miss., born
Dec. 9, 1926, in Beaumont, Miss., died June 18, 2004, at his home in Long Beach, Miss., overlooking the Mississippi Sound, embraced by his wife, Joyce, and son, Buddy.
