She was a member of the West Corinth Baptist Church for 58 years. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Corinth Baptist Church.

A private family committal service will take place on Sunday at Lee Memorial Park in Verona with the Rev. Steve Hurt and the Rev. Paul Stephens officiating. Holland-Harris Funeral Director of Tupelo is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Saturday at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland-Harris Funeral Director. Burial will be at Milo cemetery in Milo, Mo., at 4 p.m. on Monday. Magnolia Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Pitts died Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at her residence. Visitation - the body will lie in state at Oakland Baptist Church from 6-8 p.m. today and from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday.

Geraldine Upchurch
A Mass of Christian Burial for Geraldine ³Jerry² Upchurch was said on Thursday, March 12, at St. James Catholic Church by Father Richard Smith. Burial followed at Corinth National cemetery. McPeters Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Upchurch died Monday, March 9, 2009, at Northeast Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Visitation was held Thursday at St. James Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to the Breast Cancer Foundation.

DETROIT - Funeral services for Pearlie Louise Burns, 60, are set for 11 a.m. Friday at Meigg Street Church of Christ with Bro. Will Luster Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Corinth National cemetery. Patterson Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Ms. Burns died Friday, March 6, 2009, in Detroit. She graduated from Easom High School. She enjoyed making gift baskets, talking on the phone and shopping for her grandkids. Ms. Burns was preceded in death by her parents, Levell and Lenore Sorrell; her brothers, Edward Sorrell and Leroy Sorrell; and one sister, Rosemary Sorrell. Survivors include her husband, Sherman Lee Burns Sr.; one son, Sherman Lee Burns Jr.; five daughters, Marilyn Morgan, Stephine Williamson (Micheal), Carlia Burns, Cynithia Allen (Richard) and Sharon Burns; two brothers, Williams Sorrell and Willie K. Sorrell; three sisters, Mary Campbell, Virginia Ann Jones and Pauline Sorrell; her mother-in-law, Bettie Lou Burns Wade; and her grandchildren, Richard Allen, Jasmine Burns, Taylor Burns, Stary Burns, Alonzo Allen, Sherman Burns III, Paige Burns and Makayla Williamson. Pallbearers will be her friends and family. Visitation will be today from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Graysonıs Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Ms. Hastings died Sunday, March 8, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. She was a lifetime member of Springhill M.B. Church and a member of the Usher Board, Senior Choir, Pastoraide, Missionary Society, B.T.V., a Sunday school teacher, and a member of the NAACP. Ms. Hastings was preceded in death by her parents, John Young and Henrietta Bush; one daughter, Margaret Lucille Hastings; three brothers, T.J. Bush, Charlie James Bush and Curtiss Bush; three sisters, Lula Evans, Mattie Glen Mayo and Dorthey Elizabeth Agnew; and two sons, James Curtiss Calamese and Harold Edward Calamese. Survivors include William Benjamin (Benny) Bush and Dwight Anthony Hastings of Booneville; seven daughters, Mildred Smitherman and Sandra Hastings, both of Normal, Ill., Loretta Calamese, Eleanor Hastings and Diane Hastings, all of Booneville, Sheila Hastings of Atlanta and Renade (Ronnie) Whitmore of Ramer, Tenn.; two sisters, Gwyndell Thompson and Betty Brandon, both of Booneville; 30 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Liberty Hill cemetery. Ms. Hutchcraft died Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at her residence. She was a member of Community Baptist Church in Memphis, Tenn. and worked at Wendy's in Memphis. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. Ms. Hutchcraft was preceded in death by her stepfather, Stephen Logsdon; her grandfather, George N. Hutchcraft; and one uncle, David Wayne Hutchcraft. Survivors include one son, Stephen Lee Hutchraft of Somerville; one daughter, Sarah Garland Webb of Memphis; her mother, Debra Hutchraft of Somerville; her grandmother, Ollie Calvary Ludlow and her husband, Charles, of Oakland, Tenn.; her uncles, George Robert Hutchcraft and his wife, Carol, Donald Ray Hutchcraft, Willie Everett Hutchcraft, Dale Hutchcraft and John Earl Hutchcraft; one aunt, Victoria Sue Porter; her great-uncles, J.W. Funeral services for Bertha Lee Phillips Farris, 90, of Corinth are set for 11 a.m. today at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Bro. Kevin Wallace officiating and Kim Woodall delivering the eulogy. Burial will be in Henry cemetery. Ms. Farris died Monday, March 9, 2009, at her residence. She was a member of First Methodist Church and a retired beautician. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed working in her flower garden, raising tomatoes, cooking, camping, traveling and attending her Sunday school class. Ms. Farris was preceded in death by her huband of 64 years, James Everette Farris; an infant son; and infant daughter; her parents, Luther J. and Anna Rebecca Forsyth Phillps; and one brother, Alton Phillips. Survivors include one daughter, Janis Farris Byars and her husband, Harvey, of Corinth; two grandchildren, Kim Woodall of Atlanta and Jenae Heep and her husband, Jeff, of Clinton; two great-grandchildren, Autumn Heep and Lauren Heep; two step grandchildren, Sonya Carollo of Winona and Dianna Downs of Tupelo; two step great-grandchildren, Sarah Beth Carollo and Jake Carollo; three brothers, Coleman Phillips and his wife, Alma Dee, and James Phillips and his wife, Lucille, all of Guys, Tenn. and Joe Phillips of Beaumont, Texas; other relatives and a host of friends. Pallbearers are Harvey Byars, Jeff Heep, Jake Carollo, Tommy Phillips, John Farris and Steve Farris. Visitation will continue today from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Sheila Hayes
Funeral services for Sheila Hayes, 44, of Corinth are set for 7 p.m. today at McPeters Chapel with Bro. Carroll Talley officiating. McPeters Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Hayes died Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at Magnolia Regional Health Center. She was a native of Waukegan, Ill. She lived in Corinth for the past 20 years and enjoyed cooking, gardening, flowers and especially being with her family. She attended Tobe's Chapel Church. She had a special compassion for Native American Indians and loved collecting anything pertaining to Indians. Survivors include her husband of 20 years, Gregory Keith Hayes; her parents, Dorothy Burcham of Rienzi and Carl Toole of Bedford, Ore.; one daughter, Hope (Trace) Hayes Cox of Corinth; two step-daughters, Tina Asher of Booneville and C.J. Davis of Corinth; two brothers, Jeff Rest and Kevin Toole, both of Illinois; two sisters, Diane Woods and Deborah Hendrick, both of Illinois; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Faith Cox; and six step-grandchildren, Britney Ford, Meriah Davis, Gregory Eathan Davis, Haley Michelle Asher, Kaden Asher and Raven Asher. Visitation will be held Wednesday at McPeters Chapel from 5 until 7 p.m. and again following the 7 p.m. services.
