MILES
Myrna Bennett Miles, 77, of Gulf Breeze, Fla. died Wednesday Oct. 11, 2006, in Pensacola, Fla. Mrs. Miles was a former resident of Jackson County, Miss. She was a retired Registered Nurse with Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula. Mrs. Miles had held various administrative positions with the hospital for over 30 years. She was active in Santa Rosa Woman's Club, Gulf Breeze Methodist Women's Club and was a member of Gulf Breeze United Meth-odist Church. Myrna was loved and admired by all of her family and friends, she will be greatly missed by all. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother. Mrs. Miles was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lillian Bennett; and one sister, Vivian Nye.

on Oct. 11, 1914, in Lucedale. She loved spending time with her family and was an enormous pet lover.

Louise Betts Jones, 77, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Moss Point, Miss., passed away on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006.
LLOYD
Mr. Tracy James Lloyd, 75, of Gautier, Miss., died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006, in Pascagoula, Miss. Mr. Lloyd was born
Dec. 7, 1930, in Belzoni, Miss. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the American Legion Post #160 in Pascagoula. Mr. Lloyd was a retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant and served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam Era. He worked for 15 years with Swetman Security Service in Biloxi as a security guard, a heritage which he passed on to his family. Mr. Lloyd was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

on Feb. 13, 1913, to the union of the late Ranzy and Mattie Hatten Young. He passed away peacefully on Oct. 5, 2006, at Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula, Miss.

Funeral services for Dr. Ira B. Harkey Jr., 88, former New Orleans and Mississippi newspaperman will be held on Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Lakelawn Metairie cemetery in New Orleans.

Mrs. Barbara Burnett McMahan, 60, of Purvis, Miss., died Oct. 7, 2006, at Oxford Nursing Home in Lumberton, Miss. Mrs. McMahan was a 1964 graduate of the Pascagoula High School. She was a longtime resident of Forrest and Lamar Counties. She worked for 27 years in the child development (pre school) in Forrest County. She was a member of the Okahola Baptist Church in Purvis, Miss.
SHACKELFORD
Waudin Rushing Shackelford, 84, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2006, in Pascagoula, Miss. She was born
Nov. 25, 1921, in Neshoba County, Miss., and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Shackelford was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Ida Jane Rushing and her husband William (Bill) Shackelford.

Mrs. Anna Ernestine Ledbetter, 71, of Pascagoula, Miss. died on October 8, 2006, in Pascagoula. She was born
on September 5, 1935, in George County.

Gerald S. Lingel, 60, formerly of Hudson, Ohio, died peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006, at his home in Vancleave. He was the son of Joseph (deceased) and Josephine Lingel of Brimfield, Ohio.

Ms. "B" as she was known throughout her community was born
Buzzie Lee Spiva on Feb. 5, 1913, to the union of Square and Hattie Ward Spiva in Sturgis, Miss. She was one of seven children. Ms. "B" decided later in life to change her name to Bertha.

Nathaniel Parker, 73, of Leakesville, Miss., died Oct. 3, 2006.
PAYTON
Herbert Lee Payton Sr. was born
on Sept. 6, 1931, in Vancleave, Miss., to the late Mr. Frazier Payton and Mrs. Rosa Lee Payton. In his youth he attended high school in Vancleave. Later, he met the love of his life and married
Judia McLaurin. Out of this union they were blessed with ten children. He confessed his faith and was baptized at an early age. He was an ordained deacon and a Sunday school superintendent at Sun Rise Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastors Walter Flowers and J. P. Gaines. Later he united with Good Hope Baptist Church under the leadership Pastor T. Catching.

Mark A. Wonsley, 38, of Moss Point, Miss., died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006, at his residence. Mark was a lifelong resident of Moss Point, he was born
July 7, 1968.

MRS. PAULINE BAILEY PARKER, 95, of Lucedale, Miss., died Oct. 3, 2006. George County Funeral Home, Lucedale, Miss.
HOOD
Mr. Jake Hood, 88, died Friday, Sept. 29, 2006, at his home in Gautier. He was born
June 11, 1918, in Canton, Texas. Mr. Hood was a retired pilot from the United States Air Force. He was a veteran of World War II and later served as a flight instructor. Mr. Hood was then stationed at K.A.F.B. where he retired. He remained in the United States Air Force reserves where he received his commission as a captain. Mr. Hood moved to Gautier and became the first park manager of Shepard State Park in Gautier. He retired after 31 years with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks. He attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Gautier until his health would no longer allow him. Mr. Hood was preceded in death by his father and mother, Mr. John W. and Mrs. Molly Estella Hood; his wife, Mrs. Ina Mae Burns Hood; his daughter, Mrs. Hazel Anne Joseph; two brothers and one sister.
