Clinton Cook Reed
THERMOPOLIS, Wyo. - Clinton Cook Reed, 57, died Saturday, March 13, 1999, at his home of cancer.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, at the Reed ranch at 1283 Cowboy Mine Road, 13 miles north of Thermopolis. Mortimore Funeral Home is in charge.

Dale C. Running Bear
POPLAR - Dale C. Running Bear, known to many as "Tito, " died on March 1, 1999, at the St. John's Hospital in Tucson, Ariz.
He was born Sept. 29, 1966, in Poplar, to Delores Running Bear and Andy Leport of Seattle. Dale's parents are both deceased. He was raised in Poplar by his grandma, Rena Comes Last, whom he loved very much.
He enjoyed sports very much. He especially enjoyed rodeos including the tumbles and hurts but he still rode to ride. Dale also enjoyed karoake and arm wrestling, where he won many trophies.
Survivors include a son, Dale Lee Running Bear of Poplar; twin girls he raised, Kristian and Kristie Young Man, both of Billings; brothers, Ben Running Bear of Poplar, Mervin Garfield of Wolf Point, Chinny Adams of Poplar; grandmother, Rena Comes Last of Poplar; aunts, Eleanor McKay and Violet Comes Last, both of Poplar; uncles, Dana Comes Last and LeRoy Comes Last, both of Poplar; many nieces, nephews and cousins, and he leaves all of his friends.
A wake will be held on Wednesday evening, March 17, at the Poplar Cultural Center in Poplar. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 18, at the Poplar Cultural Center with Rev. Enright Bighorn officiating. Interment will be in the Chelsea cemetery. Clayton Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Jack W. Saultz
THERMOPOLIS, Wyo. - Jack W. Saultz, 77, of Thermopolis, died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, in Midland, Texas.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 19, at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Mortimore Funeral Home is in charge.

James E. Akin
James E. Akin, 84, died Thursday, March 11, 1999.
Cremation has taken place. Affordable Alternative Cremation and Burial Services was in charge of arrangements.

LouAnna Braughton
BIG TIMBER - LouAnna Braughton, 83, formerly of Billings, died Saturday, March 13, at Pioneer Medical Center in Big Timber of natural causes.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, at Lowry Funeral Home in Big Timber. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Billings.

Robert Leroy Ellis
Robert LeRoy Ellis, 73, died Friday, March 12, 1999.
Cremation has taken place. Affordable Alternative Cremation and Burial Services was in charge of arrangements.

Maralyn Loyning Gangstad
Maralyn Gangstad, 51, of Billings died at Deaconess Medical Center on Sunday, March 14, 1999 after a short bout with cancer.
Maralyn was born Jan. 4, 1948, in Red Lodge the daughter of Anna (Eskro) and Sidney A. Loyning. After graduating from Billings Senior High in 1966 she married Anton Gangstad on April 18, 1968.
At the time of her death, Maralyn worked for the last 10 years as the controller of Billings Truck Center. Maralyn is survived by her mother Anna Loyning of Billings; daughters: Christine Stidham (Dan) of Billings and Carrie Harwood (Greg) of Paul, Idaho; sister Cheryl Gangstad (Orval); one brother, Roy Laird (Sally); and her long time companion and best friend Ed Fernandez. She also is survived by a niece Ann Gangstad and nephews: David, Daniel and Rob Laird all of Billings and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father Sidney A. Loyning and sister Diane.
Maralyn was a wonderful daughter, mother, sister and friend and was loved by all who knew her. She will be missed terribly. Take comfort in the fact she is safe and in peace in heaven.
Memorial services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 17 at the Smith Downtown Chapel. Cremation has taken place at Smiths Crematory. A private interment will be held with the family.

Thelma Johnson Palin
Thelma Johnson Palin, 94, died Saturday, March 13, 1999, at Valle Vista Manor.
Graveside services will be at the Lakeview cemetery at Valier on Wednesday, March 17 at 1 p.m. Creel Funeral Home of Lewistown in charge of arrangements.

Joyce E. Tootell
Joyce E. Tootell, 67, died Saturday, March 13, at her home in Billings after an extended illness.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, at the Dahl Funeral Chapel, Bozeman. Interment will be at the Sunset Hills cemetery, Bozeman. Memorials to Big Sky Hospice of Billings or the Arthritis Foundation.

J. Jeremy Scott Turner
GLASGOW - J. Jeremy Scott Turner, 10, died Friday, March 12, 1999, at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow, due to complications of the flu.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, at the Episcopal Church in Glasgow. Private interment. Bell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Laureen (Lori) Wagner
Lori Wagner, 48, of Billings died March 14, 1999, from breast cancer, at her home . Lori was born July 5, 1950 and was the wife of 22 years to Mike Wagner. Lori was the daughter of Kinen and Eileen Meade of San Jose, Calif. Lori lived in California until moving to Montana in 1993, where she loved her new home and state.
She is survived by her husband, Mike; daughters Michelle Joyce, and Jennifer Davenport; and grandchildren Joshua, Mike, Alyssa and Amber.
Services will be held at Lockwood Evangelical Church at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16. In lieu of flowers please send donations to, Lockwood Evangelical Church, 1413 Rosebud Lane, Billings, MT 59101.

Arlis Blake Yellowtail
Arlis Blake Yellowtail, 22, of Lodge Grass, died Friday evening, March 12, 1999, of injuries sustained in a one car rollover.
He was born Aug. 14, 1976, in Crow Agency, a son of Ruben and Kathleen Whiteman Yellowtail. He grew up and attended school in Lodge Grass. While in school, he actively participated in basketball, cross country and track.
Arlis was a member of the National Honor Society, Pentecostal Church, Bad War Deeds Clan and a child of the Ties the Bundle Clan.
He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He took a special interest in showing his younger brothers the joys of camping and all activities associated with that adventure
Survivors include a son, Hayden Yellowtail of Crow Agency; his parents, Ruben and Kathleen Yellowtail of Lodge Grass; three brothers, Frank, Ivan and Reuben Yellowtail Jr. of Lodge Grass; two sisters, Ruby Yellowtail of Ranchester, Wyo., and Amy Yellowtail of Lodge Grass; his grandparents, Winona Plenty Hoops, Pansy Hugs, Larry and Ava Whiteman of Lodge Grass, Phyllis Big Medicine of Dunmore and Ramona Real Bird of Crow Agency.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Lodge Grass Catholic Church Gymnasium. Interment will follow in the Lodge Grass cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Virginia Shell
LEWISTOWN - Virginia Shell, 87, died Sunday, March 14, 1999, at the Central Montana Medical Center.
Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 18, at St. Leo's Catholic Church. Funeral Liturgy will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 19, at the church with interment in Calvary cemetery. Creel Funeral Home is in charge.

William A. Steel
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - William A. Steel, 85, died Thursday, March 11, 1999, at the Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, at the First Christian Church with interment of cremated remains in the Sheridan Elks cemetery. Ferries Funeral Home is in charge.

William James 'BJ' Tarwater
MISSOULA - William James "BJ" Tarwater, age 12, of Missoula, died accidentally on March 13, 1999. He was born Dec. 26, 1986, in Denton, Texas.
BJ was a gregarious, happy, energetic boy with a very creative imagination. He had a zest for adventure and a love of all God's creatures. He was a true friend to the young and old alike. BJ loved his football, his scouting, his music, his friendships, his campouts and his creative hairdos.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Becky Tarwater and Stan Duffner; his brother, Blake Tarwater; his aunt and uncle, Bill and Kristin Kavanagh; cousins, Sam and Loie of Coram; his aunt and uncle, Loren and PJ McEwan; cousins, Jackson and Max of Houston, Texas; his step-grandparents, Lowell and Tiz Duffner of Billings; aunts and uncles, Jan and Ron Kirk and Mike and Diane Boyett of Billings.
BJ has left a huge void in all our lives. He always let his presence be known by his whistling, his tapping, his drumming, or his talking. Things are going to be a little too quiet. He will be so tremendously missed by all of us; especially by his family and good friend, Ray, and his pal, George. BJ's memory will live on forever, particularly with those many transplant recipients of tissues donated from his body who have received from him the ultimate gift of life. We love you.
Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, March 16, 1999, at 4:30 p.m. at the Meadow Hill Middle School Gym, 4210 Reserve, with Pastor Dan Dixson officia-ting. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the new Boys and Girls Club on South Higgins; or to Boy Scout Troop 11, c/o First Christian Church, 2701 S. Russell, Missoula, MT 59801; or to the Meadow Hill Middle School music program or library; or the YMCA, 3000 Russell, Missoula, MT 59801. Arrangements are under the direction of The Malletta Family of Funeral Homes, Squire Chapel, 3035 S. Russell.

Lori Wagner, 48, of Billings died March 14, 1999, from breast cancer, at her home. Lori was born July 5, 1950, and was the wife of 22 years to Mike Wagner. Carl J. Gaustad
JUNCTION CITY, Ore. - Carl J. Gaustad, age 91, passed away Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999. He had lived with his daughter, Carlene, in Junction City for the last nine years.
Carl was born Dec. 16, 1907, in Absarokee, Mont., to Carl and Thora Gaustad. He married Ivy N. Nelson on Feb. 11, 1934, in Forsyth, Mont. They lived in Absarokee until 1948. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII and graduated from Eastern Montana College with an education degree. He was a lineman for the power company and then taught elementary school in Red Lodge, Roscoe, Belfry and Baker, Mont. He also coached school athletics before retiring in 1969.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, sports, pool, gardening and reading. He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion and Faith Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife on Aug. 22, 1990. Survivors include a son, Harold (Buck) Gaustad of Los Angeles; three daughters, Barbara Bohle of Billings, Carlene Berg of Junction City, and Carol McMinn of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister, Clara Blakeley of Absarokee; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Inurnment will be held on Memorial Day in the Absarokee cemetery. Murphy-Musgrove Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
