Clyde Arnold Klinger
Clyde A. Klinger, 67, of Billings went to be with our Dear Lord on Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999, after a long courageous battle with cancer.
On July 30, 1931, Clyde was born in Fargo, N.D. the son of Fred and Mary (Pommerer) Klinger. The family moved to Fingle, N.D., in 1941 where Clyde was educated. He worked in his father's business, known as "The Gambles Hardware and General Auto Repair Store." In November of 1947, his family moved to McVille, N.D., where they operated the Klinger and Son's John Deere Dealership.
Clyde was drafted in the U.S. Army in 1953. He was stationed in Texarkana, Texas, and later in Aberdeen, Md. It was then he met and married Janice Karmen Arneson. Janice died in 1981. After his military service, he again worked for John Deere Co. in Fargo, transferring to Yellowstone Implement Co. in Billings in 1967. Here he served as Shop Foreman, Service Manager and Area Serviceman. Clyde became well known around the Yellowstone County by many farmers and ranchers for his expertise and professional mechanical engineering.
Clyde was united in marriage to Iren Runge (Pachl) on Jan. 15, 1983, at which time Clyde joined the Catholic Church.
In 1985 he retired tired from John Deere and became active with the Loyal Order of the Moose and a member of Veteran's Post 1634. Clyde was the driving force in getting the VFW Post 1634 operation relocated and functioning. He served as Quarter Master and Computer Bookkeeper for the Post, serving seven years until his health began to fail. Even then he was always available to give his advice and did as needed.
He enjoyed hunting in the Little Belt Mountains with his nephews and grandson. Together, he and his wife, Irene, enjoyed traveling. They did deep sea fishing off the West Coast and on their great trip to Alaska. Together they enjoyed gardening, yard work and growing fruit trees and roses. He took great pride in his yard.
Clyde is survived by his wife of 15 years, Irene; two daughters, Lou Ann and husband Phil Madden, and Connie Snyder all of Billings; one son, Fred serving in the military in Texas; eight grandchildren, Landon, Nicole, Snyder, Jenifer, Ryan and Ben Madden, Teresa and Mike Klinger; three stepchildren; seven step-grandchildren and one step-great grandchild; one brother, Dale of Fargo, N.D. and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife Janice, his parents, two brothers, Roy and Ellymer and one sister, Irene.
Rest in Peace Dear Dad, Granddad, Brother, Dearest Husband and Best Friend. We will miss you.
Vigil will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, and Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 4, both at Little Flower Church. Rite of Committal will be in the Red Lodge cemetery on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. Dahl Funeral Chapel in Billings is in charge of arrangements. Jola 'Mabel' Miller
MISSOULA - As the sun lulled the stars to sleep our precious grandmother ascended the stairway to heaven. On Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, the Lord called home Jola "Mabel" Miller.
She was born on March 9, 1904, to Ole and Metta Hagen. Mabel and her husband, Allen, used to have a farm on Sarpy Creek near Hysham.
Mabel is survived by her children, Rudi and Judy Miller, Ole Miller of Missoula, and Mabel Miller of Hysham; her grandchildren, Tammy and Pat Brook, Scott and Brenda Miller, Rick and Jodie Miller, Lee and Jim Morris, Ann and Bob Wilson, Juanita and Paul McDanold, Karen Shull, Marvin, Melvin and Allen Marry; 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 4, from 10-11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hysham, where a funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Memorial Vail cemetery.
Arrangements are under the care of Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory, Missoula.

Oliver Glenn Sr.
LAME DEER - Oliver "Bunevun" Beartusk Eagle Feathers Glenn Sr. went to be with the Lord on June 8, 1999. He was born Feb. 7, 1941, to the late Kenneth Beartusk and Victory King in Lame Deer. He was educated in Lame Deer and Miles City, and received his A.A. degree in business administration from Miles City Community College. He served his country in the Army, and was a member of the Northern Cheyenne Dog Soldier Society.
He married D. Cordelia Kingfisher on March 12, 1962, and together they had four children: Olivette Glenn, Ardis Brown (Joe), Oliver Glenn Jr. (Angelia) and Jean Glenn, all of Lame Deer. Later he married Alberta St. Pierre in 1975; they had a daughter, Cheyenne St. Pierre, Billings. He leaves behind a special companion, Glenda LongJaw Addison, and their daughter, Peggy Sue Addison of Lander, Wyo.
He is survived by his children; his sisters, Mary F. Eagle Feathers Bailey (Bob), Matilda F. Big Head, Debbie Beartusk, and Janelle Jenson; his brothers, Ronnie, Keith, Terry, Leslie and Dana Beartusk, Maynard Troy Big Head; and adopted brother, Stanley Small Salmon, Ronan, and his adopted sister, Geneva Medicine Elk, Busby. Other survivors include his Aunties Bertha Freeman, Myrtle Pittman, Kathleen Bellymule, Anna Joyce Littlebird and Harriet Littlebird, all of Lame Deer, and Uncles Rudolph King Sr., Reuben Beartusk Sr., Hubert Bear Chum, and his cousin, Kenneth Taylor. Oliver was a happy, proud grandfather of 14 grandsons and 13 granddaughters.
A wake service will be held at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Lame Deer on Friday, June 11, 1999, at 8 p.m. The funeral will be held at the Boys and Girls Club of Lame Deer on Saturday, June 12, at 1 p.m. Oliver and his sense of humor will be missed by all. We love you, Dad.

Virginia Ruth Bodlak Jennison Hilton
Virginia Ruth Bodlak Jennison Hilton was born March 11, 1918, in Minot, N.D., to Harry and Virgie Davis Bodlak. She was raised and educated in Devil's Lake, N.D. She attended the U of North Dakota and University of Minnesota for three years, majoring in art and home economics.
Virginia was known for her creativity and talents as a homemaker, business woman and artist. She loved to bowl and had an especially keen sense of humor and enjoyed a good joke.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Wesley G. Jennison (1965) and Geoffrey Hilton (1987); a son, Wesley W. Jennison (1999); her parents; and brothers, Harry Bodlak and Leo Erickson.
Virginia is survived by one son, David G. Jennison of Fountain, Colo.; one daughter, Judith J. Holcomb of Donnellson, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Bruce Bodlak of Sacramento, Calif.
Cremation will take place and a memorial will be 3 p.m. Friday at the Gallery, 8th St. W. & St. John's, with private inurnment at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to charities of choice. Arrangements were made by Cremation or Funeral Gallery.

Carol Marie Johnson
ROUNDUP - Carol Marie Johnson, 58, of Roundup, passed away on Sunday, June 6, 1999, at Deaconess Hospital in Billings.
She was born on March 15, 1941, to Lawrence and Florence (Abel) Taylor in Glasgow.
Carol was a Sunday school teacher for many years and always active in the church. She enjoyed Bible study group and her coffee pals. Her faith in the Lord was very strong.
She enjoyed spring with the newborn calves on the ranch, she also dearly loved horses. She enjoyed garage sale season and was a great collector.
Carol loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren.
She truly appreciated the loving care by her family and dear friends during the time of her illness.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Taylor. She is survived by her husband, Daniel of Roundup; two sons, Paul (Delorita) of Los Angeles, and Stacy of Las Vegas, Nev.; mother, Florence Taylor and brother, Gary Taylor, both of Saco; and three grandsons.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 1999, at the Zion Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Saco at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cancer Society or the Zion Lutheran Church, 401 Sixth Ave., Roundup, MT 59072.
Wier Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Salvatore 'Sal' Lippiello
CODY, Wyo. - Sal, age 64, died June 6, 1999, at his Southfork home outside of Cody as a result of cancer. After selling his heating and air conditioning business in New York in 1982, Sal retired to Cody with his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobiling with his friends and family.
He was born Sept. 26, 1934, in the Bronx, N.Y., to Jenny and Jerry Lippiello.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ann Marie Muciaccia.
Survivors include his wife, Ginny of Cody; their three daughters, Gina Catino of Brentwood, Tenn., Christine Lippiello-Girardi of Mohegan Lake, N.Y., and Geri Greninger of Menifee, Calif., their husbands and four grandchildren; and his brother, Louis Lippiello of Scottsdale, Ariz.
A Celebration of Life for Sal will be held in Cody in July. A definite date has not been set. At Sal's request there will be no immediate service. Cremation has taken place.
Memorials may be made to Spirit Mountain Hospice, 707 Sheridan Ave., Cody, WY 82414.

Katherine Gibson Boslough
Katherine Gibson Boslough, 85, a former teacher and lifelong Denver resident, died June 8, 1999, at the Aspen Meadows Retirement Community in Billings from complications of a stroke she suffered in 1996.
She was born in Houston, Texas, May 28, 1914, and moved with her parents to Denver when she was 4 years old. After graduating from East High School in Denver, she studied history and classics at the University of Denver from which she graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1936. At the university, she was a member of Pi Beta Phi and was May Queen her senior year.
Afterwards she taught first and second grades at several elementary schools in Denver. She married Milton Ellsworth Boslough, a Denver attorney, at her parents' home in Denver on Sept. 1, 1938. He died in 1973.
Mrs. Boslough was president of the Parent Teachers Association at East High School in Denver in the 1960s, president of the Denver Pi Beta Phi Alumni Association and president of the Boy Scout Troop 28 auxiliary. She was a member of the Denver Athletic Club, Park Hill United Methodist Church, The English Speaking Union, PEO and the Denver Symphony Guild. An active member of the University of Denver Alumni Association, she helped organize the class of 1936's 50th Reunion.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. James Gibson Boslough, an emergency physician, of Billings, and John Irvan Boslough, an author and journalist, of McLean, Va.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

John 'Jack' Connolly
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - John "Jack" LeRoy Connolly, 82, died May 30, 1999, at his home.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services were held June 5 at Kane Funeral Home with interment of cremated remains in the Sheridan Elks cemetery.

Alfred Cook
THERMOPOLIS, Wyo. - Alfred Cook, 84, died Friday, June 4, 1999, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 14, at Riverside cemetery. Mortimore Funeral Home is in charge.

Ernest Charles 'Chuck' DeVries
ROCKVALE - Chuck was born April 30, 1946, in Billings to Ernest G. and Royleine Maher DeVries. Chuck grew up on the family farm, where he enjoyed playing basketball and being with friends.
Upon graduation from Roberts High School in 1964, Chuck entered MSU-Bozeman. Two quarters later he enlisted in the United States Army Aviation-Helicopter Division. After serving his first distinguished tour in Vietnam, Chuck returned to the States, where he was a helicopter pilot instructor at Fort Walters, Texas. Chuck then chose to go on a second tour to Vietnam, where he was again decorated for his heroic efforts.
Ever the patriot, Captain DeVries distinguished himself during the Vietnam Campaign and was highly decorated with the following awards: 22 Air Medals, two for Valor; two Bronze Star Medals; and two Distinguished Flying Cross Medals for Heroism. Chuck was very proud to be a "Screaming Eagle" of the 2nd Squadron, 17th Cavalry of the 101st Airborne Division. He was also a part of the 1st Infantry Division, the Big Red One, whose motto was "No mission too difficult, no sacrifice too great: Duty First!" After returning to Montana, Chuck also flew with the Montana National Guard.
Chuck loved life and he enjoyed it to the fullest. He always had a kind word or a friendly joke to tell. In the '70s Chuck, his father, brother, Jim, and brothers-in-law formed their family partnership, DeVries Sheep & Land Co. His business talents and communication skills also led him into founding Triangle-Irrigation of Great Falls and CR Auto of Laurel.
Chuck DeVries is survived by his three children: Royleine Rynae "Pookie" of Great Falls, Charles Harm of Rockvale, and Emilia Charlsey of Belt. Also surviving is his father, Ernest G. DeVries of Rockvale; his granddaughter, Quincy Dynae DeVries of Great Falls; his five siblings and their spouses: Barbara and Archie Caraveau of Forsyth; Donna and Don Adams of Powell, Wyo.; Jim and Deb DeVries of Boise, Idaho; Rusty DeVries and Jennifer Collins of Roberts; and Vicki DeVries and Dan Lemire of Rockvale; 14 nieces and nephews; his two former wives, DeVonna DeVries and Sherri Hansen; his honorary daughter, Jessica Golden; and a very large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Chuck was preceded in death by his mother, Royleine R. DeVries and her twin brother, Raymond "Bud" Maher.
On June 6, 1999, after Chuck completed planting his beautiful garden, he went into his home where he died in the arms of his baby sister, Vicki. He went to be with his mother who passed away on Feb. 13, 1999; they are now in the arms of our Lord.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 10, in Roberts United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Roberts cemetery, with full military honors provided jointly by the Montana National Guard and the Montana Air National Guard. Olcott Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be given to the Roberts United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.

Margaret Ann Goble
HELENA - Margaret Ann Goble, age 59, of 1805 Joslyn Street, Helena, passed away Monday afternoon June 7, 1999, at St. Peter's Hospital following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Margaret was born on Aug. 13, 1939, in San Haven, N.D., to Laura and Anthony DeCouteau. She attended schools in Glasgow and Shelby. She graduated from Helena High School.
Margaret enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Aug. 21, 1958. She was stationed at Quantico, Va., for 3 years and honorably discharged as a lance corporal. Margaret married William Goble and they made their home in Trenton, N.J. She continued her career as an IBM Computer Operator and her modeling career. She later moved to Springfield, Ore., and went to work for the Southern Pacific Railroad.
Margaret is preceded in death by a brother, Frank DeCouteau; her mother and father; and a nephew, Brett DeCouteau. She is survived by one brother, Anthony DeCouteau and his wife, Sarah. She is also survived by five sisters: ArIa Mae, Delores Butler and Leona Turpin all of Helena, Lucy Wagoner and her husband, George, and Betty Pugh and her husband, Steve all of Springfield, Ore.; a sister-in-law, Monica DeCouteau of Billings; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin Thursday, June 10, at 11 am. at the Retz Funeral Home. A Vigil service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the Retz Chapel. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 11, at the Cathedral of St. Helena. Interment will follow at Forestvale cemetery. The family suggest memorials to the American Cancer Society or to an organization of the donor's choice.

Mabel Palmer Guffey
Mabel Palmer Guffey, 92, formerly of Thermopolis, Wyo., died Monday, June 7, 1999, at Valley Health Care Center in Billings.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 11, at the Shoshoni City cemetery. Mortimore Funeral Home of Thermopolis is in charge.

Glenda H. Hall
JOLIET - Glenda H. Hall passed away peacefully Monday, June 7, 1999 at St. Vincent Hospital after a short but heroic battle with cancer. She was born Oct. 15, 1932, to James and Velma Pratt Estes in Kimball, Neb., returning to Montana in 1933. Settling in the Rockvale area, she attended rural elementary schools and graduated from Joliet High School in 1950. On Aug. 26, 1950, Glenda was united in marriage to Albert F. Hall. They owned and operated Hall's Conoco in Joliet as a business for 48 years. Glenda recently retired from the Dept. of Family Services after 17 years of employment.
She was a life member of VFW Ladies Aux. Post 5748 in Joliet and Post 7311 in Absarokee. Glenda held local and state offices before becoming State President in 1986-87. Being fervently patriotic she was proud to help any and all veterans during their times of need. She was also a member of the La Cuesta Rebekah Lodge in Joliet and held various offices within the Lodge. Glenda was rewarded many times over with love and compassion for her work with these organizations.
Mom was a tireless supporter of all her sons' activities from intellectual pursuits to sports, music, and her continued support of her grandchildren.
Glenda was preceded in death by her husband, Albert in January of 1999 and her grandson, Paul Nutting. She is survived by three sons: Jim of Joliet, Bob (Cathy) of Boyd, and Bill (Jane) of Forsyth; four grandsons: Bryant (Sheri) Nutting and great grandson Bryan of Billings, Shawn Hall (fiance Tina Nicola) of Laurel, and Ian and Daniel Hall of Boyd; and a granddaughter and great-grandson in Billings. She is also survived by four sisters: Merle, Betty, and Lucile of Laurel, and Lu (Pete) of Huntley; a brother, Jim of Frannie, Wyo; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 11, at the Episcopal Church of Our Savior in Joliet. Cremation has taken place and a private family inurnment will be held at a later date. The family requests memorials be made to charities of choice. Arrangements were made by Cremation Society of Montana and Cremation or Funeral Gallery.
