GAFFNEY
Mr. John J. "Red" Gaffney was called to rest on Friday, May 6, 2005. He was a resident of Pascagoula for approximately 70 years. "Red" was born icon in Detroit, Michigan on March 5, 1917 to John and Caroline Gaffney. He was a member of the Electrician Local Union 733, the BPOF Elks Lodge 1120 and the American Legion Post 160. He retired from Ingalls Shipyard in 1993 after 50 years of service in the Electrical Maintenance Department.

KNOBF
Robert D. Knobf, age 78, died Friday, May 6, 2005 in Pascagoula, Miss. He was a resident of Pascagoula, a member of the Christ Lutheran Church and a member of the V.F.W. post #3373. Mr. Knobf retired from the U.S. Air Force as a MSGT and the U.S. Postal Service after 41 years of combined service in both. He was a graduate of The University of the Philippines and received a B.A. degree in Sociology.

BRYANT
Mr. Phil Ray Bryant, 57, of Pascagoula, Miss., died May 4, 2005. He was born icon June 3, 1947 in Pascagoula. Mr. Bryant was a U.S. Navy veteran and served in Vietnam. He was owner and operator of Phil Ray Seafood, Inc. for many years. Mr. Bryant was preceded in death by his father, Thomas James Bryant, Sr. and sister, Karen Poiroux.

CASSON
Kelly Estelle Casson, 22, died April 27, 2005 in Sevierville, Tenn. She was born icon March 25, 1983 in Ocean Springs, Miss.

COX
Pedro "Pete" Walter Cox III had fought brain cancer since last Thanksgiving. His pain finally ended on May 5, 2005 at the age of 58, while surrounded by his family. He was a good man who helped anyone with anything anytime. His kindness, his unselfish giving, and his smile and laughter were shared by everyone who met him.

SANDERSON
Gathery Marie Grice Sanderson, age 81, a resident of Bay Towers in Pascagoula, Miss., died May 5, 2005. She was born icon July 14, 1923 in Laurel, Miss. Mrs. Sanderson retired from J.C. Penney. She was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin Lee and Abbie Grice and husband, W.C. Sanderson.

BRYANT
Mr. Phil Ray Bryant, 57, of Pascagoula, Miss., died May 4, 2005.

CASSON
Kelly Estelle Casson, 22, died April 27, 2005 in Sevierville, Tenn. She was born icon March 25, 1983 in Ocean Springs, Miss.

FRENCH
James Leo French, Jr., 48, of Moss Point Miss., died May 1, 2005, in Moss Point. Mr. French was born icon Jan. 20, 1957, in Hattiesburg Miss. He was a graduate of Moss Point High School in 1975, and was employed with Northrup Grumman as a design specialist.

RATTLEFF
Mr. Philip Nelson Rattleff, Jr., 66, of Pascagoula, Miss., died Thursday, June 9, 2005 in Biloxi, Miss. He was born icon July 11, 1938 in Bath, Maine. Mr. Rattleff was retired from Northrop-Grumman Ship Systems in Pascagoula after 16 years as a Design Engineer. Before moving to Pascagoula, he worked 22 years with General Dynamics in Waterford, Connecticut. Mr. Rattleff was a very active member of the Elks Lodge of Pascagoula #1120 and was elected Exalted Ruler for 2005. Because of his illness, Mr. Rattleff was unable to assume his position, but in his honor, was named Honorary Exalted Ruler by the National Elks Association, a distinction never before given. Mr. Rattleff was named Elk of the Month in 2000, was given the Pascagoula Elks Fidelity Award in 2002, was the 2003 Lecturing Knight State Winner with the Mississippi State Elks Association and that same year was named Man of the Year by the Pascagoula Elks Auxiliary. In 2004 Mr. Rattleff was the Loyal Knight State Winner with the Mississippi State Elks Association. Much of the recognition he received was because of his hard work and dedication to his lodge and his community. He was active in the Elks Hoop Shoot for 8-13 year old children in Jackson County, helped make the monthly Bingo Night program for disabled veterans a success at the Biloxi Veteran's Administration, and assisted his lodge in delivering fruit baskets to community widows. Mr. Rattleff was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Philip Nelson Rattleff, Sr.; and his brother, Gerald Rattleff.

SIMS
Mrs. Avis Carlene Sims, 60, of Gautier, Miss., died June 7, 2005. Holder-Wells Funeral Home, Moss Point, Miss.

MATTHEWS
Haskel "Sam" Matthews, Sr., 72, of Pascagoula, Miss., went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 6, 2005, while surrounded by all of his family and friends. He was born icon Jan. 11, 1933 in New Augusta, Miss., and had been a resident of Pascagoula for 52 years. Mr. Matthews was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korea War. Mr. Matthews was the President of M M Plumbing in Pascagoula for 32 years. He was a member of V.F.W., and Lighthouse Baptist Church in Pascagoula.

POWERS
Kathy "Kate" Powers, 56, of Gulfport, Miss., died Tuesday, June 7, 2005 in Gulfport. She was a certified medical assistant for 20 years and had fought Lupus valiantly for 16 years. She was an avid North Carolina Tar Hills fan.

WELCH
James "Big James" Morgan Cooper-Welch, 69, a long time resident of Moss Point, Miss., died Monday, June 6, 2005. He was born icon in Louisville, Miss., on May 3, 1936.

JONES
Gerald Thomas "WHOP" Jones, 47 of Moss Point, Miss., died June 4, 2005. Heritage Funeral Home, Escatawpa, Miss.

GALLOWAY
Mr. Richard Lee "Rick" Galloway, 38, of Pascagoula, Miss., died Friday, June 3, 2005, in Pascagoula.

JOSEY
Mrs. Marjorie Lynn Josey, a native of North Carolina and resident of Mobile, died Friday, June 3, 2005 in a hospital in Pascagoula, Miss.

Claudette Marie Richardson, 67, passed from this life on Sunday, June 5, 2005, in New Orleans, La. She was the oldest child born icon to the late Rachel and Robert Richardson. She was also preceded in death by her step-mother, Verdie Richardson, a brother, Clarence (Bubba) Richardson, a sister, Shirley R. Sessions, her grandmother, Camille Martin and her aunt Mildred Martin.

WILLIAMSON
Mrs. Earline Adams (Baty Rowe) Williamson of Esca-tawpa, Miss. was tragically taken from her family June 4, 2005 at the age of 69. She was born icon April 11, 1936 in Biloxi, Miss.

Mr. Richard Lee "Rick" Galloway, 38, of Pascagoula, Miss., died Friday, June 3, 2005, in Pascagoula.

George Walter "G.W." Hurd was born icon Jan. 6, 1919 in Yazoo City, Miss., to the union of Allen and Chaney, who have preceded him in death.

Bernard Davis "Top Notch" Taylor of Pascagoula, Miss., died July 23, 2005, in the Singing River Hospital. born icon on July 17, 1944, Mr. Taylor was a long-time driver for Estabrook Ford Nissan.

HAZEL BRANNING, 76, of Pascagoula, Miss., died July 24, 2005. Heritage Funeral Home, Escatawpa, Miss.
